Ive put many hours into this game and have enjoyed all of them! There is so much to do and the progression is very rewarding. We have played this game multiple times through and absolutely love it every time. Incredible replay value. It has been consistently updated with new and engaging content, and recently a big update happened with promises of continued updates. This game is very fun and rewarding and we would recommend everyone give it a try.
Im happy to be able to play (start over), that the game still works. Only game we can get to enjoy on our downtime like this; music is sorrowful and soft. The dialogue and storylines are fantastic; flexibility in who you want to build; multiple endings, etc. It is hrs of play we think. The artwork is still beautifulIm in a rough patch in our life and this game is soothing us in a unique and healthy way. Like creating a book with characters you can literally imagine and feel for because every one has a different story and well put scenesPlus the combat is very engaging, we find the 8 party system to be challenging but constantly allowing change to mix it up. Our favorite single player game on the app store. Its definitely a real game, worth your downtime. The gacha part scratches an itch but if you do a brief look at online communities, you can tailor whichever into a party of your custom choice. Ill always suggest this game. Im used to multiplayer and this one still plays better.
Ive played these types of games since FF Record Keeper and Puzzles and Dragons came out over ten years ago. Ive never been a spender, usually happy to give a reasonable amount if we think the developers earned it. This is not a normal gacha game. This is AAA story and music, easily on par with OCTOPATH Traveler 2. In fact, we think the gameplay balance and party construction is much more engaging here. Truly feels like a premium game. The gacha element is ENTIRELY OPTIONAL. You do not need to spend a dime to play these excellent, massive single player storylines here. It just takes strategy and understanding of game mechanics. We paid $25 and that was after deciding this game was easily worth that. This is a AAA experience and not predatory in any way. Enjoy it and if you want to support the devs Id honestly encourage it because theyve done brilliant work. 10/10 phone game, 8.5/10 if this was a game on Steam paying full price.
This might be our second review ever, this is hands down the best mobile game Ive ever installed. Packed with content to keep you entertained and playing. The gatcha system isnt intrusive and the free currency is generous enough. Give this a try if youre into jrpgs and loved the octopath games.
This is by far the best FF type game in our opinion. But there is one issue, cant get Wi-Fi connection. Our phones network internet works, other games are fine. This game wont stay or reconnect to our Wi-Fi. Help.
NetEase: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PUT MORE MONEY INTO LOCALIZATION. We love this game, but all the new content feels like it was sent through google translate when being translated. We would give this five stars if you would do better localization, and we know many other players would like you to do better than your currently pathetic localization efforts. We had played the square enix version up until one of the last chapters of the final story and we loved the game, we are very happy about the quality of life updates and the new storyline this app will bring, however we lost our data in the transfer. Thankfully the support team has been patiently helping us.
Same game as the other app, which ran for approximately 2.5 years. New company running operations is clearly using AI for a majority (if not all) of new content translation which does diminish the experience. Theyve addressed it, though, so hopefully that fixes soon. We appreciate the QOL updates and cheaper rubies. Passes and special supply under activity are good purchases for those coming from the last app. Must play for all Octopath fans.
Id put 5 stars, but doesnt work on our iPad Pro m4. Network Error. Works great on our iPhone pro and works on our older iPad Pro. Please fix.
Is it fun to play, yes. Towards the end, it becomes just a cash sink that loses all appeal. We have a lot of hours in the game, but all the god characters that are worth pulling are randomly drawn at such a low rate it is apparent that the only way to pull them is to sink a lot of money into it. If youre going to have a rate that you have to pay for, remove all the low level characters that are at such a high rate in every other pull. The other thought is to have one that has all the characters that were only for a limited time. We were never able to grab A2 or O Odin, and its likely unless you bring them back that we never will.
Putting this under reviews as we currently have no other way to contact support. Ive been playing COTC since Squeenix was in charge of the app, and while Netease has done a great job implementing faster gameplay and quality of life improvements, the translation and localization of new content are awful. Whether or not all of it has been translated by AI we have no idea, but consistent syntax, grammar and spelling errors make the new content a lot harder to enjoy. We will not be making any in-app purchases until more effort and love is put in to making the localization less jarring.
PLEASE fix the English translations in the game! OCTOPATH is a dialogue heavy series so the numerous typos and grammatical errors are very noticeable. We know netease is notorious for abandoning projects, but at the very least have the game be readable.
The game plays wonderfully! Personally transfer went smoothly and the gameplay is fine. Our issue comes from the localization coming from this new team taking over. The side Solistia thats been anticipated for so long by us and many returning players has such a jarring translation. Typos, choppy words, bad punctuation and grammar that make the localization just feel soulless, especially in comparison to how smoothly the Orsterra translation has been. Even Partitio doesnt sound like himself? Theres indications of ChatGPT being used and frankly its disappointing. This is one of our favorite games, Octopath is a wonderful series and we had so much fun progressing through COTC partially because of the story. We really want to rate it 5/5 but this is just upsetting.
Cant play for more than a minute without it saying connection error 10000. We know 1/16 was a relaunch day, so fix it so its playable.
The updates made to performance are great. The game runs so much more smoothly than before. However, the localization is some of the worst Ive ever seen. The English is riddled with typos, inconsistent capitalization, and flat out errors, even for things that have official translation (how they got Bralando region from Ill never understand, especially when its just called The Brightlands in the English version of Octopath Traveler 2). Its clear that no native English speakers were involved in the localization and that really needs to change. It needs to be proofread if nothing else.
Our data would not transfer. We cope the transfer data. And then why we try to play the game. It continues with a new game instead of were we stop at from the continuous game app.
Why did they make this game a gacha? It completely ruins the balance, fights are either too easy or too hard. Why do you take 8 members of your party into battle instead of 4? With every member having customizable weapons, gear, abilities, and skill trees its way too much to manage. Especially in a gacha where you r always getting new characters. Claims to be RPG but with hundreds of gacha characters that only have a first name theres no character development or interactions for 95% of them. Not even close to as good as the actual switch game.
Would love to play, but would prefer if it had backbone one support.
Migrating data across apps can get messy, we understand that, but theres seemingly no way to get help for a transfer code not working soooooonot spending more time and money to get back to the middling experience this game really was. This game is fun at first, but like the teeth of a methhead, it crumbles pretty quickly. LOADS of load time, insufficient in- game guides and community support, making around half our in-game time walking between map panels just to do fetch quests (no real way to speed thru most game elements actually) , and the element of making RPG team builds gacha and money-based. Wish this art style was utilized in more games though, it is a pretty visual game.
Ive been a big fan of Octopath travelers since it has been we have nothing but great things to say about this game and best wishes for this. Ive spent countless hours playing this game and we honestly am happy with everything about the game except for one thing, would it be possible to get controller support?(Backbone controller) the only reason we say this is because for us its kind of difficult to swipe on screen and use the touch functions because our hands will cramp up a lot faster that way, and using something like a Backbone controller would be just a little easier so if controller support is something that we get in the future, we would be over the moon ecstatic.
One of the greatest series ive ever blindly jumped into and we couldnt be happier with the gameplay, story, art, environments, music it is all superb and should be tried by everyone who loves RPGs or pixal art style, Almost 800 hours in and loved every second.
We have a backbone that we normally play all our games on for the convenience, this game would be really great if we had that option.
This game is amazingly fun but its incredibly stingey with its rate ups and in game currency. Its quite possibly the most unrewarding with its gacha and its been out for two to three years now? We honestly suggest you buy the OCTOPATH 0 game coming out soon and avoid emptying out your pockets for this game.
We think it would be really cool if you added controller support.
Please fix translations in English, but other than that we really enjoy playing this game.
We had our account on our iPad and now everything we work towards is gone cause yall shut it down. So we cant get nothing from it. Now ive started over the game is a little better but we should still be able to recover it or soemthing. Still a fun game and always will be a fav in our books.
Looks super cool but when we connected our backbone we couldnt use it to play. Would be even cooler if we could play more comfortably.

This game is way too much to understand right out of the gate. Ive even played the console games so we kind of know what to expect but it was overwhelming. Why would you start with so many characters? Let us build up to that to understand how it works.
