Machinarium Reviews

Worth the money. Hard, but fun.

We got this game back when Starbucks handed out cards where you could get games on Apple early. This game was challenging and super fun to play. The art in it was awesome and the game forces you to think outside the box to solve puzzles.

We love this game – for its beautiful, steam punk/ dystopian picture-book aesthetic; for its quirky humor; and for the engaging adventure neatly interspersed with puzzles and challenges. Our seven year old son and we have worked through the full game and were now on our second go, because its such a cool, imaginative world. On the strength of this, we’ve gotten hold of all the other Amanita games currently on the market, and theyre all awesome in different ways, but this is still our favorite.

This game is so much fun! Very challenging and unique in a lot of ways. Josef is a cute and determined robot who just wants to rescue his girl and escape Machinarium. You are given one free hint for each area, but this does not go a long way to helping solve the puzzle. We recommend playing the little spider shooter game within the guide book in your star menu for in depth assistance, when youre stumped. The little additions of mini games just makes this game so much better! Hoping there is a second game soon!

We have the bundle set for this game package and its one of the best games we’ve ever played. Visually beautiful, attention to detail is amazing, the characters are cute and the puzzles are nice and challenging- with help if you decide you need it. Things that we live for! We normally play on our iPad, but we downloaded Samorost to our iPhone for a change and machinarium to start all over again since we never finished. Botanicula was the cutest thing ever. Hope to see a game or two come out soon!

We believe this is the first review we’ve ever written. There as so many things we can say about this game. Its difficult, stimulating, GORGEOUS, etc. The storyline is a cutesie one, easy enough to follow along to, while the game proves to be complicated enough for any adult to find themselves head scratching here and there. The passion of the designers is evident in EVERY level/scene. The attention to detail, be it Tim flies or colors in the sky, is remarkable. If you enjoy a good puzzle and have the patience to wait for your robot to slowly stroll into the next room (Ive contemplated hurling our phone at moments), do yourself a favor and buy. This. Game.

We love everything about the game until we got the arcade. First, its way too difficult to powers up the machines on iPad. Next, the shooter game is difficult, and we wasnt born in the 80s so its hard for us.

Its kind of difficult for us to pull the trigger on a game that costs money these days. There are so many free apps and games out there that we rarely see any value in it. This game is different. We were immediately drawn to this one by its beautiful artwork and animation. Its like a steampunk-style creation with incredible graphics, a neat little story somehow told with no language, and scores of puzzles that you have to solve with virtually your own brains (though hints and blueprints can be acquired if you really get stuck). Our six year-old daughter and we have a blast huddling together over our phone playing together and working out the puzzles with tiny clues often overlooked, and the story progresses at such a steady pace that you just cant help but get absorbed by it. We would buy this game again and again without hesitation and we would recommend it to anyone.

We’ve played this game over and over again. The art is beautiful. The story is interesting and funny. The puzzles are challenging and satisfying once complete. We’ve praised this game since it first released years ago, and we still keep coming back to do it all over again. Our favorite memory is probably the first time we beat the old man at connect four. It took us so many tries! We did a celebration dance once we finally beat him. Haha!

We love the look and feel of this game. It was challenging and fun. We had no problems with the game on our iPad. Look forward to more from these guys!

We love this game its one of the best but its so short we need part two!

Dont change it its good and its a part of our childhood.

We have finally found the perfect game. We love it because if you need something to do, you can spend hours on one level. It takes much longer the first time through. We would suggest that if you get this game, dont look at tutorials online. The game is way more fun when you have to figure it out. And dont worry, all the puzzles are possible. This game is beautiful, and the sound is crazy amazing for a mobile app. If we could rate more than five stars we would. Great job, devs.

Please make a chapter 2 and 3 please we looked up the part 2 and 3 it shown nothing………. But we do love the game so much so please make more we Machinarium games please.

So us and our friend completed the game together and before we found out we got totally stuck and lost all hope of completing it but when we found out that our friend had it our hope was restored and with a little bit of help us and our friend completed it. Ps we look forward to completing another amanita game.

By far the best game we have ever played on any of our apple devices. This game is so beautiful and the soundtrack its amazing! The puzzles are very challenging too. Great game make sure to buy it if you can.

We’ve had this game for a very long time, and have memorized every puzzle and can complete the game in less than an hour. Even though we’ve beaten it so many times, its still super fun and we’ve yet to have any major issues with it. The art style is great (although a little bit creepy at times) and the puzzles are intriguing. There are a few minor bugs here and there, but overall a great experience and we highly recommend it!

We first discovered this game when we lived in Korea 10years ago. We had just bought our first iPad to aide in teaching English to our students. That winter there was record breaking snowfall that had the city paralyzed leaving us stuck in our apartment for days. We decided to browse around for games and discovered the beautiful little world of Josef. His adventure to save his girlfriend Berta was so exciting for us. Before the iPad we hadnt played games since Atari, it just never interested us, but the graphics, the sounds, the challenge and the storyline had us hooked playing well into the night. Each year since we’ve played the game at least once and get to fall in love with the junk yard and its colorful characters all over again. We hope you find joy in it as well.

Played with our daughter and we both loved it. Its clearly made with a lot of love. Great story, art, humor and puzzles. The controls can be a bit clumsy at times.

We dont know if you remember the game Cosmic Ozmo on the original Macintosh Plus computer from the 1980s, but this game is very much in the tradition of that game. Its very nicely designed and reminds us of a Jan Svankmajer film come to life! Well done!

Great story, great design, amazing creativity. You guys (Amanita Design) are amazingly creative!

We love every aspect of this game. The story, puzzles, sound effects, music 10/10 for us.

Why are there no other games as good as this one! Its the best. It has an amazing look and feel. You are completely drawn in to this world and its a joy to experience. The puzzles arent just random things to solve, they add purpose and logic to the story. It was so much fun to engage. Like a really good book. Im just sad Im through it again for the 3rd time.

If you are looking for a puzzle game that doesnt feel linear and gives you strange and unexpected challenges along the way then this will be money well spent for you. We personally love that the hint system is kept under lock and key because a good game should challenge you to figure things out rather than resign at the first sign of difficulty. Also the music, aesthetics and quirkiness add an additional level of immersion that tips the scale to 5 stars for us.

We just finished the game. Its like a great book in that its easy to find yourself unable to put it down. The story is sweet and the puzzles are just hard enough to get you slightly frustrated. The music is awesome and you will quickly like some of the characters. The main character has some sweet dance moves! We loved the artwork and wish they would come up with something to top this. But honestly that would be really hard to do.

It takes a while to get used to the mechanics of this game. One may be tempted to give up at the draw bridge (near the beginning) but persevere- you will get used to it! The puzzles were challenging but we didnt need walk-throughs or clues. Sometimes the hints were helpful to point us in the right direction, but otherwise it just took a lot of thinking! Variety of puzzles and challenges. Some was logic, others made one think outside the box. Very well done!

This is game is on par with console and pc level games. Definitely worth the $5.00 price tag. BUY IMMEDIATELY.

Soo good game he loves to ecplore and he is so cute we love him :) and Im playing CHUCHEL now :)))))))

This game is short but makes up with story and beautiful artwork if you are looking for a fun, interesting, puzzle game this is the perfect one for you.

Firstly, we’ve owned this mobile game for many years now, and we deeply recommend it. Heres why. The visual art and animations are all hand drawn and portrays a beautiful world of robots living in a giant mechanical city. Clearly the artists were very passionate. The story is short, as is the game. But its a story fit for that world. The puzzles are the one of the most impressive parts of the game. Each and every puzzle is incredibly unique as well as increasingly difficult. The game will make your brain turn. You have to play the puzzles to see what we mean. Pair this with one of the most captivating soundtracks in that Im wholly convinced of this games setting. It cant be described except but having you experience it along side every other aspect of the game simultaneously. And thats the beauty of this game. The game itself. Its a masterpiece in our review. Theres an overflowing amount of art is this game in how every different piece of art (graphics, music, puzzles, story) meshes together perfectly to create a great game. We’ve played it many times and still have fun trying to figure out the puzzles. We would gladly pay more for this game to support the developers and artists. So for this price, theres not even a question. Buy it. Experience it. Why not?

We’ve played Machinarium 3 time so far… Fantastic game, have yet to find another one like it. How about developing Machinarium II ???

Interesting puzzles, great graphics and sound. Had lots of fun playing it. Wish it was longer!

Loved this adventure. Beautiful graphics and lots of fun and puzzling scenarios. Great sound design too, made us laugh at times. Admit we had to resort to the hints and walkthroughs on occasion – there are only so many hours in the day! Some of the little games were frustrating – we were never good at Space Invaders! Overall, very good value.

Its a very interesting puzzle with a story. It does make you think and he very attentive and observ the little details. It does provide Hits for those times when you get stuck, but without spoiling the game. Music and special effects and ambient sounds are superb, specially on our 12.9 iPad Pro M2. We also play it in the AppleTV and iPhone.

In the furnace room the claw thing grabs you you cant get to the shelf to put the key in, but dont get us wrong real good game.

This game was hard but we loved almost everything about it. The music and the graphics. Love the story.

Theres a reason this game has been in the charts since its release. Easy recommendation for any fan of point and click games.

This is a good puzzle solving game. A little hard to be honest , but they provide a hint page. However They literally show you how to solve all the puzzles step by step on the hint page, Kind of takes away from the game in our opinion. But on the flip side there are puzzles with zero hints what so ever, so u have to access the walkthrough page if u really want to move solve them . Also to acces the walk through is annoying , we played that mini game like 3 dozens times. We doubt you can complete this game on the 1st go without using the walk through. Even tho the hints are vague at times. We tried solving all the puzzles without the hints we got pretty far in each puzzle , but we got stuck at the end in a lot of them. And its always for the same reason, we overlooked an item we missed (because items blend in to the surroundings way too good, need to give em a shine of sparkle) we cant recall how many times we walked passed something we needed because it was camoflaged into the background, lol. Good game. Def recomend samorost 3 as well. Puzzles are a little easier to solve there.

Beautiful concept, all 3 games are wonderful in their own way. We havent tried Chuchel yet but Im betting itll be just as good. Machinarium is probably our favorite of the three, but only by a small margin. These guys are so talented, each game is completely unique in feel, sound and graphics. Never seen anything like it. Like a good film, they create a complete feel and immersive experience. Some puzzles are difficult, but it feels like youre actually solving the puzzles (which are often a game within a game) with your mind and not just eyes like most puzzle games. The Room series are definitely worth a try but these Amanita games are a whole different territory. A joy for/in every sense. Thank you Amanita people!! :-)

Best game we’ve played in a while. Unfortunately there were too many gotchas. The bird on the wire was way too frustrating to figure out, probably due in part to the kloogy way it had to be done with a touchscreen. There were one or two other clues that were just too obscure. But the hint feature is super cool, so it wasnt a dealbreaker. That stupid bird is our only real complaint. Oh, and the organ outside the dome at the end was bugged. We had a bad time with that until we realized it was actually a defect and restarted the game, after which it worked.

Its short, but the music and visual environments are beautiful and the puzzles are a fun mixture of point-and-click gameplay and interactive brain teasers. We recommend it for a relaxing experience.

Wish the developers make another Machinarium like game! It is a masterpiece!

Its one of the oldest games we purchased but never played. Today we finished it after many years, and after all the years of being a gamer, this game gave us chills. Such a little beautiful details and story line and we really really loved it. Thank you deves!

It was so addicting and took a good amount of time to get through! Our favorite app game EVER!! This company has such an amazing beautiful streak of awesome games,THANK YOU!! PS: please tell us that new pc game Creaks will be available on here??

This game has great graphics and we love the tone. The puzzles were interesting and generally well done. There are two main drawbacks for us. First, we think the game is too short given its price. Second, we think the hint system, which is crucial for a game like this, has a terrible flaw. Generally we dont care that you have to play a mini game to access the walkthrough. The problem is that it shows you the walkthrough for the area youre in, regardless of where you might be in the chain of puzzles. So you might have access to 6 or 7 areas and not be sure where to go next. Youll have to go to each area, play the mini game, and hope theres something you can actually do there. This also means that you will sometimes bypass the actual puzzle accidentally because the walkthrough for the area youre in just has the final solution to another areas puzzle.

We love the game, it’s super cute, the puzzles can be really hard to figure out what you’re supposed to do sometimes but the walkthrough is helpful. Only problem is we can’t finish the game because the radio in the big tower won’t play the song, we can’t hear it even when we wear headphones, only the background music. We’ve watched walkthroughs so we know we’re doing the right thing but the sound won’t play and also when we go to use the little instrument with the keys outside they don’t push down, and if they do we can only push them down once and then they get stuck there, stopping us from being able to play the notes. Gah! It’s awesome in every other aspect. EDIT: we closed out of the app completely and reopened it, that seemed to fix it. Yay! Ending is kinda short tho we wish they went back and saved that little alien guy or whoever he was.

This is a fun game with very cute and clever animation. Some of it requires more poking around and less logic than we might like, but all in all it was really fun and entertaining. And lasts much longer than the $5 movie you could rent!
