Literally maybe the best board game we have ever played and the app is a serious part of that! Genius!
We really enjoy the game and the app. The person who gave it to us believed the voiceover was included. But ONLY THE CAMPAIGN INTRO has narration. Please add narration to all the pop up dialogs!! The game is cumbersome without it. Narration for searches and interactions would be great too, but at least narrate the dialog boxes. The game also needs a way (list) to see the info revealed during an adventure. Theres no way to scroll back if we forget what we read, or accidentally close a dialog window. We love the game. Please add those two things!!!
The game seems to be nice but the app plays with absolutely no sound in our iPad. We have no idea why.
Full of fake Tolkien names, inaccuracies and stupid story lines. Awful.
Downloaded this game and after installing when we are setting it up they tell us we must buy another game to go with this for $6.99. Not exactly free.
It looks like an incredible app, but we cant get past the very first screen, loading assets. Not sure what to do here, our internet is fine, everything works, loads or plays. Help?
The game itself is pretty fun, but we feel that having to pay an additional 6.99 for the extra campaign when we have already spent almost $80 for the game itself is ridiculous. The second campaign should be included in the purchase of the game itself. We understand the expansions themselves but this campaign should have came with app. We feel like Im being squeezed dry.
Its a cool app, the narration is cool. Because of this app, youre able to run the game solo, which is super cool. Not a ton of tabletop rpg games that are solo. We wish the UI was a little bigger though, but besides that, it works perfectly, no crashes.
Plenty of people have covered this game so we thought we might reach the developer here about the stickers. They’re beautiful but only the ring has a transparent background which makes them more difficult to use. It’s generally fine if you want to use one at a time but we enjoy using multiple stickers together or a single person or character pasted to a text message. The design of these makes most of these be standalone only. I’d love to see background and characters separate (while still offering the originals) and I’d happily buy them.

We like this setup so far. But is there supposed to be sound? It hasnt come through on 2 different ios devices we’ve tried.
We love how this app has campaigns that are outside of the stories told in the books. However, we do wish that 1. There were more campaigns, and 2. That they were all free(I dont count campaigns you need to buy the expansion for). Overall, we love this app!!
We JUST WANT A GAME WHERE YOUR AN ORC Captain there is no video game where your an orc captain and there is no App Store game where your and orc captain is it that hard to make a video game or and App Store game like that or both huh?
Would be nice to know when before we download the app that we ALSO need the board game as well.

This is an amazing game! This would be a perfect game for a lord of the rings fan. One of our favorite parts is you can pick your choice on what to do, which is what make it so cool! Im glad they added the background music too, for some reason it makes us really imagine whats happening. We hope we can buy the actual game some day. Though we are still learning this app, its very fun! C: Also, a lot of the game rely on your imagination, which is why we like it, but you may think it is boring if you dont expand your imagination.
This is our absolute favorite game, it is excellently designed, strategic, perfectly challenging, fantastical and so much fun to play! It excellently incorporates the lord of the rings theme and has phenomenal gameplay. Our only suggestion is to make it so the save data can be linked with an account that can be accessed in the app through multiple devices so that it is not only locally stored and gone forever if you get replace your device or want to play on your computer instead of your phone. If this was added it would be absolutely perfect!
Im enjoying this companion app very much! Might we make some suggestions as someone who also played the living card game and thought the same for that game: it would be great to have an update that overhauled some of the visuals and audio in the app. Perhaps when an enemy appears, besides just the description have some cool art (even if still art) and some neat audio effects. Maybe when searching a cairn or bush have a nice image/art pop up too. When attacking after entering values perhaps have a nice quick animation of a hero or enemy swinging a weapon…. Basically some nice visuals/audio to go along with each descriptive element. Finally, we think it would be good when the players decide whos turn is next, to have a portrait button on the app to press so the app knows who is going next. This way it can know if someone cant attack ranged because gimli is selected, etc. Or to know when someone has exhausted their 2 actions for that round, etc. All in all very good but we think can be improved greatly with some really nice artwork and audio as descriptions pop up.
Our husband and we like this game however we have had the app crash on us so many times and each time we have to delete it then we have to start the whole campaign over again. Very frustrating! There needs to be a way to have a login so you can save your game somewhere other than just directly on the app so we can pick up where we left off! You can only play the first level so many times.
Overall this game is a waste of our time! Im a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and this game just isnt the middle earth we all love! Please make a better game! We would not recommend this game to anyone who likes the books and movies! Also, the tutorial took forever and it is really confusing where to go! We would like to play with the characters and actually fight not swipe on the card! Please improve!
There is no way to save, backup or move a campaign across devices. If the device you start on dies, then your campaign progress is permanently lost as well. How was this not considered?!?
We are a hobbit and lord of the rings fan but this game is just boring.
Been playing for many months with friends and its a ton of fun! Great mechanics and gameplay as well as a decent story. We’ve played the app versions of Descent and Imperial Assault and we love both of those, but this has some very unique features and very fun gameplay that make it more than worth checking out!
We love Tolkien middle earth immersion and this app and game did not disappoint!
App works great, but would be nice if the developer would allow file sharing or a way to export/import the save files to make it easier to use multiple devices. Sometimes we want to use our iOS , Android, or Steam app.
We’ve really enjoyed playing this game, but the app misses a lot of translations for Portuguese, and it have a few bugs, nothing major, but anoying.
We did not comprehend this game at all its like a test but no characters no game just questions.
We love this game, and the app is amazing. It really is genius and makes this game unlike anything we’ve played before. Here are a few things Id like to see: -More campaign options. This was actually a huge disappointment. The game is expensive, so to play 13 adventures and then be finished with the campaign, with no other campaigns available, is kind of a bummer. Yes we will go replay Bones of Arnor with new characters again and it will be different and fun, but still, there should be more options for a game thats nearly $100. We know another will be coming out to purchase, but it seems like it should have started with 3-4 available. – we love the narrator at the beginning and end of the campaign. We would love it if there was an option to have the narrator read the flavor in each adventure – There is no way that we can find to undo or go back to reread something that just happened. There were a few times we skipped over something too quickly, or hit a wrong button, then couldnt go back. – An option to keep the screen awake would be nice. -The chronicle button on our app doesnt work in some adventures, but does in other. It just sort of crashes and closes the app when we try to go to it. Again, the app is amazing and as far as we know, really unique. Since its so new we hope a couple of these things get taken care of!
We have played three missions now and the app has crashed five times will playing the third mission. Also, why isnt there a save and continue option? Could you also make the banner icons a little bigger. Im using an 11 inch display and it is difficult to see them. Can you make it were your campaign can be loaded on different devices?
Love this. Best app game integration ever. Can the developer find a way to keep the iPad from going to sleep when playing? Thats our only gripe.
Going to try to keep this short and try to add useful suggestions as we play the game. Sooo… The game is awesome. FFG has come up with an amazing game, very impressive. The app helps to reinforce the Middle-earth theme with great graphics and immersive but unobtrusive audio track (including both music and ambient sounds of nature). Normal when we open a new FFG game we expect it to be very rules-heavy and complex. Not the case here! With just a little bit of patience we were able to get our 10 y.o. Playing this very easily. Suggestions- On the player cards each Stat Icon has a specific shape and a unique color. The app, when instructing you to make a skill test, only displays the Stats shape displayed in white. It would make it much easier to quickly identify which stat to use if the app displayed it in the corresponding color. Easy fix that could really make things less confusing for new players. Thanks for a great game!
Game is fun, the app itself is decent but since the game is useless without it, and not working on our iPhone, our game is basically a cardboard paperweight. Our friends iPad works fine, so we know its not user error. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no dice (pun intended, game has no dice).
This is an awesome board game, and we genuinely hope that Fantasy Flight is investing a significant portion of its R&D budget to more app assisted board games. This makes the game experience far more entertaining and immersive. It also bridges the experience for game players who are not are as hardcore as other gamers. That being said, the app could use some features. Namely: – Could we have the ability to rename saved games? – Could we associate character players with actual game player names? To keep multiple campaigns straight? – Could we export saved games so other people could continue a campaign on another device? – Could we have the campaign sync to a cloud service? Like iCloud or Dropbox? – It would be satisfying to have victory or defeat animations after you complete an adventure.
This app/game is great! Feels like easy DnD. Please add the ability for the app to keep the screen awake when you are in a game though (PLEASE).
