⋆Sudoku+ Reviews
The hard puzzles are way too easy; we hardly use any advanced techniquesThe expert level it is way too much though (endless chains to identify) So we end up playing the hard until we get bored and then go to expert, where we spend most of the time trying to identify chains (using our hints). We wish there was one more level in between the two!!
The very second expert puzzle we tried in this version had 3 unique solutions with no logical way to pick one. The developers of this app dont seem to realize that uniqueness is only a logically correct method of solving a puzzle if that puzzle can be solved without it. Also, the hint UI is broken; the text is broken up into short sentences that would fit on the screen, but instead of filling empty space theyre compressed into a crappy scroll box that only shows half the text at once.
A wonderful and refreshing update to an app we’ve used for years. Love the addition of daily challenges. Our only criticism is it appears the background music was removed with the latest update. It was very relaxing and oddly enough was one of our favorite parts of the app. Please bring it back in a future update!
The previous update was a huge dud, visibility sucked. Plenty of us told them about it here and directly. It worked! It’s a lot better than it was after the update. Doesn’t seem to be quite as nice as it used to be but it’s so much better that it feels refreshing.
V3 changed the UI and the colors are terrible. Lack of adequate contrast, greyed out icons that are virtually impossible to see, and the new score display burries the game time, which is the most important stat of the game. The only positive is that you can now see the phone status bar when playing.
The author made a horrible decision to ruin the user interface. It is now indistinguishable from any other particle in the enomous heap of hyped-up children’s games. Sadly, we will likely delete this app and look for a sane, non-"gamer" sudoku.
This was our go-to Sudoko game, but the notes in the new version have changed and are much harder to read than the previous version. We cant find an option to use the old view, which would be great.
Could you have an option of the old color scheme and highlighting? We really liked this sudoku until your recent change. Enough we bought this plus version after using the free one. Now its just messy to look at and distracting and harder to read. We just have no fun playing it anymore.
This is the best sudoku app. All of Brainium’s apps are the best. 9/28/21 update: recent updates to Sudoku have made it incompatible with our device (iOS 9.3.5) and the available themes make it uneasy to read on our other device (iOS 14.7.1). Quite a disappointment.
We used to play this a lot but the last update ruined the app for us. Cell highlighting now makes it really hard to analyze the game and the removal of landscape mode makes it harder to play as well. Can we go back to what it was before?
We used to love this app until the last update. Rows are now painted in color as hints. Its distracting to say the least. It also dumbs down the game. We will delete this app now and look for a better one.
We loved this game. It was really the best Sudoku app for us. But the new update we honestly dont understand why you changed the design, because now its impossible to see when we play the game. Whether the board is white or dark, its so much harder to see the numbers. Before, when you touched a square, helpful columns and rows would in a light color would appear; thats gone now. The font is tiny. Its just a nightmare to play. Please fix this. Why would you ruin an awesome game with bad design?
What are you thinking. Whole game becomes unreadable. You have ruined it.
This game used to have contrasting color blocks which highlighted blocks potentially containing the selected number. Highly visible! Now, instead, they just use a different colored font to highlight the number. Nowhere near as visible! Its taken the joy out of the game. We consider this user interface nearly unusable now. Yes, we tried lots of different option. We were a big fan of this implementation of Sudoku. Disappointed.

This a fun game that has become an obsession. Playing is a challenge, especially if you have not played before. But it can’t but help keeping the brain active, and helps us relax.

As always, Brainium produces games with graphics far superior to any competitor. Surely everyone from beginner to expert will find the games fun and challenging. Very highly recommended.
Like having option to make notes & inputs from touching square and number keys. Usually use number keys for notes and square touch for number input. The touch & feel of the game is excellent. Very high quality.

- Allows for easy annotation of possibilities for those who need to do this 2. Allows for easy update of possibilities 3. Optional settings allows to set auto updates or manual updates and several things to choose from to make the game work the way you want it to function 4. For people who are learning, there is a hint feature that points you to a block, row or column and gives you a chance to figure it out. If you can’t, it provides a further hint until the answer is revealed. What we like best about this feature, is that it explains the rationale so that you may learn a new solving technique.
We enjoy playing this game. Because of the innovative screen display, we find myself able to solve more advanced puzzles. The help files behave as teaching tools rather than just showing you an answer.

App is well put together and has an elegant interface. We would prefer the option to have a flat theme rather than the skeuomorphistic look with the bamboo and other 3dish elements, but this does not detract terribly from an otherwise excellent app.
Great game with good interface.
Enjoy this game very much! We do think the difference between between difficulty levels need to be revised. Agree with Breezy and Easy difficulty, but the next one is too much a jump in difficulty. Also, like to see the third level brought down in difficulty a touch. Very glad to see the version we have, which is paid for with out ads. Would like to see puzzles with out the pattern of the distribution of the numbers. That is, they often have a symmetrical distribution of the numbers in a balanced pattern. Also, the options and settings are very enjoyable. One last note, the back ground and text are the same color, all white, in this statement review. Please adjust. Had to go to another application to write, copy, and paste this text.
Bar none, this is the good standard for sudoku apps on the iPhone. We’ve been playing this one for at least 7-8 years, and it is the most reliable, even coming with cool features that we havent seen in any other app; the coolest is that if youre stuck and you request a hint, itll tell you an official strategy for solving sudoku puzzles (i.e. X-Wing, Finned Swordfish, etc.) and how to apply it in your own puzzle. We didnt know what those were or how to utilize them until playing this app. The user interface is also extremely intuitive, pleasing on the eyes, and easy to learn and master, so the only problems youll have to navigate are the ones in the puzzles themselves. We have gotten so much better at sudoku because of this app; we used to barely understand sudoku before this, but we’ve learned a lot and had so much fun doing it.
We love the hint feature, but wish we could read more about hidden pairs and wings and whatnot without only seeing it via the hints. At least a learn more type button? The explanations are already implemented, so seems like theyd just have to mock an example grid to reuse them.
We played the commercial version for a couple years but the commercials became more difficult to pass and often froze our phone. It was worth the upgrade to us. This game is very challenging and as many reviewers have noted, the hints are not answers. They really help you play the game better. If you love to play Sudoku we highly recommend this app. Unfortunately our 834,000 points from our old app did not transfer over. If the developers could help us with this we would be so grateful!!
Im a long time Sudoku player. We looked high and low for one that had the option to reveal all notes for all cells at the beginning. This, besides one from an internet newspaper, has it. The newspaper gives you only one game per day. This one comes with every game if you choose that option. Putting down notes of possible numbers in a single cell is the most time consuming part of playing this game. This one saves you all that time. In addition, it lets you manage the notes… Taking numbers off and putting them on. The hint feature is awesome. It takes you through each hint step by step in a tutorial way. Then to top it off, it applies that hint, if you want. Great game. Its worth every penny…. Dollar!
