Community Insight:
This game is kinda hard. We couldnt get past the part with the arcade because the games were too tricky. Otherwise it is a great game. Dont worry we know how it ends. We watched a play through On YouTube because we wanted to see what happens Update: made it past the arcade games.
We love this game, im so glad we found this after 6 yrs of hunting for it. This is peak childhood game. 10/10.
Very good childhood game soundtrack is the best.
We love this game so much!! We have played it so many times! The artwork in this is amazing and the feel this games! And the world that you guys built is awesome!! We dont know if there is enough demand for it? But we would love a second Machinarium.
This game is peak Ive played it on pc and now just bought it here the ratings should be 5/5 stars but they arent so we had to write this.
We found this game after playing Creaks, which we absolutely loved. This one is just as delightful, with another beautiful, immersive, hand-drawn world. The puzzles and characters and gentle gameplay are top notch, but it is the gorgeous illustrations that hooked us. Just like stepping in to a favorite picture book. We wish there were more games like thisstraightforward, challenging, gentle, cute, with surprises and fun games-within-the-game. Every side character has enough personality that they could have their own spin off game (would love one with the hero and his little kid). Well done to this studio.
We loved every second of this game. The hints make it more than simple enough to work out areas where you get stuck which is amazing. The art style is incredible and the music fits the game perfectly. Absolutely worth your time to play.
Its unfortunate that the user rating doesnt reflect what an enchanting work of art this game is. Its understandable that some people would be frustrated playing this on a small screen, especially a phone. It was originally designed for desktops. We played it in 1998 on a Mac and Ive always considered it to be one of the finest games Ive ever played. Our advice is to play this on the largest screen available to you. Not only will the controls be easier to use but the fantastic artwork deserves to be seen in detail. Whatever device you use its well worth playing under any circumstances.
We loved this game though we agree it cant be played without using the hint system. Its a beautiful and immersive game and such a cute story line. The music was also beautiful. We got the little mini games down to about a minute to get each game play page we needed. The only place we got stuck is in the arcade room where you had to score 1000 on the space invaders type game. We never played those types of games, preferring puzzle type games. We had to have our husband play it to go further lol.
We are writing this review to say that this game and its soundtrack is so good, sometimes we will look at the app and we will burst into happy tears of joy, remembering our favorite childhood game. This game is so great, we one thousand percent recommend, and while the puzzles are hard, keep pushing because it is rewarding. We think that Amanita Design should make a Machinarium two, because they already have part of the storyline for when at the end the police helicopter crashes and Josef and Berta get carried in different directions.
This game is an artistic masterpiece. Need we say why? The art direction, the gameplay, the puzzles, the characters, and the soundtrack. This game belongs in a museum.
Brilliant game with beautiful music. The puzzles were fun with a visually appealing presentation. Not too hard nor easy. A unique world where we can imagine living.
Puzzles are a little bit open ended and can be frustrating, but we honestly play this game solely for the art style. Its so cute, the sounds are adorable, and the characters are unique. Such a beautiful game.
When we were around 6-7 years old our mom downloaded this game for us on her computer. We remember getting through all the levels with her (googling some we couldnt figure out on our own) and have a great time. Ten years later and we still find ourselves redownloading it on our computer or phone, and still finding little secrets and Easter eggs around the game. Amazing art style, equally, if not better soundtrack, and overall great gameplay and story can be found within this game.
We have had this game for years but it wasnt till our 11 year old said lets do it together that we started it. We wish they would make more games like this.
A challenging yet fun experience for all ages. Love the art style and the music.
Beautiful game, music, but it lost its fun after so many hours already, we dont think Ill finish it.
Ive played almost all of amanita design games and found this one to be too frustrating. Ive always been quick to figure things out with puzzle games, this one is hard to play. You have to be so precise in clicking and often times repeating movements because its wanting you to be in a specific spot with a specific item. Its unenjoyable because of this. Ive never been able to pass this game, its taken us hours. We wonder if playing on the switch would be easier instead of the phone. We dont recommend this one. All the others have been awesome and so enjoyable to play. Im even getting a custom made box to match the card game thats in Samorost 3 that the mushroom harvester puts in front of you to get the pocket knife.
This game is kinda hard. We couldnt get past the part with the arcade because the games were too tricky. Otherwise it is a great game. Dont worry we know how it ends. We watched a play through On YouTube because we wanted to see what happens Update: made it past the arcade games.
We love the game the the hints are to short and not clear. The game has nice details but hard to use objects like levers. Please make a part 2 with no adds.
It would be better if it supported the backbone one controller pls add the backbone one controller. But the game is super good the graphics are amazing our commend this game and worth the money.
While the music and graphics were entertaining, the storyline complimented the play. However, playing on a Iphone had many drawbacks. Mainly our finger was larger than areas with up to three choices. The graphics just don't fit this platform. We later downloaded to the iPad making things easier. Manu objects were so obscure to the use it was tedious. We found ourselves only staying motivated by watching the action playthrough on utube. Without it, we would have abandoned the game. Puzzles were thoughtful amd challenging. Also, they were way random. Who expects to receive tokens after playing video games.
They took the game straight from pc to mobile without putting any extra effort to make the game easier to play. Even though we have a pro max its hard to see and control. We kept clicking on the wrong place and character already takes years to move. Thats game design but hurts when you do the same thing twenty times.
Thought this game would be like creeks but it definitely has issues. Board game in the bar is way too difficult and the elevator is impossible. Maybe your AI is learning its more fun to win and is just making things impossible. Sorry, wont be trying anymore of these games.
We liked the animation, but the game was more annoying than fun. Levels are too complicated, and sometimes we cant even see the items Im supposed to find because they blend into the background. You literally have to click every corner.
We LOVED this game, right up until you veered away from logic and experimentation to solve the puzzles and inexplicably threw in a timed dexterity one (space invaders), which a lot of people simply cannot do. We might eventually get it, but after a few DOZEN attempts Im so frustrated and angry with a game we were absolutely loving up to that point that Ill more than likely never finish it. What feels like a lazy, incongruous minigame decision killed the fun for us and ruined a beautiful game for anyone without tiny, fast fingers. Boo.
We love the style and the gameplay. The puzzles were easy enough and fun to figure out. Our complaint is the mini games. We never got into traditional video games, and purposely look for games like this one. So to find that we had to play a silly video game just to make progress was frustrating. Having one to see the hints would be ok, but even after playing the game to get to the hint, it only told us what we already knew. There seems to be quite a bit of extraneous info as well. Lines of clues that lead no where. We know this sounds so negative, but it was great fun and we would recommend.
So much to like about this world. Vibrant and engaging graphics. Cute story. Colorful. We liked, somewhat, that stages needed revisiting. Helped connect things. But overall, we found this game frustrating. Some of the puzzles just didnt make sense and so much repetition needed just through certain stages. Once the robot was set to talk in a certain direction, you often cannot stop him and so you have to let the motion completely play out before you can try again. The walkthroughs were great but why have to play a game each time? And some of them were just not intuitive, so seeing the answer was frustrating. That said, much about the world and the games is fun. We just never got that feeling of satisfaction you get from fully figuring something out yourself. If the robot worked differently, and if there wasnt the need for so much repetition, it would have been better. A bit pricey perhaps, but all in all, Im glad we saw what it was about.
The game doesn't look good on an iPhone pro Max, could you make it look like Samorost 3? (Full screen with good resolution).
We'd invite 1983 over and still be bored senseless. With no story to invest in, not worth finishing.
Art is absolutely wonderful but the puzzle answers made no sense. Controls are janky as heck. Looks blurry on our large iPad screen. Had a tutorial basically walk us through the entire thing.
The graphic are really nice but this game really goes no where.
The graphics and theme of the game are awesome. The issue is that you cannot play the game without the hint system which to us defeats the entire point of playing this type of adventure game. Think back to the original text based hitchhikers guide to the galaxy , you had to look around, write down clues, be observant, and actually figure it out. This game is just about the mini hint system and following the instructions. One could never complete this game without the hint system.
The only issue we have with this game is the the fact that there is only 1 of them. After we completed the story we waited for a second one because it was jsut an amazing play through the entire time. For the unique design to the beautiful music in every scene, this game was the best game ive ever bought, but the only issue is that it was over to soon. The story was amazing, each puzzle was fun to play and different then the last, the music was pure harmony. We just wish there was another one.
Why are there no other games as good as this one! Its the best. It has an amazing look and feel. You are completely drawn in to this world and its a joy to experience. The puzzles arent just random things to solve, they add purpose and logic to the story. It was so much fun to engage. Like a really good book. Im just sad Im through it again for the 3rd time.
Its a very interesting puzzle with a story. It does make you think and he very attentive and observ the little details. It does provide Hits for those times when you get stuck, but without spoiling the game. Music and special effects and ambient sounds are superb, specially on our 12.9 iPad Pro M2. We also play it in the AppleTV and iPhone.
If you are looking for a puzzle game that doesnt feel linear and gives you strange and unexpected challenges along the way then this will be money well spent for you. We personally love that the hint system is kept under lock and key because a good game should challenge you to figure things out rather than resign at the first sign of difficulty. Also the music, aesthetics and quirkiness add an additional level of immersion that tips the scale to 5 stars for us.
This game was hard but we loved almost everything about it. The music and the graphics. Love the story.
Worth the money. Hard, but fun.
So us and our friend completed the game together and before we found out we got totally stuck and lost all hope of completing it but when we found out that our friend had it our hope was restored and with a little bit of help us and our friend completed it. Ps we look forward to completing another amanita game.
We first discovered this game when we lived in Korea 10years ago. We had just bought our first iPad to aide in teaching English to our students. That winter there was record breaking snowfall that had the city paralyzed leaving us stuck in our apartment for days. We decided to browse around for games and discovered the beautiful little world of Josef. His adventure to save his girlfriend Berta was so exciting for us. Before the iPad we hadnt played games since Atari, it just never interested us, but the graphics, the sounds, the challenge and the storyline had us hooked playing well into the night. Each year since Ive played the game at least once and get to fall in love with the junk yard and its colorful characters all over again. We hope you find joy in it as well.
Its one of the oldest games we purchased but never played. Today we finished it after many years, and after all the years of being a gamer, this game gave us chills. Such a little beautiful details and story line and we really really loved it. Thank you deves.
Theres a reason this game has been in the charts since its release. Easy recommendation for any fan of point and click games.
Its short, but the music and visual environments are beautiful and the puzzles are a fun mixture of point-and-click gameplay and interactive brain teasers. We recommend it for a relaxing experience.
Loved this adventure. Beautiful graphics and lots of fun and puzzling scenarios. Great sound design too, made us laugh at times. Admit we had to resort to the hints and walkthroughs on occasion – there are only so many hours in the day! Some of the little games were frustrating – we were never good at Space Invaders! Overall, very good value.
Wish the developers make another Machinarium like game! It is a masterpiece.
This game is short but makes up with story and beautiful artwork if you are looking for a fun, interesting, puzzle game this is the perfect one for you.
Ive had this game for a very long time, and have memorized every puzzle and can complete the game in less than an hour. Even though Ive beaten it so many times, its still super fun and Ive yet to have any major issues with it. The art style is great (although a little bit creepy at times) and the puzzles are intriguing. There are a few minor bugs here and there, but overall a great experience and we highly recommend it.
We love every aspect of this game. The story, puzzles, sound effects, music 10/10 for us.
Best game Ive played in a while. Unfortunately there were too many gotchas. The bird on the wire was way too frustrating to figure out, probably due in part to the kloogy way it had to be done with a touchscreen. There were one or two other clues that were just too obscure. But the hint feature is super cool, so it wasnt a dealbreaker. That stupid bird is our only real complaint. Oh, and the organ outside the dome at the end was bugged. We had a bad time with that until we realized it was actually a defect and restarted the game, after which it worked.
