Below youll find our original review, showing how much we loved this app. Maybe its just that Im broke and in between jobs right now, but the new subscription service is not ideal. Really disappointed in the newer updates. Im not paying $7 a month for this. This app will be deeply missed by us and our group. We’ve been looking for something exactly like this ever since we started running TTRPG games with our friends. Its always been a hassle. What Im about to say is genuinely shocking, and not for the faint of heart: this app is exactly as advertised. Im floored by how good it is. Keeps playing as you pull up reference or character sheets on your phone, and perfect for board game night too! Im telling all our friends, whether they play TTRPGs or not, download it now!
We read adventure books to our young kids every night. This app has really added to the atmosphere when reading. Its truly amazing how well the music fits with the reading experience and how seamless the intensity can be adjusted. Its absolutely perfect and our kids love it. We let them control the sound effects when we hear crashes or explosions or weather events. It really makes everything about story time so much more fun. We would love to see more one-shot creature sounds and ambiance options to enhance environmental elements. Such as – dragon/dinosaur roars – night time animal ambiance sounds like crickets and owls hooting. – swampy bog gurgling and subtle frog noises – volcanic eruptions and earth rumbling Thanks again!

This app has been great. Enough for us to actually leave a review so thats something. Was curious to see if people had bad things to say. So far, all the low reviews are referring to things that we dont find to be the case. One says it requires a subscription but we’ve downloaded several audios for free while others offer the option to pay for them. So far, so good.
We love this app. Im currently using it for a D&D campaign and we love the ability to change the ambience dynamically and with relative ease. We would love to see more one-shots and variants of music/ambience for specific settings. For example, an A, B, and C option for the forest, or perhaps variants based on the season or time of day. Our only criticism and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is using the subscription model for premium. Its pretty steep and we personally dont care for them. There are so many platforms using subscriptions it gets overwhelming tracking them all. If premium were a flat, one-time price we would gladly pay it and bump this rating up to 5 stars.
We love the intensity sliders. It gives control over the mood. The music selection for locations is right on point. Improvements: the subscription fee is a little much. Only consider the subscription if you GM constantly and need the extra locations and options. Needs more locations. This obviously will go up with user input. Some of our suggestions for location based music would be Tavern, Castle, Desert, Tundra, Volcano, and Dragon Lair. Dragons are supreme amongst encounters so you have to have their music on their own level.
First the good – the app is well built, fun and intuitive to use, and the sounds are great! We look forward to more soundscapes being made, and more sound packs being released. We even cannot wait to see how the devs increase functionality within individual packs, like scene specific sound categories and what not. Having the same basic categories, like ambiance and weather, across all scenes make a ton of sense and works fantastic. $7 a month is a steep price, however. We would certainly pay money for a pro version were it a one time charge. We would even enthusiastically buy sound packs piecemeal to gain permanently full access to them. $7 for one sound pack would be an easy impulse buy that we would only slightly regret, but a monthly subscription model just does not feel like the fit for a service like this. We will continue to use the app, but implore the devs to look at other monetization methods, as we feel like a subscription basis will be a consistent turn off for many potential customers. Also, devs just HAVE to get working on a tavern soundscape, how else am we supposed to start our adventures?!
We are unbelievably thrilled and happy with this app. The music is perfect and theres so much content and the scenarios are so customizable and it is SO IMMERSIVE! We cannot thank the developers enough for this because we have always struggled to find music and ambience that works for our campaigns. Thank you so so so so so much again!!!
Our friends and we cant really get together in person (we use discord) so we’ve been using this mostly for myself but we think it would be a really cool idea to make a bot for discord so we can this ambiance in our sessions!
We have a policy to never download any app that advertises to us via Facebook. For us if it doesnt come word of mouth, or through our own search, we ignore it. The ad for this app was a demo video of how it works and how seamlessly it integrates to what youre trying to do. It looked so easy and intuitive that we broke our own policy and grabbed it. In practice its just as easy as was promised and we will now be using it to run all our games with the kids. We also pointed it out to our Open Table 5e campaign, who are mostly more experienced DMs. No idea if theyll listen, but Im spreading word of mouth.
This is such a fantastic app. It has made our Dnd games so much more dynamic and our players have loved it and it adds so much to our campaigns without having to fumble around YouTube or Spotify to get the right song. Thank you so much.

Honestly, we play DND as forever DM and this has helped a bunch with quick scene changes, we cant wait until they add more content. Im hooked.
We rarely bother to leave reviews but we used this for the first time today on the recommendation of a friend and former player at our table, and we cancelled our subscription for Syrinscape seven minutes after our session. By far the best and most intuitive ambiance app we’ve ever used and these folks are barely just getting started. In their discord you get essentially a summary of their Kanban board and goodness do they have some great things in store. As soon as the desktop version is released, all of our virtual tables will make the switch too.
Downloaded it a few minutes ago and we can already tell its fantastic. We messed around with some of the ambience, the weather and so on, and we will definitely be using this whenever we DM from now on.
We literally just downloaded this because we were missing something and the simple design hooked us. We love the music and the simplicity of crafting a soundboard for almost any scene has never been easier. We would gladly pay $5-10 for this app and a smaller fee for expansions. Do not miss out on this!
This app makes it so easy to set the mood when running a ttrpg. We love how easy this is to use and how much control you get over the environment. Every GM needs this in their tool kit!
This app is dope. It allows a fully customizable sound scale. Our only wish is there was a little transparency on development. Granted we only have the app, but the one thing we were hoping for (tavern) is showing unavailable to us. But no information past that. However, the customizable city sounds are amazing!!
Heard about this app on TikTok and was so intrigued by the concept that we ran to check it out. Im wildly impressed. The music is beautiful, the transitions are flawless, the layering of different effects from whispers to rainfall to one off effects like spell casting, explosions, or someone falling! Im so excited to transform our game nights, Im even using this now as background study music. We can not wait for new content. This is an absolute necessity for your ttrpg game nights.
This app has it all. A ton of great sound effects AND it doesnt interrupt your music. If you like to curate your TTRPG playlists but want some ambient noises and weather effects you can do it with this app. It has its own music if DJ-ing isnt your thing. Either way perfect for our games! Never change that feature!

We had been struggling to find a decent solution to our music problem when DMing. Whether it be playing spotify playlists for each different setting, or watching a youtube video for ambience, we couldnt quite seem to get them to work just how we wanted them to. This app luckily just fell right into our lap, and its honestly just what we were looking for. Having 3 different tracks for exploration, combat, and victories, on top of ambient sounds for each setting, is really a huge blessing. Ill definitely be using this in our campaigns moving forward. What a world we live in!
Its easy, its fun, we use it to write and play in our dnd campaign. When we saw it on TikTok we were so surprised it wasnt viral. We downloaded it expected a micro transaction but never found one (at least in our genre (fantasy)). We cannot stop stressing how easy it is to use. Im someone who gets destructed easily so we stick it on a low setting with the sliding scale and its absolutely perfect. Im rambling and incoherent but honestly Im just so impressed and thankful we found this<3.
Saw a tiktok about this app and immediately ran to download it. Im so excited to use this in our next session. That ability to toggle the intensity of everything is amazing and very easy. Keeps us from having awkward silences as we change to a perfect song. Also love the environmental options. Its gonna be SO immersive. Looking forward to more packs.

Ever since we started playing TTRPGs, we have been dreaming of an app like this. It has almost everything we need to have an audibly immersive game experience with our players. With simple and intuitive controls and easy-to-navigate settings that are diverse (and expanding), we think Pocket Bard is going to be our go-to for a looong time.
Downloaded after seeing a tiktok and this is hands down an amazing ambiance app for any TTRPG game. The scalability and Dynamic changes that fluidly adapt and loop makes this such an amazing background music and ambiance to create better immersion. We love the single hits for things like explosions, wolf howls, etc. Do want a Wilhelm Scream in the mix though. Cant wait for a desktop port and for more sound scapes to be added.
TRY THIS NOW. THE INTENSITY SLIDER ISNT VOLUME. IT LITERALLY INSTANTLY CHANGES HOW INTENSE THE MUSIC IS. Our only gripe is idk how to access the content that says its unavailable. Do we just gotta wait? Or pay? Im confused.
This is honestly probably the best tool we have ever used as a dm. The ambient music for each setting is pretty much spot on and the sound effects make for crazy good immersion. Easy 5 stars.
A spring breeze after light rain. Singular awareness during zazen. The birth of a child. None of these experiences equal the divine bliss derived from using Pocket Bard. We dont even know what dungeons and dragons is. Its irrelevant. Our life has been divided into two eras: BPB and APB. Our only complaint is we wish to compensate the developers for this remarkable achievement, but we dont know how we can. If someone has a way, please let us know.

This app comes with SO MANY options from the beginning. The music is high quality that changes with each location. The fact that its not the same short song just looping blew our mind. The sound effects are great as well. The app also works with Spotify in the background if you already have a playlist built but want the ambiance or sound effects. Wonderful tool for DMs or ttrpgs.
We’ve been a user since we met some of the team at PAXU, and it has been so so so useful to our DnD experience. With the re-introduction of some of the one shot sounds (wolf howls and explosions most importantly), we know our adventuring party is going to have fun. We eagerly await the other sound packs.

Clean UI, great music, easy and fun to use. There’s really nothing out there that’s better than pocket Bard for tabletop music. The smooth transitions between moods and intensities are very good, and we always feel like we have full control. The roadmap ahead for future updates looks phenomenal, and you can tell the team behind this app really care about the product they’re putting out.
We’ve always wanted a sound board for doing and this is great. If they release paid content for different spells or sound effects, Ill happily give them our money. Super easy to use and will be telling our dnd friends about this.
We used to search D&D music and that was always ok at best but we started using this in our home games recently and it was obvious there was no going back. The control of immersive sound is top notch. Great app! Thanks for all you do! Cant wait for future features!

We downloaded after we’ve seen a video about it and honestly passed our expectations its awesome and sets the mood beautifully during the games we play thank for making an awesome app like this its needed.
We just downloaded it because we saw their tiktok, and we’ve got session 0 coming up tomorrow and was looking for a mood setting soundboard thing. And boy howdy is this amazing! Has all the default things you need for a fantasy rpg and it looks like they have stuff for sci-fi and other things either on the way or an in app purchase(which we didnt see an option for so maybe the first option) anyway this app is amazing and you bet Im going to be using it tomorrow to impress all our players.
This app is incredible! Every scene change seamlessly flows into the other, changing from explore, which is usually more subdued relaxing music, straight into combat. The table we play at freaked out when we showed them the app- it really helps having so many great music choices in one app!
Id been using Pocket Bard through all of the Beta testing and we have to say its probably the best mood setting app for your TTRPG game. The developers are very hands on with the community and are just great all around.

Yeah, so this is just perfect. Im a DM in D&D and this app literally makes us a DJ for the settings our players are in. This is such a fantastic idea, well formatted, easy to use, and a necessity to anyone who likes setting the scene with music in their games. We would give this 6/5 stars if we could.
Perfect app for bg music even if Im not running a game. It lags our phone and eats our battery if we use another app while we have it in the background but that could just be us. Cant wait for what other music choices come along. Would kill to have this as a discord bot but thats neither this nor that.
We almost never leave reviews to things but this by far and away deserves it. The ease of transitioning themes, places, and sounds, makes it so easy to focus on the storytelling without having to pull up lists of background music and waiting for them to play. Everything is so seamless. 5 stars, 10/10, cant wait for the next content pack.
