Dive into Mr Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon

CottonGame’s empty-headed protagonist is back for a new round of puzzle-filled fun in Mr. Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon!

Brought to you by Shanghai publisher Lilith Games, this indie point-and-click adventure will take you back in time to explore the chaotic maze of human life that was Kowloon Walled City.

Cyberpunk elements add a touch of the fantastic to the world’s memorable characters and realistic scenes. Everyone has a story to tell and a mystery to unravel–are you up to the challenge?

When it was finally demolished in 1993, Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City was the most densely populated place on the planet. Fifty thousand people lived and worked in an area the size of an average city block. A patchwork network of transportation systems, crude but efficient, connected the City’s labyrinthine passageways and buildings.

The Walled City gained infamy as a lawless, densely populated ghetto, a jungle of dilapidated concrete and grimy neon signs echoing with the thunder of jet engines flying low overhead. Many historical accounts have focused on the darker side of life there: the gangs that ruled in lieu of police, the damp, sunless apartments whose inhabitants ate and slept alongside rats and cockroaches.

Yet life in Kowloon was not without virtue. Most of the City’s residents made an honest living–working as dentists, shopkeepers, mechanics, etc.–and were intimately connected with their communities. They recognized the deficiencies of the place they called home, and they fought tooth and nail to give their children a chance at a better life, but they were not ashamed to live in the Walled City.

Today all that remains are the glimpses of that marvelous existence captured in old newspaper clippings, home videos, and photo albums. But the City still lives in the memories of its former residents–and in the imaginations of cyberpunk fans worldwide. Mr. Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon brings these memories to light once more…

Find out what gamers are saying about Mr Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon:

There is so much trial and error that you end up running around in circles. Not a lot of rhyme or reason, which makes the game frustrating and not so fun.

This was a fun sequel with good characters, puzzles of just the right difficulty, and a charming callback to the first game! Really enjoyable.

We liked this game so much!! The graphics are amaaaazing we liked every detail in all places. The puzzles are interesting. Please make more games.

Soooo good. The puzzles are the perfect level of difficulty. The hand drawn backgrounds are a delight!

We’ve being playing all of your games, and love all of them. Challenging and entertaining!

Not sure why this game or this developer doesnt get more reviews but it prompted us to write one-these guys & this game deserve it! First, a major shout out to this historic depiction of Hong Kong culture! The seedy or sometimes desperate characters who are just trying to do their best to survive, the gorgeous intricate artwork, the funky locales & back alleyways of the Walled City were mind boggling. This game took time & great effort to make! The soundtrack from the onset pulled us in & who knew a cartoon pumpkin headed protagonist could be so compelling! The gameplay was intuitive and the puzzles were fun and sometimes challenging, yet not so difficult that we couldnt figure it out with a little head scratching. Thank you Cotton Games for this beautiful piece that pays homage to a time in Chinese culture that may otherwise be forgotten. It prompted us to explore other Cotton Games (for which we are now a FAN!) as well as learn more about the Walled City of Kowloon. Cant remember the last time a game prompted us to learn more about history!

We really enjoyed this game it has beautiful artwork and was very distinctly, immersively Hong Kong. Loved the Chungking Express reference! Incredibly charming.

Wow, its refreshing to play such an interesting game with wonderful and graphics and interesting story. Id give it 1000000 stars if we could. Please make more games like these!

Very well-made game! All the scenes in the game are beautiful enough to be used as a wallpaper. The storyline is amazing and we could really see the culture and stories behind each characters. This game kept us up all night, amazing!

Very entertaining and clever game. Not overly dificult or too easy, just rght. We have been in Kowloon and this game captures the feeling of it.

May we just say out loud? This game is super delightful and fun with cool puzzles to baffle, stepped levels to conquer, unique personalities to encounter and a truly cool reference back to the original walled city. We remember visiting the city in 1991 before it was demolished and have been fascinated how long it lasts in memories…

We enjoyed every second of this game!! Wish it was longer but daaaamn was it worth it.

Enjoyed this game. From the artwork to the storyline-with a bit of history thrown in. Puzzles werent to challenging . Wish it were longer!

We really enjoyed playing this game. We had never played the first and didnt know what to expect. After the first chapter, we started to understand the game play and get the hang of it. We needed to use a hint a couple of times, (my iPhone pull-up bar at the bottoms of the screen almost blocked them), mostly enjoyed figuring everything out myself! Very enjoyable game!

Really enjoyed it, relaxing and challenging at the same time.

We dont review ever but this game is addicting, beautiful, and amazing.

Honestly, a very tasty way of exploring the concept of the city. We hope to see more adventures in HK because there are so many other places to travel. Protip, please think of implementing VO. We can imagine there will be many creative ways of making the characters speak.

Really enjoyed the gameplay. Challenging, but not extremely difficult. Its right in the sweet spot. We also feel it was an adequate length for the price, which is uncommon. God bless:)

First time finishing a game we downloaded on our xsmax (I very rarely play games on our phone). Its really fun and we enjoyed the artwork and the difficulty of the puzzles. Please keep creating more games that are like this where the character can walk around interacting with ppl and solve puzzles. Btw, kowloon wall city was a very good theme and the game did a pretty accurate representation of its context and artwork.

Another great game that is fun and somewhat challenging. Love the looks on the faces of the characters, and what a crazy bunch they were, yet realistically captured! Looking forward to the next installment!

It sometimes blocks the important clues, such as the movie ticket in chapter 1.

An interesting and generally well done game, but we ran into a bug that forced us to use a walkthrough. After getting the instructions from the pharmacist there is now way to repeat them. All others characters repeat their instructions when asked but not him. We find the solution, for which we had to use a walkthrough, kind of finicky to manually get right – the controls are not too clear. Other bugs that are less important are that characters routinely forget if they have already given Mr Pumpkin something or already received something from him and repeat things inappropriately.

We love this game!! We hate that its so short though :(. It wasnt too challenging, but it served its purpose and we will definitely buy the next one if made.

We love isoland games. Was hopping this would be similar. Its close but so issues. We honestly hate the puzzles bc some are so picky that it seems like its not the right solution when it is. Becoming frustrating and impossible. We cant finish it bc we just dont like the puzzles (some are just random and senseless) and the arcade games blow and u cant pass. Lots of running back and forth with the hopes the items work. Had to find hints too.

Overall we enjoyed the game, but it is too simple. We are a big fan of puzzle games. Mr. Pumpkin 2 is similar, but different from Mr. Pumpkin 1. In the second version there were less puzzles. The best puzzles of the game came after the ending credits, where you find yourself back in the bedroom of Mr. Pumpkin 1 for a round of puzzles. Mr. Pumpkin 2 is more of a scavenger hunt where Mr. Pumpkin 1 is more puzzles. We found that 1 was better than 2. The scavenger hunt in 2 was simplistic… Way too easy to connect the dots. Rather than figure out what characters need, they tell you. Like, go find our remote control. Way to simple and easy, not challenging enough. If they do a three, they need to have more puzzles and a more challenging scavenger hunt.

Love this game! But when we got to the bonus level at the end, we are unable to get the safe in the attic to open. We typed in the code from the clues and it will not open! We have looked up walkthroughs for it to make sure, and it just will not accept the code! Ugh….

Cant get to part 3 because the bus is missing in part 2?

We must be missing something because all these reviews are great, and we love these types of point and click adventure games, but this one made absolutely zero sense and was very difficult to navigate.

We cant pass the circuit board in level 7 (dentist) we are doing exactly like the walkthrough by STEAM and it wont let us pass, very angry!!

Best series in gamesown every one that cotton designs. Love them! We cant play this because it wont accept the correct item. We bought the hint, just incase we misunderstood. Nope. Right answer, just refuses to accept it. Please fix… We will update. Surreal Amusement game (separate app) is our favorite!! Love that, too! That works perfectly!

We absolutely love this game, esp if you looking for som adventurous brainy game! We are a 90s kid growing up in Hong Kong and heard a lot of the stories of that are. Everything in this game is basically part of our parents childhood! This game perfectly depicted the other side of Hong Kong back in the 50s and 60s or even the 70s. Hope you guys can create more games that are similar to this!

We have played each game this developer has put out and this has to be one of our favorites!! Dont pass this game up! They put a lot of love and creativity in each game they put out. If you ever need a beta tester , we will help!

We played this game for literally HOURS. Long game, excellent puzzles, cute graphics, and engaging storyline. Absolutely one of our favorite games and developers. Highly recommend this game!

Absolutely must for iphone. Excellent music in game also.

We wish it were longer :( we finished the game in a day.

We knew we would love this game! The arts. The stories. The puzzles. We are as in and a quarter Chinese from our mom. We recognized everything in this game as we saw them when we were little either in person or in Chinese tv shows or drama. We wish the game wasnt so short. It is different and definitely brought back the nostalgic child memories in us out. We love Asian theme games like these. Praying and hoping and giving our support to creator to make more games like !

We are using iPad. Chapter 5, using hammer to break the wood window, the tool menu is beyond the visible screen. It is very tricky to choose the hammer. Chapter 5, the last picture of everybody is not easy to click on. Thanks for the beautiful game. We will buy all your future games.

Good story and puzzles. Very much enjoyed the game!

This is the first time we liked a game so much that we felt the need to write a review. The story is amazing as well as the animation. The music is super cool and original. We loved how it was an experience with twists and turns and the ending was unexpected. 5 stars all day. We wish there was a sequel to this because it is by far our favorite game.

We’ve played and loved all the games by this developer, but this one has to be our favorite. So much creativity and detail, and just the right amount of challenge without being frustrating. There are hours of gameplay here, and just when we thought it was over, another chapter started. Cant wait for the next one!

Game was fun, but the puzzles were much easier than the first game.

Love this game but the drawing feature is off. When we go to draw its like below our finger? Also kinda frustrating you have to keep talking to the same ppl multiple times to get any answers.
