Community Insight:

Ive had this game for years now. Ignore the people complaining about lack of instructions. Too many games hold your hand. This game would have sucked if they went the route of having hours of tutorial. We are glad they let us figure it out. We just wish we had more. 41 levels didnt feel like enough.

This game gets tough fast. We love it.

Ill just say this right now. This game is not for everyone. The graphics may fool you into thinking its a simple easy puzzle game, but it is anything but. This is a hardcore puzzler up there with the witness and stephens sausage roll. It is brutally hard to figure out just how you are supposed to do what you need to do, and it is glorious to finally figure out the solution. We still havent beaten the game. We havent even really made it three quarters through the game. That said, if these first 20-30 levels are anything to go by, then these guys are experts in puzzle design. TLDR: if you want to figure out conundrums that are hard and often seem outright impossible at first, then this is the game for you. If you want a more laid-back experience that isnt quite as difficult (nothing wrong with that), then this is NOT the game for you.

Yes, Im one of the ones who got this on version 1 and played the whole game for free due to the glitch. But we have since purchased it guys, and thanks for a superb game! Very simple gameplay and the puzzles are quite hard! Some take only a few minutes but there were some that had us going back over and over trying to figure out how in the HECK do we get the birds to that finish spot??! All in all super enjoyable, great graphics, and Ive kept our eye out for a Snakebird 2. We would pay right off the bat for that one.

The puzzles are very thoughtful and intelligent, often with numerous catches and interesting ideas per level. The art style is adorable and the amount of detail present is quite impressive. Overall we would say this is one our favorite puzzle games. Keep up the good work, and please make another Snakebird game because we will eat it up :).

Great game. But if a 4 year old can excel at this game Id be impressed.

We saw this game on some puzzle YouTube video and immediately knew we wanted to play it. Some of the reviews say its too hard, but we think its just hard enough there are sometimes where you think youre stuck but then, when you figure out the solution its so worth it. The screen size does need to be updated though.

1 minute per level and you can finish inside an hour. Would be nice if it saved replays or kept some kind of stats.

So this game is super fun but SO HARRRRRRRD mom wont help us cuz it too hard Id like it to b easier pls cuz it waaaaaay too hard.

We just got this and we love it. But it wont let us download the full game. We need more levels.

Some levels are rock hard and we love it! Only wish we have is for iCloud saving so we can switch devices without losing progress, other than that one of the best puzzle games around.

It's hard. It's supposed to be hard. It's great. Get gud.

Great game, we dont have much time but we do have a glitch for you guys. If you are on a level with 2 snake birds (maybe more we dont have the full game) then u can glitch one guy to never to respawn by killing him and moving the other snake before the first repawns and then u can complete the level even though the first guy is not there anymore. We hope you guys read this! Oh yea, there is probably more people who report this glitch and we didnt copy them if they did. We just found it out our self. Bye.

This was the best $4 Ive ever spent, Ill take it to our grave that this is by far the best game on the App Store. The concept is simple enough, but the levels are challenging. Theres a different trick to each level, its not like other games where the more you play the easier it gets. The graphics are beautiful; its very cute, cartoonish, and colorful without being obnoxious. Ive beaten the game twice now but we might have to go for round 3 since the coronavirus has given us all this time.

Was a lot of fun and a great challenge, but when are you going to release a new one? (And not an easier one like primer) the game is fun and cute but makes us think hard and has our brain hurting until we wake up at 2am and think we know how to beat it. Please make more.

Some reviews mention a lack of communication of the concepts of the game, but that couldnt be farther from the truth. The game lays down a set of fundamental rules, and through all 50 levels it never strays from those rules. There arent any tricks or gotcha puzzles, its all about logically deducing the correct path to approach. The game is very forgiving and lets you take your time to solve it. We love this game because we always knew that we could solve the puzzles, we just had to think about it long enough. That said, this is one of the hardest puzzle games Ive ever played. The later levels took us days of understanding the layouts to figure it out. But once you do get it, it feels amazing. There are no puzzles where you stumble across the solution, you have to know exactly what you need to do. Because of this, we fully understand why some people might not like it because of how challenging it gets. If youre looking for a more casual puzzle game where you can go through levels quickly, this game might not be for you. (Especially for younger players) But if you want something that is challenging, yet perfectly fair, a games with puzzles that need to be solved, not found, then we cant recommend this game enough. In our opinion its one of the most well-made puzzles games of all time, but its not for everybody. Try out the free version and see if you like it. If you do, then youll love the full version.

Im hooked by the challenge, the cute graphics and the great soundtrack. Love a puzzle and a game that isnt about speed or killing people. Im keeping our brain active with this one.

Beautiful graphics, and difficult puzzles. We honestly dont think many puzzle games get close to this level of greatness. Its a bit too difficult in our opinion though, but thats not too bad of a thing.

We loved it. Finished 100% and feel very accomplished. The puzzles had a great difficulty and were super enjoyable. Kudos to the developer.

Fantastic game for people who like Cosmic Express, The Sequence or Perfect Paths.

Im truly in awe of how fun and satisfying this game is. This is art. The love the creators put into this game is so obvious. Even the soundtrack is perfect, we actually enjoy taking our phone off silent to play this game, thats really difficult to accomplish. Seriously its amazing, we wish we could meet the creators to thank them.

Wow! This is a fantastic game and we're really surprised the first 10 levels are free. Because of their difficulty, it'll still take a little bit to go through them. We're hesitant to spend any money on this game though because it's not optimized for newer phones, and we don't want to waste money on something that will never receive updates. Will there be a new version of snakebird in the future that's harder than primer.

The game is great. We dont understand the negative reviews. Theres no tutorial to speak of but like most puzzle games, you figure out as you go along. It is a very challenging game, and dare we say its not a relaxing game. Its not something to pull up on your ten minute bus ride. You have to really sit and think about a lot of these puzzles, possibly trying and then giving yourself a break for a bit to mull it over. This being the case, we think it will be a long time before Im finished with Snakebird. Its definitely a well made, challenging game.

Snakebird is probably the most difficult puzzle game Ive ever completed 100% to the end without any hints. It is consistently challenging; youll get stuck on each puzzle, but for about the same amount of time on each. Definitely be aware of what youre getting yourself into here, but its fun if you like tough puzzles.

The hallmark of a great puzzle game… At first it seems impossible and most of the puzzles seem insurmountable, but over time as your try, and learn, the puzzles become more tangible and you can slowly work your way through them. We cant recommend this game enough. After trying it for a bit, we downloaded their primer app that has easier puzzles and worked through that. When we came back, we eventually solved all the puzzles. Some are very hard.

This is a really good puzzle game.

Just started but its an interesting and different sort of puzzle. Yes there are limited free levels but you can buy the full version and get more levels . Later Ill report whether we still feel the same way.

Some of these reviews are really misleading. The puzzles in this game are designed very well, but they can be quite hard. People saying theyre impossible dont know how to think outside the box. Well worth the $4 IAP to get the full game. Im almost done and Ive enjoyed every level.

We downloaded this game yesterday, not thinking much about it, we read some reviews and realized that everyone was complaining because the game doesnt provide a lot of clues… Its a STRATEGY/PUZZLE game! Its not supposed to give you the answers or hints on how to pass a level! The point of this game is to CHALLENGE you brain and see if you are able to figure out how to pass to the next level and we ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! We stayed stuck on level… Ahem… 7 for two days hahaha we just barely passed it right now. If you want a game that will be EASY and WONT even CHALLENGE YOU to think outside the box then THIS GAME ISNT FOR YOU… We give props to the creators of the game and the masterminds behind it as well. We know have a game WORTHY of KEEPING and we just got paid today so Im looking forward for those 45 LEVELS.

No ads, all levels present, awesome preview and worth the money. Ive never seen such a clearly 5 star game with such a low average rating. Ignore the low ratings. Ill explain. Firstthere are no ads, even if you dont pay money for in app purchases. That right there puts this puzzle game in a super minority. For free, you get a nice preview of the game with no ads and about ten levels. We say about because we bought it before playing all available free levels, since we were so impressed with the quality and difficulty of the puzzles. Yes, the tutorial is somewhat lacking. But it doesnt matter the tiniest bit. For one, this is not a timed game, and for two, ALL levels, even in the free version, have UNLIMITED undo. Even when you die by hitting the spikes, the level does not resetit just resets to the position immediately before you hit the spikes. This puts the focus where it should be, on solving the puzzles, not on trying to avoid making dumb mistakes. Mistakes dont matter because it is so easy to back up. This game mechanic (unlimited undo and no forced resets) is extremely rare because most games would be trivial if they had it. Not this one. The puzzles are TRICKY and gameplay is top notch. As for levels being missingno, theyre not. The thing is that each time you solve a level, a few other levels unlock, not just the next levels numerically. Beat level 12 and levels 20, 41 and 22 show upyou get the idea. The level selector is a cute animated map of an island, and the sequence of levels meanders around the island. We would suggest to the developers that they change the unlock order for the free levels since some people get confused and think some levels are missing, but since the levels are in fact all there we dont really care. The full version was $3.99, which is a bit more than we usually like to pay for a puzzle, but still worth it. It showed us the price before we paid, but that might be because we have our App Store account set to always require password for purchases. The only comparable games in terms of respect for the user, puzzle trickiness, and delightfulness of UI, are Go To Gold and Go To Gold 2. Well, actually Hook, Transmission, and also every puzzle from Pyrosphere, are all FREE and ad-free delightful minimalist puzzles with beautiful UIs. Youre welcome. :).

This is a great game but we are using an IPhone X and this does not fill the screen if this did it would make the gameplay truly immersive.

As other reviews have said, Snakebird combines adorable design with rigorous puzzle playthrough. Learn by doing, and do methodically, and you can figure any level out. For texasbuckeye, who thought the intro packet didn't give levels 8 and 9–it absolutely does, if you solve level 7. The levels unlock by geographic proximity on the map, not in numerical order. (we were stuck on 7 for a long time ourselves.) This expanding unlocking means you always have a choice of several unlocked puzzles to work on instead of being stuck on a single blocker.

Devilishly hard, but levels are solvable by using some logic and deduction, and dont require endless random trial and error like some challenging puzzlers. The low ratings are doubtless due to the difficulty of the puzzles, rather than some knock on the quality of the app, which is overall excellent. We dont understand the complaints about not knowing the price for the full game. Its listed under the IAP info and also prior to confirming purchase. Our only complaint is that our progress isnt synced across devices so Im effectively limited to playing on only one device.

We're glad we read tomahawk2012's review instead of just going by the average rating, as typically we wouldn't give a 3.6 rated game much of a look. But after completing the first few free levels, we were hooked and gladly paid (less than the price of a fast food lunch) to get the full game. Warning: You do have to be a bit of a masochist for this one, as some of the levels are brutally difficult – it took us several nights of trying before we were finally able to solve level 17, and we're sure that many we have left to solve are even more difficult. If you enjoy really difficult puzzle games, don't hesitate to get this one.

Snakebird is easy to figure out the mechanics instructions are visual. Some levels can be very difficult but the game allows you to progress in chunks so you can bypass the more difficult ones if needed. The chunk progression, however, is the reason that only seven of the first 10 levels are playable. While Im surprised the developers didnt fix this, the game is well worth purchasing.

We were playing and had a lot of fun. Never bought the full version, just replayed the demo levels. This morning we opened it up and we noticed we had the full version. Nothing was charged to our account. We love the game, but it makes us feel bad because we were given the full version for free.

The level design in this game is subtly brilliant, with devilishly difficult solutions to simple-looking problems. Probably half of the levels had us thinking they were impossible, which set our up for utter elation at ultimately finding the solution. The cute graphics do this game a disservice. We downloaded it for our five-year-old, and only on him asking us for help did we get drawn in and realize it was the perfect game for us. Kudos to the developers of this game, particularly the level designers. We haven't seen puzzles this good since Portal.

Its hard, and its hard even from level 2. But its not tedious. Almost every level has a smart but unrepeated solution. Youll experience the Aha moment in every single level! For those who seek challenges, strongly recommended.

This game is really cute and its also really challenging at some times but we still approve! Wonder why people dont like it though. :.

And by that, we mean this game is punishingly difficult, but it's designed so well that it's not frustrating. A great mind-challenging puzzle game overall.

Please add a level creator/designer!! Ok, with that added this would be PERFECT! Seriously, we can't think of another game that has impressed us so much. We haven't played the game in over two years but we're here because we were just on the app store wondering if there's any good puzzle games and we're humming the music to this game. Basically, the whole esthetic of this game is off the charts. The music is ridiculously catchy and sets the perfect mood, the simplistic looks are gorgeous without being overwhelming, making the game play much more enjoyable. This is the gold standard and we hope to see more from these developers. They designed an almost perfect game.. We say almost cause it needs a level designer mode. Btw besides for the 'cloud levels' and final level, the game isn't overly difficult. The challenge is almost always the perfect amount, in fact this game was recently featured in a YouTube video by Mark Brown about what makes a good puzzle. Just look for the video with the snakebird thumbnail. Btw that video also uses the iconic music from snakebird. No wonder we're still humming it in our head.

Amazing, well polished game. The birds have a ton of character and its amusing even when you fail (which youll be doing a lot). The puzzles are challenging but rewarding when you figure them out.

Great game, great levels. We love how you figure the controls and mechanics out on your own. We wish there was a level editor though.

When we initially saw the 3.5 average rating for the app we initially thought of the average being so low because of the game being bad, not difficult. To be fair we never really realized what we were getting ourselves into initially until we downloaded this and started the second level after the tutorial level. And then we realized this is not a normal puzzle game, this is way harder than any other Ive tried before. We can eventually figure it out but it so time consuming, but still fun.

This game is a real brain-scratcher, but the charming graphics and great puzzles really are impressive! And this is the PERFECT game to pass the time in a great way.

This game is unbelievable. It's hard to find a truly challenging puzzle game, and this one is by far the most enjoyable and unique one out there. Anybody who says "there should've been more explanation" or "a better tutorial" obviously only cares about how fast they can beat the game, and aren't patient enough to take the time to enjoy figuring out the complex physics and strategy of the game. Figuring out how it all works and learning new strategies is where most of the fun lies within this game. There are PLENTY of levels in this game, because many of them take hours to figure out. The level of intelligence these guys must've had to create them is amazing. After we downloaded the game, it took us close to three months to finish the game; granted, we didn't play all day every day, but we probably clocked in about 2 hours a day. More than half of them were challenging enough that we "stumbled" upon the solution, which means we can go back and replay all of them without remembering exactly how to do it. The impossible difficulty is what makes this game so fun, and so rewarding when finally beating a level that's taken you so long. We only hope there's another one released, which we would gladly pay $10 for. Incredible game, thank you so much.

(The bad reviews are likely from people who didn't pay for the game) Snakebird is an innovative and incredibly challenging puzzle game. You will get stuck and you will get frustrated, but the puzzles you can't beat will be on your mind. That's the sign of a great puzzle game, which Snakebird is. At least 10 hours of gameplay here. Outstanding.

Well we think this game will be a 5rating so yah good day.

Great puzzle game but how much is the full version. We want to buy it but we're not going to pay a mystery price… .99, 2.99, 4.99 how much?! We like the game but we wouldn't pay $20 for it. So stop teasing us and tell us how much.

IAP is always displayed on the store page, and everyone should read this before downloading so you can tell if you have to compromise gameplay to buy gems or if it's a game for a few measly bucks on your multi-hundred dollar machine. The game is charming and we were easily able to figure out what to do. There are only 8 levels that we could find (hidden levels?) in the trial but its a great little play for nothing and we're considering the full version.
