Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

There are a lot of games nowadays that have gorgeous art and sprawling worlds and are extremely boring to play because the game itself is so poorly designed. This is the antithesis of that. Its got a janky interface, there are a bunch of themes that make it decent to look at but the UI is clearly an afterthought. Its got some bugs and its mostly text based. Theres no astounding art here. But the gameplay is so thoroughly well designed that it makes up for that tenfold. Calling it an idle game is almost a disservice, it definitely can be played as an idle game if you just want to wait and click but the mechanics are so interactive that you can spend hours in the app micromanaging what your kittens are doing and reducing wait times to mere minutes. There are big difficulty spikes but theyre quickly followed by new mechanics to reach them, there are callbacks to your humble beginnings where you get to plow through early bottlenecks with your highly evolved manufacturing. Every single kitten has a name and skillset you can train and utilize. Theres industry, religion, education, space travel, politics, science, trade, and good old idle game building scaling. Theres a prestige system that lets you replay the whole thing with buffs from previous timelines and there are a ton of different approaches and styles (if scale out your population fast you get a ton of workers but you might get wrecked by overpopulation unhappiness, industrialize rapidly and you get all kinds of automation and upgrades but you might destroy your environment in the process). So yeah for 3 bucks this is probably the best idle game you can play and just one of the best mobile games in general. Id love to see more of this kind of game, get the gameplay, design, and balance down perfectly and then build on top of that.

We really love this game. It has the feeling of understanding and controlling a complex system unlike any other game Ive played. We really hope to see more from the dev in the future.

Best for busy people looking for an idle game in the background.

We want to play this game on mobile, but background refresh makes it inconvenient for resources like spices, fur, and ivory unless we check back frequently early game. We're also afraid of coming back to a graveyard if we go long enough without playing.

One of the all time greats in terms of this genre, gets to the heart of what makes these games fun, big recommend. HOWEVER, the interface gets a bit wonky and often times Ill be pressing a button and hit another, and this keeps going and will only be fixed by restarting, which can be frustrating. Its definitely possible our old phone is agitating the situation, but we also dont have these problems with any other game or app, so we think we can safely say that its this games interface that doesnt work quite properly. Still, good stuff devs.

Buildings to reduce unhappiness and decrease catnip consumption seem to have no such effect. Otherwise we think this is a really good ideal game.

The game randomly autosaves, which is incredibly irritating as Ill come back to the game to find 10 or 20 minutes of progress gone.

Love playing the game on computer browser but the mobile UI is pretty awful and it looses some of the games functionality like the ability the pawse the game. If we had known before we bought the app we wouldnt have.

We adore this game, thank you for keeping it active. This is our first run since pollution was added and it adds a really nice friction to the early game.

We're loving this game, but please for the love of god fix the UI issue where text stutters back and forth over newline wrapping boundaries as decimals change.

Overall this is a good game. It gets to be a bit of a slog at certain points, and theres zero explanation for what anything does or what to do, so you are just kinda flailing in the dark your first playthrough. Which is fine, but it can be really intimidating and we almost quit several times out of frustration at our lack of progress. We did enjoy it, but Im going to be clear: the turn off pollution switch does nothing. Its a straight up lie. Im fine with the creator choosing not to have the ability to turn off pollution, but Im not down with being lied to. It made us really suspicious about what other things in the game are lies or at least misrepresented, and Ive definitely found a few. The game messes up very small percentages so you get less than you were promised (looking at you, alicorns,) and theres no correlation between real life time and time in the game. Something will say itll take an hour, but if we check in 45 minutes later itll say half an hour. The mobile version also has a tendency to delete/reset short amounts of progress, even with saving. Its especially frustrating when you, say, trade and get some rare resources then change open windows on your phone after saving, only to come back to everything in the app reverting to how you loaded it before trading. All in all this is an acceptable way to burn some time despite its problems, and despite our gripes with the game we think the programmer/creator is amazing for creating this. We encourage people to try it on desktop first before getting it on mobile, but if you enjoy it, get it and support the creator.

We recently switched to an iPhone and was happy to see this game could be played on our old phone. Decided to buy it so we could still have our favorite mobile game. We had put over a year on it on our old Android. Now Im playing on iPhone and cant get past year 917.

It feels like a journey. The game has a very slow burn that takes multiple years to reach its full potential. Read the wiki and understand the incredible depth of this one of a kind incremental text clicker. There is awesome support from the community of players as well. Some of them have been playing for several years. We have been playing for over 2 years ourselves and our journey is far from over. The only game we might play till we die. -hellwitch.

When we quit the game and re-entry,app will show us the black screen for a long time. Please solve this problem, thanks. Bug.

Its a really good game and we were checking in every night to buy barns and strategise saving when at year 459 we stopped be able to make idle progress and as soon as we left the game the time reset to year 459. We reset time to no avail.

Solar farms didnt unlock. We dont think this is because we did anything wrong. Despite this, we love this game and am fascinated by our kittens (who are happy fascists) descending deeper and deeper into religious zealotry.

Save money and play on web browser!!!! This is our favorite idle game ever but this mobile version has bugs that will prevent you from making any progress and breaking your game. For instance our current game doesnt let us gather resources unless the game is on screen. As soon as we lock our phone or switch to another app all our kittens get unassigned from their jobs. Pretty frustrating when you cant play an idle game the way its intended.

Ive played this game years ago on PC and loved it, but once we got to concrete huts we stopped playing. We bought it on mobile thinking id replay and itd be easier to come back often on our phone. Its the same great game, and we love the portability, but the UI is mad buggy. The screen jumps when resources per second change, and logging into cloud saves made it so that every time we open the app its like a new game, we have to log in and load our save, and sometimes im missing production time or things we built. It blows to wait an hour to cap our resources and when we start the game its right where we left it like no time had passed, or it didn't save the building we spent a ton of stuff on. Other than the app being bad, 5/5 game.

This game really stalls out. We played for 3 weeks and it had almost no progression. Additionally, the game does not save every time you exit the app so you can repeat the same block, over and over without realizing it.

We were playing the game and enjoying it. However, we opened it up the second day and our progress was wiped out. Avoid.

This game is very annoying to play for left handed people due to the layout. There is no option to mirror the layout. Developers this feature would be greatly appreciated as we love this game otherwise.

We love idle games like this! We enjoyed the simple design that hides a great degree of choice and customization to optimize your society. It was shaping up to be one of our favorite mobile games. The part that warranted this one star in our mind was with the policy tab. In it you can use various societal policies to influence the growth of your cats. At first this was cool, until you unlocked more complex policies. The best policies number-wise were in reality monstrous. The fascist policy gives great optimization with almost no drawbacks, but the socialism policy costs a great deal of resources and literally does nothing(it even says it in the purchase description). This seems to be the creators attempt at a joke but it ignores the real world effects fascist governments have had. Also the only hostile species you interact with are the zebras which feels like a racist dig at Africa. We wanted to love this game but the problematic views built into the design have left a bad taste in us mouth.

We signed into our cloud sinc for the first time and the app went blank. When we restarted it it had wiped our progress and we had no way to reach our save files.

If youre looking for an idle game that respects your time this is it. No graphics, no micro transactions, no bs. Pure clicker bliss. Had this game for years and its still fun. If youre looking for something like this but that will las one day check out universal Paperclips.

Another fun clicker game much like Cookie Clicker (at first) but much less mindless. The progression is rewarding and keeps you hooked. Tiers are well structured and just when you think you have reached your limit and done all you can do, suddenly a bunch of new things are unlocked to mess around with and leave you questioning how you even struggled to create old resources while you begin the challenge of making new ones. 5 star gameplay, but needs some UI changes for smaller screens. Impossible to pull up the log on our iPhone Mini and the two-column layout feels quite cramped.

Coming from the browser version the ui of the mobile version needs a rework. All the text is super small and it is overall super cluttered. We would just play it on the website instead.

The UI for the game is broken for iPhone XS Max, the event window on the bottom of the screen hides if you scroll up from the bonfire menu or any menu, also if you go into the event window the close button hides if you scroll up to view the most recent events. Gameplay is 10/10 been playing daily for over a month.

We were tickled to see an update for Kittens, but upon launch our save had been wiped.

Dont buy it, its enjoyable enough but will completely wipe out your progress when it updates.

Ive been playing the browser version for years. The app is great because now we take our current game anywhere. We dont have to run several different games on different computers.

If you love a minimalist approach to what cookie clicker was, and add many resources, you get Kittens Game. One of the best, if not the best game of its kind Ive played on the App Store. We bought it off a whim and we dont regret it. 1.99$ makes up for whatever ads or cash store that would have been implemented by a long shot. Most games have an ad every minute or less and light also have a store, while with this game you get a game. No in app purchases, no annoying ads. Just a plain and simple game that you can enjoy. The only reason we can see this app not getting a 5 star review from all users would be because of the iPhone X support not being available yet the game is still purchase-able. So, if you have an X, make sure to see if the game has updated its compatibility for you. We dont want to spoil anything in this review, so take it from us. If you think youd be interested in this game so far, stop thinking. You will be.

Shrek: "Once upon a time, there was a lovely princess. But she had an enchantment upon her of a fearful sort, which could only be broken by love's first kiss. She was locked away in a castle, guarded by a terrible fire-breathing dragon. Many brave knights had attempted to free her from the dreadful prison, but none prevailed. She waited in the dragon's keep, in the highest room of the tallest tower, for her true love and true love's first kiss." [Laughing] Like that's ever gonna happen. [Paper Rustling, Toilet Flushes] Shrek: What a load of– [Toilet Door Slams] [ All-Star By Smash Mouth Playing].

Why do we continuously lose wood and minerals when Im full on iron.

This is a very well done and in depth game. However the UI is terribly done and doesn't actually property fit the phone :/ There's a lot of changes you could make to make the UI make more sense.

Most idles lose their fun after a few resets but this game always has us coming back to check on these ridiculously named cats.

Wish this game got more love we love idle games and this is one of the best. Pls dont stop updating this game we love it simple but complex we would spend 10 bucks just to get a version 2.

This game is a punishing strategy game which punishes your incorrect decisions by wasting your most valuable resource: time. This high stakes decision forces you to play the game with an attention to detail, and forces investment in an amazing way.

We think that the mobile kittens game could be just as good as the browser version if there was an option to bulk craft resources instead of just spamming refine capnip for example. We hope this is taken into consideration by the developers.

Ive been playing this for 6 years now, and we have to say, LOVE the game. But, when we got the iPhone 11, the notch and the background of the screen was off. Borders were showing all over the place with white backgrounds (we have the inverted layout) and it is very hard to tap on the observe button when an astronomical event happens. Could you try to optimize the game more for iPhone 11.

Ive recently discovered this game and Ive enjoyed it. The only complaint is the amount of clicking has been tiresome on a small phone. Just a hold option would be a mercy for our poor muscles.

We truly enjoy this game, but we spent $2 on it and wish that it wouldnt be so buggy. Biggest complaint is closing the app makes in game progress reset constantly. The game is slow enough already without having to redo things 2 or 4 times.

Appears to need updating for the 11 max. Does not respect the notch and the font is oversized Often loses lots of progress when switching between apps on iPhone 11 Pro. Having to wait and rebuy buildings repeatedly is bad.

Display layout needs to be fixed for iPhone X.

This game deserves more attention. Especially in a world of micro transactions. We love the slow but rewarding milestones you hit with your cats! Its worth every penny of the one time fee.

Best incremental game out there and on mobile. There are a few bugs compared to the browser version, for example: the science Ecology doesn't actually unlock solar farms so future workshop upgrades are rendered useless. Otherwise, 5 stars if all fixed.

We love this game! So much so that we got the app and we play on our school computer at school with free time and our laptop at home. Its a great idler for a lot of fun development. Be wary, this game does take a while to develop. The gameplay is VERY SLOW, but it makes every accomplishment AWESOME! The only problem we have seen (thus far) is that, once you get more buildings, your Refine Catnip and Harvest Catnip button disappear. We cant seem to put them back. To those who know, get the workshop asap so you can avoid this mistake. Otherwise, we love this game.

When we're scrolling through the science menu quickly, it's hard to tell which options are completed and which options are available, could you give The option to hide them when they are completed? We have the same issue with the workshop too. If you implement these quality of life changes we'd be very happy.

Great game, doesnt drain battery, good text based idle game.

This game has depth and continues to change with each reset. Even with minimal graphics Ive played this idle game longer than any other at this point. Be warned, this game is gruelingly long though.
