Community Insight:
We've had this forever and still love playing it.
No ads, a good risk clone. The only feature Im missing is the ability to manually choose provinces in the setup but thats probably in the pay version.
Ok we just saw a paid version. Ive been playing this version since it was made. We begged the developers to please update the very last time. We had a huge update and you guys did. Im asking again for you to please keep this updated so we can play this when iOS 26 comes out. Theres a lot of history that we dont wanna go into as to why this game helps our brain in the morning. We know you guys are concentrating on the paid version, but Im asking you to please, please, please update this once iOS 26 comes out. We dont want this app to disappear. This is one of two app games that we play every single morning as soon as we wake up. We hope you guys see this and plan on updating even though it might be a pain, but you have thousands and thousands of people who love this version.. And not because its free, because its simple and its fun and sometimes thats all ADHD brains can handle. Thank you and we hope you read this.
While we agree with the other reviews about the lopsided battles with computer players, it is not as bad as they say. Does the game give an advantage to the computer players in battles, yes of coarse it does. How else do you expect the game to give you a challenge? Do you expect a free iPad game to have state of the art AI built in? Does the computer win battles against larger armies, yes sometimes. Do you lose battles that you think should have been a cake walk, yes sometimes. Should you take that into account and hedge your bets on battles, yes. Be a better player and adjust your play against a computer players that does have an advantage in battles.
The game provides a great way to relax as you seek to ruthlessly destroy all your opponents.
We love to play this game and Im just trying to kill a few minutes. Its fun and a little bit of a challenge. Each computer color has a different strategy. Eventually you learn with the strategies are. But its fun. It has good way to be able to spend time and enjoy. Thanks.
Just like the old days, love it.
This game is amazingly entertaining! We cant believe its been 9 years since we downloaded this game! Still going strong.
We play this game at least 2-3 times per day. Once youve played it around 100 times it becomes like meditation. It brings our mind into a restful state where we have no worries and Im able to relax while waiting for a flight or other odd moment with a few minutes of down time.
Love this game! Simple and fun, and no ads or pop ups.
Ive had this game for years and we dont get tired of it. Its one of the only games Ive kept and its a game we can always play when Im bored and not get tired of it. We wish we could get rid of the sounds so we could listen to music on our phone while playing but _()_/.
We loved Risk when we were a kid this game brings back great memories! Its challenging enough to be fun, Ive had it since our first iPhone and love it. Great job.
One of our favorite apps ever and could use some improvements.
THE go to game. Decent level of difficulty, no ads, 100% free no brainer. Is on every device we own.
With so many maps, youll never be bored. Everything about this is the perfect risk exp.
Note: Today we used a strategy that we have never even considered before. The chips were down very early and we were destined to lose anyway. ( after thousands of games ). We won the very first time that we ever tried it A hint; we had 3 cards that matched.
Ive had this game on our device since our first ipod touch (gen 2) and have carried it through to every device ive ever owned since. Its simple, the colors have consistent personalities, and it takes basically exactly as long as you need to ignore the grunter going on in the next stall. Sorry to offend your delicate Victorian sensibilities, but this is the perfect game for when nature calls. The computer cheats occasionally, and God help you if you let Red get out of hand, but we grew up playing F-Zero and Mariokart. If the computer doesnt cheat a little its not fun. Best version of Risk ever made except maybe the one we had on our Mac SE when we were 8. But that was in black and white (and still cheated).
Our free opinion is this game is awesome. Lux brings three important factors: it is free, it is fun, and it is challenging. First and most important, it is free. When you decide you want more, pay for the upgrade! Either way, the game is great! Second and most noteworthy, it is fun. We play and enjoy this game almost daily and have played it for years. Our Pop love it, so much, he bought the upgrade. Pop and we talked about this game and played it together for years. Third and equally as important to the first two, it is challenging. We find ourselves wining the majority of the time, due to learning how the game plays. However, we must stay resilient to play with strategy in mind. Sometimes, you just get your bit kicked. Our conclusion is this game is awesome, it is FREE, it is FUN, and it is CHALLENGING.
Leaps and bounds better than the official version of Risk. Lots of customization and maps. Love it.
Let us start off by saying, this game is great and will continue to be great (if ea doesnt takeover, that is) Ive played this game for years and no matter how much we play it doesnt get old. We also love how there are no ads it makes the game so enjoyable. Our suggestion are 1: make the game mutable, if we play this game for hours we want to be able to play music instead of just listening to the sound effects 2: make a way to make the AIs turn go faster when they are attacking it takes forever. 3: make it linkable by internet our dad and we love playing this game but we wish we could play it together 4: change the ais strategy its really easy to win if you know what they are going to do and how theyll do it. 5: maybe make a tutorial, when we first started it took us around a week to learn what a tutorial could have thought us in an hour. These are all just suggestions and weather you add them in or not it will still be a great game and we will always come back, just please don add ads and dont sell it to ea XP cheers.
Please make the players(colors) easier to see or more distinguished from like/other Colors. Color deficient people like ourselves, have a very difficult time distinguishing the difference between like colors. The original colors worked fine but now its just a loosing battle. Thanks for making an awesome game.
We have been looking for a good Risk-type game for a lot of years and finally found it. The play is brisk and enjoyable.
Would be nice if some options were added such as select starting positions, randomize what each color team does, simulate faster cup attacks. Great game though, will probably be purchasing the extra maps soon.
We think Im playing this almost every day. We almost always win. Why cant real life be like LUX.
Our favorite game to pass the time. We like the fact that we win most of the time, It,s a little nice feeling and a break from everyday reality.
The game does its job well without the need to push Advertisements or any weird gimmicks onto you. You get to play a game of Risk for free and the CPUs all provide a fun challenge as they tend to act consistently based off of their colors. Red: Builds up its units equally amongst owned places Orange: Extremely aggressive at all points of the game Black: Aggressive early, but becomes passive really quick Teal: Moderately aggressive Knowing the strategy is nice and makes every game quick and fun for someone who needs at least 3 minutes of distraction.
Have tried other Risk like apps, but this is the best. Much quicker to progress through a turn. Not too hard to win once you determine how AI plays, but you can track longest streak of wins. Would be nice if the game could track this plus other stats like quickest win, greatest come from behind win, etc. Etc. Bought Lux Deluxe in appreciation of this nice app.
This is great, fun game! Its the kind of game that you can pick up at any time, and either play once, or continue for multiple rounds. Ive looked at similar games available here on the App Store, and we favor Luxs gameplay & graphics.
We play this every day pretty much.
23 Jan. It works again. Yeah. One day later a second update was released that crashes the app on our iPhone 6 Plus again. We got one day of play before our gaming experience was sacrificed for iPhone X players. – Todays update fixed the catastrophic issue that crashed the app within seconds of start on our so old iPhone 6 Plus. We were able to play a game for the first time in 8 and look forward to playing more. Great game again.
Great time killer. We would give it a 5 star but it keep freezing up on our IPhone. The game itself is fun.
Update: its 11/30/25 and no update. Im getting scared lol. No one replied to our email asking if they will update this specific game! Add a mute/volume option and speed up the AI gameplay and you get 5 stars.
Sometimes gets stuck on the map screen showing the bonuses. Only way out is to delete and reinstall the app.
We have had this game for a while now a started to to notice that the green army always has an advantage with army points but otherwise it is a great game.
We agree with another reviewer- let us be able to mute audio, and let us have an option for the enemy to complete the attack quickly. Fun to play, best Risk clone on App Store, addicting,.
We paid $5 for this game. We play it often. Why are you all if the sudden playing ads for your new games coming out? We paid for it so we didnt get ads.
Perfect game but need to play with online players.
Awesome game play it a dozen times a week…played it last night. Tried playing it today and nothing, title page comes up for about 15 seconds then closes.
We love this game, it is just challenging enough to keep us playing but at the same time it is mindless enough for us to play in any mental state throughout the day. We have just two criticisms that, if fixed, will get this app the best 5 star rating we are able to give. First, this game needs a mute option. The audio is not necessary to the game play and it makes it really hard to listen to music or a podcast while playing. Second, when we attack another player it speeds through the attack to finish in a couple seconds, but when the computer attacks with a large army it takes foreverrrrr. These are not huge changes and Im excited to move our rating to a 5 star with these simple fixes.
Ive been playing this game since 2011 and still like it. We bought the paid version once but when we got a new phone , it was lost, so we still play the free version. We get tired of it at times, but cant find anything better.
Latest update patched whatever was causing crashes. Have had this game for years and enjoy it during downtime.
Fun game but fails to load when opening. Just shows the welcome screen.
Like the app. Have been playing it for years. But it quit working on our SE3 when we updated to iOS 18.5.
ALLOW SOUNDS TO BE MUTED WITHOUT HAVING TO TURN OFF PHONE RINGER.
This is an ok game. A bit too easy.
Or play locally other players at least.
We like the game but it has problems. The developer claims that the algorithms are fair. We would dispute that. The errors become more apparent as the game progresses and the size of armies gets into the hundreds range. There are accounting errors. Sometimes when moving armies, we click on a country with X armies and suddenly the counter says 2X. If we move all the armies, that country now has -X armies in it, and if we move armies back, X armies disappear before the counter starts incrementing. There are also apparent odds miscalculations. Especially for red, we consistently see attacking armies with a 2:3 ratio winning battles. The defending army should win the vast majority of these battles. We have even been attacked by red and lost when we had a 2:1 advantage. This should be virtually impossible. We also see a behavior where sequential attacks on an enemy consistently fail, up to ten times, but choosing another attack country and then switching back resets the odds, and then it behaves normally. A sequence of ten sequential losses is so statistically unlikely that it should not happen. We think that if the developer published his algorithms, or at least the odds equations, the errors would become apparent.
Doesnt work with iOS 15.1.1. Wait for fix.
Ik ur promoting Lux delux or whatever but Im not paying any money on a game. Just make this version a bit harder and Ill play again.
