A Glimpse into MacBrickout
Many will play but few will conquer all 27 levels. Catch falling capsules (Avoid the Red X’s!), collect the hidden fruits and veggies, control the Umphee, discover the secret of the pearl, enjoy 80 minutes of original music, fill the treasure chest (!!), master the bonus levels, get a high score, graffiti the sand, avoid the bubbles and STAY ALIVE! Will you become a MacBrickout expert?
Some fun things to try:
- Try juggling 3 balls long enough to earn a juggling achievement
- See if you can blow up the Umphee (the little creature that lives on the sand) with the bomb ball
- Don’t let any bubbles touch the sand for 3 levels in a row. You’ll get a clean sand achievement.
- Hit the Umphee with an orange ball. He will dig down in the sand and fetch you a coin.
- Catch two clear capsules in a row to make the clam appear

We want to love this game but unfortunately the developer has mistaken annoyances for fun. Things like illogical bounces and over bombardment of bubbles along with being forced to take poison pills because the ball somehow magically ends up in the same spot as the ball make this game more frustrating than fun. We are up for a challenge but when the algorithm is controlling the ball more than you are its no longer a game of skill as much as it is luck.
Your current game and score will magically disappear if you pause and turn off the screen, meaning you cannot stop playing if you want to unlock later levels and making high scores irrelevant.
We paid for these games & the screen was frozen after the first level.
We dont get it there are 3.0 levels and mania levels in the pc version but not the iOS version but we are not in the mood to find and place a register file to play those levels so please add them to the iOS version and this game is up with our top brick breakers which are not counting this game bashi blocks all 5 brick breaker revolution games a brick breaker with a hand drawn art style and unique gimmicks that we forget the name of so you made a good game so please add in the mania and 3.0 levels and update the pc version to 5.0.
We’ve been playing this game since the version 3.0 days. Please bring the 3.0 and Mania levels to the mobile platform. Im sticking to your old 4.2.3 version on our PC because its fully loaded with all the old levels in it.
We paid 4.99 for the full version but all levels past the seventh are still locked.

Well-thought-out game that’s fun and challenging. The more you play, the better you get at it. The better you get at it, the more fun it is. The more fun it is, the more you play.
We remember playing the first edition on our Mac performa 6300 computer and then Mac Brickout 2 on our blueberry IMac great game always a classic love it !!! .
UPDATE! We still think this is a great game!! Now even better. The update allows us to select our favorite levels. That’s great for us since our coordination is not so good. Umphee is so cute he should be on a t-shirt! For those who have had problems with the game-I have asked questions of the developer and his customer service can’t be beat. Give that a try if you have a problem. Do the in app purchase. You won’t be sorry! We’re playing the full version. On level one something happened-don’t know how-and suddenly it seemed like we had every possible ball and capsule plus the smokin’ eye flying around!!! So fun! Then Umphee was bouncing around too and we kept hearing BONUS and "25,000!!" Way, way fun! There are so many little surprises in this game and half the fun is figuring out how to make them happen again. That was a blast!! Get the full version!

We have been a fan of this game for a long time. We are glad to see it make it to the iDevices. Our only complaint, or maybe we don’t see it, we can’t resume where we left off. We hate to have to start over every single time. Fix that and we will give it ten stars. Also we can’t add our name to the highest scores. No matter where we click we are not able to enter our name. Hopefully you are still looking at these reviews. Best brickout game out there.
We Beta tested & downloaded the new release. No problems and a great game. Also, the developer is VERY responsive and will addressed all our concerns when we contacted him. Definitely a must have game for everyone.
We have already purchased the full version, but after this update we now have the limited, free version again. The app wants us to purchase the full version again now. Please fix this!
We think this is a fun game that stimulates brain activity. We give it an A+
We have games on our phone to take up time when we’re waiting for stuff in real life. And although mac brickout isn’t the most complex game, it does accomplish this. It’s very amusing with all of it’s creative little tricks. It’s an awesome old school game! We also had an experience with the developer. We paid for the full version and then it didn’t work. So we emailed the developer and he responded the same day on a Saturday night with instructions on how to get the full version. Very impressive.
The game has been our heroin for more than a decade. We can’t get enough.
This is a super fun and challenging take on the classic game! The levels are really well designed, each with its own theme and strategies. The levels start nice and easy, but the pace ramps up as you clear out bricks. There are a ton of twists and items to explore that really change up the gameplay. There really is a great spirit of fun in this game! The 2.0 version of the game made it even better. Now you can play any level you’ve unlocked, which means this game is something you can play when you just want to kill a few minutes. Or you can always take a run at a high score from Level 1. Plus, the game now has fun and creative music that goes really well with the design of each of the levels. Check it out!
This is a fantastic game and there is a bomb.
We try not to play games on our iPad, really we have more important things to do, but sheesh, there is something about breakout, and this one in particular, that has us hooked. Smooth gameplay (except for our finger sometimes sliding off the paddle), great graphics, and a sweet soundtrack very well done! Oops, have to go play again. :-)
It would be better if there were fewer occasions when the game arbitrarily ignores its "normal" responses to capriciously sabotage play. A gap large enough for the ball sometimes should ALWAYS be large enough for it. It would also be nice to have a way to erase high scores, other than deleting and re-installing it on our iPod.
The logic built into this game does not make the game pleasant in many instances. Yes it is good to have challenges in games but not frustrating challenges. You’ll have to play the game for a while to know what we are taking about.
We bought the earlier version of this game and liked it. But when we downloaded the update, it eliminated the full version we had paid for and replaced it with a very limited free version. It now wants us to pay for the full version a second time. This is stealing.
We love mac brickout and there were no problems with the app, but we don’t like that buying the full version means that we still only have 3 levels. Why should we pay $2.99 and have no benefits from it? Disgusting that a company would do this to their customers and not make clear that buying the full version has no benefits. We also hate that the full version is an in-app purchase, which means iTunes credits cannot be used to purchase it.
We were shocked when we saw this available. It plays just like on the computer. We do wish they add the mania levels and some of the stuff missing.
We’ve been a fan of Macbrickout for years, and let us say that this app is a MUST HAVE! The free version is fun, but for only $5, you really should get the full version. The radiation ball will blow your mind! Don’t even get us started about the laser capsule, it’s EPIC. The original was $20, so this is a steal. Hours of fun, we guarantee.

We love this game. We used to play it in the Mac lab at Xavier university in the late 90s and this is the perfect remake of it. Well worth the purchase.

We started playing this game when it was released for MacOS 7! Yes, OS 7! We’ve loved this game ever since. We’re totally in awe that this game is now available for iPhone! Thank-you!
Wow this game is a blast. We have played this genre before and always enjoyed it but this game is the "Boardwalk" and "Park Place" of them all! Each level is like we have a new game altogether with the variety of maps and gameplay. Pros: – variety of balls, sliders, weapons and special bricks – sound effects have us chuckling out loud. Makes for some funny looks when we play in public. – good for a quick play to get high score and pass time during commercials, or for a solid sit-down and break bricks session. Cons: – minor, the gradual speed up after a pause. We know why its there and its a good thing, but its a little slow to get back to full speed for our taste, since we’re usually really excited to get playing again. Suggestion: – Each time we get a pill or ball for the first time or hit a special block, it would be cool to have a little text alert appear on screen telling us what we just got.
Ok, seriously, just download this game and enjoy it’s glory!! It has umphee!! Carson Whitsett is the bomb!!
It’s a really awesome game but it should have randomized levels.
We’ve played this game for years and was looking forward to playing it on the iPad, but we find the portrait orientation quite awkward. We’re sorry to say, but we don’t think we’ll be buying the full version unless they add the ability to play in landscape mode.
