Spell&Speak is a Trivia/Education game from Mattia Confalonieri, first launched in 11th July 2012.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 25+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes Spell&Speak Stand Out

Spell&Speak is a tribute to the 80's game that has thrilled generations and teach them to read and write and have fun playing with his unmistakable "voice". In this new digital version retains it's flavor and simplicity typical of the game.

It offers different game modes: Spell, Say It, Letter, Code and Mystery Word, during which each letter typed and spoken word is the corresponding display on the display.

For 3 years children and up, you can learn while having fun, is also suitable for all adults with a hint of nostalgia, remember the good times we had to play and learn.

Spell&Speak is an Universal App, therefore compatible with all devices and already optimized to work well even on the New iPad with retinal display

• Spell Game
To start the game press the letter corresponding to the level you want (there are four levels of increasing difficulty, from A to D), and finally press GO the button.

At this point, the Spell&Speak says a word that the child will write and confirm by pressing the Enter key.

At the error, you have another chance to rewrite it.
If you are wrong, Spell&Speak pronounce the word three times, one of which spelling, so that the child has a correct perception of individual letters and the correlation between sound and form, this repetition after switching to the next word until the end the match. At this point the result is displayed, showing the number of correct words and misspelled words that were written.
Each play has 10 words.

• Say It Game
Say It offers a series of 10 random words that the child will repeat as they go while displaying their grammar and writing.

At the end of the game, the child may choose to continue with 10 other words or switch to another game.

• Letter Game
Pressing the Letter button Spell&Speak pronunciation and displays, each press of the button, a letter of the alphabet at random, before moving to the next letter, the child has the opportunity to write a letter shown below the text in its will.

This game is aimed to teach the various letters to distinguish the sound of reconnecting to the form and typing the same letter delivered by Spell&Speak, or can be used as a game of fantasy writing a word that starts with the letter proposal.

• Secret Code
Pressing the Secret Code button the child can write a word and with the Enter key can convert it into a secret code that consisting of numbers and symbols.

• Mystery Word
It consists in guessing the hidden word. On display are many hyphens as the letters of the word to guess. By pressing the correct letter, it appears going to position within the word itself.

If you fail more than 6 times the letter Spell&Speak will reveal the hidden word by pronouncing it and showing it on the display.

New in version 1.1

•Minor Bugfixing.
•Added the ability to play with Italian words while receiving instructions in English. (Key Module Select).
•Added the ""Best Voice"". The Original Voice is perfect if you want to relive the emotions of childhood. The "Best Voice" is better if you want to use Spell&Speak for educational purposes. (Key Module Select).
•Added the ability to use Spell&Speak with headphones, for the happiness of all parents :-) (do not recommend using headphones to children under the age of 12 years).

This Trivia game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:

Our brother uses the Speak & Read to communicate with the family. He had a stroke when he was one year old. Is there a way you could create the Speak & Read for the iPad? We know his original one is going to stop working and we dont want him to be without it. Please consider creating an app. Thank you.

So what we mean by our title is that some of the words are intelligble, but you can understand words like Earth, Angel, Word, Touch, etc. But certain words like To, Pull, Tool, can be very intelligible. Also we see this app as useful for other than the nostgia people wish to have but also for some of the other things at hand.

The original had a "Say It" function that would read out ten words that you had to spell afterwards — this doesn't seem to work the same. Also the original Spell A used simpler words. This does not seem to differentiate between Spell A-D. Ah well.. It's entertaining to some degree but makes us want to go out an shell on a used-yet-functional version of the real thing.

We feel ripped off it is a small picture of original. Unable to zoom in or see the buttons and it doesnt work properly. Save your money but the real thing or try another app.

This is the same voice used in many electronic music tracks in the 80'a and 90's. It would have been nice to add a feature not found in the original, such as speaking words you type into it. Menu options are too small to read clearly.

This app is a piece of crap. It literally does nothing. It just opens and that's it. Save your money! It's junk.

Very difficult to understand the words. Even "best voice" has an English accent which is very difficult to understand,.

As previous review mentions, the newer voice is MUCH easier to understand & the "British" accent makes it more fun for our son. (original voice very nostalgic – but could not understand) Fun for al ages.

This is the classic speak n spell in all its' unintelligible glory. We appreciate them keeping the same sounds, but the original voice is a little rough for a default. It wasn't until after we played for a while, gave up and wrote a review and read some more that we found a way to change the voice into a more modern one. It's hidden under the # key on the keyboard.

It does sound like the original voice. We saw that it had an alternative voice that would be easier for the kids, but we don't think that voice is very easy to understand. We can't find any directions so maybe there are settings that we're missing but if so, it looses stars for not being intuitive. The original machine had modules for different word lists. You could also cycle through several lists in the machine. This appears to only have "Spell A" single list. This list goes from the word "to" to "thorough" in the same list, it's not practical for our 6yo and just frustrates him not to use it. It would be nice with this new technology to allow the parent the ability to edit, or at least control, the word lists.

Its a cute speak and spell emulator. The buttons are almost too small to see on the iphone. Might be better on ipad. Sounds like the original. Would like the button text to be a bit larger.

This takes us back to our childhood when our uncle bought it for us and our brother.

Voice is perfect, but it cannot "say" anything you want it to. It just asks you to type words it tells you to type. Hard to type on small letters. Should never have been allowed to be put on App Store. Rip off. We want our money back.

Waste of an app and 1.99. We were bored after 30 seconds. We dont really remember the old one but we basically just wanted to type and have it read words but it doesnt. Has different "game modes" but really boring.

Perfect reproduction. Kraftwerk fans will recognize the voice and beep tones from "Computer World".

Our sister had this game and this app reminds us of those times. We'd be interested in the speak n math which is the game we had as a child.

We loved our Speak & Spell so we were thrilled to see a few apps out there emulating it. This app is the best, spot on and even has the original button types. Can't wait to share some memories with our kids.

The keyboard is WAY too small on the iPhone. It is very hard to type. Works fine on the iPad's bigger screen.

The improved voice has a strong British accent, so the original voice is actually better for correct American English pronunciation if you are using this as a learning game for a child.

Believe the reviews about it being hard to understand. We thought it said spell pull so we put poll and it was incorrect so we put pole and it said no the correct spelling is t o o l. But even worst is the buttons on the screen are so small you can barely push them to spell the words, they are a third of the size of the buttons on our iPhone keypad. You almost always hit the wrong letter but most of the time when we hit the buttons it says nothing at all. This is a complete scam. We want to know how to get money back.

Too hard to understand no matter which voice you use. We're glad our childhood memory was worth $1.99, this app surely isn't.

Back then, it was real. We bought it for the "memory." A very good friend indeed.

Love the clearer annunciation present in this version.Nails it! Well done:).

We played with a real Speak & Spell only a few years ago, and this is exactly as we remember it. Great.

Very well done….takes us back to our childhood.
