Hear from the Players – Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Isoland 2: Ashes of Time:

We truly never write reviews, however we feel like we must for this game. At first glance, the art alone of isoland and isoland 2 is unique and very interesting. Once you dig into the game, youll find that these games are fun, sometimes quite challenging, and will get you thinking about the each character and how they fit into the larger puzzle. Support this game people! You wont regret it! Also we hope a third isoland is made!!!

We hope thats not the end of the story guys! Ill gladly play another. Lotta fun.

Please make an Isoland 3 and 4! We didnt care to start over in order to see a different ending but we enjoyed the first time through immensely. Just the right amount of difficulty.

We were stuck in the middle of the game so we tried buying a hint coin or whatever and now when we try to open the app it crashes and wont let mr do anything.

We have bought one coin to get a hint, but after we pay the $0.99, the game quit instantly. And now it crashes each time we open the game! We tried installing the game on our 10.5-inch iPad Pro, the game runs ok, but no coin received! Our device is iPhone X with iOS 11.4.1 Once this is fixed, we will rate it 4.5/5.

Really enjoyed this point n click game. Pretty straightforward, although we got temporarily stuck on what to do next a couple times… Not unusual for a p n c game. (Hint: Talk to everyone and take note of their comments). Good job! (That one puzzle with the red, blue and yellow wires that needed straightening was a bear. Had to leave and come back for that one haha)

Its beautifully designed, great characters and art. Good logic – if you are an escape the room / myst style adventure hunter dont even think – just buy it. Got through the game without hints after a few days. We were confused with the ending so looked online after to see if we were missing something … And we were. Hint: play the game through TWICE for the alternate, much more satisfying ending. Great game developers Im checking out your other titles now!

…. We’ve done the initial trip around the island, bumped into an impossible entry to a lighthouse, from which all life issues. For us, thats end of game, but there are a couple of new games we can turn to. Its a great game. Ill come back and fiddle at the lighthouse from time to time, wiggle the elks antler, then go play something more productive. Actually we do only one review and perhaps edit it, or refine our intent. If there is more than one review we would suspect it to be the product of programmers who havent learned how to keep the current review and delete previous copies.

Actually all the games up to this point Mr. Pumpkins Adventure, Isoland, and now Isoland 2. The unique art style is what initially attracted us, and then the story and gameplay got us hooked. There are a LOT of point and click type games out there on the market, but few produce such a fine balance of logical challenge, visual esthetic, and solidly intuitive controls. The drawing pad option was a nice add (like in Agent A), though we were still more inclined to snap pics on our phone or keep a scratch pad handy. This one does feel a bit shorter than the other installments, but dont let that stop you. Its still a great addition to play through!

We’ve been so in need of a game we could immerse myself in and solve challenges, we went back and played some old goodies. Then we saw this and have been hooked! Well done! We are going to go to the first one and try that. Kinda reminds us of the Rusty Lake series!

But the first time we tried playing this game, it was set in Korean by default cause we downloaded this game in Korea. But in Korean translation, the captain of the boat doesnt give you the directional hint needed to open the light house. All he says is we know the world to be big, if you go around enough, youll end up in the same place, something along the lines of that in Korean. It doesnt give you the necessary hint, so we were lost for the longest time before we looked up a walkthrough and found out what was missing. Its frustrating cause the whole point of this game is to find clues and solve mysteries. And we would hate to do this again in the future as we play it through and some clues are lost due to mistranslation again. Please fix this.

We really enjoyed this game, even better than the first one! The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is because the screen where you can write notes kept popping up when we tapped the screen. Even when we tried to tap on something in the opposite corner as the notes button, it would pop up. This bug was annoying because we were constantly having to close the notes screen. It didnt prevent us from finishing the game or anything and we absolutely loved the graphics. You can tell a lot of effort went into making this game!

We just bought it yesterday and Im addicted already but Im stuck and even we bought a hint but it seems that it doesnt work, Im still not able to keep going? Normally Im very good at this. Even we asked for help but no luck. Ill keep trying though.

Every other time we touch the screen on something The notepad comes up. There is no way turning this feature off. It was super annoying. Seriously could not deal with it. We really wish there was a way to turn it off. Seeing that there is already a button at the upper right corner of the screen which is easy to hit… Seeing that its a cellphone screen and not a giant tv. We dont understand the redundancy of that feature.

Got this game so our grandson and we could do this together. We were having a lot of fun together. We were really proud how our grandson was figuring out the mini puzzles before we were. But after we got to a certain point we could not get any further. So out of desperation we went on YouTube to look at the walk-through. We finally realize that at the point were you dig up the treasure we were not given IV of the stones we needed to complete this game. So we were not able to finish this game in the proper way very disappointing. We really feel that we got ripped off, a waste of money. We wouldve given this game 4.5 stars otherwise.

Please add a button in the options menu to reset back to the first play through.

We dont just love this game we lurve it, everything about it. The dialogue is like weird poetry. The puzzles are unusual and just hard enough. We were unable to use the camera on our 2018 iPad, but we just used the pencil and made drawings instead. We love that there are several female characters. We loved the time travel swish. We were sad we couldnt save the whale or the creatures in jars.

We absolutely adored this game. The puzzles were inventive and fun. They werent rehashed puzzles or over used. The graphics and dialogue were delightful and the story was so cute. We cant wait to play another game by this developer. We can only say we laughed out loud at the ending.

WORTH THE WAIT!!! We stumbled upon Isoland shortly after it was in the App Store. Over the past few years, we’ve returned to play it, although its been some time. When we saw pre-order for part 2, we knew we were gonna get it ASAP, tho we didnt pre-order it. We happened to be awake about 2:30 in morning EST, n it mustve just hit, cuz at first it wouldnt accept our payment. We were elated after a few tries n it began its download. Loved the fact that there arent any walkthroughs available yet to look up, and so we truly was forced to get thru it on our own (or pay for hints). A few times we got stumped for awhile, but thats mostly due to the non-linear aspect, WHICH IS A GREAT WAY TO DO THE GAME. Its less structured, n makes u recall things one might have seen much earlier on. The only hindrance w/this method, is when speaking to ppl, they repeat n tell u things like a machine is broken, despite already having fixed it, etc. We took our time, knowing this would be it for a LONG time again, as these games take a lot of work. We enjoyed the Easter eggs we found (dont know what we may have missed, as again, its too new for walkthroughs that would tell you). If ur used to these games n get frustrated n want to just cheat a little on a part or clue u just feel too stumped on… DONT! Trust us, youll figure it out n savor the game. We looked thru the machine where u purchase clues or can scroll items. So, towards the end, we knew we had a few we still needed, b4 taking off on the rocket. U can do that w/o a hint, n it was helpful to know to keeeep looking for things u might not necessarily need to complete. SOMEHOW we managed to miss the achievement for not speaking to EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE ISLAND. Lol. Looked at our achievements AFTER Id already taken off in rocket n ended game, so Ill let this one go a bit, then give it another go.

We prefer to be able to keep any pictures we take in the game itself rather than in our personal photos. Since we dont have that option, we figured Id save then delete as needed. But when we select save to files, the game crashes. We really enjoyed the first Isoland, so we hope this wont be an issue.

Enjoyable but short unless you want to play almost the exact same game again. No.

The puzzles hit the sweet point where theyre not too easy and not too hard. Got a couple of nights of play and was able to complete both play-throughs without needing any clues.

We dont usually get much from our games, we play them mindlessly and enjoy them at face value but 2020 has been hard. The little message at the ending encouraged us to keep going on a day thats been really tough. Thanks for making such a special and thoughtful game. We look forward to Isoland 3 <3.

This was a great game. We really enjoyed that it was a lot more challenging than most puzzle games and it was actually a pretty good length. It took a lot of going back and forth to different areas on map to find the answers to the puzzles. Awesome drawings and cool atmosphere and mystery.

Puzzle games shouldnt be impossible and, in our opinion, should give you a break from the real world. Isolands cute graphics and puzzles are a great way to relax. We really enjoyed this game.

Lots of puzzles and a good story. Totally worth the money. Also, love the Gattaca reference at the end! Great movie and great little game! Keep it up.

We really like this Groups work … The reference to Gattaca the movie .. Or rather text from same was a lovely touch . Look forward to playing more. Well done.

Crisp, entertaining, delightful game. We almost used a walkthrough but it was all fair in the end, we had done Isoland 1 which helped.

We played the first Isoland and had to replay to get the real ending. Played this one, the sequel, and you have to play it all over again too?!? Ugh, we really dont want to have to do all those puzzles again. We deleted it after googling a walkthrough and seeing what the real ending is; not worth our time.

A bit harder to follow than the first, and the puzzles are much, much harder. Looks, sounds and plays exactly like the first one though, which makes it worth playing if you liked that one.
