We had this game in 2013, and now it has been restored and completely unlocked by the game club. Thank you, but it seems that the fever of the game is a little big, and our mobile phone will get hot. We hope it can be further optimized. Thank you again for bringing such a wonderful game.

We find it extremely stupid that we have to pay to play multiplayer on this game whenever we used to play this game for free on the Xbox 360 back in the day it like every now is to earn a quick pay check like we loved this game as a kid but it stupid that we have to pay $5 a month just to play this game.

The game is good but you have to go on a subscription so you could just play multiplayer like why just why thats why PlayStation 4 in and playing on planes on PlayStation 4 and other devices is much better because you theres no subscription we need to sign up to .

Purchased this game many years ago and now they want a subscription to play the game. We understand that the game was brought back from the grave as there were many iOS versions that this game wasnt working for but to charge a subscription for it seems a bit greedy. Would have rather they release a newer, updated version that costs the same as the original price rather than a subscription.

This game used to be free. What happened?

If you choose we’ve already bought this game option there is a banner appearing. It asks if your internet connection active. And, surprise, there is no option to confirm it. Only Ill check option. So you have internet but you cant restore your purchase. Well done.

Bought the game a long time ago and couldnt restore the purchase.

Great game but we’ve never been a fan of membership especially on mobile where we dont play many games so we were wondering if this game is ever going to be released with a price so we can get the full game without paying for a membership and then losing the game once we stop paying.

We bought and enjoyed Skulls of the Shogun on our iphone 4 (which still runs) and was disappointed when the developer pulled it from the app store and we cant even download it from prior purchases. Now they bring it back and want us to pay for it again via a subscription. Not happy with this business practice.

Why should we have to pay for a subscription to play a mobile game. Let us buy the game like we did for android.

To not be able to play a game we purchased and paid money for. Im not signing in to anything. You have literally made it so we will never purchase a game you even look at. This is such garbage.

What happened? The game was originally able to be purchased forever, now you need to subscribe to some service to actually play. Total waste of time, we would absolutely be willing to just BUY the game normally. We dont care about playing your other games from said service, we just want to play this one only. Edit: we’ve scrolled through the other negative comments, and we are seriously unimpressed. Instead of responding to them, whoever owns the game now just sends an automatic response pleading you to join their service. Overall, extremely shady business that will not have our money, and they shouldnt have yours either. Doing business with people who value their customers so little is a liability.

Downloaded the game, opened it up, and was greeted with a subscription service. Just let us pay once and enjoy the game, Im not interested in a hand picked library of phone games at $5 a month. What we are interested in however, is playing this singular game for a one time price. Its a shame considering how fun the game is.

Don’t get until they update. But that’s not likely considering they haven’t updated since 2013 Edit update since 2013: Game has been updated and purchase has been restored. Pretty fun.

We had previously paid for this game years back for around $5 (4.99, we think) and now its asking we pay for a subscription for the features again? We had thoroughly enjoyed this game back then and we refuse to pay more for it. Update: Got our premium back and ads removed. Service was quick and effective. So very pleased!

New owners honored previous purchase! Excellent game. Highly recommend.

We have no idea if the suckers paying $5/month to play forgotten games are also seeing ads, but somehow we doubt it. Just received a response from the developer who claims that this is not working as intended, and if we contact them, they will disable the ad stream. Now, Im no programmer, but Im pretty sure you cant accidentally code an advertising window into a game.

Edit: wow! Skulls of the Shogun has risen from the ashes! Our old review is below, but the developers came through! Way to go! Awesome game, great gameplay, good replay, or at least it was when it actually worked. Skulls has been broken since iOS 9. The devs said they are working on a patch, but it’s been months. It’s been so long that iOS 9 has been patched twice before they got a fix out. 17bit’s tech support forums are a wasteland of unanswered pleads for help to fix the title since iOS 9, and their Twitter has one vague post about a fix being in the works someday… Really sad way for a great game to go.

UPDATE: Yaaaaaaaaaassssss queen!!!! Finally got an update. Great game. This is a great game that we’ve loved for some time. But…. It crashes on iOS 9 on both our iPhone and iPad Air. After deleting it and redownloading the game multiple times it has continued to crash. It was a waste of $5. Updates needed.

Update: Gameclub did restore our purchase. Im still taking one star off, because we still have to see adds in a once great premium game that we purchased. However, we are grateful this game has been resurrected on the App Store after all these years. Original: we received a developer response to a previous 1 star review after the game disappeared from the App Store years ago saying the game was added to Gameclub and back on the App Store. We were excited to finally get to play again and finish. Downloaded, tried to restore purchase, Gameclub clubbed us over the head with a denial saying our account had not purchased. Sooooo… We went to purchase history and found our receipt from 2015, resent it to our email, screenshot and sent to developer. Will change review if purchase restored.

Update we received a developer response after all these years and they said the game was now available on Game Club. Game Club costs $4.99 a month, but theyre providing a free month. We tried to find the game and when we finally did it wont load and says theres no content. But we also will not be paying 4.99 a month to play a game we already paid for years ago. If youre looking for a similar game just get Badland Brawl or Skullgirls. Theyre free and they arent the exact same, but theyre close enough. So thank you to the developers that spent a lot of time and hard work on making such a great game initially. You guys are awesome for that, but its had its run with this fan. Good luck with everything else youre probably working on now. :) Original Review we absolutely adored this game when it worked but with IOS 9 it does not. We hope they fix this soon and we will gladly change this to a five star rating.

THIS GAME IS PERFECT SUPER GOOD AND AWSOME GRAPHICS AWSOME.

Excellent all around. So much fun.

Addicting game with easy controls! Worth getting if your looking for any top quality turn based game.

We picked this up during a freebie weekend and it sat on our iPad for a month unplayed. Last week we got an iPhone 5s and installed this game to give it a whirl. It rocks. We love eating them skulls. Great AI too.

We seriously cannot praise this game enough. It was one of our favorite games of 2013 so much so that, even though we’ve already played it to completion on Steam, we had to buy it again for iOS just to show our support. Plus it’s probably the best strategy RPG on the App Store. Who wouldn’t want it on the go? The game runs flawlessly on our iPad Air, and our iPhone 5S. Do yourselves a favor and pick this game up. Our only real complaint is we wish it had cloud saves so we could transfer our saves across iOS devices. It’s such a minor complaint though that we can’t dock them for it.

We’ve been looking for a really fun game for our ipad. If you’re not a gamer, give this one a couple hours to get the hang. Really a lot of fun. Don’t understand the multi player tho.

Basically perfect RTS. Art direction is terrific, dialed-down gameplay; UI is a bit busy but that’s pardonable. Congrats to the developers!

We can’t stop playing this game; it’s totally addictive.

One of the best games ever! Waiting for two!

Great music, gameplay graphics – just great!

Fun, easy to play, challenging and funny. Best of the best!

We love the style, the strategy, and the story of this game. No IAPs make this game a great investment of your time and attention. If you like strategy games, this is definitely an insta-download.

Smooth and fun introduction of new mechanics throughout the game and very polished game design. This game is very enjoyable!

Love the game. Would pay for more levels or next game.

We have updated our iPad recently and now the game we have loved has stopped working please fix it.

We have never experience a strategy game like this but we love every thing about it the art work, the samurai theme, the strategy. We beat the whole story mode and we we’re unbeatable in online matches we love strategy, and we’re great at it. But there are two things wrong the achievements don’t work and on iPod it lags a lot but on iPad it works fine. Fine General Afrokitsune if u want a real challenge.

A fun game to play but a little too repetitive and tedious at times. Great story and unique art work.

This game pretty darn great, it’s fun and comical, we recommend it.

Great game now that it’s not crashing anymore.

This game is great for casual and hardcore gamers. The story is amazing and the gameplay is really fun. The short cutscenes are funny too. Get this game!!!!!!!!!!!!

This update has jump out (crash)the game when start the game. Iphone 6plus last version ios 9.

Excellent game! Thank you 17-bit for the holiday surprise! Cannot recommend this game enough!

It’s like Pokemon, if Pokemon were for the manliest of men! If you don’t enjoy this game you must suffer from low-T or like dudes or something! Ef yeah!

We really enjoy this turn based strategy game. High replay value to try to get all the skulls. Definitely satisfied with this purchase.

Our fav one on iPad so far. This game really killed it to be one of best strategy games available currently on the App Store. Once pick up we feel like never gonna put It down until we beat it up. Truly a good game! Thanks developers!

Played all the way through a number of times. Well balanced, beautiful, excellent and original style and score, well designed levels and units, hilarious, deep and smart gameplay, challenging and a blast to play. Bravo.
