If you play the paid iPhone version on an iPad the settings button on top are hidden behind the clock and iPad status bars. You cannot change settings or go easily to the game stats.
The app is wonderfully done. Two little things we wish it had. First, an English translation for instructions. Second the spitz option for scoring. Overall we love the app, and the gameplay is great.
…is great and we also like the redesign. But the new iOS7 version has a tendency to crash, while the previous versions always ran very stable :/.
Gut gemachtes Skatspiel, dass sich ziemlich echt anfhlt. Die Stimmen der Dame(n) knnte etwas aufgepeppt werden. Vorhandene Regelvarianten sind super. Allerdings fnde ich es schn, wenn man mehr Regeln festlegen knnte, wie z.B. "3 Bock, 3 Ramsch". Beim drohenden Ramsch sollte man die Mglichkeit haben, alternativ Grand Hand zu spielen. Den Skat "schieben" wre auch noch eine wnschenswerte Variante beim Ramsch. Sind zwar nur inoffizielle, aber enorm spassbringende Regelerweiterungen. Netzwerk- bzw. Livespiel ber Internet (Gamecenter) wren der totale Hit.
This is a very good app. We like it a lot, however, we are somewhat confused about the rules. Furthermore, it is not possible to change to a contra at all times, but otherwise it is a lot of fun.
Als Jugendlicher und Student habe ich oft Skat gespielt. Doch jetzt lebe ich in den Staaten und hier gibt es nicht sehr viele Moeglichkeiten. Diese App ist ein hervorragender Ersatz.
Weit weg in der Ferne kann man damit sehr nette kleine spiele spielen.

Seit dem letzten Update ist es schneller geworden. Technisch war es schon immer sehr anspruchsvoll und ausgereift. Ich spiele es oft und gerne.
This game is fun hard to pick up at first but if it was also in English it would be better. But u can play revolution on it should make a update for it.

It's a fun game that we are just learning. We wish there was an option for English though.
We have played this game since its first PC release more than ten years ago. We think it is the best Skat game out there. The latest iPhone update brought big improvements to handling and speed. However, there are still the same flaws from ten years ago: when teaming against the player, your co-player sacrifices high-value cards unnecessarily. Also, the cards appear to be dealt in a certain pattern and not randomly.
The new version is a lot better. However, translating to other languages does not really work. We wish there was a setting to just keep the German words. Also, in the new version, if someone plays an open game, there is the sign of the game title right across the card, which obstructs the view. One more nit picky thing: in the review option it should be shown who held which cards. However, overall this is a tremendous card game app, one of the best values in the entire app store. Now we wish you could do the same for Doppelkopf.
We always wanted to learn Skat and just could not get it from various books. This app allows you to learn the basics and also try out various strategies by depleting the same hand. For example, we have become a much better player of Grand as we were able to try out a hand again.
Love this App and play it more than any other that we have.
This isnt a criticism of the app per se, but the developer makes separate versions for the iPad and iPhone, and charges full price for each. We think there should be the ability to buy one for full price, but both at some discount (rather than $12 for one version, $24 for both, or whatever it is, perhaps $15 for both its the same engine after all.) For that matter, a quantity discount for purchasing Skat and Doppelkopf, or perhaps all the developers games, would be welcomed.
We have been using this app for years. Initially, we were hopeful that bugs would be addressed in a timely fashion. But the apps developers seem to be indifferent to constructive criticism and certainly dont ever respond to contact requests. If you are considering a Skat app, we suggest you look elsewhere.

Hello, love the app! We have online+ and we are having trouble activating the 4 player mode.Any help would be great thanks.
Its a wonderful app, we enjoy it very much. Initially disappointed by the seeming lack of assistance mode that Lite has. You have to click the lightbulb in play and then click the small Show button to get the same options.
Only after we paid 8.99 did the app inform us that we should buy a different version optimized for ipad. Even though we searched for ipad only apps, the iphone version of this app was displayed for purchase, right on top. Not happy to be misled into buying the wrong version.
Ive wanted to learn Skat for a while, but not knowing anyone who played it, its tough for you and two friends to start from ground zero. This app helps you through the learning curve, lets you (optionally) play with all hands visible, and offers (optionally) advice. Its selectable for German or English and the English coverage is pretty good, with just a few of the advice items being German-only. Even that you can figure out pretty quickly. Skat is a bit complicated to learn, but this app helps you through it. Once you get better, it can play at a high level and offers a myriad of game and rules options. They really did a stellar job with this.

Well configured. Easy to navigate and the training courses are great. Wish our German was better to get a real grasp on the nuances. We live near Altenburg and still the German is tough. A great app.

Great app and very addictive once you have the rules figured out. We wish there was more English so we could use the strategy trainer and analysis. The existing minimal English needs some work too (e.g. "plenty points" sounds funny) Thanks.
Das Spielen macht viel Spa und die Spiele variieren. Die Computerspieler knnen Null Hand und Null Ouvert etc und es ist wunderbar zum ben. Man kann ein Spiel wiederholen, um zu sehen wie eine andere Strategie gelaufen wre.
Ich lerne Deutsch und mchte auch Skat lernen. Diese App ist wirklich hilfreich. Und die Mitspieler sind lustig. Mike in America.

Sehr unterhaltsam nur manchmal spiel der Computer mit einer anderen Logik.
The graphics and gameplay are well polished. The computer players beat us most the time, but we're not so experienced. Since the last upgrade, the ai sometimes pauses a bit before selecting a card.
Jetzt kann ich ins Bett spielen.

Lobend muss angemerkt werden, dass man sich mit dem neuen Update nun die Augen der Stiche anzeigen lassen kann aber das war es auch schon. Die Kommentare der Spieler bei der Abrechnung sind nun wieder verschwunden, sehr gut, doch nun geht "Kontra" vllig an einem vorbei. Das wre ja wohl eine Sprechblase wert? Die gabs vorher. Wenn ich mitten im Spiel pltzlich oben ganz winzig eingeblendet sehe, dass man mir "Kontra" angesagt hat, ist es schon zu spt. Oder man hat Glck und erkennt noch rechtzeitig, dass in dem kleinen Balken vor dem ersten Zug nicht mehr Kontra steht sondern pltzlich Re. Sorry Leute aber hier muss eine Sprechblase her oder Kontra anders deutlich gemacht werden. Weiterhin sind die Gegner lausig. Ich habe auf "sehr gutes Gedchtnis " eingestellt doch mein Partner schmeit regelmig eine 7 rein wenn der Stich offensichtlich an uns geht damit er am Schluss sein As und seine 10 an den Gegner verliert. So verlieren wir 90% aller Spiele vllig sinnlos auch noch Schneider! Komischerweise machen das aber beide Spieler nicht, wenn die gegen mich spielen. Dann wissen die pltzlich, dass man Punkte reinbuttern muss in jedem Zug um wenigstens die Multiplikatoren "schwarz" und "Schneider" auszuschlieen. Doch spiele ich mit einem der zwei da wird sich an As und 10 geklammert als wre es der erstgeborene Sohn. Farben, die der Gegner nicht hat, die muss man abwerfen wann immer man kann und nicht auf der Hand behalten um sie alle zu verlieren. Das nchste bel sind die Nullspiele. Mein Partner schert sich berhaupt nicht darum, dem anderen das Nullspiel zu vermiesen sondern der spielt selber Null und zwar gegen mich. Jede Karte ist falsch und immer darauf ausgerichtet das er selber keinen Stich bekommt sondern alle ich. Da mache ich mir mittlerweile einen Spa draus und spiele gegen meinen eigenen Partner damit der alle Stiche bekommt und ich keinen. Auch erkennt mein Partner nicht, dass ich keine Trmpfe mehr habe und haut Asse rein statt etwas niedriges. Selbst wenn ich bereits 1 oder 2 mal schon kein Trumpf mehr bedient habe und es somit klar sein msste, hallloooo ich nix Trumpf mehr!!!! Richtig bel sind vllig utopische Kontras. Wie kann man bei drei Trmpfen auf der Hand und auch sonst durchwachsenen Blatt Kontra sagen? Passiert leider regelmig. Richtig gehen einem erst die Augen auf, wie schlecht die beiden spielen, wenn man sich das Blatt anzeigen lsst. Der Hinweis, man mge doch Spielfehler per Email senden ist total sinnfrei. Erstens habe ich das schon mehrfach getan ohne jemals eine Reaktion darauf bekommen zu haben und zweitens spiele ich am Tag ca. 100 Spiele. Das wren 70 Emails. Gerade habe ich wieder ein Spiel Schneider verloren weil mein Partner mir seine 7 reinlegt obwohl der Stich an uns geht. Dafr habe ich keine Zeit! Fazit: Eine Verbesserung hat sich durch das neuste Update nicht eingestellt. Wrden echte Menschen so mit mir Skat spielen, wrde ich die sptestens nach dem 10. Spiel mit einem nassen Handtuch zum Ortsausgangsschild hinausprgeln.

Die Grafikoberflche wird nicht besser. Die Punkte werden zu kurz angezeigt, der skat nicht mehr. Ich spiele es gerne, doch die Klarheit der vorigen Version ist dahin.
We learned SKAT from our grandfather and his friends when we lived in Germany. We have missed the game as we have moved back to the US. This app is awesome. Sometimes our playing partner misses some obvious plays but that happens when you play with SKAT veterans as well. This is the only SKAT app we could find and we are glad someone put the work in to create it. Prost! MM.

We are a beginner, so our review may reflect that. We appreciate having an app that helps us learn this game. We know of no one locally that knows how to play. However, there are a few suggestions for you to consider. First, it would be nice if there was a way to forfeit a game rather than being forced to continue playing. Also, would like to be able to play with a human opponent, either using the same device, or via the Internet. Finally, since German is not our first language, we would appreciate knowing the translation of our opponents' comments. They might be put in the section which explains the way the app works.
We were a Schafkopf Spieler and learned Skat one evening on a trip to Taiwan. This app helped us learn more and is lots of fun. We like the different strategies from Schafkopf.
This app is the next best thing to be playing with your buddies.
We are clearly not a high powered player. But we have known and played the game for close to 70 years with friends and family. The newest iPhone/iPad version has finally got rid of those awful Micky mice. The level of play seems ok with us, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. Sometimes the computer opponents make really dumb plays. That could be deliberate, accidental, or simply odd programming. We can't tell either way.
