Solitairica Reviews

Once again, back to restore purchases. And to make matters worse, gems reset to ZERO!!!!

Cute game. Just started getting into it a few days ago and update erased all progress and sent us back to tutorial phase. Wouldn’t mind so much if it were a free app. Probably won’t bother keeping.

Just did the update and lost almost 3000 wild stone! So Sad!

All class unlocks, gems, regular and epic completions wiped. (grumbles) You have to start to wonder if these releases are even tested before they’re put out.

We were on the second to last battle on epic and the update completely reset the game. We love this game but that is terrible admin!

We really enjoy this game. It requires strategy and forethought both in the battles and in deciding what spells or items to purchase, and what combination of these works best for a given enemy. The description of enemy "powers" is somewhat vague and there are times when a battle is impossible to win, so you have to plan ahead and try to predict what specifically works best in that situation. Even still, there are moments when you’ll just lose because you never had a chance to buy the specific spell that would be necessary–hope you bought an hourglass! The different classes are far from balanced but there’s enough variety in gameplay and difficulty to make each one feel unique, although in the end all of them end up balancing converting energies into one another to use their class abilities or massive spells. Nevertheless the way you go about this is different for each class and requires a different sort of approach/item and spell combination. We hesitate to call this a true rogue-like because it lacks the depth and replayability that make roguelikes unique. You can earn enough credits with one of the easier classes (read: monk) to unlock and upgrade all the other classes rather easily, and once you get the hang of each one it doesn’t become very rewarding or difficult to beat the game. Moreover the difficulty feels at times like sheer luck rather than something that could, if you’d played better, overcome. For most of the game it feels like you either win handily or never had a chance, with a few exceptions of intense close-calls. Times like these are when the game shines, but unfortunately those moments are also few and far between. Fortunately the developers released an updated new game+ sort of game mode, which makes the game harder and longer once you’ve beaten it normally with a given class. This was a great (and free) addition to the game and it adds a new challenge that doesn’t feel as dependent on luck. Enemies have harder combinations of skills and you’re forced to mix up your spells and items for each fight rather than simply finding the perfect combination and stomping everyone. Nevertheless the same problem persists–having just beat the harder difficulty, we finished with nearly 300 gems, which means our next game we can buy a whole lot of hourglasses, assuming I’d even need more than one or two. Having such an easy resource of second chances, especially once you’ve unlocked everything and have no need for gems, kinda takes the permadeath element out of the equation, making the game less exciting overall. An endless mode that doesn’t reward gems might be a good option, or a more difficult mode that limits you to fewer spells/items. We have confidence that the developers will continue to improve on this, given that they’ve already released one such update. The biggest issues are the cloud sync not working across devices (which apparently causes several people to lose all progress) and, in our case, an inability to purchase the IAP decks. After two (or more?) updates the problem persists. Hopefully they fix this and hopefully they continue to add more classes/updates. Overall it’s a great game, perhaps too easy at times or too reliant on RNG (though not as much as other card games that won’t be mentioned…). The technical issues are pretty extreme for those who lost their progress and the issues with IAP are rather frustrating for those of us who want new challenges. This latter point only speaks to the success of the game overall, which even if lacking in replayability nevertheless offers rewarding challenges in the initial playthroughs.

The game is great but the load times are atrocious, please work to reduce them.

Love the game it is very challenging and also very fun. The game is a rogue like solitaire game for all potential customers Suggestions to developers: 1. Make the loading animation / time shorter 2. Make all animations and dialogs skipable such as cards being dealt on the map and broken heart at game over. 3. Make the text for what the enemy does more prominent it is a little small. Thanks for the updates and good luck.

Solitairica is an incredibly addicting Roguelike RPG solitaire game. There is a lot of opportunity for this game to be much, much better though. The top three things we would suggest is 1, addressing how annoyingly luck-based the game is. We know this is an aspect of solitaire but it could easily be addressed through the already existing class abilities, maybe by making single damage or field-shuffling spells less expensive. 2, the classes, items, and spells are fairly imbalanced and could use tuning. The Paladin is way too strong due to armor, healing, and damage all synergizing with each other, giving the class the longevity needed to survive bad luck streaks. We know this is an opinion, but the Wizard and Bard are straight-up not fun due to how much luck is involved with being successful. The Acrobat is a great concept for a class but can sometimes lose on the very first enemy due to bad luck and the class’s high resource costs. With the items and spells, there is clearly a "best" solution (2, 4, and 6 card heals combined with energy-on-taking-damage items, and anti-corruption/defense/heal spells) and if you don’t go for it your chances of winning are incredibly low. And 3, lack of game modes and replay ability. The game has a great foundation for gameplay but doesn’t fully utilize it’s potential by only having one functioning game mode. It could easily include several other gameplay modes like a "play until you lose" Survival type mode, or a game mode where you build your kit (items/spells) beforehand using a set amount of gold and then playing through the campaign without a shop in between rounds. PvP would also be possible using this last game mode, though PvP would likely require much more than just utilizing the current game functionality. All in all, the game is really addicting and we got out way more than we paid for it. We’re really looking forward to new functionality.

Great game! Lost many hours in this one. Absolutely worth a shot.

When we first played this game, we loved it, but it hasn’t changed much since then. This is both good and bad. The new Primal decks are just more of the same ‘thing’ that makes this game what it is. They are also VERY hard to play. Normally we can at least get halfway to the final enemy, but but with the primal decks, we barely make it to the fourth enemy. We know this DLC is only $.99, but I’d like to see a new set of monsters or levels. Still, we find the game enjoyable, despite its unbalanced decks.

We originally loved the game. However, since purchasing their latest upgrade, we can’t update and play the game.

All the bugs we’ve experience have been fixed and the game is running super smoothly now. Cloud saves work and we’re not experiencing the combat crashes any longer. If you were waiting for those to get fixed feel free to jump back in again!

The devs finally came through and fixed all the crashing that was going on and we can finally once again call this game one of our favorites on the app store. Thanks devs. Keep it up.

We love this game but have to restore purchases after each run through. Frustrating and also makes playing DLC content offline impossible.

Love the game and like the new update which they’ve worked most of the bugs out of now. (Though it’s pretty lousy to be given several versions that don’t seem to have been they QA/UAT at all.) Would give it 5 stars except we have to keep logging in to the store every time we play. Real annoying.

We tried to purchase Primal Champions, but we got an error – Sorry, puchase failed. Also, the developer has NO contact info on their webpage. Boo! Other than that, we LOVE the game.

Awesome game. Get it. Like now. There’s so much awesome content, and there’s so much more great stuff after the update. One small problem: we can’t buy the expansion. It auto-fails after it restores our purchases (?) (IPhone 5 on most recent iOS)

We truly love this game. We have had it for almost a month now and am still struggling beating the first boss. Our only gripes are even though in settings we have opted for no animations we still have to wait for all kinds of them. We just want to play the game… We don’t want to be bothered with all that. Ask the loading screens have been increasingly longer and longer since 2 up dates ago. Awesome game just needs some tweaking and more options in settings so users can customize their experience.

Will not let us purchase new decks. No matter what we try it always says "sorry, purchase failed"

Four stars for a neat concept, maybe even five. But the game was over way to fast with almost no replayability. They tried to fix it by adding epic mode which while a good effort made the game impossible to win. We beat the game with every deck before but now we can’t even get past the second enemy. Tweaked way too far in the other direction.

We’re not happy at all about having to log into our iTunes account every single time we want to play the game, because it doesn’t recognize us as a player. Also, it continues to bump us out of the current game and make us start all the way at the beginning.

This version won’t let us play the game unless we’re connected to the Internet and buy a pack of cards? We don’t know what they did. We guess we have to put the old version back while loosing our scores. Not cool. We never have any problems with this game on Steam. We wasn’t having any problems before this version. 1 star for this version. If we can’t play it then there is no worth in it.

We get an error about not having a unique ID and it errors out before letting us buy the expansion. We deleted and reinstalled and lost all of our progress!!

We really love the game but why do we have to b Connected to internet to play a game we bought ??? Secundo, it is impossible to buy the card pack… And each time we launch the game for a new party, the game try to restore purchases we didn’t even buy. By trying to restore, the game try to Connect to Game Center one more time and if the connection is not stable, we can’t play… Very frustrating !

We like game , but to difficult to challenge this game.

We loved this game but when the last patch came out it completely crashed. We had to uninstall. Now we lost all progress and it won’t even restore the primal decks we bought. This was a great game we’re sorry to say we will probably never play again now.

We love love love this game, but the latest update is a total and utter crash fest. Cannot load cloud saves and restore not working for the new decks after purchase. Looking forward to when this is fixed so we can start on some epic journeys! Update: July 3rd update still has cloud sync and restore purchase problems.

For some reason we need to re-enter our password every time we leave the app. It resets any game in progress and therefore ruins the app. Was excited about the new decks but now we may actually delete this.

This game is awesome! Even when there’s a problem they fixed it right away!!

Love this game, never had any issues in the past. However, we’re now stuck on level 7 of an Epic run because the app keeps crashing while loading the battle. Playing on an iPhone 7, Monk deck, enemy is a Yomad Caveman. Hope to see a fix soon!

Love this game, but after the last two updates we can only make it handful of battles before it crashes every time trying to load the next enemy. Very frustrating, please fix!

After upgrade we get a "can’t access cloud sync" message and lost the upgrade which we had to restore. Love this game and we were very excited for the expansion. Please release a bug fix asap.

Getting the common failed to sync with iCloud error. And our purchase must be restored every start up.

We love this game but in the new epic download we can only get to level 8 before we are kicked out of the app and can’t go any further.

Same issues as everyone else. Please solve soon!

Crashes like crazy on epic… Needs some patch work.

The game art somehow looked a lot worse since the update on the iPad. Looks like someone went through photoshop and used sharpening filters from low quality art assets.

Every time we start the app on any device we get "Cloud sync failed".

We are enjoying this game very much. Thanks, devs!

Its a really fun game and this is from somebody who didnt know how to play solitaire. Its basically one of the best Roguelite games on the market and we feel ashamed for sleeping on it until its recent price cut. Our only gripe is that when we spent the 99cents to unlock the dlc characters we have to grind out 40 gems per character just to play each of the 4 classes we paid for. Other than that this is a fantastic title that anyone who enjoys these types of games must try.

Super fun despite being an older game. Gives us a Cards of Terra vibe. Great design and atmosphere.

We have been playing this game for a few years and a love it. Succeeding at this game requires a good combination of luck and skill, which makes it addictive. We wish they would continue to upgrade it. Im not sure a full on Solitairica 2 is required. Id love to see: 1) More levels 2) New/Different monsters 3) The ability to turn off or greatly shorten the intra-animations (so annoying to have to sit through and continually click click to get through them) 4) more slots for tools 5) the ability to keep buying hourglasses as long as you have the money or the wild stones. 6) some sort in info that explains exactly how the rewards work. We cant figure out how much you get for a run that is X long vs Y long; is it cumulative? Aka the more runs you have, the more valuable they become? Anyway, they could keep this game going, if they kept adding levels and making enhancements.

When we listen to a podcast we feel restless if Im not doing anything else. Solitairica has been wonderfully soothing, and we have played away many delightful evenings to the background of dramatic actual plays and comedic good good people. The developer reached out to us the same day we sent him a picturing showing our 100% completion, even asked us about what we wanted to see in the second game. If youre considering buying and youre looking at reviews to get an idea, know that we’ve gotten our moneys worth and more.

First of all, to all of those who think this app is a scam that makes you pay four dollars to only make you pay more, simply swipe left. The deck purchasing is the first screen, yes, but you do not only get the tutorial. The four extra decks are an add-on. If you do not have the mental capacity to swipe left, this game is may for you. Anyway, great game. Please add more decks and perhaps extend the story mode past defeating Stuck. Edit: Wow, people think the game is too luck based, and/or requires too much skill. Let us think, what game does that sound like. Oh, how about solitaire? If you dont like luck-based games, this isnt for you. If you do though, have fun!

Very interesting and cool rougelike. A lot of lesser star reviews are from people who dont know what that means. This game has some interesting mechanics that keep it from being heavily RNG-based like solitaire can be. The strategy lies in knowing which cards to destroy and which spells to buy and use (or combo). For $2, we highly recommend it. We would have paid up to $10 for this game. Its very polished, beautiful, and extremely fun and challenging.
