Mars Power Industries Reviews

WOW we are just floored at how great this game is. The puzzles are great, the art is pretty, and we love the subtle storytelling. The game is very intuitive with no tutorials at all, the levels naturally develop and introduce you to new concepts without any text/assistance; including how you unlock bonuses! Some older reviews mention issues or suggestions that the developer seems to have really taken to heart, since we have had an amazing experience. We got this game for free (sale we guess?) but despite only being halfway through we will be finding a way to pay the creator because they absolutely deserve it for this. spoilers From the marks that began to be left behind by removed towers, to the slight changes in the buildings as you finish a level, culminating in Year 40 we were blown away. The Monolith puzzles too are a real treat both as a nod to 2001 and as more advanced puzzles.

Loved it. We want more so casual and fun.

Mars Power, seems like a rad game to us so far. But, Im just very confused as to how to play the video game really. We think Im on Year 3 and it offers 3 power stations to place and one factory it looks like. We place one power station to the left of the factory and it powers it half way. Yet, there is stuff on the ground that doesnt allow us to place a power station to the right of the factory. We can place it only like two spots away but that doesnt help to power the right side of the factory so to speak. And the game just keeps highlighting the restart button like we’ve messed up, but it didnt instruct us as to what we did wrong at all to help us learn. So frustrating in our opinion. So, Im very disappointed and confused with what we would say is a lack of a proper tutorial. The game seems to want to instruct you in the beginning. But only in a very, very, very subtle way. We really have no idea whats going or what Im doing for the most part. We dont need the games we play to hold our hand the entire time. But to us this game is going too much in the opposite direction of that. We know some players find charm in video games that completely leave you to your own devices to figure out how to play the title. But Im not one of those players and right now Id would prefer just a little more clarity as to whats going on in Mars Power and what Im supposed to be doing exactly please. We want to offer our thanks to the developer if they would consider re-working the initial stages a bit and to please give us more of a tutorial to teach us how to play the game properly. Yet, we still would like to also say thank you for the time and effort put into creating this video game. We wholly have enjoyed the aesthetics of the title and it looks like it could be lots of fun if we just had an initial chance to figure out what the heck Im supposed to be doing in the game. Thanks, again, for this game, if youll consider our request for a more explained tutorial and God bless.

Thank God we got this app for free because we would be more than mad if we paid two dollars for a simple power management puzzle game with illogical puzzles and poor item management disguised as gameplay.

No instructions on how to play. Not intuitive. Tried playing for 15 minutes. Will delete after we post this.

Its a nice, fun puzzle game that gave us a few hours of entertainment. However, we desperately want to understand what is going on with the lore. Whats the strawberry supposed to mean, what are those strange black boxes that open portals, what is that black goo, and what happened to the abandoned settlements that you start running into? We want to know, but we cant seem to find much speculation about it online :(

Get all your strawberries and finish the game and see an ending that is reminiscent of the ending of the aforementioned movie. The reviewers who said the game was too easy apparently gave up and didnt play all the way through the game. This is a fun game with no scores or timers. The background music is very unobtrusive and relaxing. The graphics are minimalist and retro – both good things. The Halloween update with the dancing skeletons was a hoot. All 5 stars are well deserved.

We got really stuck on one level, but with a hint from the devs we got unstuck and finished. We enjoyed it enormously. This version of Mars is suitably dangerous, yet the game is not a dark one. We hope they add to it.

The puzzles are at just the right level of difficulty where we feel like Im Smart. Theres definitely a plot going on but damned if we have any idea what it is.

The levels are fun, challenging, and have great art. But we beat it in a couple days and we spent 1.99 on it and we would like to have a longer game if we have to pay for it.

We can touch anything on the top of our phone so the way its set Im not able to grab anything from the left of the screen but if the screen wasnt locked Id be able to.

Theres very little skill or thought required for this game.

Fabulous game here! Playing this cool game is really fun and relaxing. We love all things Mars, and this doesnt disappoint! The gameplay is simple, yet you have to be careful with the way you solve each puzzle. We love the music and atmosphere, this game really takes you into the Mars experience! The game itself progresses 1 year (level) at a time and makes you the boss of Mars colony, providing a steady power supply to the red planets inhabitants. We also love the retro-style 2-D graphics! Overall, this game is a ton of fun and we highly recommend it for anyone looking to have a relaxing time on Mars! Enjoy!

Not to challenging , good time killer . Little to expensive.

Great puzzle game with neat mechanics. The game never gets that hard, but thats fine with us. The game eases in new mechanics throughout the game, and we appreciate the lack of a time element that allowed us to play through at our own pace. Though we have no idea what to make of the ending… :)

Its a simple puzzle game with easy mechanics.

UPDATE: Very much appreciate the update to the app. We enjoyed the puzzles. To tell you the truth, they made us take very unorthodox ways to finish the level which was in itself very cool – makes one realize how the most obvious answer is not always the right one. We digress. We liked the "Kubrick" Ending. We’re sure the story was meant to be slightly vague in order for imagination to flourish – which seemed to be an important part of the game. Thank you for the app. With the update, well worth the money now. Thank you for your time, we look forward to future games and/or further updates. Other people don’t understand the idea of a relaxing puzzle game – hence the lack of 5 stars. For us, no brainer 5 stars. We appreciate the departing from the everyday app of today. No ads (HUGE plus), no competition, no interaction with anyone (kind of like… MARS?!). Is the app the most fun we’ve had? I’d be lying if we said yes; however, it is a fun puzzle game. A few thoughts: 1) Maybe have a timed level on each tenth level. Have something start to kill the spaces. Just a thought. 2) On some levels, you can finish it without all of the pieces. Maybe have that be a secret point that unlocks something in the deeper levels. Some sort of customization? Maybe the generators can look differently? We definitely think it’s a good app with much more to discover. We look forward to it!

We dont know what people are saying about this game being bad, but Id disagree as long as youre expecting to play a relatively slow-paced, somewhat easy, storied, but fun puzzle game. As in many puzzle games, some of the puzzles are easy and some are difficult. We appreciate that none are, as in many other games, dependent on excruciatingly accurate timing or reflexes to complete. Our one complaint so far is this: when we went back to replay an earlier level, exited the game and reentered, our progress had been reset to that earlier level. We didnt lose that much progress, but its still a bug Id like to see fixed. Overall, good game (and, judging by the few of their comment responses we read, good devs)!

The game is fun and engaging. Not bad at all for $2. We recommend buying it, because how much is $2 really? We bought this back in August as an investment for the team to keep working on the game, and theyve really come through with new content and levels so far! We really hope they keep it up!

Finally decided to pick up this little title after seeing it popping up on the games screens with the cute lil art work. Im up to lvl 32 and Im enjoying it. We assumed from reviews that it would be much easier than it is. Im not saying that its hard but we’ve had to think and redo our plotting more than a few times to say the least. Im glad its not too easy! Feels just right~ Im enjoying how it does not hold your hand as we feel like its more enjoyable discovering how things work. Also been noticing tiny strawberrys on some levels so we always make sure to grab those before we solve a level tho Im not sure what their purpose is yet. Looks like they unlock a special level later on but thats just a guess from seeing the levels splash screen. Ill return to finish our review and after we have completed the game and update rating accordingly. As of now we give it a solid 4 as it as been a bit btr than what we were actually expecting. It is pretty much as stated tho. A simple relaxing puzzler, and we like that just fine! No timers or actions that make you feel like you are losing progress or frustrate you, Just a simple discovery and explore mechanic that gradually throws in another small obstacle as you start to get the hang of the last one~ Good job on the game and fairly priced for what we have experienced. Thx devs.

This game was so fun! We loved the mechanics and how the puzzles varied in difficulty along with the storyline. Several stumped us for at least a dozen attempts, and we usually play through puzzle games very quickly! However, we were confused with what the story was? We even completed the bonus level and went back to the pivotal levels in the plot to see if we missed anything and still have no idea what was going on besides something vaguely nefarious (Well, a little more than that from the pictographs between some of the levels and the final bonus cutscene, but we dont want to spoil anything). Also, we encountered a bug. Sometimes when went back to the beginning of the level if we got stumped, our first tower would disappear when we touched it. If we left the level and came back to it, everything was fine, but it happened a lot during the last 30 or so levels as the difficulty increased and we had to reset more frequently. Between that and the nebulous plot, we knocked off a star, but otherwise we LOVED this. Very relaxing and vaguely eerie puzzle game.

We love the idea and it is fun but the game is more about the order you place objects and less about where you can place the generators. We would enjoy it more if we could sandbox it more and pick up and move objects around already on the board. It doesnt feel good to hit the undo button rigorously. Its not as relaxing as it could be.

We really like this game a lot, its a really clever little puzzler. Our one complaint (and reason for the missing star) is the very irritating flashing and shaking of the puzzle pieces. We want to just sit and think for a minute but this thing is driving us batty with its shiny little insistence. It would be awesome if that could be disabled in the options. If that kind of thing doesnt bother you, than this is a five star game, especially at .99 cents. UPDATE: The more we play this game the more irritating the shaking is, ugh!! It ruins what would be a great game.

No clue what to do. Only two places to put stuff. No hints or manual. Cant get past level 3. App support on Twitter? Now we have to sign up for twitter?

We were suspicious about buying the game at first when we looked at the comments> But on every comment we say that the developers really cared about there audience since they responded to every review. It meant a lot so we downloaded the game. The game starts out very easy and gradually gets harder. Really like the game. Keep it up!!!

The description says SIMPLE, EASY and RELAXING . Dont buy this expecting any sort challenge or much thinking . Game takes 20minutes to beat with little brain power used . Wish levels were more complicated but its just not that kind of game as advertised in the description . Wasted potential imo but Im not the dev so what do we know .

Simple, learn the mechanics and think ahead. You can always undo so you don’t get stuck.

We like how even though this is a small and relaxing game, there is still a plot to it. And how it ends to give room for the players imagination. Some levels are hard, and it makes it a bit frustrating to go back and forth and figuring out the solution, so maybe add a hint button would be better.

Im always looking for games to play while we listen to podcasts, and this game is perfect for that.

Downloaded this game while staying home sick from work with a cold, and Im very glad we did. It was relaxing but engaging. The game had a fun puzzle mechanic and we really enjoyed the subtle storytelling. Looking forward to more from this developer.

We thoroughly loved this little puzzle game. Its great for people that want a relaxing game they can easily play in bursts off 4 or 5 minute. Absolutely worth the $2 price tag.

Its an interesting game. Some unique challenges. Just needs more levels. Some of them seem way too simple.

As a digital artist myself this is beautiful. We like the mechanics of the game and the level of it. It is a good way to relax after hard work. One of the best puzzle games in years. We would love to see more levels. We think that this is a nearly perfect game. Keep at it!

Well made and relaxing game but no worth $1.99.

We had thought this was going to be a sim type app, grow your own crops, earn power grids, etc. Its not at all like that. What it is, is its more of a puzzle type game. You have to put the solar grids in the right places, so that the power grids get to the housing, and the purple goo gets its stuff to work as well. When its done right, you get smiley faces. Im already on Year 25, and we dont dislike the game, and they do say easy puzzle. So we do think that may be the reason for so many low ratings, we expected more then we got. Thats why its the four stars for us, we are enjoying it, just expected something more involved. But for the price, we are good with it.

We’ve been closely following the game from the App Store and playing it and we decided to rewrite us review after seeing how responsive the company is we went from being kind of disappointed to very hopeful for the game. The developers seem to really care and this game really can deliver and especially with the careful eye of the developer on consumer response has great potential. Eloquently not beaten by the disappointment they have come back in response to build the game past the current state of the game; which we have seen with other successful apps responding and adjusting the game to entice current consumers further. We do believe that this is a potential 99% rated five star game! Also the game needs a level select to go back to specific levels rather than flipping through 60 to get there.

Like the game but stuck on year 55. Any advice.

Unobtrusive audio, competent gameplay and lack of narrative allow this simple puzzle app to reach the boundaries of pleasant way to fill time other than reading Twitter posts.

Its fun and all but not two dollars.

We have read the comments, and understand the developer wants to add to the game. But as of right now we would not recommend getting the game. Is it simple? Yes. Is it interesting? No. Id wait a bit until its a bit more fleshed out, because right now its boring, with insufficient mechanics to be worth the $1.99. We are looking forward to seeing how it changes and improves!!

Only 60 levels – its fun, but we expect more for the $

You can really tell the devs worked hard on this, and that they really enjoyed making it. However, we do not believe that placing down generators in a different assortment each level is worth the price.

We pre ordered this game and we randomly got it when it first was up to play. We played for a good 10 minuets and knew already that this game was horrible and stupid to play.

Not worth the price. At all. This game would be awesome if it were free. But dont bother buying it.

We got this game thinking it was going to be nice and all but its so dumb :((

This is a really fun little puzzle game that is great for those who aren’t heavy gamers. The puzzles are challenging but never extremely difficult and the story doesn’t try to trap you in the game, making it perfect if you want a new game on your phone but only for a short time. Don’t buy this if you are expecting a complex, immersive story or intense gameplay. Personally we would like the developer to add little bits of dialogue coming from the buildings to make the story much clearer.
