You don’t have to buy max stats and beat the game. You could just download and start and beat the game without paying. Just a suggestion. Love it. Underrated gem.

The story elements were engaging, and the need to stay in an area to level up made it a bit more challenging. We were surprised when it was over so soon, but it makes a great start to their game series.

Was looking for something like this took us back to the old Final Fantasy games on the NES which we absolutely loved it thank you very much and keep up the great work.

Ok, so there were a few annoying things, but when you do reach the end you realize this is a fist title release for these programmers. Its a simple fun RPG… We thoroughly enjoyed it and now Im downloading the sequel!

Wonderful little RPG for fans of Final Fantasy on the NES or Dragon Warrior. Although not as deep or story driven, this little gem will have you wanting more by the time its finished. Wonderful job and looking forward to more installments and longer games!

Finally, finally! A game of the true old-school type that isn’t based on cards and isn’t so graphic-y that it detracts from the experience. We’ve been waiting for something like this for a long, long time.

This reminds us of the classic rpgs of our childhood!

Great throwback to classic RPG.

Fast paced rpg. It is a bit short but we were expecting a long drawn out game. Very fun and fast paced. Playing the sequel now. Definitely would recommend.

Like Dragon Warrior on original Nintendo. Fun and easy. We would have liked a more boffo ending, but a delight nevertheless.

The Saga Series is AWESOME! We just wish they came back and made a third game. This is some old school, well-done RPG amazingness! The journey is long, but when it’s over, you’ll be left longing for more. It’s rare that we rate an app 5 stars, but Saga and its sequel deserve it!

Love the premise. Nothing wrong with going back to the basics. Couldn’t put the game down and binge played straight through to the end. More!!!!!

Very much a bare bones presentation, but well-executed and lots of fun. Ads are not intrusive particularly compared with many other free rpgs.

Simple mechanics, fun, extremely fast paced dungeon crawler really lets you see progress. We would rate lower for it being short but there is a second game! We’ve played through this game multiple times and it’s a fun game to come back to after years.

We needed a game to play when we were someplace and had to kill time, or when our gf was driving. Perfect. Thanks.

If youre a veteran of old-school dungeon crawlers of the 8-bit era, you should try this. No real background story, and its short, but so what? Youre a fighter guy, and you are there to fight monsters and snag loot what else do you need to know? You dont need a mini-map, as the game gives you location coordinates. Keep track of your HP, remember to upgrade your gear, and above all, have fun!

We really enjoyed playing this game. It reminded us of the first RPG games we played in the 1980s. Very old-school, but fun, and well-thought-out (in a retro way). It’s a cute way to show grandchildren "this is what the games were like when we were your age… This is how it all started." Kind of short, but looking forward to the sequel.

Fun short game, we would have loved some chill background music.

We love the app which is why its five stars get it?! Alright just wanted to STOP in lol. This is Fri. BriFri.

Been playing for a couple weeks off-and-on. Its a cute little rpg reminiscent of something like the original Final Fantasy. Walk around the map, complete quests and fight random monsters. As you win, you go up levels, becoming stronger and gaining better gear. This game has all the staples.

Was looking for an RPG like the old ones. This game is great! We are very pleased that there is a second one to download. Thanks to the developers for creating an old style RPG.

Proves you don’t need excellent graphics to make a great game. No big story but game play works very well.

If you are a fan of old Nintendo rpgs or even very old computer rpgs you will love this game. They even made a second one after this one with added features (map and exp counter that tells you how much until next level) we just want to say good work to the developers and thanks. Idk how hard it is to look into making an mmorpg phone game but this simple platform with friends would be great.

It is a fun short dungeon crawler type app. Was going to be upset that their was no map, but once explored, it wasn’t needed as each of the 5 areas are limited enough to not need it.

This is a great game! Keep it up!

We enjoyed this game every much and Im glad there is a second one. If the developers make any more games we will definitely play them.

Great game all together. We wish you guys would have kept up with the story and add more adventures and maps. It would be super cool. Loved what you did with this simple but fun game. Keep it up.

This entertained us for a few hours. We’re always down for some old school RPG action, and this doesn’t disappoint. We wish there was a smattering of comedy, but that’s just the flavor of old RPG we love, not a criticism. <3.

This game is well done and is retro styled. The demands for mini maps and such would ruin the fun of the game. The whole point of the game is to explore it. It’s very hard to get overly lost unless you’re just moving around and not even glancing at your surroundings. The complaints about not being able to beat areas and not being able to just buy your way to max stats and beat the game. This game is a RPG. Go buy a better weapon or farm a little to level up. We finished the game with little to no farming at all so it’s definitely possible. We’re currently downloading the sequel now. Keep this up. We love where you’re going with this.

Too short but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Just downloaded the second one. Have really missed these older games.

We personally loved the this game it has A cool retro style look and is fun to play. But we think it is too short. We beat it in A quarter of a day but it was fun though.

This game is a lot of fun with it’s small download but the only thing is that when you start the game it’s just that. Nothing. For about 15 minutes we had no idea what to do where to go or anything. If the developers add just 1 line of text at the start of the game say what to do and maybe a mini map you can pull up it would be 100% better.

It’s what it says it is: really simple RPG. Quick (I beat it in a morning) and simple, but we enjoyed it. Even downloaded the next game in the series. If you like NES or SNES Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior games, you’ll like this.

Saga RPG bills itself as a "retro" RPG. If anything, it indicates that without a story, interesting characters, or appealing graphics, the mechanics of "retro" RPGs boil down to level grinding and not much else.

Is a great game, for an experiment is awesome. Need some minor improvements like an actual quest and where to go. But like it. Is short but a blast.

Keep making games like this! These kinds of games on the App Store are rare!

We know this game was made to test the waters of the market for this type of game, and we hope that there are plenty of people as stoked on it as we am. Constructive criticism/personal preference: we play on an iPad mini and we hold it upright and use our thumbs for controls. It crossed our mind that if the control buttons were a little taller, we wouldn’t flub it as often. We wouldn’t mind if finding Lisa, rescuing cold-and-hungry man, etc. Were side objectives. Slightly more interactive gameplay, more storyline, and interactive dialogue wouldn’t go amiss, we think. As soon as we finish this review we intend to download the next Saga. Thank you so much for creating this game!!! Keep on keepin on, -PG.

We enjoyed this free app. It brought back several good memories and we had little frustration over the game’s play.

Great final fantasy style game, we like the simple fight mechanics. The only issue that bothered us was, we couldn’t hold down the directional, lol you’re going somewhere and tap tap tap tap tap. Other than that wonderful game, really takes us back!

When we say rpg of the century don’t take it literal. But we started the game 4 days ago. Finished it and now we’re writing a review. It is classic style of an rpg and is a amazing game. It’s very enjoyable but can be a task to get through. But that adds to the joy.

We are a fan of old RPG games. We loved the old Ultima and Phantasie games. The absolute best were the Gold Box D&D games. There are very few apps that aim to recreate those games. While overly simplistic, this game has the basic elements of those classic games and is a step in the right direction! Although short and very linear, it’s still fun and nostalgic.

This game is a breath of old stinky air and we love it! Reminds us of the old dungeon crawler RPGs from our childhood. Everyone should try it out. Those who love it move up to the next one as well. Off we gooooooo!

We still love this style of gaming we just wish it had more in the way of upgrades such as better swords with abilities and such would b amazing.

It’s fun and simple. Plus free. Can’t complain.
