The Bug Butcher is an intense action shooter, wrapped in stylistic 2D art, and smeared with humor where timing and fierce reflexes are paramount!
The gameplay has an extremely simple core mechanic that is easy to understand, but hard to master. Plus, who doesn’t love a universe where you wield a beefy arsenal of military grade weaponry.
The core mechanics hold old ties from the classic arcade shooter “Super Pang” where you shoot vertically, but with modern day twists. You are Harry, a brash and tenacious exterminator who has a knack for decimating bugs.
Harry’s current assignment takes him to the infested futuristic research facility on planet Zoit. The surviving and dwindling number of scientists employed him for his slaughtering skills. Harry’s mission: survive until the decontamination of the building is complete, hoard coins like his life depended on it, and protect the scientists at all costs. Watch out for the spiders as they have a particular fondness for rubber encased scientists. After landing, you will move from room to room through the facility blasting rockets, lasers, and wielding the power of lighting upwards at anything not human.

Its how arcade shooters should be made. Well worth it.
We watched the preview :) and its getting crazier and crazier every level!!! Now Im on the fifth level and theres always a blue big bug smashing us! * and that stupid bug keep getting out babies!!!* and that gun is a very crazy invader , also all kinds of bug kill us! This game is a very good game and we hate the Bugs!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!¡ this game is too challenging And the whole room is full of bugs!!
Sometimes when pressing the special attack it doesn’t register causing the button to highlight but not do anything. Also maybe making the fire button a little bigger and getting a joystick would super helpful. We love this game and would highly appreciate a few updates.
Players, This is a lot of fun! The Alien creatures just keep getting more weird and difficult. Totally worth your time to try out! We love it.
Does not support mfi controllers despite the claims and the onscreen controls are garbage. We would like a refund if we cant use our controller. Edit: apparently we just needed to restart our phone and everything worked just fine! Really excellent game that reminds our a bit of Cuphead.
The movement arrows located too close to each other. Due to this problem, the gaming process became awful and irritable.
This is a very fun game with great animation and graphics. It is incredibly challenging, yet very fun and addicting. Love the progression system of upgrading weapons and abilities. Load times can be a little long on some devices, but overall we highly recommend this game!
There is a bug where the arrows dont appear in the start but we do like the look of the art.
Unique yet oddly familiar, this game provides a difficult and satisfying gameplay. While there may not be many levels, the price tag is surely justified in the quality of what they have provided thus far.

Sometimes the buttons wont work, makes us mad as well you know. Having a good run combo is high and then we cant shoot.
We were so excited to see this game got an update and fixes, but immediately disappointed to see that it’s still broken. The arrow keys won’t show up in the beginning of the game, making it impossible for us to even play.
Just bought the app. We can’t get past the tutorial, arrows for movement don’t appear. They appeared once in 10+ times we’ve closed and reopened the app, but can’t get them to show up anymore. Suggestions?

Really well done game, plenty of quality content (art and sound) for all ages. Power Ups & Character Upgrades Galore!!!!!! Excellent addicting music and levels for hours of destruction. Learn in seconds and on the fly as the levels build on each other and bugs accumulate. Not just another cheesy mobile game… Action packed fun with quality artwork and levels for days.

The only complaint we had was that we couldn’t upgrade due to our coins never being saved but the bug was fixed and excellent game!
This is pretty much the only game we play on our phone now. It’s the perfect mixture of challenging and fun.

First off if you like arcade games and simple controls "like arcade machines" the have at it! Music graphics and gameplay are a fabulous mix leaving you with more to come when your done. As of now 99cents isn’t a steal it’s a bank robbery! Note: if your having crashes it’s most likely you don’t have enough ram or a old device.
We’ve been playing iOS games since the very first iPhone.. We’ve played through all the og iOS games, from the most popular titles to some less successful, yet great titles. We were even majorly addicted to WeCity at one point. Our issue with iOS games has always been that they eventually get boring. That is not the case with this game. We’ve always loved retro 2d side scrollers and The Bug Butcher has that feel. With a super smooth engine, great music, beautiful artwork, and extremely addictive gameplay.. This will be a game that will forever stay installed on our iPhone. A must buy!
This game is extremely fun and highly addictive. We love the art style and sense of humor. It reminds us of Metroid meets Galaga and gets a modern face lift. We’re hoping we see additional content for this game.
This app is a wonderful innovation of the top-down shooter games of old – the addition of smooth gameplay, suave mechanics, colorful power ups and weapons makes the formula shine here. A very fun and fair balance of challenge and gratification, we might add! Getting full marks on a level never felt as hard, or rewarding! There are some small performance issues that you may face if you’re using an older smartphone model, but even these little blurbs don’t dent the game – both Arcade and Panic mode are both fresh and enticing (Panic is the way to go though!) Definitely excited for the developers next move.
Reminds us of many arcade classic games we played growing up. Lots of great upgrades and things to keep you going like Jetpack joy ride. This game has quality art,music,and controls. Very very happy we bought this.

Bugs in the game caused us to lose all our progress from the first world/area. We played it all over again and didn’t have the same issue. The achievements you attain don’t always get recognized by Game Center which is frustrating, but for the $1 we spent, this is a real delight to play.

We absolutely love this game! The art and music is ridiculously awesome. We need this soundtrack in our life! The humor in this game is so great too. The game mechanics are simple to learn, but hard to master. The controls feels solid and responsive which is crucial because you need fast responses. We love the variety of weapons & power ups. They make it feel so satisfying to tear into a horde of adorably gross bugs. We’re a full on addict at this point. We try to put our phone down and a minute later we’re already chasing another bug. We can’t wait to see more from these guys. The level of polish is seriously impressive. We highly recommend this game.
We’ve been a fan of this game on Steam for a while now, and we’ve been foaming at the mouth waiting for a mobile release… And it’s here! From the art design to the frantic pacing, The Bug Butcher offers everything we look for in a high score chasing action game. Can’t wait for more releases from these guys.

This game is a blast. Super simple, but addictive and fast paced at the same time. Definitely worth $.99. One thing we would love to see change is control options. The left/right buttons are too close to the edge of the screen IMO. If you want to go left, you have very little screen area to hit for that command. Having the option to move the buttons slightly (similar to SF4 volt for iOS) would solve this entirely. Please?
