Community Insight:
We wrote a much longer review, but unfortunately the App Store glitched and ate it. So we will summarize: get this game. It will NOT screw you over with unexpected skill checks after a plot twist, it WILL reward a determined strategy, it will NOT subject you to fake choices that affect nothing, it WILL give you a variety of meaningful options, it WILL allow you to succeed by playing to your strengths, it WILL offer multiple intelligent trade-offs, and it WILL NOT railroad you into failing encounters, though you can fail if you don't play to your strengths. Plot is great, characters are good, choices are engaging. If you've ever wanted to know more about the Ominous Super-Advanced Corporations in cyberpunk or urban fantasy settings, work for one, reform one, or ruthlessly exploit one for everything it's worth, buy this game.
We gotta say we really liked this one! After we had put quite a few hours into Wise Use of Time we looked for similar or urban concepts from that bundle thing. And lemme tell you this game is awesome! We dont know when we started but rest assured we finished around 4:00 A.M. And we enjoyed every minute! (Warning: If you have to do something tomorrow dont play this game. Playing this game may cause loss of sleep and or sitting on your phone all night/morning when you fall asleep).
This was so much fun!!! It might be our favorite choice game to date.
We have to admit that compared to the other choice of games books ive read (quite a few), the beginning wasnt engaging. We found it stressful to be in charge of the company but to do so poorly in the evaluations. HOWEVER, it quickly progressed into something amazing once the surgeons were introduced. This book is a wonderfully written story that really draws the reader in. To our total surprise, we were actually able to save the world, which we hadnt been expecting to be able to do (mainly because we felt we made wrong choices from time to time). If youre looking for a great book, check this one outits worth it.
Great game!!! Where is the sequel.
This was a very entertaining game. We rarely ever sit down and read a book because games like this are way better in our opinion. Ive played this through 3 times now and we never stopped the Surgeons from spreading the Earth, and have never kept a good relationship with Robyn Goodchild throughout the entire game. We wish it was a little less challenging to save the world and stay cool with Robyn, but it is still a great game. In the past we played Alter Ego, another one of Choice of Games LLCs games, and that was very fun as well. We are looking forward to the next game that they release.
We rarely, if ever, write reviews. But we had to for this game. The characters, the dialogue, the story – it truly transports you to this other reality. The game lasted us about 3 hours, but we played it almost nonstop (restarted a few times in there too). BUY this game. Out of every text and quasi-text adventure, this is a shining example of how fun they can be. Our other favorites: – 80 Days – Broadsides – Fall of Daria Trilogy.
We've played around 10 "choice of" games, and this one is by far one of our favourites. This game is a clear outlier in its category with interesting mechanics, long-term choices that matter, a deeply engaging story and characters you genuinely care about. If you hesitated before reading this review, put that aside and trust us, these will be some of the best dollars you've ever spent on gaming… Of ANY kind.
We play these types of games all the time and this is one of the best! We really wish they would make more like this. Corporate espionage, great universe, and just a straight up unique story.
The author does not disappoint! Orpheus Ruse was good and this continues the tradition of excellent work from this author. Great story, awesome writing and in depth characters make this an interesting read. As a few have mentioned the replay value may be low on this but the writing and story make up for it. Wirth every penny.
Truly brought into the world and our choices had real consequences. This may be our favorite one of these yet. Great story.
This game is extremely well done. It took us a good few hours to play through the first time, and there is a lot of replay value after you finish. The story does a good job of drawing you into the corporate life, mixing in enough fantasy elements to make it unique and interesting. You balance your company's future with your own interests, whatever they might be. To be honest, we can't think of anything negative to say about this game. The writing was excellent, the characters solid, the storyline well crafted. Well worth getting.
The story line is gripping, the characters charming, and your choices feel as though they truly have a large impact. We really feel as though we've carved out our own story in this game and it's an experience that we feel will influence us permanently–who we are as a person. We really cannot praise this game enough, and that is not undeserved. Thank everyone who took part in developing this; it is an amazing experience.
We have played a number of "Choice of" games over the years and eventually tapered off due to inconsistent quality and the unclear / unfair / inconsequential nature of the choices some of them offer. We are a big fan of superhero fiction so we decided to give this one a try and found it one of the most satisfying and fun examples of the genre we have run into. If you like super humans corporate maneuvers and choice based text games it's great so give it a try.
The best choice of games to date Very interesting and compelling story. Many choices. Loved kt.
SPOILERS SPOILERS Ok so we decided to distract the aliens and we got sent back to the start do we actually get to do this game like this.
Pretty darn good game. Lots of options and good game mechanics. You really have the feel of control over what you do and don't do or spend money on in the game. We've played it 3 times and had three different endings. We bet there may be more. The story is a good one too and well written.
Seriously enjoyable game and written well too. Worth every penny.
We rarely RARELY write reviews, so you know this is legit. We loved the story, it was very fleshed out and choices actually mattered. We had so much fun choosing how we'd run the corporation and deal with the uh..alien problem. Very fun and worth the money.
Very lengthy and entertaining! Amazing fun. Don't hesitate to buy! Worth every cent.
From the overview they provided to entice you to buy the game, we wasn't expecting much at all. When we played it we were blown away by much it how it exceeded our expectations.
A bit inconsistent and out of place at times, however it's an overall great time. We've played it through a few times and don't regret the purchase at all.
Lots of fun… But we have to say, can we change the font size? Also, can we turn off the sidebar in landscape? It detracts from immersing yourself in the story.
Great characters, great narrative, love the game mechanics. The author needs to write more of this world.
We must say that this is now one of our favorite CoG titles (second only to the Heroes Rise trilogy). An immersive read with a slow building tension throughout. And we love the ORPHEUS Ruse (another Paul Gresty CoG title) Easter egg! Great piece overall.
This CoG story is enthralling, well-written, clever, and fantastically satisfying. MetaHumans, Inc. Is by far one of the best pieces of interactive fiction we've stumbled upon. The moment we started making decisions we fell in love with this multi-choice text based adventure thinking about it consumed much of our life temporary. This novel of an app is a nice relief away from the trouble of society should it be needed.
We have almost 20 choose your own adventure books and this is in the top three. Support these guys and keep up the good work.
The story was long and engaging and there were many choices to choose from. Definitely would recommend.
Metahuman is a fascinating glimpse into corporate operations and it is not slanted or biased, which is surprisingly refreshing. We also think that the characters involved were dynamic and interesting! We recommend this to anyone with an interest in super naturals, science fiction or otherwise. Further, anyone who has seen Fringe will be pleased.
Let us start off by saying we have played most of choice of games many, well choice of games. This was a great play through, we felt satisfaction for the actions we took, (compassionate and candor), found love, and succeeded in the job assigned to us. If there is anything we love to see in these games is reward for good actions relative to the character you're playing, and different options in regards to that, not limiting you because you made a choice earlier in the game. Great game, sets it up for a sequel which we could see happening easily.
This is a great CYOA. And amazing to play. The writing was excellent and we can't wait for a part 2.
Very fun and worth playing over and over again.
This is one of our favorite games so far. We've bought most of the Choice of Games and this is on our top five list. We haven't experienced the crashes that other people say they have experienced. This game is immersive, written well, and the characters are well defined. Please continue to make games like this.
This was a great title by CoG. We can say, in all honesty, that it was probably one of their best. The story is quite compelling, and long enough to keep you absorbed for a significant amount of time. We found "MetaHuman" similar to "Choice of the Deathless" in terms of setting. Both took place in a cutthroat corporate atmosphere with heavily incorporated supernatural elements. If that genre appealed to you, "MetaHuman" will be a godsend. There was also a bit of a turn-based gameplay feel to it. As CEO of the titular company, you must allocate a monthly budget. Your performance in this segment affects a lot of your statistics, which in turn play a large part in the outcome of the story. In that fashion, "MetaHuman" was similar to "Hollywood Visionary". However, we feel like this game handled that style mechanics much better. The one possibly negative comment we have about "MetaHuman" is that it's replay value is likely fairly low. Like many oft mother titles by CoG, the overall plot is fairly directed, with only two or three possible endings. Your success at the actual gameplay determines whether you get the "good" or "bad@ ending, but there are only a few branches that the plot can take. Despite that rigidity, the immersion is very good, and you'll be sucked right in. This was definitely another amazing product from CoG.
YOU are the one the story is about. It is as though YOU have received a great opportunity to grow a company in the best way you see fit. YOUR choices matter. This game is fantastic.
We love this game! Really one of the best CoG has to offer.
One of the best choice of games game we have played great story can multiple time.
It's been awhile since we played a game like this. It immediately pulled us into the story line and we couldn't put it down until we fished our play through . You won't regret getting this game. It's worth every penny.
The story is excellent: pacing, characterization, plot, and just overall lovely writing. Highly recommended, one of the best CoG we've played yet. On a side note: we haven't had the problems mentioned in early reviews about bugginess.
We've been an avid player of these games for a couple of years now. This game has easily stolen the place of Hero Project as our personal favorite that has ever been written. Well worth the money and well worth the time.
It's pretty fun. It's like a really expanded lifeline.
Definitely worth your money! The game is engrossing from the start, and your strategic investments can really pay off later in the game. The plot takes lots of unexpected twists and turns and you have lots of meaningful choices the whole game through.
Normally this kind of plot wouldn't interest us, but we ended up really liking the story. If you're a big fan of magic/science fiction oriented stories you'll like this.
Every time we try to open up the app it exits out automatically within 4 seconds. Please fix this problem.
This game was well written and engaging. In terms of comparison, it is probably in the upper half of all choice of games, but definitely not as highly rated as the Hero's Rise trilogy or others. It is a interesting and intriguing plot with many choices but no matter the options the endings are basically the same. So it is a good game but not amazing. Buy it if you are interested in the feeling of running a corporation and a whole mess of confusing and conflicting magical, science mumbo jumbo.
We're sorry, we want to like this game because it's so well written and it does have some interesting choices and characters, but we can't. It is just so boring and it doesn't hook us in at all. The game boasts three romances, in reality only two if you identify as female, 1 if you are heterosexual. The only heterosexual is a complete jerk to put it lightly and instead of doing something interesting with maybe a poly relationship, it's just a guy who has his cake and wants to eat it too. Can't recommend it.
The plot sound a incredible, but we won't know because it keeps crashing! We've deleted and reinstalled, shut down our phone but it just keeps crashing. We're rarely disappointed by Choice of Games, but this issue must be fixed.
Can we assume that with a many people having issues with the app actually starting and/or crashing that this will be fixed since we paid $2.99 to play? We loved the description and we're a big fan of ChoiceOfGames, we just wish we could play this game since we paid for it.
Just adding to the pile here, which should tell the moderators something along the lines of "fix this game".
Won't open, tried reinstalling and deleting other apps to make space.
