RAYSTORM, the second installment in TAITO’s classic RAY series of arcade shooting games, locks on to iPhone!
TAITO is famous for arcade shooting games, and the RAY trilogy is one of its most beloved series! Beloved for its beautiful 3D graphics and exhilarating pace, the series’ second installment (following RAYFORCE) is now available in app form!
*Two Game Modes: Remix Mode and Arcade Mode!
-The Remix Mode provides a new, iPhone-optimized experience with revised difficulty setting, enemy placement, and color schemes. The special TANZMIX mode sound is fresh, too!
-For the hardcore, Arcade Mode is a faithful touch screen recreation of the original arcade game.
*Two Shooting Methods: Auto and Manual!
Auto Mode provides automatic, button-free firing for both the standard weapon and lock-on laser, allowing players to take on this challenging game with a single finger.
-When impacted with special Attack gauge accumulated, Round-Divider activated by auto! You can avoid the shot of your aircraft!
Manual Mode adds weapon controls (a toggle for the standard shot; fire buttons for the lock-on laser and special attack), providing a more arcade-like play experience.
*Support MFi Bluetooth controllers!!
Key configuration is also possible! You can place ‘Shot’, ‘Laser’ and ‘Special attack’ on your easy-to-operate button!

We dont get the hate for this game. The remastered the graphics are fitting and its such a fun SHMUP. Cool bosses and we love the way the levels twist around your ship. We love all three in the series.
When we open RAYSTORM, It obviously goes through the Taito Logo and then goes to the Touch to Start screen aka the Start Screen. So we tap to start the game. And it won’t work. The words "Touch To Start" just stay there and then fade out and come back and fade out again. You know what we mean but. Anyways, we just stay there tapping our screen so hard that we’re sure that we were on the brink of breaking the iPad Screen. So we played RayForce… Which is not included in this review because this is our review about RAYSTORM, So RAYSTORM wouldn’t startup. So we just want Taito to fix this. They either fix this with an update or they give a refund.
This last update is just so awesome! We love the graphics update and the controls update. We’re so glad we spent money on this amazing game! Works great on our iPhone 6s+ running iOS 10.3.2.
We remember a third game in the ray series called raycrisis. Why didn’t they remake that one.
Ever since we first played this game in the late 90s, we were completely mesmerized by the gameplay and the production values. And Im glad that we can relive those memories again right in the palm of our hand. One thing, though: we would like to see an update for the screen to be expanded to fit the 4-inch display of the iPod Touch 5th generation and later iPhones. We believe that would create an even more immersive experience for owners of these devices. Also, we hope an iOS port of RayCrisis is in the works. We will get it for sure :) Keep the awesome games coming!
Excellent port of one of the all-time greats. The game’s art and audio direction have held up great even after all these years! Only complaint is that we really wish Taito would get around to doing true iPad ports of these classics (en lieu of purely "iPhone" versions).
When we found RAY STORM and RAY FORCE in the App Store, we were very skeptical about buying these games. We bought them and find we’re forcing myself to quit playing these games. We quickly forgot about the $15 we spent for RAY STORM and RAY FORCE. Very happy and satisfied. Please add MFI support for these great games.

We’ve never played the ray series games before but we’re a huge shmup fan and had to try them out. This one is loads of fun! Our only complaint is the price, which is not a big deal, and the lag that came up a FEW times. Not nearly as bad as your Rayforce port which had it more often.
Nice port of a ps1 classic but needs the option to change the screen orientation to get the longer vertical view(portrait) like a true shmup should have. It deserves a 5 star review but this small problem keeps it from getting that perfect rating. We just don’t understand why Rayforce had the good view but this one doesn’t :/ still a great game though, and a steal at 3.99. Playing on iPhone 6s Plus version 9.2 operating system.
We love schumps but this one is not worth the price. Cave makes the best,i hate to say u should this but, play a Cave game then try this one. You will notice which is better! We give Taito props for some originality,but please take the time out to UPDATE THIS GAME!
We have to say this game is great. It’s basically the same as the home version for playstation, only Nue Tanz mix is called iphone mode. The music is still as weird and interesting as we remeber it. So why the two star rating? This game is $9. This game is not optimized for iphone 5, updated for ios 7 and doesn’t have controller support. Considering this is likely a remake of a port of a game with an HD version on consoles, originally released almost 20 years ago, makes the lack of support frustrating. If it were updated optimized, it’d be 5 stars easy.
