We're so glad we were able to get this on the App Store.
The platforming is amazing. It's so elaborate that we'v gotten lost a few times. There's exploring to be done. Lots of it. We'v currently already spent 12 hours and 18 minutes on it and we're still not finished. The NPCs say funny things that change every time the story advances. The animation and music is all very nice. If we had one complaint, it would be that we wish it would be even bigger, but we guess we're asking for too much. This is by far our favorite mobile game ever.

This is our favorite game. At first it was hard to get the controls down, but we got used to it quick. Also we love the music and characters, especially Shantae. Shantae is bae.

This game is super awesome except for the cheesy graphics at times. It's kinda like metroid/castlevania. Whoever thinks this is racist needs to lighten up and grow a pair, you must be offended 100 times in your daily life if a cartoon video game can offend you. No one cares if you are offended, get over yourself.
The graphics are detailed, the combat is fun, and the game is so great that it makes you forget that THIS IS AN INDIE GAME. We got this free when it was free for like a week and it was great. Thanks for porting it from the Game Boy Advance to the iOS. We never owned a GBA so this is great! ().
Everything was fabulous but we kinda got mad when in the end of the game it crashed on us… But overall the game is legit.
We love everything about this game, from its story to its gameplay. The side characters are everything from funny to adorable to even a little bit mysterious, and you may find yourself "accidentally" stopping by their places from time to time to speak to them and get a hint or two on what to do next. We even wanted to see Risky Boots more often than she came, and she's the main villain. The only two characters we found ourselves hating was the mayor of Scuttletown and Shantae's Uncle Mimic, but there was no need to worry, because they got punished for their damaging flaws by the end of the game in some way that was appropriate, not too kind nor too harsh. This game is perfect and anyone who doesn't experience it has no idea on what they're missing out on.
Reminiscent of binge worthy games of the past. Always something new to keep you engaged. We beat it in 7 hours.
This game is exactly what the iOS needs, as this is a port of a DSi game in full, this is a must have. It is a great title and also a great series. 10/10.

Excellent game it reminds us Mario bros saga & zelda in many aspects, our only complain is that it is too short, you can finish the game in few hours, if it was longer it would be best plattform game ever.

Reminds us of the old school metroid type platformers. Lots of power ups , huge levels, great puzzles, challenging bosses. We can't find anything wrong with this game. We haven't played the original but we've played tons of iOS games and this is now one of our favorites. Love it, and there's no IAP.

Without a single doubt, our favorite video game (tied with Sonic 3 & Knuckles). We love this game to pieces. This was our first Shantae game (would like it if the first and third game were in iOS too) and this was a series we've been interested in for a while. The gameplay is amazing, and the upgrades aren't too limited. We love how, similar, to Link Between Worlds, upgrades are limited by a magic meter instead of a numeral amount. This is something we wish a lot of other games could do too. The characters and storyline, while a little hollow on occasions, are filled with quirky writing, and funny 4th wall breaks and spoofs. The soundtrack is full of the mid-eastern-type world Shantae lives in whole being both atmospheric, and catchy. Since the rating system here is a bit limited. We rate this 9.5/10. We give high recommendations for any old school-platforming, retro, metroid-vania style gamers.
Since this game was originally developed for the Nintendo DS and 3DS systems, we were a bit hesitant when we heard it was receiving an iOS port. Well, our concerns were certainly put to rest! While they do take a little bit of getting used to at first, the controls for this game are actually pretty good. Shantae is just a lovable series. The gameplay is awesome, the story is surprisingly engossing, the characters are charming and endearing, the humor and animation style are both pretty tasteful…BAM! It's the whole shebang! So what are you waiting for?! Enter the world of Shantae and embark on a journey you will never forget.
We have loved Shantae ever since we played the game boy color game. When Risky's Revenge was released to the DS we imedediatley fell in love with it! We love the ios version and the new Shantae and the Pirates Curse is amazing. Good job Wayforward.
The graphics are good, the animations are great, and it's a must have 2D platformer. We hated the fact that the mermaid form didn't get to shine much; it was only use for tedious tasking, after the third dungeon. It's a short game for a good price. But we wish the 2nd dungeon was like the others than being an arena fight. Other than that, it's a great game that deserves more attention.

Well, we just finished this game yesterday, and there is only one word we can use to describe this: AMAZING. The graphics are great, the animations are smooth and the story and dialogue are very well written. We only have a couple of gripes with it. 1. Only one alternate costume is actually available. We think adding more would enhance the experience. 2. The story is a bit short. Maybe add some sort of DLC to extend the adventure so it doesn't just end so abruptly. That's all we have to say about this. (And the thanks to Chris Hoffman & Nintendo Power in the credits made us smile) Now, to anxiously wait for the sequel to become available. (Mighty Switch Force in HD would be nice too).
We love this game! We have an idea that you could also have Shantae Half Genie Hero as an app too.
Probably one of our favorite iOS games. Super polished, especially the animations which are the best part. We've even started speed running it. Only downside is the virtual buttons if you don't have a game pad.
Just beat this and will likely play through again to get 100% of the items. Controller support was great and this game is easily worth 4X what we paid for it. Best IOS game ever. Looking forward to more great games from Way Forward.
The update apparently only works with wired mifi controllers (ones that plug into the lightning port). It does not work with our Horipad on an iPhone 6s iOS 9.x Would give a fifth star if it supported controllers. This game is all about tight controls. You really need that controller for the best experience. 5 stars if you have a wired controller.
This game is a blast, and has some Metroidvania-type qualities. We would give it 5 stars, but it doesn't support official, Made For iPhone controllers (MFi). Now that there are officially supported controllers, if a game is going to support controllers, it should support the official ones, and actual buttons always make retro games better.
First, great game BUT we have one issue, for some reason after the first boss (risky's ship) the game crashes, so we essentially have an even shorter version of the demo.
Don't really know how to play like he instructions. We know how to use we controls just like where we're suppose to go in the game. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
