A Glimpse into Onirim – Solitaire Card Game

"Asmodee Digital has done a great job with their virtual board game releases, and Onirim is one of their fantastic new releases!" – App Advice

"Onirim is a simple and well-crafted adaptation of a solitaire game" – Board Game Quest

"Asmodee is very good at making modern and well thought out board games for mobile. Onirim is no exception, with a rejuvenation of the solitaire card game that is simply perfect on your phone." – Pocket Gamer

Nominated for a Golden Geek in the Best Solo Board Game category, Onirim is a card game where you play as a dream walker, lost in a mysterious labyrinth. You must find the dream doors before the dream time runs out, or you will be trapped forever!

Will you wander around the dream chambers hoping that luck will reveal the doors, or will you meticulously explore each room type? Either way, you’ll have to avoid the traps of the dreaded nightmares that haunt the labyrinth’s corridors.

Onirim is a solitaire card game. You must beat the game by collecting all eight dream doors before you run out of cards. You can get them by playing cards of the same colour for three consecutive turns or by discarding one of your precious Key cards when you draw a Door card. In both cases, you will need to make the best use of the cards you have in your hand while paying attention to the Nightmare cards. These cards are mixed in with the others, and if you draw one, you will be faced with a painful choice.

In addition to single player play, Onirim offers players an intuitive interface, automatic deck management and statistics that measure progress and success.

Onirim includes the following elements:

  • Shadi Torbey’s Onirim base game in solo mode
  • The original illustrations of the base game by Philippe Guerin and Élise Plessis, with animations
  • A solo game mode
  • A detailed interactive turn-by-turn tutorial integrated into the game
  • Statistics recorded offline to allow you to see your progress
  • No purchases or ads in the application
  • Supported languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish

Our only decision is do we play the app or break out the cards. This is just meditativ.

Very very smooth, perfect replication of the gameplay without all the shuffling!

Brilliant game; brilliant app.

We love this game but on one of the updates they took away the ability to make animations speed up by holding down. So now it feels REALLY long every time you make a play before you can go again. It really throws off the rhythm.

We dont know what happened recently, but the ability to hold your finger on a blank spot on the screen to speed the game up is gone and makes for a really frustrating experience. We have played this game over 5500 times and one BIG reason is that it is quick to playwhen the animations are sped up. Please bring this back for a better rating.

We’ve played this app 5-10 times everyday for the past year. Loved it. We’ve grown used to rapidly flipping through shuffling animations by pressing somewhere on the screen. For some reason, this feature was eliminated with the latest update. The game is way more tedious now that its forced to slow down (even with the ability to toggle animation speed in settings). Its frustratingly slow now that we cant speed things up at a finger press during gameplay. We regret installing the update- please bring back the ability to fast forward.

Im glad we bought a physical copy of Onirim when we did. We originally discovered the game through this digital version, but sadly it seems its become nearly unplayable over time. We were miffed to lose our expansions after the app changed hands, and now we’ve revisited the app only to find it extremely glitchy: if it loads at all (if Game Center doesnt crash it at launch), the pull-down for the settings menu renders a black screen, then a freeze before crashing to our Home Screen. Restarting the app, we can begin a new game, only for it to blackout, freeze, and crash as soon as we begin tapping to move cards. The biggest benefit to this app was the ability to hop into a quick game without needing to shuffle all the necessary cards myself. Big win for analog. Go buy the real Onirim & an automatic card shuffler; this app is barely hanging on by a thread, and the physical game has the benefit of multiple expansions bundled into one gorgeously compact box.

Its great to see this app finally getting support again, but youve now made the animations bafflingly slow and have totally removed the ability to speed them up by holding on a blank spot on the screen. Why? Even at top speed, everything is extremely, unpleasantly sluggish. We used to play this app almost daily, but since this update, we get bored before we can even finish a game because we have to sit and watch for minutes at a time while the app sloooooooooowly shuffles through everything. Again, good to see someone caring at all about this app, but youve only made it worse at this point.

Thank you, new developer, for acquiring this game from the prior owner and updating it to work properly. So good to have this back! This is one of the best solo card games out there. Simple enough to not be off-putting to a casual gamer, but complex enough to keep you interested. And the expansions add even more interesting elements once you get the hang of the basic game, so you can change things up each time you play. Perfect to play on a short work break since games only take a few minutes. And Im so glad its in portrait mode, we dont like landscape games. Its good on storage and battery too. The only glitch we’ve encountered is that sometimes it crashes when Game Center loads. But if you try again it works. No biggie, and Im sure theyll fix it at some point. Thank you for updating the app!

It’s speeded up and no longer the relaxing game. We loved to play. No matter where we put the animation rate, it’s racing along. We don’t know what limit frame rate means. We’ll keep trying to find out how to slow it down. Better yet, give us the choice to slow it down. We love the game.

There was an update that has destroyed this game in two ways: the asmodee leaderboards are no longer part of it and the game moves a weird lightning speed no matter how the animation speed is set sad, its such a great game.

Ah, what a sigh of relief. Im so happy to see an update to the app after 4 years. Asmodee had really done a terrible job with a lot of the apps they created and this one fell to the wayside. One of the iOS updates essentially broke it and it was barely playable on iPhone. Happy to report that inpatience has acquired and updated the app! Finally we can play Onirim on mobile in portrait orientation. Theres still some graphical bugs that need to be worked out, but 4 stars for the playable app as well as updating. This is our 2nd most played game ever, behind drop7. We have over 700 games logged on this app, and we think we had more before Asmodee erased our record one time over the years. Im hoping inpatience adds more extensions (although just the first 2 alone make this game great), but more importantly, we hope they release more digital versions of the Oniverse series! Lastly, Im so happy they reprinted Shadis games! We were finally able to pick up one of them that we waited years for. We have 3 physical Oniverse games in our collection (of over 150) and we hope to add the rest eventually. Welcome, inpatience, Im glad youre here!

Welcome back game creators! Pleawe fix speed control, it feels like a seizure warning is needed, everything else is still great. Thank you for coming back to your game!!

Was happy to see this in the App Store and it plays great!

Make more e-games in this Omni-verse! Nautilion maybe?

This was a really fun game. After playing the tutorial we instabought the dlc.

Really solid, great card game! Highly recommended!

Truly free, no catch. Plus max $2 in dlc available. Support this game. Excellent.

We love this game. It is our absolute favorite solo card game we’ve found, and this definitely goes for both the digital version and the hard copy. Digital is great for travel – Hard copy is great for the house!!!

Um dos melhores jogos de cartas que j joguei, fcil de aprender e muito desafiador. Com certeza um jogo para matar o tdio!! Amei.

We were in need of an intriguing solitaire game for our long business trips that would hold our interest and be challenging. We solicited YouTube and all signs pointed to Onirim. Im picky about what goes on our phone and this application is just what we were looking for. Very simple rules so there is a fast learning curve. Just four colors, three symbols, a few doors and those nasty nightmares. Every card draw poses new decisions to make. After 28 games (4 wins) our win ratio is 13.8% and yet we cant wait to play again. It is definitely a challenge but one you will relish over and over again. Great replay ability! You just dont get tired of Onirim. But if you do get tired, dont fall asleep. Those nasty nightmare cards will pop up and wreck your nap.

Wonderful game! It saves us from all the shuffling in the physical game. We would love to see the other games in this series – Sylvion, Nautilion, and Castellion – brought to iOS.

We’ve been looking for a unique card game to play. Been looking around and stumbled upon this game. Something about it intrigued us, so we downloaded it. So far we love it! We cant wait to really dig into it!

New update made an already great game nearly perfect. Buy the update. It’s awesome. We have around 200 games played so far. We’re not stopping anytime soon. Two expansions have been rolled out so far, and we know there are a bunch for the physical card game, too, so we’re guessing they’ll keep adding more stuff if we keep playing.

This game is a strategy buster to win…. Excellent and fun… They also make a board game called "Gloom" that we can’t wait until it comes out in electronic form…. Wonderful and challenging fun…

So amazing we’ve bought most of the things and we love it!

We had never heard of this game, but we have other Asmodee apps, and, after seeing some of the recent reviews of this game, thought Id give it a try. Im glad we did! Its a great way to decompress after the stressful days we are currently going through. The game always presents a challenge, which keeps us interested. There are add-ons that we havent tried yet. Im having too much fun with the original game!

Smooth app for a great game. We’ve had others say they prefer the app since it shuffles for you well, we actually love the physical game; we find the short play time and frequent shuffles to be oddly calming. So ya; enjoy the game on the app, but dont discount the physical game. Its arguably the best in the Oniverse series.

We have the physical copy of onirim and its a ton of fun, even of the nightmares pip up and make you have to discard cards you really needed. Haha! The app plays really well. The tutorial is easy to follow. Everything looks great. Id love to see more of the expansions added to this app and hopefully get some apps for the rest of the oniverse games. Sylvion, castellion, & nautillion.

While we would rather have the physical copy of the game with the two player variant and seven expansions, you honestly can’t go wrong with this digital copy… Especially for a quick (yet tense) diversion.

This is a convenient adaptation.

Seriously, we dont miss a single day playing at least one game with these delightful cards. We think of the game as a mystical journey (almost like something Doctor Strange would encounter) through a dangerous landwhere you must make careful choices to escape. Lots of fun and super strategic with plenty of replay value!

This game requires quite a bit of strategy and wit. We love games like this and we wish there were more out there like it! One of the best games we’ve ever played, if we could give it a 6th star we would.

So much fun. Its a solo game like solitaire. But Onirim has more strategy to the game. So a little luck and a little strategy. You can win. Good luck. Hahaha.

Beautiful art, the best solitaire game.

Onirim is our favorite solo game. Im so glad they made this app, and it really captures the game experience. It reminds us of a classic solitaire card game, but the art is so whimsical and dream-like.

Love to take on the go or when we have a few minutes to play. Great game. Pretty to look at.

The tutorial makes this gam easy to learn. It is very challenging in terms of luck sometimes. The first several games we played after the tutorial went downhill immediately after we found our first or second door. We couldnt get the cards we needed and kept getting spoiler cards with no ability to come back way before cards ran out. We played about 3 games like that before we got a decent deck where strategy played a bigger role than the bad luck. That may be comparable to the actual card game and doesnt change how we feel about the game, but too many unwinnable games in a row will be frustrating.

No complaints! Hoping for the other expansions and other games in the Oniverse. Shadi Torbey is a master at his craft!

This was a well-made game. Its a great seller working, and the developers did a great job turning it into a mobile game.

Great concept! Easy to learn! Hard but satisfying to win!

We played it for about 30 seconds before we ordered the card version. Good game!

Sometimes your friends cant hop online to play. Thats where fun solo games come in! There are so many out there but none as interesting as this one! Fantastic concept and even better boredom buster.

We were looking for an alternative to Solitaire on our phone and this game fits the bill. Its easy to learn and the games dont take too long to play. Its a little more challenging than solitaire and Im looking forward to adding in more expansion packs to continue challenging myself. We highly recommend this game.

This is the most enjoyable and addictive game we’ve played in quite a while (along with Onitama); to the point that we had to buy the physical copy too, just so we could get the tactile sensation from shuffling and handling cards and to get our eyes off the screen for a bit. Since the boxed copy has all of the expansions, we’re looking forward to continue expanding this one as well. The best part about owning the app version is being able to play a few quick games without the physical real estate and setup required by the cards; which isn’t a lot; but it’s something greatly appreciated while on the go. This game is straight up.

The game looks amazing and feels a lot like you are playing the card version. The music is great and adds a bit of ambience that makes it feel really tense at times. Also having the glyphs expansion included with the base just adds to it. Highly recommended for anyone that likes strategy games.

Love the strategy and randomness of this game. The wind feel great because it can take a bit to get one.

Easy to learn and quick to play. Havent had any bug issues. If you create an Asmodee account youll get a free expansion which is cool. We’ve played it over 100 times in 3 days so Overall, Im very pleased.
