The Runaway series is one of the greatest point and click puzzle adventure games ever! You will love how it begins in this 1st series, then Runaway Dream of the Turtle enhanced graphics and story is amazing. Lastly, Runaway Twist of Fate is a whole new adventure. These are a must series to play, you will not regret it PROMISE!! Five Star Game.
We should have headed the other reviews. Every time we tap the inventory button it crashessad. Ill need a fix or a refund.
The game crashes constantly, and the characters all move too slowly. We mean physically. You could probably finish the game in an hour, but the characters walk so slowly it octuples the play time.
We paid for this game which we rarely do but we really liked the style of game play so we thought what the heck. Anyway Im stuck where you give the mint chewing tobacco to the big guy. When we tell him we need help the game glitches and on the screen it says well its but it wont say that we need a huge rock moved so we cant progress in the game.
Ive played this game before and wanted to replay recently. Unfortunately, its completely unplayable from the very first minute bc anytime we try to open or use the inventory the game crashes. Ive tried all the routine fixes and nothings working.
We like the game and the easy interface but after we completed the first mission the game glitched and froze. We went back to the saved point and at the same spot it glitched again.
All we want to do is play the game but we have to go through this whole annoying story mode that we couldnt care less about.. If we could skip the stories that would be one thing but its not even allowing us to skip that story that is just pointless! We havent even been able to play the game because of the stupid story.
We love this game, but its stuck! Im in the hangar waiting to put the pill in the beer and its just stuck on the dialogue that we better get out of there. We dont want to start from the beginning.
Great sets/artwork, great background music, great storyline, great puzzles. This is a full production value game. We had no issues on iPhone 5. A complete walk through is available on gameboomers. Funny, clever and well thought out. These guys are talented. Thanks for hours and hours of fun.
We think this game could be good but it falls flat with the storytelling.
We played older games from the Runaway Series on a DSi awhile back but ever since we started using iPhones/iPads [iOS], it's all we play on & this game "A Road Adventure" was the 1st from that series we've played on iOS. We truly love these kind of games and hope this isn't really the last Runaway game because we've thoroughly and completely enjoyed playing them all (Most we mean)… Except for that "hidden object" one….we soooooo dislike hidden object games and must be TRULY EXTREMELY bored to even attempt to play one…and honestly….we genuinely cannot understand why most game sections are overflowing with hidden object games!?!?! Anyway, as for this game ["Runaway: A Road Adventure"] however… We wish he could walk faster or just get from point A to point B much faster like he did on previous games in the series. We haven't had any crashes thankfully ….but ….and this is a MAJOR BUT…. We recently went to play this game after not playing for a few weeks or so & keep in mind, nothing had changed since we last played this game. Same iPad, same iOS version, we hadn't updated or made changes of any kind. So we clicked Runaway game icon, it loaded same player icon as always….we then clicked PLAY and that's when we freaked!!! We see Brian doing his INTRO and we were like "Wh-hat…Wh-hyyy? What Happened?!?!?" …we restarted it & same thing. Checked our settings & showed that game was listed in backups….but there was no mistake….it was gone! ALL our progress…ALL those hours of gameplay…. GONE!!! For no reason!!! We had gotten SOOOO far in the game & really was devastated about having to START OVER! Even worse, is that there really is no way to actually save your game progress or even just make sure your game is being saved at all, which ALWAYS bugged us but we've never had trouble with that… Until now. Soooooo…..as much as we loved and wanted to finish this game, we just haven't been able to motivate ourselves to go thru such a LONG and VERY SLOW moving (especially with the new speed challenged Brian) portion of this game AGAIN after we'd been so proud about getting through so much of it already [without using hints no less]. On top of it all, we'd be constantly worrying about losing it all over again and that would just make us crazy. We're over being angry about it and now we're just disappointed really and can only say that it might be because we do not buy apps or games easily but this purchase was a rare no-brainer for us. We already enjoyed all the other Runaway games (except u know, hidden object one lol) along with "Yesterday" and now "Hollywood Monsters". We were actually REALLY excited to find this game SO LONG after EXTREMELY enjoying all the other Runaway games …then relentlessly searching for ANYTHING similar to play, with no luck. Only to become sad again finding out that this may finally be the last game from the Runaway series and we can't play it. We're hoping maybe after a very very long time we'll forget what we already played & may become interested in starting again and finally finishing it….of course trouble-free then.
This is far less a game than a tediously long narrative story, and way too long before any game interaction. The latter of which we still haven't even gotten to, yet. We can't believe we actually purchased this.
Agreed! Game play is fun. Could use a help button that gives you hints. Though that wouldn't help much when the screen freezes, which happens a lot. Then it will just open, play for a sec then freeze with audio still playing. Had to delete it. (Also iPhone6+).
Crashes a lot on an iPhone 6. The characters will be in incorrect locations then crash. Our current game is not playable. The game crashed and now our saved game opens to a black screen with game audio. The ability to load previous saved locations needs to be added to the home screen, and not just the in game menu.
We made it to the part in the museum where Brian runs off because Gina is in danger, bam we getter booted off the game. We have tried 6 times and it keeps happening. Please fix so we can continue the game? We spent $4.99 for nothing.
This game is one of our top favorite games. Couple of days ago we remembered we hadn't even finished it on pc because of a crash in Hopi village part. So we downloaded app and started playing and enjoyed so much. We love Pendulo Studios! BUT…the same problem that had kept us from finishing the game years ago happened again. Yep it CRASHED but this time a little further in the game. Precisely, in CHAPTER 6 in the middle of the cutscene where Gina is telling the story of Johnny the Indian. Brian says "so we don't exactly know if he's had the money." Gina says "yes we do!" and CRASH!!! Dear developers please fix this problem. As you can see in the reviews, so many others have the same problem of crashing in different parts. Please help! We want to finish this game so badly.
It crashed on us when we were to make the sounds for the alien communication device but when we go back, it no longer triggers for us. We hope we don't have to start over.
The screen goes black after melting the ice to escape from the mobsters. Audio works, you can tap around and still see the item indicators flash if you accidentally tap where an interactive object is but you can't see anything! We are also playing on an ipad air 2 that has NOT been jail broken. Don't buy this game until they fix it, you'll be wasting your money.

Fun game, great graphics, nice voice overs, but impossible to play without a walk through. We found one quickly on the web and have enjoyed the game and can continue when we hit a wall.
We are not totally ready to throw in the towel yet–this has been a fun game! After the long cutscene with the medium and then Gina's confession, CRASH! It is kind of sucky because to try to see if we can make it works means sitting through it again!!! And again.
Reading reviews from over a year ago, it seems like this is a consistent problem. No update.
Can't get past the museum, because the game keeps crashing on our iPhone 5s after a cut scene where the gangsters shoot the maintenance guy and the cross is finished being scanned in the lab. It crashed constantly earlier at the hospital also at the end of a cut scene trying to escape the hospital but somehow just by tapping randomly on the screen we were able to get past that. We have uninstalled, reinstalled and played and it still crashes at the same points in the game. And we can never get past the museum. Extremely frustrating! Other than that, the game is (so far) generally pretty good however the controls are too close to the bottom of our iPhone screen and it keeps wanting to pull up the pop up quick settings menu. Some of the characters' voices are generally good, but several, including lead guy's is simply awful. Have heard much better voiceovers on other games. At those points, we have to simply turn off the volume and read the subtitles to get a better gaming experience. Maybe the sequels have much better voice over work?!? Well, here's to hoping at least.
Downloaded this game several months ago and it kept crashing at the same spot. We assumed that the problem was with our iPad 3 not being powerful enough and uninstalled the game. Today we tried installing it on our iPad Air and it wouldn't load from our computer. We went to the App Store and all of a sudden the game wants another 5 bucks to download again. The game kept crashing then wants more money to make it work. We don't think so.
We downloaded the app but the problem is that it dosent work on earlier devices… Can you make it work for earlier devices because we spent money on this app and now we can even use it.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! This game does not work with iOS 7. The other game Hollywood Monsters. It would have been nice if the developer of this game would have made a notation before we purchased this game. Total disappointment.
We can't finish the game it keeps crashing right after he wakes up in chp 6.
Not only did we have to start all over again after passing the third part, we can't pass the second part now either because the game refuses to let us pick up the empty coffee bag from the waste basket. If we could give this fame negative stars we would.
It happens in iPhone 4S, please fix the crashes ASAP! BTW we have to say that the graphic is awesome.
Fantastic game – far and above any other adventure game currently out there EXCEPT for one huge problem. Chapter 6 crash after seance won't let us finish the game. Very sad – hope you fix this! Otherwise, great graphics, voice acting, story, humor, adventure.
It's fun at first at few bugs but not much on iPad2. The only problem.. We have tried everything on the combination in chapter4 even the cheats were they tell you what to do. Nothing works! The closest we have got is 4 in the right order and 4 in compilation.. Not once has it EVER said any number five.. It's irritating.. Please fix this.
Update: (June 13) we removed it again from our phone… We then left it removed for all of yesterday. We reinstalled it this morning and we're happy to say that we got through the first cut-scene but the second chapter start one that we were having trouble with before… In fact, we just now am at the point where you wake up in the desert. So try that to all the people's who be crashing: uninstall, wait a day, then reinstall. Lame but it worked for us. You now get three stars and we will re-rate higher once we complete, provided it doesn't cause us any more grief. Update: (June 11) After the update you guys released, we made it to the part where they are talking about how filthy the crucifix is…. And then CRASH! We don't think y'all fixed it after all. Also, just removed from our phone (losing all data) and reinstalled… CRASHED on the first cutscene… You fixed nothing. We got a new iPhone 5 on the 5th. We purchased this app yesterday the 6th (June 2013). First impressions about this game got us excited. Second impressions got us even more excited. Now we've just about had it with this game. We've had to watch the same cutscenes numerous times throughout gameplay. Like another review, the game freezes and then the phone restarts. It is the most aggravating thing we can imagine happening in a game where you are forced to watch cutscenes. Currently, after figuring out the hospital and finally escaping, a cutscene happens that must be near 5 mins but we couldn't tell you for sure because no matter what, at some point, it crashes our phone. We've tried pressing the home button twice and clearing out all the background noise as well as plugging our phone into the wall hoping that would work… It didn't. Then finally we get to the words indicating the next chapter has begun (after watching the cutscene 6 times or so) and we're thinking, "finally! It probably saves the game when that happens so we don't have to watch this bleeping cutscene again!" Nope… The next scene begins with another cutscene at the smithsonian or some museum and Wham! The game crashes and we have to start back at the bloody hospital, and will have to endure the seemingly endless cutscene again with our phone most likely crashing again. Other games work fine… Not this one. Suggestion: make the cutscenes skip-able or create more save points in them so after watching something for 5 mins we don't have to do it again because the developers over-extended the resources of the phone in regards to this game. We're just a little ticked off because not only did we invest $5 on this but we've invested our time and that's worth way more. Thanks for a great concept and terrible execution of that concept. For shame. We want our money back.
We also am enduring the cut scene crashes, as well as a crash when in the hospital room. This is unfortunate, because the gameplay and plot were showing promise of some good time spent with a decent adventure game. On the upside…we did find out how to "hard reboot" our iPad, as it was the only way we could recover from the freeze/crash scenario. Please release a more efficient patch Bulkypix, and we will continue along our merry gaming way.
We are having the same problem as everyone else. Would like to enjoy the game but its impossible when it keeps crashing.
The game keeps crashing after the Sance even after your update.
Looks promising but crashes our iphone 5 in first cut scene you cant skip it so you have to watch through it its a hard crash where it reboots our phone lack of qa testing? Maybe not ready for a release? Dev team please fix soon as possible, if you are reading all the reviews we shouldnt pay for an application where you cant get through first 3 minutes if it helps, ours crashes soon after the initial hospital scene but its not consistent after that when it crashes.
Ya this app crashes way too much! We can't even get outta the city scene at the beginning and CRASH!!!! It's ridiculous!!!! Fix and we'll rate it again.
Our game crashes also at the onset of chapter two and the cutscenes to get to the Crash is sooo long. Basically this game is broken, so don't buy until the reviews change based on a published fix. Make Bulkypix earn money only by having an acceptable product.
Great reincarnation of this classic adventure game! The game has some bugs although works fine on iPad mini. For future updates we suggest to make Brian moving to another location much faster (skip the long-walks).

Please check why it's crashing on the very first video [iphone 5 – iOS 6.1.2] Path: Launch the game > Create character > See video of first chapter "Gina in hospital" > Moment when Gina's "father" is talking about crucifix Description: In the moment when Gina's "father" is talking about crucifix, sound and video stops for 5 seconds and after it the phone will restart displaying apple logo. Thank you for this game.
We didn't have the crashing problem that others seemed to have. This is a great game with a great story, and its worth the five bucks in our opinion.
It's exactly like Flavacraze says. Game crashes on cutscenes on iPhone 5 (6.1.4). Second chapter introduction, CRASH and you have to start from the BEGINING. That's absurd. We hate it right now… And it's $5 we hope you guys are fixing this or we will never buy nothing from you.
