A Glimpse into Risk: Dice War

It is played on a number of predefined 2D maps containing 22 to 43 territories.

The goal of the game is to control every territory on the map or to be the last player that has not surrendered or been eliminated from the gameplay. At the start of a game, territories are randomly divided among the players, and a random number of dice (representing armies) are stacked on each territory.

A player is then randomly selected to go first. Players take turns to attack and hold neighboring territories. In order to alleviate concerns that starting last (7th) in the first round is a disadvantage, the 6th and 7th players to play receive a one die bonus.

Both players receive an extra die in their dice distributions, increasing the probability that their territories will survive attacks for the first round of play.

This game is just like the flash game we used to play on CPU. They ads are not overwhelming we barely notice them because it’s in between games. This is a fun time killer/ strategy game.

Going up against cells that have the same number of dice than you more often than not leads to their victory. We dont believe it used to be this way. Our guess is the algorithm was probably tweaked when they implemented the ads.

Ads are back even though we paid for them to be removed a long time ago! With no option to turn them back off!!

Refund our money if you are going to put ads back in!

This used to be our favorite mobile game, but the last update: – Made scoring too fast to see each battle – Added invasive Ads and watch an ad to win mechanics – Increased the ad size – Seemed to make the AI worse we loved this game, but the last update ruined so much of a good thing. :(

Ill always compare these types of strategic dice games to the classic version by GameDesign. This one is a pretty good match to it. We like being able to zoom in and out to see whats going on with the territories. Thanks!

Just like the flash game we played years ago. Excellent port. Well done.

Can’t find any issues with the app! Just as good as it is online. We have loved this game for a long time now and we’re glad they have an app for it!

We used to play this game on the computer and its very fun casual game. Our only issues are 1. The territories that some colors own are usually off by 1 so if light blue own 5 pieces of land it sometimes says 6 or 4. 2. It doesn’t have a feature to see who wins like if you lose and theres 2 colors left then it doesn’t have a fast forward feature to see he wins. Not the most important feature and would rather have the first one done, but its nice to know.

If you are the last opponent eliminated (2nd place) you are given credit for the win. We think this is because after your last territory is beat, the whole map is only one color and the program doesn’t note that it isn’t your color and credits you with the win. Also, we think there should be a forfeit option. If you cancel a game mid-way through, that should count as a loss.

Dice wars was a solid game… But this port of it is not. For one, the AI is beyond stupid here, often choosing to relentlessly bully the player even when another color has a sizable lead and will cement said lead and win the game without immediate resistance, and their sheer stupidity in choosing to do this instead of actually even trying playing to win costs you so many games in the most frustrating way possible it’s not even funny. Granted in the original the AI wasnt stellar and was easily exploited, but at least there they understood the idea of a common enemy and would form a temporary truce with everyone else if someone looked like they were running away with the game. Also, the rolling rng seems to be skewed against the player here. Maybe we’ve just run bad but it seems that even if you attack with a one or two dice advantage over the defender you often somehow manage to get a roll less than theirs and be cost what should more often than not be a win. And again, several times we’ve lost the game because of these cheap losses, sometimes even happening multiple attacks in a row. But of course the AI doesnt seem to he affected by this at all, as while you stuggle to win attacks even with a one or more dice advantage, they often attack with a one dice DEFECIT and somehow manage to pull a win out their arse! And while that happened occasionally in the original of course, here, it happens a LOT, more often than it should at the least as they have fewer dice and lose any ties to the defender. And again, when this happens, especially multiple times in their turn as often seems to he the case, it costs you the game in the most cheap and frustrating way possible. And those things aside… This just looks ugly. Half the info is off the side of your phone screen so if you roll off with many dice you wont even see the total of what you rolled as it will be offscreen, and this issue also applies to reserve dice you stockpile when all your territories are full, forcing you to guess whether or not you will have enough dice to fortify your territories next turn if you do a specific number of attacks. Fix these issues and ill revise the rating, but until they are fixed, id just advise sticking with the browser version.

… Also curiously the computer is INCREDIBLY lucky even when you have two or more dice.

We loved this game as a flash game back in the day. And while the spirit is essentially there, there is a MASSIVE problem with competing against territories that have less dice than you. We find myself losing OFTEN to territories with less dice than us, even when we have at least two on top of them. It would have been one thing if this was a rare occurrence, but this happens very regularly, and its enough to make us quit playing. Fix the issue, and Ill redownload it.

Loud, LOUD, intrusive ads. We didnt know our phone could get that loud. Im wondering how they did it.

The app won’t let us restore the removal of Ads. It just tries to make us buy it again. The Support link goes to a Facebook page for some app called "Guess! Movie"
