Community Insight:
We had an absolute blast playing Lost Heir 1! Rich, fun, intricate and replayable story arcs make this one of our most enjoyable text based games Ive played, in recent years! The relationship system is fantastic! We hope it leads to having a lover and not just a friend, because this game gives us hope that more mature themes can be played in deeper role playing games, such as this one. Loads of potential with the process of building friendships and relationships with many of the diverse characters! You can choose many hundreds of paths, each with different outcomes depending on your decision making! Some of the things that might be difficult for new RPG players is the item, money and relationship system. It requires a lot of practice and trial and error! Youll fail a lot, at first! Secondly, the demon summoning seems very weak! It could have been an entire game in itself, if realized for that principal. It was that promising! We thought the demon relationships seemed quite sick! We would have loved engaging in demon battles with guards, bosses and monsters, out in the world! The Relationship system, the jewel of this game, is very well constructed and feels quite complex! Which is quite good! Combat needs a little more work, as hp and damage isnt well represented later on. The strengths of this game are rested more with its story and relationship system! The inventory system is quite fantastic! Clean, robust and neat! Bravo! The accessibility is superb! Ive played the entire game on Youtube! Our channel GAME Double Tap! Has the full play through! Check it out, if you want! Awesome game and we look forward to more advancements, stories and game play elements! Keep it cheeky and fun! Thank you.
Great game but sometimes hard to maximize results. The implications for many decisions are not always obvious even when studying the scenario. Overall awesome.
Most excellent… Absolutely brilliant.
This is an outstanding game. Ive been playing since before 2 or 3 were even released and we love it. Our only complaint is that for some reason it wont let us purchase the legacy advantage. So, if we can get some help figuring that out, we would be overjoyed.
To be 100% honest we dont really write reviews but we saw the Most recent review of this and actually upset us. This game is very good there is a lot of depth to it Ive probably played through at least 30 to 40 times and we would say 26 of those times had something that we had never seen before or didnt even realize was a possibility. Theres a lot a unique choices every single time that we played through why we couldnt do something we went back on our next place he would try to figure out what we had to do to be able to do that. We recommended this to all of our friends who play dnd and have heard nothing but good things from them too. Outstanding job.
When we bought this when it came out we thought we would read it once and Id be done with it. We were wrong. We read this book and the whole trilogy dozens of times and we love this series. The one problem is that when we try to buy the legacy advantage it says the purchase failed. Otherwise, amazing game and great read worth taking time out of your day for! (If you can contact us about the legacy advantage we would appreciate it!).
We love the game, we keep playing it over and over with different scenarios, only problem is that we cant buy the legacy upgrade, yet we can buy all the other upgrades on other games like this.
UPDATING this review. A much of people have complained about not being able to upgrade the game to unlock they legacy advantage. We havent been able to all day, always pops up with an error. But we found the solution!! You can not purchase the legacy bonus on the standalone version of this game. You have to go to the lost heir in the Hosted Games app. Purchasing the upgrade through that app works perfectly. Hope it helps! So. We play a disgusting amount of choose your own adventure / RPGs, Ive tried nearly every one on the App Store barring the ones in phone messages format, just not a fan of those. And out of all of the ones Ive played The Lost Heir is by far one of our favorites, if not THE favorite. We absolutely love the character development for our character and the companions, we love the wide variety of outcomes dependent on our decisions. We especially love all the alteration you can make so far as classes and even subclasses do. So when you beat the game you can make different choices, or make similar choices with a different class or sub class and it makes it all feel new again. If you want to play a beautifully thought out and immersive game that gets you to genuinely care for all of the characters involved, look no further! You found it in The Lost Heir. The only issue we are having right now in which Id like to bring to the attention of the developers is that we are having difficulty purchasing the legacy upgrade. It claims it might be an issue connecting to the internet, but everything else is working fine and connected. Reinstalling the app currently to see if it fixes it. But in general a big thank you to the developers for making such an elating game! We are a huge fan! Please continue to make stories similar to this.
We like this game and we felt like buying the Legacy Advantage because of the description, but every time we try to purchase it we are unable to make the purchase. We would like to get it because of how much we like this game and the two other games after. Please help this situation if it is on your part. Thank you.
It would be nice to be able to go back a page, if a mistake was made or wrong choice was picked, instead of having to start over again. Please consider for future update if possible.
This game is pretty rough on the unprepared player; a blind playthrough will likely lose characters the first time through. Our advice to early players is to choose Sir Grady as a mentor and become a Squire, which gives you good skills and a few freebies from time to time. Magic is tempting, but being a pure magician will bite you HARD in The Lost Heir 3, where physical attributes ARE needed not to die. P.S. The Legacy Advantage only can be bought through the Hosted Games app. It makes it significantly easier to hit the skill checks, but the added story only appears in The Lost Heir 1 (so far).
We would like to get the new upgrade but it just wont let us other that that pretty good game.
This is the first review Ive ever written for a game out of our 9 years of gaming experience which emphasizes just how much this game disappointed us. This game is overrated. How did this game get a 4.8 rating? Ive played 12 games by Hosted Games and the price to length ratio of this one is not worth it. We made it through the game in about 3 or 4 hours and Im not the fastest reader. Ive played through the game 3 times and Ive been disappointed every time. We dont know if Im playing it wrong or something but bad things always happen and our character always loses in battle. Each time we played through we used a different class and went about things a different way correlating to our characters class but we keep getting the same results. Also the stat system is terrible. You have to have very high stats in a certain area just to pass a simple check. We tried to be a spell sword in our first play through but learned that you can really only focus on one class. Also the reviews of the third game are bad meaning you wont get a satisfying end to this series. If youre looking for a game to get skip this one and get the Samurai of Hyuga series. That series is our favorite out of all the games Ive played by Hosted Games.
We have all three and end up coming to play them all every few months. Im still figuring out classes and it can be repetitive but still fun overall.
Make sure to carve out plenty of time if you intend to play this game. Its magical, brilliant, and just awesome. Youll constantly be thinking about it if youre away from it and the story will leave you in amazement. One of the best games Ive ever played.
This is the jewel of the choice games! AMAZING STORY LINE!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEASE DONT STOP.
On the Kindle version, there is an optional Legacy Adventure you can purchase for bonuses like stat boosts. Will that ever come to the Apple version.
Ive kept up with the CoG and Hosted Games interactive novels for years, and this trilogy is our favorite by far. Just so you know, we never give five stars. Generally Im a bit of a harsh critic of the novels they release, and we have absolutely no complaints. We only wish that the author would release more stories in the context of this world. (Life of a Wizard actually is. Which is enjoyable as well.) The replay value of the three novels is the best Ive seen yet (Ive played through it a million times), your choices ACTUALLY affect the story and have real consequences, and there isnt a single moment in the story that we feel bored or as if Im zoning out. Going through all of the different choices and options is fun and interesting, and choices you make right from this first novel affect the story in the third one – its crazy how intricate it is. In addition, the story isnt predictable in the least, the characters are really well-developed, the world the writer created is unique, and it left us thinking about it for a solid week after we finished. The romance options are all well-written, which we will rarely say about any game (we honestly wish we could date Gill IRL), and the writing itself is excellent. Very few grammatical errors, and the author does a great job drawing in his readers. Not only is the story a joy to read, but its also a fun challenge as a game. It can be a bit difficult at times to get your stats high enough for certain things, but IMO it makes the game so much better when you can experiment with all the different stat combinations. Please buy this game. If you enjoy fantasy and adventure, you will love it.
This game is so amazing with the way it just immersed us into the world. The story line is great and choices matter like a lot. Only thing that we wish was a this is an option to enable a feature that would go back one page just so that if you wanna experiment with an option then you can do it easier than how we did it… (we basically replayed The story more times than we can count in order to find out oh what would happen if we selected this option.
This game was a good time, plain and simple. We enjoyed playing it the 100th time as much as we did the first. We hope there are more games like this and the rest of the series that come out because we will gladly buy them and support them as we did this series! Also noticed a glitch where 45 endurance skill check doesn't work in the dark temple on the way to vernex, so we can't get the cloak :(.
This story has entertained us for hours and hours on end and has sooooo much replay value! Great storyline, well done characters, and your choices really do matter.
We love this so much like we can't count the number of nights we've lost sleep playing this! It's well written, has an interesting plot with twists and turns, and is made really in depth. Once we finished the first game we had to move on to the 2nd, then the 3rd, and then repeat the trilogy all over again! This game has a lot of replay value. You can choose to train your hero however you want whether you want to focus on magic, archery, blades, religion, geography, it's all up to you! And there's so many classes that you can become by the end of the game, our mind is blown by diversity of options available. We 100% recommend this trilogy to anyone who thinks they might be interested because this game WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.
Truly a masterpiece, definitely our favorite Choice of Games game we've played. We've played around 10 playthroughs and experienced some vastly different adventures, but still only seen a fraction of what the game has to offer. Characters are well written and story is interesting, the author creates a wondrous world that rarely falters. We highly recommend this game and it's sequels.
We withdraw our original criticisms, the game has updated significantly and the addition of LH2 and LH3 (which took far took too long to come out) tie the interactive experience masterfully. This game trilogy as it is now has brought us weeks of entertainment and is a Choice of Games gem, showing the full potential of the COG genre.
We couldn't tell you how many times we've replayed this game. It's amazing, can't wait for the second and third installments.
Any app that encourages imagination and basic role playing has our approval. Writing is simple but the characters are compelling, and making your own character a knight or mage or whatever else is immensely satisfying. A must read for fantasy fans.
What a phenomenal series! We loved every minute it. The characters had great depth and backstories, the dialogue flowed smoothly, and the options were well thought out. The amount of different classes and secrets you can find created a TON of replay value we had seven different characters with different experiences each time. Very well done.
The depth you can achieve With your character is nothing short of fantastic. We've played many games like this for many years and this one really take the cake. We've played it probably 12 times and it's still intriguing.
We have spent many hours playing this game. We enjoy how the story changes with different professions. It is a good balance of character development, action, and romance. Hats off to this writer for a fantastic story. Can't wait for the final part.
Two Words… Amazing Game. We just wish it was longer and we cant wait for the third one.
They really did there homework on this. The role playing is phenomenal in a depth you can only touch in an interactive novel. The writing is pretty good, there is an over abundance of replay value and there are always lots of ways to play. It is extremely well done how all of the stats are given to just barely prevent you from doing what you want to do causing you to reevaluate your character and rebuild him/her perfectly. Personally we would have liked to go on a few more random adventures before we went on the main quest line. We think Petra's story was pretty short we just visited the town threw holy water on the vampire and that was all she wrote. Characterization could have been a little bit better with some of the other people but the game is majorly about characterizing yourself anyways. It is like a puzzle trying to create the best hero possible. We believe thieves and rangers are best equipped for this considering how important gold/agility/devices are for getting the magical items. But other ways of playing such as mages do receive good perks as well.
We can say with reasonable certainty and overwhelming disappointment in ourselves that we have every decision you make and the effects of the decisions (+whatever charm) memorized to the point where we can and have created optimized versions of every one of the dozens of possible character combinations. Our personal favorite is the spellsword. This game is really addicting, and, though the end results change barely or not at all, the paths feel so unique and refreshing that we can say with confidence, we have found our favorite HG/CoG game. This having played all of them.
This story makes us imagine the whole thing in our head as if it was an Academy Awarded Nominee movie of the year. The story is great and Both of these games are awesome. Please a son as possible make sequels even after the main character builds his former kingdom back together; stories of his kingdom and their struggles of running one.
This game is great fun with meaningful characters, lots of choice, and an excellent story. This game is honestly the first interactive story we have played with enough depth and variety that makes going back and playing as a different character fun and builds on the experience. We have to say that this game shines brighter than others like it in all areas. This is especially true of the romances where you can choose not only who you romance, but also how to develop the relationship which for the first time made us feel that our character was actually us. We strongly recommend this game and eagerly await the sequel. LONG LIVE THE ONE TRUE HEIR! LONG LIVE THE KING.
Why can't we rate higher ;( But seriously this is one of the greatest games we have played. Our first reaction "Another $h!t medieval RPGs app… Oh look it's this group of devs… Might be good." And we're very disappointed they don't have he next part yet. It's one of the greatest apps you will find, ever.
One of the greatest text-based novels we've read! We were so immersed in the story it left us beggin' for more! Can't wait for the other two installments to it.
We love this game, but when will part 2 come out? We were enjoying the amazing story.
This game's story is riveting, it's characters are well done, and you'd be hard pressed to find more replay ability anywhere. With the sequel on the way, this is one Hosted Game you don't want to miss.
We've played a good portion of all the interactive novels that Choice of Games and Hosted Games have out right now, and The Lost Heir: The Fall of Daria is our personal favorite out of all. It's story is compelling and there is a lot of stat development for your character, similar to how a fantasy adventurer would grow through multiple trials and tribulations. The NPC interactions are also top-notch. This is the only interactive novel in which we've waited for the sequel since the original release. It's been about a year now since we got this game and the sequel is almost done. Needless to say, we hope to be one of the first to purchase part 2.
We are hoping certain plot frustrations will be resolved in the sequels (which hopefully won't take too long to be released!!!) The writing is fantastic, the story progression is great, and the character development is spot on :) please give us the sequel quickly.
This story is beautifully written and has a wide cast of characters we can not get enough of!!! Ive played this game at least 20 times we swear we just love seeing all the paths you can take in this game( and romance options ) CANT WAIT FOR PART 2.
This game was awesome! It had a great storyline and a lot of different choices. We can't wait for The Lost Heir: 2 forging a kingdom and The Lost Heir: 3 the demon war.
One of the best Choice of Games we have ever played. Can't wait for the sequel.
This was a lot of fun to play. You will go through a few play throughs to get the ending you want just be sure to read carefully.
Incredible story, very well written and a pleasure to read. It is a bit short however the choices are numerous. It also has one of the best romance options in any COG game we have seen. We hope the sequel comes soon.
We have spent countless hours on this game, taking all the different paths and enjoying each accomplishment.
This is hands down one of our favorite choice games of all time, across Hosted and CoG combined. The characters and the plot are intriguing and memorable. It also presents a real challenge in some areas, and it's such fun to figure our way through things.
As you'd expect from this author, the reader is given tons of interesting stats and abilities to use. Lots of options for replays by building different characters and interacting with the NPCs in various ways.
We've always loved these types of games but this one is by far our favorite.
The excellent wordplay and sense of intrigue guides this excellent story with so much choice and opportunity to explore. We've replayed it multiple times to get a multitude of results and we're waiting for the sequel as we're typing this.
