Description

Lost Frontier is a turn-based strategy game, brought to you from the creators of the Battleheart and Zombieville series’. In a fantasy-western setting consumed by steam-punk technology and the supernatural, can you survive with just your wit and a six-gun at your side?

Features:

  • Story Mode – Play through 24 chapters that introduce you to the gameplay, characters, and world of Lost Frontier.

  • Challenge Mode – once you’ve mastered the mechanics, put your knowledge to the test in a series of 20 demanding missions.

  • 20 Unique Unit types – take command of a wide range of Wild West forces, from Gunslingers and Cavalry to civil-war era Cannons and Gatling Guns. Or, employ more exotic weapons like steam-powered Gyrocopters and Zeppelins, and enlist the help of dark forces like Werewolves and Necromancers.

  • Living Legends – choose a "Living Legend" as the leader of your forces. Each of the 9 unique legends grow in power as you play with them, and promote different play styles. Will you pick your foes off from a distance as Wyatt "Long-Arm" Wilcox, or focus on brute force with the help of ace gunslinger John "6-eyes" McGraw?

  • Custom Games – choose from a variety of maps, set up the rules, and play with or against AI or human players via local, hot-seat play.

Lost Frontier Reviews

This is one of our all time favorite games. A strategy game that gives you time to think. RPG upgrade elements that keep you coming back to beat just one more level. A great setting, and polished graphics. The controls are perfect for the phone or iPad. We wish all games were this well crafted. It is difficult! It sometimes takes us four or five tries to beat a level, but that difficulty makes it all the more worth it. Only two changes could make the game better: online multiplayer (please!!) and allow achievements to be shared with other living legends. Otherwise, this game is perfect. Just one more time we have to say that we love the style. The simplicity of the menus, the cartoonish characters, and the satisfying controls. A very well crafted game. An incomplete sentence.

Well-balanced casual tactics game, super fun to play. Mika knows how to make great games!

We cant say enough about this game. We’ve played through almost all the campaigns and challenge maps and have easily logged 100+ hours. We get lost in this game sometimes and the hours just slip by. The more you learn about each of the characters and the posses and the tanks, how they move and the damage they do on others… Well, its a steady learning curve but so worth the time when you get that Victory! Salute from the game. Of all the PlayStation and iOS games we’ve played, this one ranks near the very top. Purchased this a year ago and still playing and enjoying it. We highly recommend this for someone looking for a challenge with a great rewards system. We hope someday soon there is a Lost Frontier 2 because we will instantly pre-order it.

First off let us say that we personally LOVE tactical based RPGs like this, final fantasy tactics for the playstation and dungeon of the endless on steam to name a couple where you have to think critically about your parties composition to succeed. Coming from someone who’s played these games all his life since he was a kid we can honestly say this is right up there with the best, the only thing holding this game back is perhaps the audience and the fact that theres little to no hand holding, we don’t think iOS is a platform for these kinds of games, we’re glad Mika Mobile decided to bring this here, now we and many others have something satisfying to play on this platform in the way of a tactical based RPG. Our only real gripe is the lack of online multiplayer but its still a 5 star game regardless.

We have been looking and waiting for a game like this for years after the last advanced wars game. Not only is this game mobile we’re so happy that we can have it on our phone to take with us wherever we go and be able to play it with friends (multiplayer) whenever we want. This is possible the greatest app we’ve ever paid for, $2.99 with no in app purchases is a steal for this sort of game. The units are diverse and bring many fun new ideas to mix that we’re all used to in these sorts of games. The game mechanics and rules have been tweaked slightly as well somewhat upping the challenge. We like the new combat system as it now allows for a chance to deal a varied amount of damage each time you attack. The story is good as well. One of our new favorite additions to the genera is the day and night cycle that effects certain units which makes you strategize even more. Some people complain that the levels are far to hard, this is true but they’re not impossible although some may take you a few tries (level 9 for instance) you’re also able to choose hero characters to command your troops and supply buffs to certain units as well. The music and sound effects are top notch and make us feel like we truly am in the Wild West (when playing with headphones). Basically we love this game and if you’ve ever played an advanced wars game we know you’ll love this one to. No other game has made us ramble on in a review this much. 5/5 10/10 100/100 A perfect game for a great price.

From a gameplay perspective, this is a 5* game. Yes, it is hard, Yes, you won’t always get 3 stars on every level the first time you play it. But each level is possible to ace once you level your hero or unlock other leaders to play through. We just can’t give it that deserved 5* rating though because the latest update crashes every few turns, sometimes even failing to launch. Fix that, and we’ll change this rating.

This game is not unplayably hard. If you have trouble playing it, then you are not a fan of strategy games or any sort of critical thinking. You just like getting free wins from moving units forward across maps.

We think we bought this game 5 years ago, and we wanted to write a review because we just got back into it and its just as good as we remembered. Well balanced and interesting turn based play, Tom of replay value, and its not intimidating to learn the mechanics and get started. Im mainly writing this review for the developer to encourage them to keep making this type of content. Its a shame this didnt get a bigger audience but if you happen on it now youll still love it. Also theres no bugs or crashes which can sometimes be a concern with old games.

This game is the closest thing we’ve found. The game feels polished and the story is just interesting enough to give some context to the levels. This game has same device multiplayer which was really fun to play. We did miss a fog of war. We think itd add a lot. Thanks for the great game!

These guys made one of our two favorite app games battleheart legacy (other is faster than light). So buying this was a no brainer. We like srpg’s from back when we were a kid. Plays out like a shining force type game with more disposable characters.

Truly as good as any turn-based strategy game, and with a neat design. We had a hard time around level 5 or 6, but as with any strategy game just had to walk away and clear our mind before starting the level again with a new strategy, which worked first time. This is old-school strategy, where you have to expect to lose occasionally. That just makes it even more rewarding to figure it out and beat it.

We have been waiting for this game for years. We’ve seen advance wars clones, but the way this game adds in the undead really adds a wonderfully different spin. Also, it fictionally uses healing and taking land much differently than AW, resulting in fresh gameplay. Our only frustrations are: 1.) you dont get ANY bonus for getting all 3-stars in story and/or challenge maps?!? At least throw us an extra level! 2.) Can we PLEASE get an expansion at some point? Making custom games just isnt the same as intentional scenarios.

We play a lot of turn based strategy games on our pc, but when Im traveling we have to play mobile games, and when we were looking for mobile games, we found lost frontier. This game blew us away, and this game is a lot better than even some of the games on our pc. The story is great, and it is one of the few mobile games that actually has a good storyline. The combat is really good, as it is simple to learn, but you can do so much with it. The campaign is the best part imo, but the challenge and custom maps are also fun. Also, it is really cool unlocking new abilities for your character as you go along. On top of that, to fully upgrade any character its only $.99, so the max you can spend in the game is only $9, and you really dont need to pay anything as its not pay to win at all. We have never written a game review before, but this game is so good that we had too.

This game is great! Very similar to advance wars.

We love these kind of games (starting with the original "empire – wargame of the century" 20 years ago) and this one is the best of its kind. Several people here say it is too hard. We find the dificulty perfect. A good challenge but far from impossible. Also one needs to do the story mode first. Anyway, a very well thought out and tested game.

Other reviews have complained about it being too hard etc. Especially one review that discusses chapter 4. We just came here to say that they were wrong because they did not read the instructions in the game (it is all explained in chapters 1-4), its not insanely difficult, you just have to learn the mechanics of the game. As far as creativity in solutions, meh. Yeah to get 3 stars youll probably be kind of confined in your solution, but it really is more of a puzzle style game if your goal is to 3star every mission. Not a negative, its just more of a solution based game at that point.

This game is simply amazing, we don’t know why some people say it’s too hard.. But this is strategy game (and not that hard we guess, just don’t lose hope) Minor bugs, game freeze sometimes when you change to another app or lock phone while playing the game but the progress automatically saved :) we wish ally team in the game is stronger lol And anyone know how to beat last chapter? We’re stuck :'(

One of the best strategy games we have ever played. It’s fun, smart with excellent storyline.

Im surprised people arent making the comparison. Some of the maps even felt the same. This is a compliment. Advanced Wars was one of our favorite games. Our only complaint is that we dont think all of the extra challenge maps are winnable with every hero, for example the ones that cant capture structures. Also, it would be nice to turn off the tutorial and intro dialogue after the first time. Highly recommended game. Challenging. Lot of strategy. Nice atmosphere. In-game purchases are perfect. Sequel please.

This game is perfect. Story is great. Gameplay is great. Graphics are amazing. Sound and music is perfect. Love it. Also, Not sure why people are saying this is too hard… We beat everything with 3 stars and wanted it to be more difficult so we selected Ghast and beat it with 3 stars without using the hero or any of the graveyard units. We gotta try to beat it without air units now. It has tons of replay value in our opinion. Thanks for our favorite game on the App Store!

Honestly love strategic RPG games like this. We’ve been following Mikamobile since Zombieville! Great game and story line, those who say it’s too hard obviously just aren’t trying hard enough. We’re not even a heavy gamer and we beat 3 story modes with 3 different Living Legends. Fun and addicting game, only thing we would recommend is to come out with more updates of this game and to be able to disable the tutorials!! Hope they come out with a second game!!!

This obviously takes homage to GBA Advanced wars series but with a western twist. This is a really good turn based strategy game. Graphics are crisp and the gameplay is solid. The AI can be dumb at times but it still is a challenge. It’s worth the purchase if you like advanced wars.

This game is a nice addition to the iOS library of tactics games, do not be swayed by those who’ve rated it one star and just complained about the difficulty. If you’re familiar with fftwotl or advance wars, you’ll feel right at home. This isn’t a bad game! If you have an OCD of "I must get three stars before we move on!" Then maybe this isn’t for you, however, just know that you can progress through the game and grind it out a bit to return and retrieve said missed stars . The game feels fluid and quick plus there’s a good assortment of units and legends to unlock and max out. A solid tactics mobile game.

One of the best RTS games on the AppStore! We wish they added multiplayer option so that we can play online and also add spectators if we wanted to just watch verses the AI. The AI is not that bad but we feel like its the same thing over and over so its easy to expect what the AI will possibly get or do. Also, please update for latest iPhones and iPads. Thank you!!

The game is fine. People complaining they can’t 3 star level 3, clearly haven’t played turn based games before. People complaining it’s too hard in general. Yeah don’t you want a hard game?? You’re paying for it. Why would you want it to be easy….?

We play this game every day at work to pass time. It now crashes with IOS 11 updates, and needs updated PLEASE!!! Our Favorite Game on IOS, and soon it wont run at all! Please Update this Fantastic Turn Based Strategy Game.

Fun game. We just beat the story games all toons max level all 3 stars all the way to level 24 on each, 3 stared all challenge maps with every character which is very hard to do and to our dismay no programmers egg congratulation for taking the time and beating the game.

This game is super under-ratedits great turn-based strategy. If you like Advance Wars, or Warbits, or Fire Emblem, Lost Frontier is totally worth trying out. The teams are asymmetric too, with some interesting differences between the sides. We wish the UI was a little clearer about which units were good/bad against which, but thats relatively minor.

We have played and beaten every single one of Mika Mobile’s games. Their art style in unique. Their ideas always stand out. They make solid and simple games with a lot of depth hidden under the artwork and story. None of their games are as easy as they look, and that’s what makes them a great developer. Keep up the great work! We check up on you on the App Store about once a month, just in case you drop something new. We’re not positive, but we believe this is an indie developer. They only release a new game every year or two. Again, their games are always good though. You are the first and only developer we know by screen name. Keep it up, and we hope you have made a decent living for yourself making these great games!

Love this game. It is a good length game but also has replay value. Love replaying the game as different characters and coming up with different strategies for that characters strength. Wish there were more games like this. We like this game better than Banner Saga- Developer should consider releasing this game on the switch (banner saga already has).

This game has the components we’re looking for. We liked the difficulty- Getting to new levels was challenging, and a nice puzzle to figure out, but it never became impossible. For what it’s worth, we appreciate the storyline as well.

This game offers a really entertaining combo of fun and challenge. The levels are entertaining even on repeated plays, thanks to the star-earning system. Every character you put on the board counts and every round is important. Difficult to put down!

Dont get us wrong this game is amazing but we feel like there could be more as in maps, Troops Etc there is a custom mode but what if that added a creative mode where you can place buildings your self and then play said level but honestly This game is defiantly worth the money.

Mika Mobile has done it again! We love this one, Mika Mobiles charming graphics shine. It feels great to strategize your turns and beat a level. Its challenging but very fair; although some levels get a bit hairy, if you keep a cool head you can beat most on the first try (and we think we make a good number of mistakes)

Was looking for something similar to Advance Wars… Decided to try this one… & im glad we did. This is a fun and challenging strategy game.

Could someone either open-source this or charge us $20 for a DLC expansion (just more maps, minimal effort). There simply isnt anything else with this classic TBS format & perfect iPhone play. Kills us that its just sitting and growing dusty. Our favorite iPhone game so far. We have searched obsessively for a turn based strategy game that incorporated terrain, unit types, capturing & defending space and am really glad we finally found Lost Frontier. Its perfectly formatted for an iPhone screen, is easy to pick up and has alot of depth and enjoyable challenges in the campaigns. Our only regret is that having finished the game twice there is no second version to buy. Well worth the trivial price and a great relief from the litany of free to play junk. Saddle up!

This game does tactical turn based combat the right way. There are no annoying mobile freemium mechanics, just a beautifully simple, yet tactically complex game, for a straightforward price. This game is worth $30, but we paid $3. Awesome!!

Astonishing this game doesnt have a perfect rating. Its an immersive strategy game with a great story provided without ads or in app purchases. Download it and enjoy something uncommon in this day an age: an engaging and fun experience completely free of charge.

This game is really fun. Different unit types, immersive story, and difficult but not impossible. One of the best games we’ve played in years.

Great game. Lots of units to choose from and levels to play. Very polished game overall.

If you like final fantasy tactics then this is a great game for you. Takes some time to master and has a few challenges but is certainly worth the money. You will struggle to pass higher levels until your main character is maxed at lvl 40, so either pay the extra 99 cents or plan to grind it out. After completing the game with one of the three base characters you unlock a number of additional characters and can play the game through with them. Our one request for a functionality update would be the ability to skip the tutorials on rounds that you have played before as there is no need to see them again and again with new characters.

This plays a lot like advance wars/command and conquer. Way better than any other iOS games we’ve played in similar vein.

Its a game like Advance War on GBA. Recalled our childhood good summer vacation with friends. One-stop buy a Full-game, without any in-app purchase or ADs. Awesome graphic and BGM, included story mode and challenge maps. ICloud save state restore supported! You can play continue your save stage on iPhone or iPad, switch easily. Dont worry for lost save process even you lost your iPhone. But, we found few little bugs, e.g. Enemy heros special power disappeared when we restart the game. Unlimited moves in one round, when we click end turn then exit the app from background. And this game had no updates more than 2 years after last update. Even so, its our favorite game on our iPhone. Looking forward lost frontier 2!

We are a HUGE turn based strategy fan and was hooked on this game. Good variety of units and like the fact we have a more powerful "Hero". There is some trial and error to figure out the harder levels but a very fun game and hope for a sequel Only thing on wishlist for any sequel would be to add some cutomized RPG character attributes. Great job Mika Mobile!

Fun game with good music and visuals though the AI is pretty weak and it seems silly you still have to sit through all the tutorial messages even after you beat the campaign and are using unlockable characters meaning you must have already played through all the tutorials already and know how the units work. Also just a few bugs we want to report. Only one is game breaking, though it’s a very nich scenario: -If the final enemy unit is a Machine and Crazy Jake kills it and converts it to his side using his commander ability, the game soft locks as it doesn’t recognize that the last unit was killed and the end of the mission doesn’t trigger, so you can’t finish the level and are forced to surrender. After spending a solid 20-30 minutes on one of the later missions, this was a very annoying glitch to run into. -Crazy Jake’s ability "Better Than New" does not do anything. We hand tested it in a custom game and it never raised a unit’s attack values or (as far as we could tell) defense. We tried Jake healing undamaged unit, Jake healing damaged unit, Engineer healing undamaged unit, Engineer healing damaged unit, and none of it provided the unit with the effects of Snake Oil (unless you meant that as a joke, like how "Snake Oil" is phony in real life, though we doubt that was the intent in game as Snake Oil men do in fact serve a purpose in game). -Nadia Ramanov’s units are supposed to have a 20% attack bonus during night time, but the reverse is actually true, she gets 20% attack bonus during daytime and no bonus at night which doesn’t fit her vampire theming. -Clive Hawkins is supposed to get extra money during daytime, but he instead gets extra money during night time. -I’m just gonna go out on a limb and assume all day/night Living Legend interactions are accidentally reversed, as while we haven’t tested all of them, all the interactions we’ve teated are backwards.

If you like Advance Wars with a western-ish steampunk-ish twist, this is the game for you. SUGGESTIONS: – Fix for map images not appearing in Custom Game – Map Editor and maybe a way to share custom maps.

Fun little game. Creative unit variety. AI needs some major work, they will build non combat units (buffing units like Snake Oil Men) when they have no units left which makes zero sense. But overall it’s still pretty challenging. If they added some minor RPG elements, instead of your hero/units progressing on a 100% linear path, would probably be a 5/5 game.

We absolutely love this game, but since upgrading our old phone we dont want to play it due to the format only being for older, smaller phones.

We love the game this game and we play it with our friends but if you are new to strategy games this is not for you.

This is a great game! However there are lots of bugs that need to be fixed!
