Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

Excellent turn-based gameplay. Buy the game and play. No upgrades, gold, silver, etc. Just buy and play. This game would have cost $100's of dollars back in the day for development, materials, and distribution. Digitized, and already developed, the cost is now nearly zero. We'd like to see this company reproduce some old Avalon hill games, and offer some of their own older games like Veracruz. We'd also like to see a retro option where the counters have the NATO unit designation, instead of the little animations.

Easy to get the hang of this game, it's like a tabletop war game with miniatures, but all the rules and combat are built in, all you need to do is move your units by tapping the unit then the destination hex. Hexes you can move to are highlighted as well as enemy units in range. To fire you just tap the target unit. That's what makes it so fun, but also detailed with very different missions to accomplish with varying types of units. We love it.

Well designed for mobile play….good balance of playability and tactics.

Need to see games like this for: WWI Zulu Wars Alamo/Mexican Wars WWII Pacific Chriemea Vietnam Korea.

The title says it all! In addition, If your energy is low and you want a quick break for 10 to 15 minute, then play one of these TB Hex games as it inspires you to try and out think the other tank commander's battle group! You also have the option of playing for hours the serious of tank war games. It's great for long trips and playing in airplane mode. Bottom -line : Anyone who rarely has the luxury of free time but enjoys a quick, fun, exciting, energy boosting, mind stimulation game; then we Highly recommend you give consideration to this game ( and all the other Hex Tank Battle related Games) JD.

Folks while the game is fun, even the hard mode is simple as can be. Losing is hard! The tank battle game released prior to this one was very challenging. If you want to play a game that is easy even in the hardest mode, this game is for you. Prefer the tank battle game or Civil War 1863. At least victory is always in doubt.

New tutorials will not unlock.

These games have the right amount of challenge and fun. Graphics are great.

Love every feature of this game. No weirdness, no unexpected crashes, great balance between visual appeal and playability.

We are trying to get every game these guys have. So far they are all amazing.

Fun and takes some thinking to win. Love to play this in our spare time.

Love the Middle Eastern music It adds an authentic feel to the game. Awesome gameplay, cool tanks and vehicles And challenging scenarios. Again, an awesome game.

Really liked the game. Lots of fun. Pretty realistic for a game you can play on your phone.

A fun game with different levels of difficulty.

This game is a lot of fun, and requiring a certain amount of skill as well! We like being able to move & shoot on the same move in most cases. The strategy to win the game becomes increasingly more challenging as we progress thru the battles. If our original strategy didn't produce the desired results…revise & replay. There's always a way to beat them. Much more enjoyable than those games with in-app purchases of bags of gold, gems or whatever…where the winner is the one willing to convert the most real money into fake money. Enjoy.

Reminds us of some old the close combat PC games. Looking forward to more and larger scenarios which we think could make this an even better game. Also adding the ability to use vehicles to move artillery.

Have not run inti a Hunted Cow product that wasn't a blast.

The Hunted Cow has put out a whole bunch of top quality, very realistic software and very importantly have responded to even minor issues to constantly strive to maintain their products. KUDOS! They certainly keep up the Abelor reputation.

We loved the Lite version of this game so we decided to buy the full game. We only give it 4 stars because the campaigns in the full version are WAY to easy. We dont know why they dont present the challenge that the Lite version did, but we find ourselves flying through these campaigns. Could it be because they want you to finish them quickly and buy their additional in-app campaigns? We dont know, but it is a bit disappointing. We love the extra units and game play, but im also seeing the maps are much smaller. Mixed feelings over-all, but still happy with the purchase.

We like all the Tank Battle games in the series. We like this one the best. Each new campaign is a little expensive at $1.99 for eight maps, but it's still very fun.

After playing lite we purchased it because it is a great game.

The game is a good classic wargame, like a good old Steel Panthers on PC, but the price is a nightmare.

We enjoy all the Hunted Cow games. This is a nice addition to the franchise. Our preference is the Civil War series but we've already beaten each of those on the Hard level.

Every offering by these guys is virtually identical- from Hannibal to Kursk. Exact same mechanics and even after you've purchased the overpriced full version, you're still shilling out $12 additional just to access the bloody content. And whomever advised otherwise was pulling your leg. It takes an overwhelming delusional streak to believe there's $20+ worth of content in any of these already overpriced packages. You people are so clearly only in this to gull the suckers we're ashamed to have purchased as many of your products as we did with our new iPod. Can't return them for anything worth what you're scamming the public for but we can warn off your future marks: the free lite versions are as good or compelling as any of this shallow, minimally dynamic system gets and you needn't pay these crooks a dime with the expectation that doing so will enhance your experience. It won't. Ten bucks for the ersatz FULL version only to find you have to pay another $14 to get the actual campaigns to us is crooked, deceitful and in the worst conceivable faith So insulting to your customers you should be ASHAMED dev.

An excellent classic-style wargame with the added bonus of true fog of war and a nice handling of move-and-shoot as well as mounted / dismounted infantry. Really love this game.

AI opponent always has better firepower . When playing the same type of tank , vehicle, or gun in two scenarios , like the Panzer IV , when Human controls the firepower is not as powerful as when AI opponent controls it. The pieces are well designed though and will still play it, but not for the easily frustrated.

Good small scale, tactical war game. Hunted Cow hits more than misses with this format. Unit capability pretty fair representation. All around well done. Would be great if maps could be a little bigger and scenarios a little more complex.

Great game with smooth graphics and excellent strategy! Worth more than the low app price.

This is the best turn-based strategy war game on the iPad, and possibly on any computer platform. Love it.

It's very fun. We love to play it while driving places. Very fun.

We really enjoyed t-b 1944 and got this North Africa version. The campaigns that come with it are fine and fun to play. But we then purchased the first additional campaign and it is impossible. The Allied AI is far superior to the Axis ability and even standard level is impossibly strong and overwhelming. Either tone down the setting for the AI or we will not be wasting our money on further in-app campaign purchases.

We played through TB1944 with great enjoyment and NA offers more terrain features, lots of new units and the tactical feature flanking bonus. This makes it useful to get behind the enemy unit and crowd it, to get full leverage from the units. It's also very satisfying to attack a target from behind, see it spin, as in surprise, then attack it from the front and see it spin again, knowing we got an attack bonus. Also, many units can move then shoot. Finally, some infantry can mount into trucks and thus move a lot faster to get to the front, another good feature. All in all, highly recommended! We've played through all the campaigns and we're currently on our second in-game purchase campaign. We feel, now with a little more experience playing the game, that it's a little easier than TB1944. In that game, one or two missions seemed near impossible. In North Africa, we feel they got the balance just right meaning it's a ton of fun to be challenged early in the mission and then feel the tide turning slowly until the enemy is completely eradicated. A few missions we had to play through a couple of times to win and to us, that's the right balance. We always play on "hard" so that is where all our experience is from.

Overall, it is a pretty fun game to play. Some of the levels are impossible to get three stars when on the "hard" setting, but that does not detract from the general enjoyment. Would be nice if the makers came out with some more different types of games other than a WWII tank setting like a naval game.

Look we're not a big gamer and the movement toward 1st person shooters holds little interest for us, but strategic games, learning unit strengths and capacities, we always enjoyed that. Still do, and when we discovered this game Tank Battle North Africa we are hooked. Of course we are a lame player and have only managed to beat the computer at 'casual' but have started to win at the mid-level. Very good fun.

If you are interested in wargaming on a casual level — which doesn't rely on extensive bookkeeping and multi-phase turns — then this app is a solid value. For WWII-themed, squad-level tactical gameplay, this is as good as it gets on iPhone.

Tank Battles North Africa is one of the best if not the best tank tactical games for the iPad. It provides a full array of units such as infantry, bazookas, artillery, a variety of light armor and of course a variety of Tanks! And the graphics are wonderful! Game play is simple yet offers you a rich variety of options to execute your plans and the AI is also a challenging opponent. If you enjoyed Tank Battles 1944, you enjoy North Africa even more with the improved game mechanics. The biggest improvement is the ability to move and shoot. And if you have played 1944. Keep in mind that vegetation in North Africa provides no defensive value. Game designers felt desert vegetation was not dense enough to provide protection. Some units still need to be tweaked. Especially when vehicles and light tanks attack bunkers. Damage by these vehicles is unrealistic ally light which can be frustrating, unless you are at point blank range. Over use of Panzer 1 and Tiger tanks. However, these are minor annoyances. Over all Tank Battles is an excellent game. Those who enjoy WWII history will find units to be for the most part to historically accurate in appearances of the time and in combat abilities. But for those who don't know much about WWII will still find this an enjoyable and challenging tactical tank game. Tank Battles North Africa is worthy of its 5 star rating.

The reason we like it is because its wwii and it has cool old wwii tank men and vehicle and most of all we love strategy.

Love this game. The tactics are better in this one than the 1944 one because you can move and then fire. There probably should be more penalty for that though. The ability to target the weaker flanks and rear armor is what really sets this one apart.

Easy to learn to play. Not too hard and not too easy to master as you go further into the missions.

Just enough of everything minimal & good.

So we are delighted. So much pleasure afforded. We look forward to long and happy association . Thank you.

Hey good game. Some scenarios super easy even on high difficulty. Others take quite a few tries to master. Big issue on first scenario of allied storm. Once you complete the objectives the scenario does not end. Ran it out to 100 plus turns search the whole map for Germans and it still does not end. Fix this as we've wasted the dollar for a package we can't play but one scenario.

This is a nice little game app that has afforded opportunities for us to feed us gaming passions when we cannot get time to get in some actual live game time with our various miniatures or board games. The Casual setting is pretty mellow, and the Standard has times when it's a challenge to finish a game, but not impossible. Haven't tried the higher level setting yet. We will note that, boy Howdie, the Germans have a serious fixation on targeting US GMC halftracks! Mancan't keep those things alive for anything. :-D On the flip side, Tigers are not nearly as indestructible as they were in Real Life. Tough buggers, and pack a punch, but a Sherman or two can take them out (eventually). We would like to have had the options of being able to play the other side of the battles, playing the Deutsches Afrika Korps or the 10th Panzer Division. Or even the Italians (hey, they WERE there, just didn't always have the support the Germans enjoyed – such as that was). Butseems not to be an option. Unless it's one of the 'In-App Purchases', which we cannot do through our phone due to work-related restrictions. Would be nice if we could get them through iTunes instead. :-/.

Great game, simple gameplay but enough strategy to be interesting. Bought all their games since we got this one.

We have eliminated all German units and supply depots. Army is intact and yet on turn 60 game still refuses to let us win and move to next scenario.

This is a great game. Very enjoyable. We need more levels. More battles.

Really enjoy the game. We happen to like 2D games. Sometimes there are a few small issues with some of the campaigns, ie….reinforcements given that never show up, other small little things…no matter, still a great game. We purchase every one of these that you guys put out. How about Kursk? This would be a great idea for tank guys. Or, Kuwait, or Sinai 1973?. These are all excellent examples of armor changing the outcome of a struggle against two foes. Please make more…….we will buy them all.

This and tank battle are a great start, looks like someone just might port panzer/allied general! Go ahead.. We double dog dare ya.

Which it reliably does often, we have restarted 3 times due to enemy units getting stuck in an endless loop. At least watching the 'headless Stuka' circle over and over was kind of distracting.

Great game! We remember a board game company, Avalon Hill. It used hexes too. The only thing that we would suggest is to place ratings like offense and defensive strengths of any unit, then you would know how to deploy the units.
