Most of our free time is on our this Spades app.!! We keep telling myself Ill quit after this game yet we get sucked into another. A total time waster, but the most fun!

We play this game so much, we find myself running the battery down on our phone. Our one complaint is what our partner does when the opposition tries a nil bet (attempting to not catch any tricks). Instead of concentrating on making the bet, the partner tries to bust the nil bettor, throwing away aces an lb kings and trumping your high cards.
Let us preface this by saying we are by no means the best spades player out there, but we do have an issue with how the game plays. Our issue is with our computer partner, who at times, makes what we would call bonehead moves. For example, sometimes when we play a clear winner (i.e. An ace card), our partner sometimes cut us, for no apparent reason. Our only recommendation for improvement for this game would be to improve the artificial intelligence for the computer partner, to play smarter.
Whoever wrote the logic for how Megan, your only option for a partner, plays needs to address some things. The AIs throw spades at obviously wrong times, typically after the player preceding them lays a spade. Also, when the opposing team has a nil bid, the logic is buggy enough that Megan tanks the round because she throws too high, over-prioritizing throwing too high in an attempt to make the nil-bidder take a book, even when it becomes factually impossible to do so because of the cards that have already been played. When this happens, she will beat or even high-spade you while you are winning the book and she is the last to lay. Even if she cant beat you, she will throw high instead of low, which can be a good strategy but only in the right situations. They just didnt seem to take these situations into consideration though. Theres also an issue where both you and the other team have made their own bids and she actively tries to win the books and seems to try take the bags instead of trying to push them to the other team. Yet another issue is that when you are close to 500, with due credit of the strategist who coded this, the opponents will typically bid low in an effort to set you so they can catch up. But the problem is that much of the time, during the round they seem to forget what they are doing and then take the bags themselves. They also always try to strategically avoid throwing a king before the ace is thrown, which opens up an odd situation where even if the other team is winning and the player to throw last could and should safely win it with the king, it wont throw it, which leads to them frequently giving books away, sometimes at the cost of getting set. This effectively makes having the queen (when you have ace and the queen combo) more powerful than the king of the same suit. Exploited another way, it can give you an advantage with the king if you throw last because the AI, itself wouldnt do that. Yet another issue seems to be that on the first round of a nil-bid, she wont protect you even when she can. So, she will let you win the round and lose the nil-bid, then the following round pay a card that would have protected it. These are off the top of our head. Im sure if we were to play it again, Id notice other exploits that were obviously the result of poor strategy, poorly coded logic, but likely both.
Your partner plays sometimes against you and the behavior is erratic. A pity, ruins the experience.

First do the programmers who wrote this game really know how to play? Because the partner of the player makes some really terrible plays quite frequently. Second why doesnt the other team get an opportunity to play blind nello or nil like you do? In order to make the game fairer, you should add that feature, and when you are playing on the hard level, all players should really know how to play. Megan throws away spades right and left!

As a spade player only problem is the game really needs more syncing between players so it seems more like partners. Sometimes the avatar partner make moves that just dont make sense. If the game can adapt to your moves. If would be nice to add an option to play with the jokers. Or make the deuce of diamonds and spades high trump cards.
It keep s our head and our mind alive. Remembering the cards helps.
We appreciate the complexity it took to put this ap together. It was well done. Things that should be corrected – * The appearance was altered recently and it looks bad with smaller icons in a brighter screen we prefer the original appearance that looks like its backgammon and counterpart 1. Ability to change partner name, sex, ethnicity 2. Partner ability to play blind nill – when a bet of 0 or 00 is made the partner must always play high. Currently this is not programed into the partner. Example – partner wins hand then follows up with a Duce of spades 3. Blind 6 or Blind 7 with the ability to swap the lowest two cards for the highest two cards 4. To bid 10 for 200 points, and a BOSTON 5. Friends with same app having the ability to play friend! 6. The ability to confer with our partner after initial bid so as not to get extra books.
Love the game but hate the way you score it.
Please restore the original card faces! The new ones are difficult to differentiate. We think if we paid for the game we should get to choose the deck to use.
You should be able to choose different partners.
Like that the cards have more room for our fingers. Before we would accidentally press cards that we did not intend to to press.
We like the other way we were playing this is harder for us to see.
We loved it before the update. Now its small and we have a hard time reading it. You are not able to do any adjustments. We are older and dont want to squint to read it. So sad.
Peaceful way to pass the time on a rainy day.
The game is very good! The best Spades app we’ve played so far. However, even though we win about 3/4 of our games l, Megan is a very frustrating partner. She often seriously underboss and continues taking unnecessary tricks when the possibility of settling the opponents has passed. She also seem to bid with no awareness of the game situation. Particularly annoying is when she bids nil when we are a few hundred points ahead and nearly at 500. We dont know anything about programming so maybe its not possible to correct these things and still maintain the level of play. On another note, would it be possible to move.
Why cant users personalize their avatars? Not everyone is a white man or white woman! Come into the 21st century…
Its a no brainer game. Playing against computer. Our partner sets us a lot and most of the time, doesnt get her bid.
She makes mistakes in her gameplay that a beginner would be ashamed of, so that the user is left trying to guess what mistake shell make next so you can try to cover for her (good luck with that). Thus app is terribly programmed in that sense. We like the simplicity of the interface. A quality Spades app requires no bells and whistles, but solid gameplay is essential and this app fails miserably in that regard. Megan is, in short, a dimwit.
We dont like the the update that happened during November 2020. The numbers on the cards are real big and the text for the score is real tiny. We have trouble being able to read that tiny font size on the background. We wish we could roll back to the previous font sizes.
The plays she make is terrible!!! She cuts us when we already won the Book, at times when she can throw off. She call for Books that she doesnt have at all!!
Upgrade is horrible, so small can hardly even play. Not sure why they made it smaller?

We’ve had this app for years and have thoroughly enjoyed. The app has been ungraded for our iPhone and the size of the cards, players, bid selection and score have been shrunken down. We have this same app on our iPad and iPad Pro and there is not issues there. App looks the same as it always has. But not on our iPhone. What gives???
Please make the partner smarter. When you go nil why on earth would they play 2 when they have an ace in hand.

It’s our ‘go to’ way to pass the time. Would like our partner to play with more skill. Also would like to be able to pass two cards with a Blind Nil bid.

It’s a great way to pass time and can become addicting. Your partner doesn’t always make the best play, but neither will you. Great buy.
Wish you could still pass two cards on blind nil like on the free version. Enjoy not having be disturbed by all the stupid adds on The free version. No more interruptions. Just would have thought if you buy something it would have same features as free version. Glad to see they finally listened and now you can pass two cards on blind nil.
Out Of all the spade apps we’ve downloaded we always come back to this spade app. Without a doubt this is our favorite.
Enjoy playing but when hand is won no sense playing to last card.
When Im sick of TV viewing, we play a few games with Virtual Spades players. Its really good company. We’ve also opted to play a few games when we have other pressing assignments. Note- our eyes are old. Please consider making spades and clubs more clearly defined.
Not sure, but we think we understand Meghan. She’s looking out for when we are getting close to hitting 10 extra books and losing 100 points. Takes more mind off the cares of the world for a while.
Should be able to pass two cards on blind nil, as with the free version. Otherwise, no complaints.
