Description

Spells at your fingertips. Literally.

The Killer App for D&D v3.5 (d20) and Pathfinder RPG Gamers

SpellbookMaster for iPhone and iPad makes it easy to find Dungeons & Dragons v3.5 (d20) and Pathfinder spells fast and see detailed information for them.

You can browse spells by name, level, domain and class. For each class, see spells sorted by name or by level for easy access. Searching allows you to find spells by any search term.

To get you started, SpellbookMaster can automatically import d20 System Reference spells from www.systemreferencedocuments.org or Pathfinder reference spells from d20pfsrd.com. You can also import your own spells from text files.

Spellbooks can be shared among iPhones, iPod touches and iPads using the application. Spells can be edited on a Mac running SpellbookMaster for Mac 2.3, a free application, and then imported to the iOS app.

See http://petteri.kamppuri.fidisk.fi/spellbookmaster/ for more information.

SpellbookMaster Reviews

Thanks for your work on this app!

Very useful on the fly but the Mac version is better in that you can filter by spell level, class, and school. This App only allows for you to filter each of those things separately, making you search a giant amount of spells.

We honestly didn’t want to spend 8 dollars on a spell book app but it’s the only thing for IOS. This app isn’t horrible it just won’t really allow you to download anything but the basic SRD spells. Out of the tons of spells available you’re stuck with the players handbook.

Paid $8 for an app that doesn’t work. Even the default references that the app has built into it don’t download correctly. Completely unusable in it’s current form and a waste of $8.

Waste of 8$. Links don’t download spell books right.

We can’t believe the whiney negative reviews! Do people think these are "real" spells?? Of course the app doesn’t tell "how" to cast the spells… It is for RPGs… This app is simple to use, intuitive, updatable, you can switch between 3.5 and Pathfinder in a snap. We use this app at every game session. We love this app and highly recommend it if you play a caster in D&D or PF.

We’ve owned the app since its initial release and we love it. It works exactly as we need. We use it weekly.

Wonderful app, it’s definitely a time saver when playing or running our pathfinder games. We really enjoy the filtering options and its smooth interface. Hopefully in up coming updates it will allow filtering by all three of the filters at once, such as filtering all wizard spells that are 3 level and are in the evocation school. Also a wonderful addition for be to allow the user to create custom spell lists, as to keep track of the spells a particular character has for quick reference.

This app is a great resource for spells, but this could be even better if there was a way tokeep track of which spells you were preparing and using, as well asbeing able to mark which ones have been used already.

We bought this program for our cleric character who needs to memorize spells daily. While we can see all the spells we created on our Mac, it will not let us create a new spellbook on our iPad. We were hoping for the feature to create a book and move spells from the main list to the new book for daily use and then delete it when we learn more spells. If this feature got implemented, I’d easily give it 5 stars (especially for the price of the iPad app)

We read on the app support that there was a computer program (much like SpellGen) that was compatible with this app. We like the fact that one exists, but is there a way we can get this app to be Windows PC compatible? We have an iPad, but run a Windows PC. Another suggestion would be to have the ability to create multiple spellbooks in case of high party member mortality rates. A way to save spellbook by character in app, and the ability to prep and cast spells with a way to track spell components would be great too. We figured that since we were wishing on screen, we could go ahead and wish for the moon :-) Please email us with any resources that are compatible with our setup. Thank you.

Was great, but for some reason, it won’t update the Pathfinder Spellbook. The Pathfinder Spellbook was the reason we bought this app in the first place. Update?

Completely leaves you in the dark on how to do anything so your sitting there with nothing in the book how hard would it have been to just copy the spells over.

THIS THING STINKS! IT WON’T TELL ME HOW TO DO THE SPELLS,IT ONLY TELLS ME THE EFFECT,WHICH ONLY INFURIATES ME MORE! I’M SICK AND TIRED OF SPENDING MY MONEY ON APPS we DON’T NEED! IF YOU AGREE WITH ME, DON’T GET THIS APP. We GOT IT FOR MAKING SPELLS,SO we SPEND 8$ ON THIS JUNK. SERIOUSLY!

We thought we could use this app to create a custom spell book for our pathfinder character. All it does is recreate what we can get for free on the d20pfsrd website. We feel like we wasted $8. Very disappointed.

While the premise of this App is good, but it messes up the SRD files too much when it imports then (I’ve checked, the SRDs are correct). It does this most with Saving Throws and SR, which it either omits or mixes them up. Fix this bug, and I’d find this a lot more useful in a game (I’m relying more on real books than the App at this time).

Some spell names are listed as a website url which makes them difficult to find. Would like to see the ability to create your own spellbooks within the app. A bit pricey as well for what it does.

This is a terrible app! Do not purchase! We want an $8 refund!

You are left in the dark as to find and downlaod spellbooks for this app. Where you get them is the major problem, going to the website for help is like asking your dog. Pointless.

This app is WAY too expensive. We downloaded several and this has the same content as the ones less than half of it’s price. No supplement spells so sandstorm, frost burn, storm wrack are all out. Not to mention many others. Save your money get a cheaper app. If we could get our money back we would. But in this case we guess we’ll just try and help the other gamers not lose theirs.

Prior to the change to 1.4 Pathfinder spell description were available. Now all description for Pathfinder RPG are gone even after multiple reinstalls and forced removals. Recommend you get a better spell book with better options.

From five stars – please add a way to delete spellbooks when people like us do something stupid like download the same spellbook twice. Otherwise love the app. Very helpful in the game. Easy to use and saves a lot of page flipping. Edited to add a star. Oooh, so THAT’S how you do it. Swipe over the spellbook with your finger and the delete button comes up. Cool. 5 stars it is then.

It has every spell from the core books and a few more but it needs to have a way were you can put spells in that this dosnt support. Other than that worth the money.

We’re not even a caster and we get off on this app! This rofls our waffles, we tell ya what!

We’re not even a spellcaster or DM and we find this app incredibly useful. Price is a little steep, but it’s the most useful D&D spell tool we’ve ever seen. Definitely worth it.

Perfect. If ur a gamer, get this.

Great! This app rocks for DMs and spellcasters. This should be done for the powers of the classes ad races in the 4 edition of D&D.

Fantastic and very helpful. However, we wish there were spells from the spell compendium in it. It would also be great if there were invocations and psionics etc… Please try to add these next update.

This app is worth every penny for DMs with spell casters. Note:you need to connect to a wi-fi network to download all the PHB spells from the Wizards site by using a link on the app once you have downloaded them it’ll work. Thx for the update!

You should have seen the guys we game with when we showed them this app. It was like telling a group of adolescent girls that the Twilight characters are real and all single. It’s pretty perfect the way it is with what it does, our suggestion would just make it go above and beyond. If there was some way to create and save customized spell lists for your characters (and maybe mark when they’re used and reset when you rest) that’d be awesome. But all in all, it’s well worth the price.

… And then they updated it. Now it crashes when we hit Spellbooks. What the heck, man? … So we removed it and reinstalled it, and now it crashes when we open it. Edit 2… Huzzah! Thank you for fixing it!

In conjunction with the mac app, this app saves us tons of time searching through books to find the descriptions of any spells we need to use. One of our favorite apps on the iPod without question.

Great update, with the ability to add spells via a text file from a website it gives non Mac users the ability to have a spellbook consiting the spells they want. This is well worth the money, you can sort by Spell Name, School, Levels, or Classes and when looking by class you can sort it by level or spellname for that class. Why are you still reading? Go get this App.

Great app, but 7.00? You might as well give players the whole SRD for that.

Love the app, love the new import features! Well worth the money. This app has become a necessity at our gaming table and we love that it now supports the new pathfinder classes too! Props to an awesome app!

This application is just what we needed. We need a portable spell book and the Player’s Handbook 3.5 ed. Is prohibitively expensive. We tried several options including bringing our entire laptop with us. We were still wasting time "flipping" pages. Our biggest concern was that the spells would be paraphrased or otherwise modified. Neither was true. The spells you can download come straight from the D20 SRD resource for 3.5 and you can even edit the information. We also downloaded the Spellbook Master 2.2 for our Mac. Together they make us an unstoppable druid!

This app really streamlines things for our group. Keep up the good work.

Great resource to quickly browse through spells on the fly to prepare for memorization. Does exactly what it says. Just be warned that it only includes spells from the core rules. Spell Compendium spells are not included.

But for the price, we need to be able to input spells on the itouch. Or a pc version of your program (lol). 5 stars if we could input on itouch.

It needs the spells from the other books on the 3.5 end In general, quicker to look up then the actual books.

Works just as it’s says putting a great deal of info at your fingers tip. Our only issue is the price, it’s way to much for this kind of app. We would have been happy to pay 2 or 3 bucks for it but 8 feels wrong. Other the that I’d give it five stars.

This app is very handy for anyone wanting fast access to spells. It is very handy and a must have. Our only wish is a way to create spell books within the application itself and a way to add spells. As we do not have a mac we can only look up spells instead of making spell books.

A little expensive but worth it. Also, get someone to help you make a Windows version of the desktop app. We need to add in some spells but the mac interface makes us want to scream.

We can’t get new spells. It crashes when we hit the spellbook button in the upper left corner.

The first two imports of the d20 data from Wizards gave us corrupted spell books and we can’t delete them, but once we got it it works great. With no on board way to add spells and only "web" import or a MAC only specific app, the adding spells is left with the user wanting more.. If they add better ways to add/modify spells "individually" and easier ways to add additional spellbooks (plus searches across multiple spellbooks for when your not sure which one it’s in) this whould make it a 4 star, add the delete feature of both individual spells and spellbooks and you have a 5 star. Other then that it is nice to have the basic d20 spells on our iPod touch, handy for easy reference.

Great app so far, missing a pile of spells we usually use though.. They are probably not as common. A bit dissapointed that it went on sale after we bought it for 7 bucks but that’s life. Very east to use and a good interface.

So far, so good, but it needs more to really be a killer app.

We were all excited about this program… The price was a little steep, but if it did what it said it does, it would have been worth the $8.00… BUT when trying to open it after purchase, it crashes and closes the program. Most expensive app we have purchased and it will not even open for us. :0(
