Dive into Stock Market Board Game

Stock Market is a retro-style board game for the iPad.

Play the Stock Market and you could earn your fortune! With each throw of the dice, you can buy and sell shares, collect dividends and attend stockholder meetings. The winner is the first person to reach the "Winning Net Worth". Several game rules are customizable allowing you to adjust the behaviour of the game and extend or shorten the length of a game.

The stock prices go up or down with each move depending on the square you land on. Remember to buy low, sell high and attend as many stockholder meetings as possible and you could earn your fortune playing the market.

Play against three difficulty levels of AI, other (local) humans or any combination of the two.

Custom board layouts can be added via iTunes.

Hear from the Players – Stock Market Board Game Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Stock Market Board Game:

Despite some comments we’ve seen, we have managed to build our wealth up to almost 3.6 quadrillion. It gets difficult to sell fast enough when shares reach very high in the billions but the key is to always have enough cash on hand to survive the corner… Barely enough cash is BEST. After surviving the corner sell only as much of your stocks as you need to barely survive the next corner ONLY IF you’re within 12 spaces of it. Sell stock only when on the high side if possible. This method maximizes your wealth in stocks at all times… Which is how you make all your money. Also don’t accumulate too much excess cash because idle cash does nothing. Buy tons when on the low side when possible but always buy what you don’t have regardless. The computer DOES NOT favor itself we have found. Just prepare in advance and you’ll do very well.

We loved this game as a kid, so finding it was awesome. But all the other reviews are right. Dice rolls are not random. After 10 games, it’s obvious the AI is quite a bit "luckier" at all times. Example being we get 3for1 and the next two rolls from AI send market down 40 total points making our newly acquired shares practically worthless. Watched it happen twice. Plenty other examples. Aside from that, gameplay is solid. Hard to see the stock names on the squares though and color coding your portfolio would be helpful. Fix the randomness of the die rolls and this becomes 5star. Until then, 2 it is.

As some others have written there is some kind of dice/probability issue we land on undesirable spaces at least 10 times as much as the computer player.

We know for a fact every single time we are in 2-1 spot, the next dice roll will be sell all shares, 1,2, or 3 for 1 spots are a curse. Make dice actually random and we will wear this game out! Just fix the dice! We left review year or so ago with same suggestion. We see we are also not the only one to notice.

Updated review 6/16/17 our review at the bottom says it all! Thank you for the update, for now we can play on our iPad mini 4. We have to say that we’re really impressed with this board game and kicking myself for not buying sooner. Seems whatever the minor issues people were talking about before of this game was taking care of in the most recent update. During our few couple of games after purchase, not once did we experience a problem on our iPad 3. There are so many different board games available on iOS and am glad to add this to our very small collection of board game apps. Hope to see some more board games from Mr. Beggs in the near future.

Our dad and we used to play the board game edition but it’s been years … Thanks for making the game for the ipad :) … We miss Alcoa though :)

Gerry Beggs did an exceptional job of capturing the essence of the original board game. We began playing the original board game in the late 60’s and continued for years as a family holiday tradition. Wore out two board games. This is a good old fashioned fun board game, not intending to be a stock market simulation learning tool. Hours of enjoyment for $.99, now that is a value. One caution… It is addictive.

This is our relaxation game, and we have played it many times. We have it set to end at $100 Billion with three computer players and we win about 3/4 of the games. Played the board game years ago and really enjoy playing this on our iPad. Thanks.

Brings back our childhood. Option to sell billion shares or 1/2 of shares would be a great addition. Dice rolls don’t seem very random. Many times we’ll roll a 2 and end up on a corner, and have to sell as gazillion shares.

This app soon won’t be working on iPads unless you do. Love the app.

You just have to play the game right. The thought of it being rigged is so dumb.

Like another reviewer said, when playing a computer opponent, you repeatedly land on the broker fee square. That and along with landing on the sell all consistently as you leave the shareholders area, makes this game unplayable.

Stupidest game ever. It’s a lot of fun but you ALWAYS land on the squares that the take EVERYTHING and they NEVER do. And it’s not that they never do and u do occasionally. You land on em REPEATEDLY and they never do. It’s pathetic. And doesn’t deserve a fraction of a star.

Was very happy to find this game in the app store. Very well done! The best board game out there! Couple of suggestions. Would be nice to have multiplayer like with the Apple game center and also local wifi multiplayer. Have the line marker (red line) on both sides of the current stock prices. The option to sell stock at lowest price if you do not have enough cash to buy when you land on a space so that you can buy stock on what you landed. Place down or up arrow beside stock prices showing the current direction the stock is moving. Place the grand total amount for each player of stocks and money so you know how close the game is between opponents. Thanks again for a awesome job! Keep up the good work!

We used to play a stock market based board game and this one, while taking a few play-throughs to get to hang of what was going on, is much more intuitive to play. The one thing that helped us to play was noticing the layout of the stock prices for the companies. The companies with the biggest price swings are on the outside and prices with modest changes are in the center. Also, the companies that go up in prices with the market are on the left half and the companies that go up against the market are on the right. Finally, keep an eye on the red line on the very right, it’ll tell you the market wheel’s relative position so you know when a particular stock is at it’s highest or lowest. Our only criticism is that there are spaces in which you are forced to sell all of your stock in one company at a HUGE loss. Seems too harsh. We would suggest modifying it so that you have to sell them at half the market price. That would be a little easier to stomach than selling 100 shares at $15 each when they are really worth $50 each. Other than that, VERY pleased with this game!

This is exactly how we remember playing the board game save for the name change of the stocks. It is very addictive, yet it seems that after a few games, the computer and we win about 50/50. For those of you who have played this classic board game, you will be very happy with this app. A great buy for 99 cents! Enjoy.

This plays exactly like the original game. While it doesn’t play like how the stock market works, it is a great throwback game that plays just like the classics. Easy to learn and hours of fun!

I’d give this game 5 stars except something needs to be done about selling/buying hundreds of thousands of shares. Trying to sell billions of dollars worth of stock 1000 shares at a time is excruciating.

4/5 stars is not anything to do with give quality of this game. We have actually tried to play this game by webcam, with our father, with both of us having a board, so if you could create an online function we will give you 5 stars.

Played this as a kid growning up. Miss the old names:Western Publishing, J.I. Case, Woolworth, etc. You’ll love playing over and over with different options avalilable. Only complaint: the DICE, random generator is anything but random, have played over 30 games and have never seen a number repeat, like rolling a seven two times in a row. Would love to see this upgraded!!! Would also like the ability to slide the entire stock price table to look to see how far away in price we are to the bottom, other than the red indicator to the right. Thanks so much.

Played original board game for days endlessly. Love this electronic version! Would like to see online version (GameCenter or Wi-Fi) for competition and larger share denominations for larger goals. Only issue appears to be A.I. Dice rolls don’t appear truly random. Seems A.I. Doesnt like large playoffs to human players. 6/10 dice rolls with large stakes will result in "predictable" outcomes causing loss of stock or money. Electronic players seem to have much better luck with dice roll outcomes.

To the developer: Please update/tweak the game for improvements on buying/selling shares. Please don’t let this game fall to the wayside. Giggity! Let’s hear it for version 1.1 !!!

Loved this as a kid love it as an app. We like to play for big money but selling 1,000,000 shares 1,000 at a time takes tooooo long. Can you add a larger share denomination or a place we can punch in a number and bulk sell.

Not a bad game. The only problem, after many game-play that we have noticed is that we can almost predict the dice roll and where the chip will fall. Chances are that they will fall either where we have to payout or on a near bankrupt square. The probabilities are preset. It becomes frustrating when the dices fall against you, but worse when you can predict that it will on your roll. The dice-fall are set against human players. In other words, it’s obvious the computer has been tweaked against the human player. Fix it.

It is a faithful, boring, not flashy implementation of the old classic.
