Patchwork The Game Reviews

The Tutorial is very confusing. There doesnt seem to be a link to a descent set of rules. The layout is chaotic with unexplained mechanisms.

We love this game but, since the update, its been incredibly buggy. The gameplay is buggy, the game crashes at random, and when you close it and reopen it the pieces are in different spots. It really needs to be fixed because its almost unplayable at the moment.

This game was amazing. The latest release changed the timing of the animations so now everything is either super slow and painful to wait through or too fast to follow. Theres also no way we can find to change the animation speed while in a game.

We play this game everyday, several times a day. Since the new update, it wont even load. Just gets stuck on the introduction screen. Ugh.

They bricked it. Version 2 stalls on startup!

Love this game and app but after the update this weekend the app wont open anymore, its stuck on the DIGIDICED/Twin Sails publisher screen :( please fix!!!!

The game is very good, and the tutorial was nice. But where are the full rules? What do all the icons mean? What does "hd" mean? Why does an icon just pop up a "loading" box and never recover? What does "positive scoring" mean? What are all the numbers and symbols around our player icon? Icons are nice but they need explanations too.

Latest update causes sound level to drop with headphones.

This is a fun quick game. We’re getting much more enjoyment than we thought we would. You should buy it.

Thoughtfully conceived and very intuitive! Seemingly simple game is actually quite strategic.

Awesome game both tabletop and iOS. Play with your bestie for many many many months of joy. Still loving it and bought day 1.

Great adaptation of a great game.

We are really enjoying the game, but we would like if there were some kind of achievements or story to go with it. Playing the AI is fine, but it doesn’t keep us entertained for long.

If you don’t know how to play the game, you might want to purchase the boardgame first. Or find the rules online somewhere. Rulebook(s) are not presented through the app, and the tutorial only scratches the surface of what appears to be a 5 star app.

We really enjoy the game, but can only play the AI, since there seems to be a glitch: "local player not authenticated". Also, the email icon at the top of the screen, presumably to contact the developers about such glitches, does not work. We would give this game five stars, if we could play against other humans, as advertised. Otherwise, it’s a pretty expensive solo game. Playing against a computer gets boring.

Unfortunately we cannot even play the tutorial thanks to Game Center connection fails resetting the game. What a garbage trend in games, to have core game compromised by sloppy integrations of irrelevant social junk.

We started off really liking this game until we played the hard stage. It’s funny how Ute (hard) keeps getting three buttons all the time and just the right quilt pieces – Bogus!!

This is a fun adaptation of a very fun board game!

This rendition of the game is marred by shockingly bad UX and UI design. The other flaky elements and bugs barely stand out compared to inconsistent button language, muddy assets and painful animation. We’re looking at the main menu now and it is just a cluster of random, poorly thought out information and the gameplay is worse. It would be VERY hard to recommend this to friends.

Fantastic game – don’t let the quilting theme dissuade you.

Love the game and so does our daughter. However, when we do pass and play the game disappears if we accidentally press "next game". This happens frequently because it’s very easy hit.

Good job overall 1. We feel like we don’t get an overall sense of the future patches very easily. We know you can scroll through them, but…. We feel like especially on the iPad that extra screen real estate could be used to show us all the patches at once, somehow 2. Considering how the rest of the game feels very 3D, the patch place marker seems rather… Flat.

We really like this game, but for some reason some of our completed games are still showing as "running"

Great game and good team of developers.

The game is good. The app is slow, but well done overall. Putting in an auto pass feature helps. The information to tell you that other people have played is terrible. Also, it shows that you have notifications on the left banner bar, but there is nothing there to read when you click. It’s like a false report. It also takes a long time to load games in the United States. If the servers are in Germany, that might explain it.

We dig this game so much we gifted the physical board game to both our brother and one of our best friends. Our brother and we play this version everyday. Every. Day. Our one tiny complaint are frequent connectivity issues? Network errors? We dunno. There never seem to be updates, either. Not that we expect something new via gameplay. The game is perfect. But it gets glitchy sometimes. Which is weird,Iike we said, we never see updates, but then the glitch goes away. Well. Whatever. This game is great. That might be why we fall apart (jk) when we have connectivity problems.

Have been playing the table board game for a couple of years and this saves a lot of time and is easy to play. Only takes a couple of turns to get the hang if it. The graphics make it look like a kids game but its fun for all ages.

So the tutorial for this game is just not good so we watched a how you play video online and once you understand the game it is simple. The game premise is a bit abstract. The app is great and takes so much of the accounting out of the picture you are free to just think.

The game is very nice. We play at least 3 times a day! One problem: it sometimes LOCKS up…. When you look far forwards in your turn! Only way to fix it is to pass….. Or to keep moving the wheel forwards or backwards till it unlocks what is not always possible.

We randomly found out about this game and love it. Its honestly just a relaxing game. We admit we had to do the tutorial twice. Its not really all that difficult to understand there are just quite a few moving parts to the game and we couldnt figure out what the medium level Ai always had so many buttons!

We have been surprised how much we like this game. It is smooth and easy to learn. And has nice levels of AI. Our only thought is it would be nice to always see what pieces are coming up without having to swipe through, much like you can when placing the pieces.

Our wife and we have been playing this asynchronously for over a year and have never gotten bored with it. Kudos to Uwe and to Digidiced for making quilting fun!

We love everything about this game! The game is fun, and we love the stitching around the pieces, beautiful pieces and fitting them together into beautiful quilts! Its a great adaptation of the game we love!

This is a great tabletop game. As good of an app. No interruptions or bugs. Just buy it. You will get your money’s worth in a day.

Huge fan of Patchwork one of our favorite games to bust out on the table . Simple, quick, strategic and fun! Mobile works great but recommend the physical game for the full experience!

This game hasnt been updated to fit new phones which is a bummer. We bought this game to play asynchronous with a friend across the country but we cant quite figure out what happens with the time limit like sometimes theres a Time limit in the games and sometimes there isnt. Can anyone explain whats happening? We dont want our games to end after 24 hours because sometimes it takes a couple of days to finish the game!

Its really fun! No, bugs as we can see. You guys did a really good job bringing this game to mobile/iPad. Our only dislike is theres a lot going on; All the quilling on the background, and on the board can be a bit to much (for us.) Id love a more simple theme available, like a wooden table look or something, a little less crazy.

This game is deceptively elegant. Almost no chance involved, and no private information, means that your strategy can continue to evolve and level-up for a surprising amount of time. The app itself is good, albeit with a few nitpicks. When replaying your opponents moves, their score for their whole turn(s) is added on the screen during the placement of their first piece, instead of incrementally during the placement of each piece. This is a small thing, but it has continued to annoy us because, 50 plays later, we’ve glanced at their score as the actions on-screen direct us there, and mentally updated their score, and then realized later Id miscalculated because of the unintuitive order of operations. Occasionally the place market glitches and its impossible to tell which pieces you can select from, or it wont even allow a (valid) selection, and you have to kill and restart the app. Occasionally we wont receive notifications that its our turn. Nevertheless, the app is well worth the cost in terms of quality and replayability.

Really no complaints about the general gameplay as it works fabulously. Love love the game. However, we do wish it was optimized for the iphoneX . Too pretty a game to not take advantage of that.

Th8s game is excellent but every other game or so it jams and we have to abandon our game. It is really annoying and prevents us from rating 5 stars.

Some glitches, but ok to play. Swiping tiles is a little too snappy.

The game plays well and is fun but dont expect the tutorial to help at all!

Id prefer more text and fewer iconography.

Love the game; it’s one of our favorites! When we play online games with other players we keep getting stuck on one game… We can’t switch to make a move on the others. We have to completely shut down and restart our iPad to reset the game.

We only dinged a few stars because it needs to be updated for the new iPad sizes and we can never find any friends to play with.

The AI is developed in a way that requires you to go first. The pieces are then strategically set w traps that the AI uses to its advantage. (Ex. Game starts w three pieces that all cost 3+ buttons and or take 5 turns, followed conveniently by three pieces of low cost and low moves.) Once you start to learn to look out for this, you can skip your turn (to force the AI to select a piece)… But then the AI skips their turn, you skip yours… Repetitive loop until you get halfway across the board skipping turns and the AI has the algorithm of finally knowing it can grab a piece and force things along. Im all about the challenge and the AI being super tough- but the strategic piece placement forcing you to just skip turns for half the game… Pretty lame.

Would be a fun game if we knew how to play, but there aren’t any rules.

This version will not credit local player with the 7-point bonus :-/ please fix! Also, very laggy when playing the hard AI. We do like the game, overall.
