User Reviews on Royal Detective: The Princess

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Royal Detective: The Princess below:

Elephant Games & Big Fish team together for another great game. Good story which follows the others in this series well. We throughly enjoyed the game play. Challenging but not impossible puzzles and HOPs. Worth the money.

Contrary to other reviews, we enjoyed this game. Kept us entertained to the end. Just have the bonus game to complete. Thanks to the developer.

It not a short game but it could be longer. The puzzles are more difficult that usual, even in casual mode. Compared to other games this story is very simple. We still enjoyed it for what its worth.

We really liked this sweet little game. Lots of puzzles, which we like. We especially enjoyed the lava tile puzzle, it was something we hadnt seen before. Varied hos, but nothing new. We felt the game was about average in length. If you like puzzles, and want an offering that is not dark and gruesome like most are, then you will thoroughly enjoy this game!

Is anyone else having the problem trying to unlock this game ? Cant even get to the page it just keeps telling us purchase failed. We have not even seen the page where we put our password in.

… Although the mini games were a bit tedious and the text font too tiny.

Some of the mini puzzles dont work well. The guide gives a very cursory picture of the finished puzzle. Its difficult to finish without using the skip button.

There were several places on each location that were blocks of white, including some of the inventory. Very hard to play parts of the scenes are blocked out.

We dont like all the glowing boxes floating around. Its really bad on our eyes. We like the actual game but we dont like the graphics.

Games too hard plus all the seek n find objects written in text are excruciatingly tiny.. Otherwise its just a 3game.

They dont give you enough of the game for free to know if you want to buy it.

Note to KimTwilight: Hello our friend. We hope youre well. We didnt see a review from you in regards to this dull game or the new offering from Artifex Mundi. We hope youre traveling and not just sitting around knitting, lol! Although you wouldnt strike us as someone who knits. Dont bother with this game. Believe us we are doing you, Dracyy, and Catalina a favor. This charming little fantasy-themed game would have been terrific if we were a ten-year old child. Although we generally love Elephant Games, we were extremely underwhelmed. Of course you were provided with the usual bells and whistles: customizable settings, pleasant graphics, a teleport map which indicated outstanding collectibles, and complex items. Collectibles were morphing statuettes and dog figurines. You had a little stone dog golem to assist you; however we found it extremely annoying because it kept running in circles and that was causing us to experience vertigo. The storyline was simplistic. The HO scenes had variation, but no real creativity, challenge or innovative elements were present. There was a plethora of tasks to accomplish at each location. The puzzles/games were for the most part boring rotational junk, which we actually forced myself to do because we had nothing better to do. We didnt experience any glitches because this developer always provides an excellent standard of quality assurance. There were a couple of puzzles which were thought provoking but not overly enjoyable. The game was very brief, inclusive of the bonus adventure. We were bored to tears! BigFish, if you are only going to give us one game per week, at least give us a challenging and lengthy blockbuster. We have been loyal to you and now we expect better than this trifling little snooze-fest. We surely hope that the new release from Artifex Mundi is a winner! Our rating will remain at 2 stars, because this game was so dull, trite and uninspired. Happy gaming to all! Dont waste your money on this game unless you are purchasing it for a child, and if so please make sure you get it on sale. UPDATE: Note to Corntiques: we couldnt wait for the game to end either! We sure hope the next game from Elephant is either a Grim Tales or a Haunted Hotel, but something that at least piques our interest. One thing that has us bemused, and we are sure youll agree, is that the rating for this game on the App Store is 4.5 stars, and so far all the reviews we have read are rated at 2 stars or less. We havent seen reviews from some of our regulars but we doubt they will rate much higher.

12/28/18 ADVENTURE GAMING COMPENDIUM, PART I: Gamers may want to try the following game developers & publishers in light of Big Fish selling out for casino money. Artifex Mundi: started with Big Fish and now publishes its own HOAGs as well as HOAGs from game developers Brave Giant, Cordelia, House of Fables, Moonlight Interactive, Sunward Games, One More Level, So Digital, Two Desperadoes, and World-Loom Games. G5 Entertainment: similar to Big Fish. Publishes HOAGs from Artifex Mundi, Fenimen and Shaman Games, among others. Haiku Games: excellent free point and click adventure games, which include tons of minigames but not necessarily hidden object puzzles. Rumpus Animation: they publish the Bertram Fiddle series, which is very witty. Discover and use items as part of gameplay. Five-BN UK: terrific series such as Darkness and Flame, Lost Lands, The Legacy and our favorite, New York Mysteries. Absolutist: publishes its own HOAGs as well as HOAGs and adventure games from AZ-Art Studios, Lazy Turtle and Shaman Games, among others. We recommend the amusing Witchs Pranks: Frogs Fortune, although it is a little short. Pendulo Studios: known for the Journey Down, Runaway, Hollywood Monster and Yesterday adventure game series. Not aware of any HOAGs. Beware that one of the Runaway Games has a game-ending glitch (everyone comments on it so you will know before you purchase). Alawar: like Artifex Mundi, Alawar started with Big Fish then branched out on its own. Publishes its own HOAGs as well as adventure games from Tikis Lab and Wellore. We recommend the Dark Angels, House of 1000 Doors, Lake House, Paranormal Pursuit, Stray Souls and Weird Park HOAG series (note that Big Fish has some bf not all of the related games). Animation Arts Creative GmbH: develops the Lost Horizon and Secret Files adventure game series. Application Systems Heidelberg Software: developed the lengthy adventure game Nelly Cootalot and The Fowl Fleet. Microids: develops and publishes HOAGs and adventure games, including the Syberia adventure game series, Red Johnsons Chronicles adventure game series (may not be publicly available any longer), and one of our favorite, Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders. (This isnt a HOAG, its the quintessential detective game.) Microids also publishes HOAGs and adventure games for Anuman Interactive and Pendulo Studios, among others. If you love quirky hidden gems, try the Tova point and click series as well as Freda and the sequel, all developed by Biscuit Placebo and published by Jens Staaf; and Kelvin and the Infamous Machine, written and published by Blyts. ORIGINAL GAME REVIEW: There was nothing in the trial that persuaded us to pay for additional gameplay. The game is sloppy, both in appearance and content. By way of example: -Each minigame fit one of two extremes: it was either a cakewalk, or irrational to the point of faux difficulty. In a couple cases, the minigame had to be skipped because not even the guide demonstrated what the answer was or why. -The HOPs were mostly word lists with a few plus items (yawn). However, the cursor was finicky in item selection, making it impossible to complete an otherwise easy HOP without a "miss." -There were several scenes and puzzles where it was very easy to inadvertently click "outside the box" and shut it down repeatedly. This drove us nuts. -The storyline was agonizingly convoluted in a failed attempt to link this game to earlier games in the series. -There are two sets of collectibles (statuettes and morphing items), but the tutorial and map only include statuettes. Our rating is 2.5, rounded down to 2 because we have played 3-star games that are much better than this. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how many 2-star ratings the actual players leave, since the fake 5-star ratings planted by Big Fish and friends always artificially inflate the average.

The flashing shapes are just plain annoying. This is where a stylistic attemp to be different fails.

Take away the interference. Its annoying.

The only positives are the varied and interactive HOPs. And, we enjoyed the animation. The graphics are well executed. We found that the puzzles are difficult. After completing the Bonus games you cannot return to find the missing collectibles. Refresh rate is slow. We couldnt wait for the game to end.

This is just one of the few games that we cannot play because the graphics are all messed up making it unplayable. There is a review from a year ago stating the same problem. How long does it take to fix this issue? We really want to play all of your games because they are so good. We are playing your games on an iPad mini 5.

This seemed like a good game, until we tried to play it. It has white triangles all over the screen, making it impossible to see much of anything. When a game comes up it is impossible to play because of how much of the screen is covered with either white or pink, sometimes fading in and out. Most of the scenes have a pink line across the bottom third of the screen. Many of these obstructions pulse in and out, unpredictably. This is a waste of time and money. We want our money back!

For $6.99 we expect a game to not be buggy and the graphics able to be seen so we can actually play the puzzles and not have to skip the majority of them. Instead, besides cut scenes, we get highlighted boxes, blown out contrast on some items, and some items are thoroughly obscured by jumping and fading boxes and pixels. Poor quality for the price.

White boxes around items, pulsing hot pink light across the screen, pixels, just awful on iPad Pro.

The game has a purple bar that goes in and out, all the graphics are chopped and we cant see anything in the game. Usually the games are great, but this one needs some updating and stabilizing.

Game locks up in hidden object game.

We’ve already paid for this game but when we tried to re-download it, white rectangles cover the screen when we open it and the game wont work. We have paid for every single one of your games you have put out but can only replay the most recent ones. We’ve heard the same thing from other iPhone users. Please fix this. None of these games are worth the money to play only once or twice.

We like playing hidden object games but we are struggling with this one because of the extraneous graphics that make the scenes hard to see and navigate. Im relying on the hint button way too often which isn’t fun and some of the games are hard to solve because the graphics make them hard to work. We would not recommend this game and would like a refund actually.

It is very hard to make out images with all the color variations across the screen. Like watching a bad tv screen.

We dont know if its a glitch and a pink rectangle and blue square around the items and its so annoying we wont be buying this game please fix this glitch thanks.

Cant play this game because broken picture, hard to see.

We love Big Fish and the hidden object games theyve created. Unfortunately, when we installed this game on our iPhone X pro, it had major graphic issues making it pretty much unplayable. It has a white border around all the interactive pictures in the scene. We tried uninstalling and redownloading but had the same issue unfortunately. If they are able to fix this issue, Id be happy to change our review as we have no doubt this would be a great game.

Game is not working. Screens are not fully loaded so cannot understand what needs to be done.

Well we went to buy this game despite very short trial. And it failed half a dozen times. As we were over charged for the last game on sale we are sceptical about anything bought from this website. There good for pc games but fall flat for anything else, and in show no desire to fix it. You get deals on pc but not anywhere else. Doubt it matters to them as response has been terrible. Save you money play demo and delete till they choose that more people r using tablets than clunky computers.

But you cant see anything the pixels are messed up.

Would love to be able to play this game. It has huge technical problems. We want our money back. We feel we have been scammed by Big Fish. Dont buy this game.

The whole screen is permeated withdistracting lines, shapes, etc. Does not work on iPad 4th gen 2020.

Just downloaded this game and it is all jacked up! Pixelated graphics are awful!

This app does not render properly on iPad and should be so noted in the App Store.

Rey disappointed! We paid full price, and its not working. Everything is just floating in little glowing boxes. Refund, please! We own over a hundred of these games. Refund our money and we will buy something else.

Big fish games has not released any new games since 2018, and this 2018 game does not work on newer devices weird graphic and audio glitches make it unplayable. Thats why BF games are always very discounted… They probably wont work. To find newer and latest games from your favorite Big Fish developers (such as Elephant Games, one of the best BF devs in our opinion) search the App Store for their name specifically.

What are you thinking??? How does a glowing eyed – YAPPING – canine helper add ANY value, much less interest, to this game…??? Any game…. Its such a major detraction from the brilliant graphics and beautiful Princess…. We deleted it. STOP INCLUDING THESE RIDICULOUS PETS Q: we mean, where do you conduct your user testing…?? At isolated Walmarts in the Deep South ..?? Did Bubba or Junior win some contest and was able to suggest ita be neat…?? Good Grief…. (or Gravy ….

The flashing area at the bottom of the screen is annoying.
