User Reviews on Spirits of Mystery: Family Lies – Hidden Object

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Spirits of Mystery: Family Lies – Hidden Object below:

We love our mystery HOP games, but a lot of them have the same types of hidden object puzzles and other games/puzzles. We felt this game was very geared towards us as a woman, and they had very creative ideas that really kept us interested. The finding flowers with the amulet actually did not annoy us like other users are saying, it just gave us a nice break from running around figuring things out. We also like the calming music that did not make us feel like we had to rush through things. The only thing we would change would be the way they end things in the main story, it was a little odd and felt like they ran out of time.

We enjoyed this game. We dint have any problems with finding the flowers, we thought it was an enjoyable fun way to add a little something new in. The storyline was ok, we thought the graphics were decent (not Fab, not bad.. Decent) and it was a nice long game with a long bonus. We wish the little extras that they put in the game for you to find, added to the game & story, but we do think it’s worth playing.

New update… After reloading the game several times, we were able to purchase it. Gave it a 4 star because of the issues with purchasing the game. Giving it a 5 star as we are enjoying the game more then we have some of our past purchases. Will look to see it there are other related games.

Excellent graphics, we love there unique style it’s different. We like different, but to each his own we say it’s definitely not a cookie cutter game, which is a plus for us.. We love it!!!

Interesting and intriguing. Great game to play. Graphics, gameplay, characters, all fun.

We loved this game. Great puzzles and interesting story line.

Nice graphics. Storyline is good. Challenging, but not too difficult!

Keep you on your toes. Make you think and to solve problems kool.

Like they say- oldie but a goodie! We keep this game in the back and replay every once in a while. Always find something new each time we play!

Great game and awesome graphics.

Really enjoyed this games. The layers you have to peel away keeps you focused. One of the best we’ve ever played.

Love Love Love this game… Graphics are awesome… It challenges us… We like that.

Great navigation controls we could listen to our own music. Storyline was fun. The puzzles were diverse. All around winner.

Note to Izzyoc: we really hope you bought this game; it was worth it. You know there is no love lost between us and ERS after the whole PuppetShow debacle but this game was terrific. You know we don’t hand out stars easily either! We went back and read your review, as well as those of KimTwilight and Dracyy. We don’t know why we liked this game so much more than you all did. Maybe we are bored and we don’t know how to knit! The storyline was interesting and easy to follow, even without a cohesive journal. It was a fairytale about love gone wrong. You could customize settings. The game was lengthy and had a decently long bonus adventure. The graphics were crisp and clear and quite eerily beautiful. There was a marked (if so chosen in settings) teleport map to transport you, and this time ERS let you know when there was an active task so there was no useless running around, with marks everywhere! There was a slight lag time between locations but it wasn’t interminable. At each location you collect hidden pearls to decorate a boudoir, and it was the only collection. No stupid morphing objects which we truly detest! Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. The HO scenes had variation and some were more like puzzles, so they weren’t boring for a change. We liked the selection of puzzles/games because it wasn’t all boring rotational nonsense. You had to paint, embroider, crack codes and formulate potions, and there were a couple of games which tested dexterity. The gimmick in this game was a magic mirror used to destroy evil roots. We deducted the star for the following reasons: no actual journal, short lag time loading between locations, and you could tell that English was not the developer’s first language due to poor grammar, vocabulary and syntax. There was a slight touch sensitivity issue when using inventory items but not enough to prevent us from finishing the game. Oh, we forgot! Of course we must mention there were a couple of rodents but ERS made them cute this time. We will deny ever saying that! We would definitely play a sequel if it was as good as this game! DTE, this is a definite winner! Or maybe we just enjoy fairytales! Lynxie sends you all tons of !

Graphics lovely. Story not bad. A lot of back and forth but ok. Some of the HO games confused us and or couldnt find due to dark screen ( hint to the rescue ). LONG game + bonus game. Played well no issues/glitches. Purchased on sale. Well worth it.

Using the lens to locate items was annoying, because we found them all, but they didn’t disappear and we didn’t get credit for them. The hint button didn’t help. We finally realized, after some trial and error, that we needed to stay on the item until it faded away. There was no map until you got to the end of the trial game, so, is it a good map? Who knows. The trial game ended! This is from a series that we like. We’ve purchased most, if not all, of them. We’ll probably buy this one, too, though we didn’t like some elements of it. We disliked the matching card game, even though it was set on easy. We were distracted and impatient to move on. Climbing a thorn bush was pretty lame, too. And the puzzles were too simple. Seems like it MIGHT be okay, but, we’re not sure.

We have been spoiled by games you can teleport to and little morphing objects to look for. We thought the graphics were terrific! There is nothing at all wrong with the game. It is just our preference to have a map which also helps when you get completely stumped. We prefer to never hit the hint button. LOL.

The map is not very useful. You collect so many objects before you use them Very little logic to where things will be. Sorry we paid for it. Update: Having already paid, we persevered. The logic is still missing, but there was enjoyment – with copious use of the map.

As it takes place during the medieval times, this game represents a dark fantasy genre with pronounced horror-like elements; unfortunately, the plot sets forth a borrowed and recycled theme, which is void of any original concepts. The imagery is typically inauspicious; and it will generate a terrifying reaction, such as when you become trapped in a musty, decayed, and deplorable dungeon containing horrifying spike-covered contraptions and the skeletal remains of unfortunate victims. The graphics are satisfactorily rendered with nicely and clearly drawn illustrations, which create an almost realistic representation of the environment. The color scheme steadfastly exhibits a monochromatic base of lighter and darker tinges of blue, and this achieves an overcast and timorous mood. You can customize your settings; options should please your needs. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. We love the design layout of the features at the bottom, as well as the quick and convenient access to the collectibles and achievements. In custom mode, the teleport map allows for brisk transport to labeled locations and indicates available objectives. Transition between scenes, though, is slightly delayed by a few seconds; however, there’s no other glitches to report. The HOS are diverse, interactive, and puzzle-like; you might use an inventory item to effectuate an action, which, in return, will initiate an HOS. They can also be story driven in which you will find items in accordance with a narrative story. Some of the puzzles are the "one move affects another move" type; furthermore, there are micro puzzles peppered throughout and within the close-ups. The collectibles are used to furnish a room, which is accessible at any time. This installment feels outdated since it lacks any current-trending aspects that are prevailing in other developers’ games; Madhead is one such example of an avant garde expertise. Having said the above, our true rating is 3.5 stars but bumped down to 3 stars. There is a secret core within our imagination that produces an inclination toward medieval-like men with long hair, such as Isa (minus the giant beak). So…, we kinda stared at the screen a few times. Shush! Don’t tell!

Too long and boring. Game play makes no sense at all. The HO scenes are difficult and time consuming. Would not recommend buying this game.

Isa is back but with a twist. Usual vapid nanny, useless supporting characters and way too many Ho scenes. Good graphics thankfully transporting map but once again no diary. Game was predictably short. Buy on sale if you are bored. Otherwise- well we’ll be knitting because this one wasn’t worth more than one run through.

Compared to other big fish games, we thought this was very short and not too difficult. We play the export level with no hints or sparkles. It seemed more geared toward a younger audience.

It has so many glitches. You cant even play it. We’ve had to open open it and close it. Multiple times to get features to work. Right now Im at a spot where theres no objectives available and we cant go anywhere either. Waste of money.

We really did not enjoy this game. The storyline is very poorly constructed. The overuse of the mirror was tedious and frustrating (they make you hover over the entire screen looking for these flowers that honestly looked more like creepy crawlers). The puzzles were mediocre with a few stand outs. We didn’t understand the Bonus Chapter at all. It felt all around poorly made and just slapped together. Shame on them for charging anyone for such a game.

We did not enjoy this game at all. Weak storyline, too repetitive with the mirror. The whole storyline is getting old. Hidden object scenes were o.k. As well as the puzzles. Teleporting map, a plus – missed a journal. Hoping that Big Fish will start giving more than 2 games a week, so those of us that play & purchase regularly will have some choices. Just too much lag time between games. Regretting this purchase. 2 stars being generous. KdBoots.

Omg this game is so fun so far we hope we do note have to pay for the next chapter we are so addicted to this game we so happy lol.

We’re not buying games from ERS anymore. The graphics are just awful. Muddy, dull, like something out of a child’s coloring book. Really ugly.

We just paid for this game and it doesnt work we would like our money back.

This game has the worst voice acting of any game we’ve ever played, which is saying alot. Did not purchase full version.

The mini games were impossible, it should come with a magnifying glass to find important areas to work. Worse BIG FISH hidden object game we’ve played.

You cant even open the whole picture. We only get 1/8 of a screen we took a pic and wish we could add it to show! We would like our money back!

No way to get back into our game. Its telling us we completed it. Went to bonus and it picks up where we left off but now we cant get pieces we need because we completed it. We tried starting over and its showing all tasks done. And the map is not even there. We paid $6.99 for a game that wont let us complete it. Bogus. Last time we pay Big Fish for anything. Even developers site doesnt let you ask a question about this.

We thought this game was a real ho-hum. And it’s new! There are so many remarkable techniques used in other new BF games–but not this. For the most part, we found this game WAY too easy and went through it so fast there was not much point in it for us. It turned us off that the "Queen" gets pregnant with her boyfriend, then marries the King. This is righteous??? Did anybody else have a problem with that? Did poor little queenie find herself with no other choices? Blech.

We only see a parcial game in our screen . Im trying to open the game in our iPhone .

We have loaded this game about five times, it gets pretty flustrating. When ever we load it it comes up sideways. The game really looks like fun. Please fix it.

It had so much promise, yeah the spy glass thing was hard to work but eventually got easier. However the end of the game was clearly rushed with how incomplete the ending and picture were. It was just sketches and looked so incomplete and it did nothing but leave us with more questions then answers. Same goes for the bonus chapter which made no sense. Please be smart and don’t waste your money. We wish we hadn’t.
