Talisman, the magical quest game from Games Workshop, is a classic board game that has been enjoyed by fantasy fans for nearly 35 years. No. Talisman doesn’t really suit asynchronous play due to players having to react to spell casting.

Everything is fully updated, iOS to the latest version, game latest version. Still will crash sometimes, especially Battle Royale ending. Some aspects of ui are clunky / unintuitive. We bought multiple expansions too.
We love this game. Its fun, you can put it down and pick it back up whenever you want, and it allows for a ton of different play options. Really great. Unfortunately, though, the app does not allow you to listen to music/audiobook/podcast while it is open and we cannot imagine this would be horribly difficult code to add given that much less sophisticated apps have no problem letting Spotify, etc. Run in the background. Normally, we would absolutely give the game five stars but the inability to have background noise (aside from the game music and sound) is a real bummer.
We havent played in a while but it used to work fine. We own the game and a bunch of expansions on Steam and it wall supposed to be cross platform which was a big selling point for us. We opened the game for the first time in a few years and it doesnt remember our expansions, so we try logging into their new login and update the app and now the game crashes on startup and wont even start. Nice updates.
We have enjoyed playing this game for many years. As a child in the 80s, our friends and we played the original board game version. We discovered the digital version several years ago, and were able to keep playing all throughout the pandemic. We just updated to Version 34.00 and immediately the game crashes as soon as we try to launch it. (Black initial splash screen for ~1s and CRASH.). Love the game, but obviously cannot play if the game crashes. We hope this is fixed soon.
Purchases erased – wont restore. Wasted money.
We love this game, both the irl version and the digital one. The latest update, however, not so much. It erased nearly all of our expansions. We repurchased some before we contacted customer service, and they compensated us with some extra expansions, as well as restoring our purchases. Overall, a positive customer service experience and an awesome game.
We are always reluctant to purchase any app with a lot of MBs. But we do have the board games, the design of the game looked accurate, no one will play Talisman with us so we thought Id take a chance. We were happy with our choice and even bought a few extras like the Grim Reaper expansion. After many plays this does feel much like the board game. We also purchased Origins not really knowing what exactly Id get but was happy with that as well. We like the many scenarios available, and the extra boards around the corners are really cool, we need to look and see if those exist for the board game as well. Our one and only complaint is the placement of the roll die. Perhaps this has been addressed in the last update. Sitting at the top middle of the screen it blocks part of the woods. If one of our move choices is to go the woods with a card on it, Ill sometimes click it to see the card yet hit the die for a re-roll we didnt want. Its nearly impossible not to. So we would please ask the designers to place that die somewhere else where it doesnt hover over game spots. Or make the top die dead to touch and keep the re-roll on the far right. When Im down to one fate, as far away from the bottom game board as possible, losing our last fate this way is frustrating. But we are recommending to anyone who is a fan of the board game, you wont be sorry.
We have had nothing but unpleasant experiences with the AI in the game. We have played against them with a friend, by myself, even set it up to where we would have the advantage against the AI. This was all futile, as it seems every roll and card draw the AI does is programmed to be the best outcome for them. We really cant think of a logical reason why the AI would be so exceedingly difficult, and its a huge con to this game. Please rebalance the AI. Other than that the game is a great rendition of the physical one.
The dice rolls arent random if you have a higher craft or strength you are so much more likely by 90% to roll higher, its incredibly stupid not random and not fun and has specific cards that are meant to destroy your characters and just kill you off and then you have to start a whole other game, dont waste your time or money.
We really dig this for when we dont have time to break out the board and all the expansions. Talisman is a fun, easy game to learn and we feel like this digital version was developed very well. Theres a lot going on on the board and the interface for everything works well. Of course we prefer playing on the tabletop, but this provides excellent convenience when Im on the go.
We love the game, and how the app works, but the dice rolls dont feel random. 5 games in a row we got turned into a toad and its only if we use a fate. Please fix the dice and Ill play again.
Well, we finally decided to buy this improved version of Talisman, and after following the rules of checking in with Asmodee and such, we end up with almost none of the purchases we bought in the older game. We had hoped the Case of the Missing Content had been solved by now. How about it? Anyone out there willing to look into this and fix this screw-up? Volnon, hereand wishing that this game was as good as the first version :(
Hitting a space where a dice rolled on it will reroll the dice, instead of going to the space on the board. This option needs to only be available on the side menu where reroll shows up, so that the dice doesnt interfere with the board spaces.
Would not recommend. Played on iPad 12.5. Looks like crap.
We didnt notice the other reviews saying they had trouble with the developer giving them credit for having bought the expansions in the previous version of this app. We were excited to download an updated version and even paid for this one (having already bought the previous version of the app and almost every expansion available on it). We noticed that none of the expansions we had purchased were synced to the new app, even though we logged in with the same account, as instructed to sync previous purchases. We emailed the developer over a week ago and have not received any response from them. This is so sad because we love playing Talisman. Too bad this developer is garbage!
So we had the old game they removed from app store said to create a account and it would teansfer our purchases to the new game guess what it did not do any of that we paid another $1.99 for this game just so we could have basically zero expansions because the game now shows we have 1 expansion and like 4 dlc characters where as our other game we can pull up shows we have all expansions and everything we sent a email we will see what happens.
We downloaded and played this years ago. Tried playing again and realized we lost all of what we paid for. We tried reaching out to support and never heard anything back. If a dev/admin sees this, please respond.
We bought about 70% of the IAP. They were gone in the updates. Restore purchases doesnt work. We dont know, we might or might not rebuy them. Horrible as it is its a very fun game. We guess we will imagine them as donation then lol. But they better not erased our IAP again in the next update!
We’ve looked into other players experiences and we can confirm something needs to change with these dice rolls. Playing a game that is up to luck of the roll isnt fun when its not actually random rolls. 8 turns in a row on the crown of command and every roll was a 1. Meanwhile all other players whether its ai or real player gets exact roll they need. We love this game but this is something that needs to change ASAP. Im happy to provide any game data we can to help devs. Thank you.

A very well done translation. The recent Harbinger expansion is fantastic! Nomad is an excellent company to deal with! We had some hiccups porting our purchases to the new version, but they helped us resolve the problem within 24 hours! We have been dealing with them for years. They have gladly responded to feedback about everything. Their passion for this project is obvious. If you like Talisman in real life, then this is worth every penny! Probably the number one app most used on our phone. If you have never played Talisman, the tutorial mode covers everything! You will be a pro player in no time! It does a great job not just explaining the game, but also covering subtle intricacies that may go unnoticed by even experienced players!
This is a fantastic port of a classic game. More to the point, with the recent update the app is fully managed by Nomad Digital and not Asmodee. The latest update caused us to lose the expansions we had purchased in-game. We sent a help ticket into Nomad Digital after their suggested recovery steps didnt work. Their website said it could take up to 48 hours for a response, but we had our expansions back before the day was over. They showed great customer service and left us very happy. Fun game, great company, a winning combination.
Developer took two weeks to respond, but the suggested solutions they provided took care of our issue. Instead of responding to these on a put out the fire basis, this is material that really should be placed on the site or a support page. With that, we’ve upped our review. Its the Talisman we know and enjoy, we dont have stability problems, and our issues have been addressed.
We have the board game and have wished we could play it more so we were excited to see a digital version but after about 7 games the amount of 1s and 2s we keep rolling in each separate game severely out numbers the amount of 4, 5s, and 6s we very very rarely roll. We get 1s and 2s about 55% of the time 3s 25% of the time 4s about 15% of the time and 5s and 6s about 5% of the time. The AI seems to have more of an even chance to roll any number. In one games full round we had to roll 5 times total and 3 of them were ones, 1 was a 2 and the last a 4. We want to play the game more but the dice rolls make us want to delete the game.
We have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and we just bought both talisman apps , and when we open the game it says download higher quality sounds and graphics and when we click on the check mark it wont do anything , its literally stuck on that page , please fix this issue so we can play this game we just paid for, thank you, when its fixed Ill give another review for 5 stars.
Our in game purchases of the dlcs have been removed. The restore purchases iron does not work. We put in a ticket on the asmodee site and get no response. Seems like a scam to me.
We used to able to play on the iOS app with our friends on switch. Recently however we are not able to find eachother’s games cross platform. Many switch players can find the same game but it does not show up on mobile. On mobile we just create a new game with the same name. Please help!!
We have bought this and every single expansion since the beginning. Lately, updates have failed to keep memory of your purchased expansions in total but will remember a couple. This may lead you to try to restore purchases rightly, and it will act like it did its job but many expansi9ns will still not load. Then, when you, as you would for other apps, click to purchase expansion, assuming that it will in fact give you the expansion because you have already purchased it, it will instead charge you for the purchase. All this is because the developers in a money grab are too lazy to let it remember your third party account as a work around. Then if you write to them, they will shirk the blame off and tell you to contact apple, who in return will say you must contact the developers. This is a load of horsecrap. Congrats fellas you just lost a VERY loyal customer with your lack of programming effort and lack of decent customer support, especially during a time of COVID when money is tight for everyone.
What happened? The latest update has made the game micro small. Nothing was wrong with it. As a customer who has bought EVERYTHING you guys have put out, this is such a heart breaker. Hope you take buyers advice and make the controls and print big, as it was.
We remember first downloading this game and loving it. But then they revised the whole app and made you download the new. When we first tried to restore all of the dlc from the old version it didnt work. We waited for updates patiently try again now. But it continually tells us update failed. So we give up we were a major supporter of this game till they destroyed there fans by making a entirely new version and forcing you to switch. Good luck on saving 1 of your greatest supports. We were probably your #1 fan till you guys screwed everything up, we recommended this game to everyone cause we were always playing it. These developers are poo and they destroyed a Mona Lisa of strategy games. We are not giving another dime to these guys. We are even more mad cause we cannot rate zero stars!!!
Excellent that the developers are diligent in adding new content, and expanding the interface. Bugs exist, but we are confident they are working them out, as their track-record seems to show they wish to further make this game a further enjoyable experience. We feel the money was well spent. Keep it up, folks.
This is a faithful rendition of an awesome game. People are crying about losing their content. We lost ours when asmodee took over and they easily got it back for us. AS THEY HAVE EVERYONE. Lol. Theres gonna be glitches on a game this big. They fix them when they become aware of them. Cant begin to explain how enjoyable this game is. The replayability is endless. With so many characters, so many endings, and all the new content… Just wow. Keep it up. We want a job making talisman expansions. Send us an application please, asmodee lol.
Very fun with friends or random, but is meant to be longer so bear that in mind.
We have contacted support three times sin Nov 2019 (now Jan 2020) because our purchases (all expansions) would not transfer to the new app, even after linking purchases to new Asmodee account, running both apps on same iPad while logged in, hitting restore purchases on both apps, etc. No response. We dont think they actually have a support team.
Read before and dont waist even a cent scam!!!!!!! The worst game app Apple should check about them because they charging money for an app that isnt complete we should all sue them for our money this is scam!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: You must tap the icon in the upper right corner and then you’ll be allowed to log in. Seems to be a bug with iOS 13.1. Game won’t connect to Game Center so you won’t be able to access your purchases. Please fix!
We just paid 3.99 for the new app and it doesnt have any of our old purchases Im hoping someone can help us figure out how to fix this issue.
Ever since Asmodee has taken over the game, we have had to go through a work around process in order to play the game with the expansions that we bought for it. Its cumbersome and has remained unfixed for a long time! We will not be buying any Asmodee games until they get this permanently fixed! That said, the game itself is fun to play.
With the latest update we are unable to trade in trophies for strength / Wisdom. We also encountered an encounter that required placing the card in a Forrest but it highlights a location in the city that cannot be selected. With the recent update the game in unplayable.
… Download Higher Quality Graphics And Sound? Every single time. Such a needlessly tedious step. And now, we also find that we are logged out of our Asmodee account as well! Do you remember your account name and password? We sure dont. So its off to our password manager to find the info AGAIN. You will also need to re-type your password because the app doesnt support pasting from the clipboard. Dont skip this step, though, because you wont have access to any of your purchases if you do. Also, dont simply go to the store and try to buy them again to restore your purchases because they will happily sell everything to you a second time if youre not careful. Dont be fooled by the fact that SOME of your purchases show-up without logging in! Are they incompetent or crooked? Who knows, but we DO know that Im never giving these guys another penny.
Not sure what they broke but the game crashes all the time now and is basically unplayable. Also they changed it to where we cant listen to our own music while playing the game.
Super buggy, cant pick cards, keep encountering the same card turn after turn in the city. Worked fine in previous version… Fix please!
Its so buggy! We keep having to close down the app and reopen it because it will either freeze or things just wont show up on the screen. Would love to be able to play an entire game through without an error.
Updated to the latest version, looks great, lots of new expansions, but also unplayable. Either the settings menu freaks out and continuously opens and closes or a computer controlled character will be thinking forever. Its a good game 4 stars + when it works, hopefully they issue a patch.
Guys – listen to us. We are a long time IT security expert. We want to play your game online with our son. Yet you force us to create an account. Ok. But then you dont accept passwords which are good enough for our bank ! Lighten up, you are a bloody game who really cares if our security is cracked or for that matter who would bother? We then tried some very complex passwords and you dont accept these either, so our ability to play online is shot. Sadly after we spent $$$$ buying all the expansions :-( Add to fact that game crashes or freezes regularly on our iPad and we have to conclude great game idea marred by poor implantation and real user testing.
We didnt like this game. We never played the Talisman board game but this one put us to sleep. About 30min of play and nothing new. Seems just random.
Seriously, start the game… It crashes. Pick cards… It crashes. Roll the die (wait for it… The suspense is killing me) – it crashes. We purchased the previous version and several expansions and never had this problem. May we suggest the developer actually hire a competent coder and bug testing team for your games? Just a suggestion.
It wont let us play no matter what as soon as we finish our first turn it keeps showing us the settings screen. We keep closing and it reappears completely unable to enjoy the game on two iOS devices one is iPad mini 4 and another is iPhone XR. Is there a way to get a refund please.
