As soon as we went to the app store and saw "Metal Slug 2" we got sooo happy!! We love metal slug series we grew up with these games please please make more! Like Metal Slug XX or Metal Slug 5!! :D pleaseeeee SNK Playmore!!
Although MSX is the better game, this level of quality is definitely worth the price for fans :) Rocket lawnchair!
This game has to be the best that came out so far we really really hope you can release metal slug XX that was our favorite game of all and if we can have it on our iPhone it would make us so halt we could die.
After buying metal slug 3 we decided to buy this right away and it’s good.
If u have the iPhone 5 and u see bars on the side go to the option and u can change the screen size and has filter on the display option.
We grew up playing these games in the arcade good to have them back! (Worth the $) Only thing we complain is the controls guess you have to get use to them but still… *Wish the iCade docking stations or similar ones were compatible with the game, would make it great!!!

This game is a must have if your a Metal slug fan. It’s optimized perfectly for the iPhone 5 and we spend countless hours playing this! Definitly recommend this!
We have to admit we never really played metal slug as a kid so it was new to us but these games are REALLY fun! We got all of them and have been playing them since. We noticed they seem to keep playable value a well as we have played them many times over.
Like the other two games on the App Store, this one is an awesome handheld port! Hope to see the rest of the main series on the store as well! Metal Slug X should be on the here soon, as well, the definitive "Director’s Cut" to Metal Slug 2!
Great just like all the other metal slug games. The more you add the more we will buy. Ps. If you want doom2 get the app called gameception, play all wads u want.
Though you may be looking for a game that has guns, if you like a challenge and like retro games, metal slug 2 is for you. It may be pricey, it is worth it, giving you challenges and a real boredom killer. We recommend this game to everybody!
WHen we were a kid, we play this game a lot on the Arcade. Our childhood was AWESOME!!!!
An exciting side-scrolling shooter with fun weapons and power-ups, detailed and colorful levels, and tons of challenging enemies, including epic boss battles.
This game is a darn near PERFECT port. But first let us talk about the Uneducated Whiners that almost discouraged us from buying this game. Know what your talking about! This game LOOKS perfect for an INTENTIONALLY pixelated nostalgic purpose game port… It is supposed to look pixelated you dummies! Nobody want this to look iOS graphics-ish… If they made a Metal Slug part 9 then its ok if the graphics were updated as it is a totally new game. Second… The controls are PERFECT…. Stop comparing it to an actual Joypad…. This is a touch screen with VIRTUAL controls… And they do a pretty good Job….. Want more realistic? Get the Logitech Joystick for iPad….. Its a suction cup joypad that works great…. In some cases you can use two of them, one for control and the other for fire buttons if the buttons are aranged in a North South East West way and resized like in King Of The Fighters 97 for iOS. This game has ALOT of EXCELLENT Video display options to make it look like you were really playing on a 720×480 or perhaps 352×240 monitor….. Which is EXACTLY what this game was running on and IS supposed to look like! So the graphics DO NOT need updating dummies! ThIs isn’t supposed to look like Rayman… As a matter of fact, we would be quite upset if it didnt have the scanlines and Video blur options…. As a game that was made to run on an old CRT streched to fit a 1024×768 iPad screen WOULD indeed look like crap. Back to our game review… It’s GREAT! Our Hardware (iPad 2 64gb WiFi + 3G Verizon with iOS 6.1.3) everyone should always list your specs when reviewing the game so the company knows how to better respond. Our recommendations to SNK 1. Change the main menu of all your iOS games to look like the original Neo Geo ones…. The currently High resolution menus give High hopes to people to expect the game to look like the Menus, and the sudden shock from super clear Retina gfx in the menu to sudden Pixelized good ole CRT graphics can be confusing. 2. Add more options to the scanlines and Video blur for Retina Display owning iOS users….. Ad the ability for the scanlines to be Double Thick so that it again looks like a CRT… Currently the scanlines are real tiny and compressed making the Retina version looking different and hardly as noticeable as non Retina Display iOS devices. 3. Add options to resize and make more visible or more transparent to the controls…. Such as in King Of The Fighters…. Do this to all your games all across the board as well as add iCade support if not already implemented and the supposed new iOS7 joypad to be released. 4. It wouldnt hurt to put the Neo Geo logo when the game starts instead of that SNK Playmore which seems degrading. That Playmore should be placed somewhere else and less conspicous… Not that the name is bad or anything… But Logo recognition is extremely important. To everyone who has the same specs iPad as I… Get this! Especially if you LOVE 16 bit console games with CRT scanlines. Best games we have bought for iPad so far: King Of The Fighters 97 and Metal Slug 2.
… Yet again. MS2 lives up to DotEmu’s previous standards, and they even made improvements to the original arcade version! (regarding slowdown) The graphics are great (4:3 is the true aspect ratio) and Retina if you disable the smoothing/filtering. With so many iOS games suffering from awful touch controls, the controls for MS2 are spot on. Fantastic port!
Thanks for completing the trilogy by uploading Metal Slug 2. Now Im not sure why the game were released on ios 3, 1, then 2, but this game is awesome. Dont listen to anyone who says its aged because while by technical mean other games have better graphics, this game just looks much prettier, is hilarious, and just so much fun to play.
This is some good stuff brings us back to the arcade days.
We bought Metal Slug 1 just to see how it played on our Ipad 2. It played and looked great. We bought Metal Slug 2 (this one) and Metal Slug 3 and Metal Slug X. All were really well done. We’re so impressed with all of them. We’ve had no issues at all.
It has its drawbacks. It is a little overpriced and it doesn’t have the most reliable controls. But other than that, it is a great port that every fan of metal slug should get.
This is a great game and you should buy it but the control pad, thing, whatever makes the game so hard :/ but hey it just might be me.
It takes a while to get used to the controls. It’s kinda hard to move left and right. But overall it’s an awesome game!
IPad 4 iOS 6.1 Can you fix the buttons slow respond also bugs in mission 5 the last boss when you left the tank with full energy bar is not showing anymore in the screen. Also fix bugs when you press the same time button of shoot and grenade is not respond when is a lot of enemies. Please fix it Thx. Please release the other versions all of them will be cool have all collection in iOS market :D Thx and bye.
We loved playing Metal Slug at the arcade and we thought we would relive some of those moments now that it is available at the App Store. Sadly, the game shows its age and we wish we did not try this. The nostalgia was nice but there are lots of games like Apocalypse Max and other new games in the same genre that are much much better.
The jump button works when it feels like it and the directional control is horrible. The game looks great and is a direct port of the original but it is unplayable on the iPhone. Very disappointed.
This was a great port and can be very fun to play for anyone who played this game before but the controls ruin this game. They need to do something about the sensitivity because there has been many times where we’ve fallen to our death because the game doesn’t sense that we are pressing jump.
D-pad controls are only okay, particularly when shooting diagonally. Hinders the run and gun action that makes this game so fun.
It is very difficult to play this game with the current control set up. We grew up playing this series of games in the arcade and we truly hope they fix the buttons on the screen!
The app is so laggy on our ipod touch 5th gen when we play co-op.
Stretch to fit 16:9 aspect ratio looks awful and the joy stick control is nearly impossible to use. This is not the metal slug 2 we know and love.
Can’t throw a grenade with the game handle.
We’ve been running into a problem when we reset the virtual joysticks. We clicked reset and now the joysticks are way smaller than before and theyre stuck like that. This is the worsts glitch ever, click reset and now you cant play because the size of the joystick wont go back to normal.
ITS BEEN ALMOST A DECADE WHATS SO HARD ABOUT FIXING THIS PROBLEM??

All we have seen for now, is really entertainment and awesome, we just would recommend to you(NSK) to allow more metal slug games here in the App Store, because is we see it avaible we will obviously buy it inmediatly, beautiful games.
Theirs a problem of A and C button of the control of its im using a 8 iPhone but still love this game.
Tried to keep laying, but it was flawed with bugs as well as clunky and whimsy touch screen controls. Let us know when the next update helps fix the bugs.
