Hear from the Players – Swap Sword Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Swap Sword:

The core mechanic of swapping around is pretty fun, and the strategy feels rewarding for such a simple game. Definitely worth being a time-killer.

This game is easy to pick up and play but extremely challenging and incredibly deep. It’s a strategy game but it’s main mechanic is that of a match 3 which leads to a lot of randomness. That can be tough sometimes but it’s polished, fun and addicting. Not to mention amazing art and great SFX!! ;)

This game is super addictive. Once you beat the game, you realize that the score chase is deep and the strategy is deeper than it first appears. You’ll find yourself compulsively playing "just one more run" over and over. This is a perfect bus/train game. We love it!

All of you players that play this to the end and stop are quitters. The true challenge is to beat this game with the highest score on the leaderboard. We’re aiming for #1. We’re coming for u skeletromp.

This old game still plays fantastic on our new phone. No issues. Super user friendly UI, and no ads or IAP. Small file size and good on battery. We dont agree with other reviews saying its too easy or that it lacks content. Strategy and luck have to align just right for you to win. We’ve come close but havent won yet. The brilliance of this game is that it tracks two high scores: a win score, and a death score. So even if you lose, you get a score to try to beat next time. This keeps you motivated. And once you win, you get a high score to try to beat next time you win. So you dont need more content, as some are wishing it had. We find this game perfect as is. And because it saves at all times, you can just make one move if thats all you have time for. So youll find yourself playing a lot here and there. Its a perfect filler game for any downtime you have. And because its not overly long, its not daunting to start over. This is one of those rare perfect games that, old as it is, still looks and works perfectly. We highly recommend this game. Its a match 3 with light strategy and some luck. Awesome.

The fun in this game comes after the first time you beat it – finding the strategies to get the highest score possible every play through. Great replayability and worth every dollar.

Still playing this a lot. Loving the challenge of pushing for maximum points without taking too much risk and dying … Or ending the levels too early.

The twist to this matching game creates an experience unlike any other.

We’re only giving 3 stars because of how short it is. We loved playing this game! But when it ended after only three levels we were very disappointed.

Fun twist on Match 3. The playfield is a dungeon map and you can move your character around collecting keys and fighting monsters. But this feels like a prototype. No character progression, only one character, no weapons and very few skills. Doesn’t even have rewards for making matches! Each game is a high score run, and once mastered, is pretty easy to accomplish unless you get a string of bad luck. Art is nice and core concept is awesome but needs so much more to make a worthwhile purchase. Swap Sword 2 please!!!

An interesting game at first. But quickly breaks its own rules like the fire enemies not counting as enemies for matching. It probably wasnt worth the $3.

Interesting take on a match 3 style game, but it gets really hard really fast. No permanent upgrades for your characters, making it not really rewarding as you go for how many levels you can pass.

We found the game kind of dull and repetitive–a combination that doesn’t work. Look elsewhere for match-3 hybrids.

The concept is pretty cool and fun, but it really isn’t enough in itself to be worth it in our opinion. Would be so much nicer if there was a mode where you could use your coins/score to upgrade your weapons/skills/characters/etc. And some kind of unlocks would make it so much better…

Beat it in 7 mins. Worth $.99 MAYBE.

But it could be SO MUCH better! Pros: The gameplay is addictive and fun, we love most of the sound effects and graphics and it keeps us on our toes! It never gets boring! Cons: WAY too pricey for what you get, plus Its not rewarding – at all! No reward for matching 4-5 items, no boosts or power ups to encourage you, and the boosts they DO offer dont work out very well. Theres only 3 levels and the tutorial could be a little more thorough. Plus, this game WILL make you rage!!!! Its incredibly frustrating and we hate the sound of being bonked on the head! It gets stressful very quickly! The cons are more annoying nitpicks that should be fixed more than anything, except for the price! Make it a LOT cheaper or add more levels and rewards! At least update the game once in a while!

Just a frustrating grind to always start over from scratch. Not enjoyable. Progress almost never occurs and it is random at best. Vastly overpriced. Ugh. Just, Ugh. … This is not the game you are looking for.

A little short but awesome job.

Elegant mechanics. Short, but this encourages high risk/reward play for maximizing your score, which really adds another layer to the game once you’ve mastered the basic runthrough.

Swap Sword mixes strategy, excitement, and delightful graphics to make a fun, fast-paced game that gives us sweaty palms and makes us laugh at the same time. We have a feeling we’re going to be playing this for a long time. Since games can go long, we love that we can put it down whenever we need to do something in real life (like eat food or something stupid like that) and come back right where we were. Buy Swap Sword, get high scores, and don’t get killed by Death!

Fantastic idea, great puzzler! I’d love an option to enable some haptic feedback when playing, like in Bad Chess.

This game is a lot of fun There’s a good amount of depth to be had from emergent strategies stemming from the power ups you choose. Cute art/animations and the sound the lizards make when they can’t find you is prefect. Our only asks: remove tutorial between levels after you’ve seen it once and maybe an option to NOT take any of the available power ups? Nice work, y’all!

Swap ’til your silly in this superb title. Great fun for a few minutes or for an excessive amount of time (remember to take breaks). The sound of the hatching eggs is worth it alone. Gotta Swap ’em all!

We really enjoy this game. Love the reimagining of such a played out mechanic. It’s fun and challenging. To those who say the game is too short.. Try beating your own high score. It’s easy to breeze through the game if all you want to do is get to the end, but it’s so much more rewarding trying to get the most points possible each round. You’ll discover how difficult (and fun) it is to finish the game when you do that. We think our only criticism is that for $3 there should be a little more even if it’s just cosmetic like different characters. Regardless still a great game and glad we got it.

A breath of fresh air in the match-3 genre. Buy it.

Watch for the animation when the creatures hatch from eggs.

Fun to play, and awesome graphics! Full of interesting new twists from the standard match 3 game.

Worth the dosh for sure. Wish there was an endless mode!!

We were introduced to the beta of this game because of our friend Eric, and we were instantly hooked. This is a great game if you like match 3 games or even if you don’t.

Really enjoy the gameplay and will likely keep playing it, but it’s incredibly short. Only 3 worlds and two colored enemies. Would like to see the final boss as a playable boss rather than a cutscene. Would also like to skip the tutorials for each level. Please do keep updating the game with additional content, as we end up setting our own goals, since the content is so sparse.

We enjoyed this game. It’s a fresh take on the familiar block swap game. We gave it 3 stars not for the actual game play, which is good and dynamic, but because it’s very short and has little to offer in replay-ability. You can finish it during the first play through in about 25 minutes or so. We don’t think Swapsword needs to be more difficult, it just needs more actual game. Also it needs something to spend the money you gather on? Maybe that’s how you could afford the upgrades offered at the end of each level.

If this game were free, it would definitely be a five star game. Unfortunately it felt more like a rip off. The concept, art, and the overall feel of the game is great, but it’s so short. We beat the game the second day we got it and there really is not a lot of replayability. This could easily live up to its worth if the developer just added either more levels, characters, and game modes, or just made the game free. As it is, it’s nowhere near worth 3$.

A good idea that feels underdeveloped. Beat it in under an hour, which is weak for a $2.99 game. Needs depth and breadth–until then it’s a half-baked demo. Avoid for now.

This is a combination of game flavors we didn’t know we wanted, but now we love it! Super worth your time and money.

You could make the argument that this game is like any other matching game, except it’s beautiful to look at, takes real strategy and really makes you think. So, it’s actually totally unlike any other game. And that’s why we keep coming back!
