What Makes Roterra – Flip the Fairytale Stand Out
Tap, press and swipe to solve 80 hand-crafted mazes in this addictive puzzle game about changing perspectives. Set in a magical world where “up” is relative, Roterra is unlike anything you’ve played before.
Rotate, flip and spin specially marked cubes to shift the ground and reveal pathways. You may need to walk across the ceiling or down a wall to find your way. Take your time and plan your moves: in this perception-challenging world, things are rarely as they seem, and the correct path is often not the most obvious one. In this jumbled world you may need dozens of moves to complete the path and escape the maze, but don't worry about getting stuck: just flip a cube to find a new way out. Find our rock spider monuments tucked into the valleys of the cave walls and more .

—STORY OF ROTERRA—
Once upon a time, a daring princess defied stereotypes and took her fate into her own hands. Roterra is inspired by ORLANDO FURIOSO, a 16th Century poem about love, power and perception.
In Roterra, Princess Angelica must turn cubes to transform dead ends into doorways, toggle switches to reveal staircases and bridges, and even flip the world on its head to find the path and overcome the obstacles set in her way. The puzzles tell the story of a young girl, at first tentative with her newfound magic, growing empowered as she escapes from increasingly difficult mazes created by her power-hungry brother, Orlando.
Traversing the cube-shaped puzzle world of Roterra to regain her rightful place as Queen, Angelica discovers that sometimes the journey matters more than the destination, stereotypes are not to be trusted, and often the only way forward is to change your perspective.

Community Insight:
Definitely similar in gameplay to Monument Valley so it scratches that itch. The fact that you cannot control the camera is annoying, though, because sometimes we want to look ahead and we cant, or we cant quite see what is going on behind or on the other side of a block. The controls are a little twitchy too: sometimes it rotates when we want it to flip or vice versa. Im only half a dozen levels in and these things havent made it unplayable yet.
We were enjoying the game until we got stuck at level 12. We have tried using tips from the Internet, but no luck. No response from a customer service. After doing the same thing that enough time it finally works! So we are no longer stuck.
We were looking for games along the lines of Monument Valley and this fit the bill. The mechanics are the same throughout, but there are enough twists to keep it interesting. Not sure how long it took us overall, but we played two or three of the 20 levels a day. There are some bonus puzzles at the end. Ill definitely buy the other Roterra puzzles now, and am happy to be supporting a woman-owned business! This was a great intro – found it through recommendations on Reddit. Big thanks to the developers for designing this and offering it for free.
Im loving playing this game! Invariably this will be compared to monument valley. Though very similar they play differently. We love them both. We will definitely be buying the pack with the other games. Fair warning to those new to this game. You wont be able to put it down! Have fun and thanks developers.
Absolutely loved this game and was super sad when we finished it.
We really appreciate the details. Fun head scratcher.
We may be your oldest fan (nearly 80) but we absolutely love this series and couldnt put it down without wanting to be back in action. What fun! Cant wait for the fourth game.
This really gets us thinking, so we love that we have something that is entertaining but also forces us to think. Very happy with this one.
Good game. Enjoyed it enough to purchase the rest of the Roterra games.
This game is definitely one of our favorites on our iPad right now! We love the concept and we think the graphics are super neat. Definitely has its issues though. Some of the controls are just not as responsive as they should be and thats even while using a big screen. The other thing that takes away from the game is the inability to pan the camera. We would like to be able to move the view around because sometimes your player does get stuck in a weird corner or behind a wall. It seems like it should be an option, and we find ourselves intuitively trying to do so while playing. Other than that we are enjoying it and its a fun challenge at times.
The game was an interesting twist on the search and click to advance idea but the fact you can only play to level 7 then there is no solution and no hints leaves the game with a frustrating and rapid end. It was a good time killer, now we have to delete the game and move on, what a shame. Update: the developer actually responded to our review which is a shocker. Apparently there is no purchase to continue issue, we just got stuck and help was offered if we take a screenshot of the area we were having trouble with. We have already deleted the game so we would have to reinstall and work up to the 7th level once again, which we will not be doing, but for the response we are going to upgrade our star rating for the game.
We finally beat app unwrapper. We figured it out ourselves. Thanks for a great game.
Roterra is one of our go-to for casual games next to Snapbreaks Faraway series. So much so, we are playing it again and will follow it with the Extreme version. IMHO, we believe Roterra fans would love to see another sequel to this series, as we believe it would be a must play for fans thus, a hit for the developers. Kudos.
This game is so beautifullll we loved it and wish we could play it all again for the first time. Thank you for making it!!! And thank you for a free version. Blessings.
We havent downloaded a really good puzzle game in a long time, the last ones we thought were this good were Monument Valley and its sequel but this is no copycat and really holds its own; the theme, feel, and action are more exciting whereas MV was more meditative. Im on level 20 and am really enjoying this, Ive been getting lost for hours and am going to miss it after we finish! There is a reset button that takes you back to the last accomplishment you earned in each level if you get stuck (not the beginning of the level), a hint system that shows you cause and effect of what moves you made, and you can turn the music and sounds off if you want. We recommend this game highly if you like puzzle games like Monument Valley. Its not a fast paced action game or shoot em up game. Its a rotating puzzle game with interesting mazes and nice, detailed scenery to get immersed in.
Fun game keeps your mind going trying to figure out the maze.
Very challenging (we have hints turned off). Spoiler: need some info somewhere about towers.
This is a truly creative, visually captivating game that we enjoy a lot. There is one factor driving us crazy though, and it knocks the star rating way down. Almost every time (~90%) we receive a text, email, or otherwise switch to another app, Roterra crashes and causes us to redo tasks back to the last milestone. The removes a good bit of enjoyment, due to this frustration.
Awesome game/puzzle where one has to see things differently. Totally enjoyable: music, art, challenge. We were sad when it was over. Make more! We're glad we found this game, the style really appeals to us so we've been looking for others like it — a huge thanks to the creators of Roterra for an excellent game and for introduction to something new. We're waiting for your next creation.
Exactly the right balance of mildly challenging and variety. An outstanding accomplishment, cant wait for more from this developer.
We absolutely love this 3D puzzle game. It gets harder as the levels progress but still not too difficult to solve level and go to the next puzzle. This game is great stimulation for your brain. Great graphics, smooth movement control. The developers created such a great game, thank you for fun!! Hope to see more great game like Roterra.
What a delightful game. Best of this type Ive played. To the developers- thank you.
We played it twice. The only other game Ive played more than once other than roterra was monument valley. Guess we like it when the world turns on its head. Cant wait for the new one.
This is honestly one of the best games ever created. We played this game a while back and wanted to write a review and then read some Sissyboy (no joke) tear this beautiful, creative, highly intelligent game to pieces with some whiny complaint about wanting money back. Hey you can charge us again just to refund this guy so that he goes away. Plz. This is an awesome game! It was pure joy playing it. Each level becomes more challenging, but each puzzle is logical and makes sense. Sometimes you have to look at things from another angle- we love that! We also never sent a game where the developers responded to each and every review. Very impressive! This is such a creative group of people. And now… Did we see a sequel coming soon?!!!!! So excited. If you thinking whether to get this game, GET IT! Dont read that haters review who wants the money back. He couldnt get past level two thats obvious. The beauty of this game is its simplicity and those who find it boring missed the entire point of it. Cant wait for the sequel!!!!! Thank you for a really great game.
Roterra is one of the best puzzle games Ive played in a while. You get a lot of play for the $$ and there are even bonus levels at the end. While we got stuck on occasion we never needed a walkthrough but simply put it down for a while. Coming back later was always rewarding! We never wanted Roterra to end. Graphics are charming and gameplay is challenging sometimes but always fun. Great game and we preordered the upcoming sequel. Cant wait. Bring it devs.
Excellent spiritual successor to Monument Valley. We loved the way the worlds were based upon cubes, and the mechanics that involved 2nd characters. Music was a tad repetitive and we'd personally like the ability to zoom in andout, along with being able to pan and spin independently of movement, but these are minor quibbles that don't otherwise detract from a quality offering. All in all this was a great little game from this dev team and we're excited to see what else they deliver in the future. If anyone is on the fence after seeing the very few negative reviews, ignore them and look at all the 4 and 5 star ones and remember that there's some folk out there who delight in criticizing even though they themselves would be unable to do any better. We're a cheap so and so. We very very rarely pay for games (preferring to wait for either free or heavily discounted ones), and rarer see till do we pay for any from new developers with no proven track record. Tickled pink we gambled and won with this one.
We liked the game….It just made our tablet over heat, & get really hot every time we played it. & yes, we closed everything else open.
Love the puzzle solving elements of the game. We got stumped a couple of times, but eventually it was solved. Thank you.
A beautifully designed game thats well worth the cost. At every level; we feared that it would be over because so many games of this caliber are far too short. While we wish it couldve continued forever; a full 20 levels of challenging (but not too challenging), exquisitely conceived game play, left us feeling satisfied.
We finished this game in a few days (so we do wish there were more levels). The game was fun and different. Would definitely play any other versions or new games that come out by these LADIES <3.
Love it. It seems like time can go by without any meaning. No rush involved. No timer. A little bit awkward the ups and downs, but through all the exploring, beautiful scenery to see. It doesnt really strain your thoughts to solve the puzzles, but here and there will be a struggle what makes this game interesting. Well done.
We had trouble in a few spots, and when we got near the end it was hard to tell which way we were supposed to go since it was zoomed in. As aggravating as it was, though, we really enjoyed it.
Its challenging and engaging. It could have better character design graphics and some sort of scripted backstory to get you started. However, Its one of the best Ive played available in the AppStore. Worth every penny we paid for it.
We loved this. It is the impossible angles with a twist kind of puzzle with soothing music and settings. We admit that several of the puzzles towards the end drove us crazy in a good way. You just have to step back and look at it again with a fresh eye. We know there are even helps, cute little plants or marks but with a brain injury that actually sent us off in a weird path. The hubby said it was logical (we are not) so we kept them up for the garden alone. The developers also offer other help when needed..WOO HOO….they actually care enough to see everyone through this if needed. We were able to finish with only a long stretches and it was a great way to relax (doing something difficult IS our way of having fun). We love the impossible physics type games…reminds us of us. We SO hope another setting or chapter will be in the works. We want to sign up now! Thank you to all who made this delightful treat! We used to do closed game testing and it is always noticeable when the game team have created a flawless little treat for us. Thanks for the time it took to be away from family while getting this out to us. More please? Oh, we know you are also educators, this was great fun for someone who also has dyslexia (we think that actually helps) and ADHD AND was a teacher). THANK YOU.
Fun game. Not hard but nicely done. Took our time because we didnt want it to end. Would really enjoy a sequel.
This was a really great game and a lot of fun. It was challenging, but not impossible. We have downloaded many games that lure you in with an easy beginning, but when you are well into the game it becomes impossible without clues or walkthroughs. Well done. Need more games like this.
Puzzles require some thought but not to the point your exasperated.
This game is very well designed, is fun to play, and has a wonderful 3D rotation element to it. It gradually gets more difficult, without getting frustrating. We never had to use hints the whole time. All 20 levels are solidly designed and thoughtfully laid out. Would love an expansion pack with more levels or a sequel game that uses the same engine. Hats off to the devs for something different and a step forward.
A few cool levels and then frustration and endless restarts kick in and the fun factor drops. Too hard for us and "casual" fun goes away. Deleted, and goodbye to our $2. Our own stupid fault.
The people comparing this game to Monument Valley are being ridiculous. Two completely different games. As for this game, the graphics are bleh, the music is eh, the story is nonexistent and the animations are amateur hour at best. All in all we wasted 2 bucks.
We really enjoyed this game, its got a good balance of playability, difficulty, and play hours. The mechanics of environment manipulation/controls work really well. Great job.
This game is by far the best new game we have played in years! The developers created a world that is visually captivating and feels very M. C. Escher-ish at times. It was challenging enough to feel satisfied when completing a level, without being so difficult that we lost interest or had to go in search of cheats. We didnt realize it was only 20 levels, so was super bummed this morning when it was over. Is there a chance for a sequel or other similarly designed game in the future? Thanks for the fun.
We havent played such an addicting game in a long time. (As the other two comments stated: monument valley on steroids – we had to give it a try) this game is sooooo fun! The design and layout is beautiful and gameplay is simple, at first we thought it was going to be an easy game to beat. However the levels increase in difficulty so softly you wont notice until you are really stuck! We love this game and we hope the creators make a second.
This game is GREAT so far. Like the other review we have to agree it reminds us of Monument Valley as well! We finished both of those games and wanted more. This is way better! :) Great Job.
We absolutely love this game! Its great stimulation for the brain. Each level becomes more difficult or offers something different. The type of person that gets bored with this game probably masters everything in 5 minutes and gets bored with everything! We for one am enjoying every second while experiencing a multitude of emotions, from frustration to elation but never boredom. Im disappointed that we only have two levels left. And the icing on the cake is that their is no in-app purchase just the small up front fee. More than worth it.
This game is a great adventure with amazing graphics! If you like puzzles and also relaxing in a fairy-tale world, you will love this game! Please make more adventures!!! We already want MORE.
This sort of game is way outside our comfort zone, but we loved it. The graphics are spectacular, and the various tools for solving the levels are clever. We hope there will be a sequel.
The levels ramp up slowly, then BAM they get challenging, sometimes very challenging. The cutscenes are poor and storyline is somewhat incidental, but the puzzles are a lot of fun. Ive been playing this for days and days pretty intensively, so there is a lot of gameplay in it.
Best game from App Store in many years. Nice work gals. Lets get Part 2 going.
Challenging, some levels kept us stuck for a while, but forced us to think outside the box as it were. Always look for the one area that you have bypassed. We truly enjoyed having extra characters that worked in tandem. All the levels were creative and intricate in how they worked with the next levels. It came as a surprise and a bit of a disappointment that we won. We demand more!!! ;-).
