The Silent Age is a Puzzle/Entertainment/Adventure game from House on Fire ApS, first launched in 6th December 2012.
It’s rated 12+ and currently has 3,217+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes The Silent Age Stand Out

Episode Two now available, the final chapter in this award winning adventure.

The Silent Age takes you on an adventurous journey into a dystopian future where mankind has gone extinct!

Travel through time between the iconic 70's and a desolate present day haunted by silence.

The Silent Age is an atmospheric point-and-click adventure game with stylized visuals and an eerie soundtrack that will keep you in suspense as you solve mind-bending puzzles.

With an interface specifically designed for touch devices, you'll flow through the story without hiccups and frustrations. Sit back, plug in your headphones, and enjoy the adventure.

Background Story ————————————————-

It’s 1972. Love is free. Flipflops, English leather and bandanas are the height of fashion. Meanwhile the Cold War is more than lukewarm and a real one is going on overseas. Movements are happening. Environmentalists, the female liberties movement, and on the dance floors an entirely different kind of movement is overtaking the underground clubs. The winds of change are certainly blowing over the country.

Somewhere in the big city, in a tall, faceless government building someone left a window open. All the winds of change are doing here is blowing leaves all over Joe’s newly-swept floor. He’s been there for two years now. Working a dead-end attendant job making sure the building is as spotless as the suits walking the halls. It’s been like this for years, going from one soul-devouring job to the next.

Our protagonist is Joe in more than just name. He is quite literally Joe Average. Average height, average weight, average IQ. In fact, the only thing remotely remarkable about him is exactly how much he conforms to the median of the hypothetical everyman, and up until this point, Joe’s life hasn't exactly been biography material.

This is all about to change…

Community Insight:

This is the kind of game youll think of time to time after playing and wish you could go back to the first time you ever did play it.

We played this game many many years ago, on Android as well. We just finally got to getting the last few achievements that we couldnt figure in our regular run with the help of a guide online. This game has a special place, thank you developer.

Beautiful game and enticing story.

Even the free demo is a lot of fun… Might have to buy the full version.

This game makes you feel eerie in the best type of way. With an amazing story, this is the 5th time in almost 10 years that we have come back to play it.

Considering this is our first ever review on anything the game is so worth it . We immediately finished the game within one day . Ive played alot of games in our life from gameboy , ps , ds , switch , console , pc , phone . This has to be one of our favorite games ive ever played . Ive always been a sucker for a game with a good story line . The immersion we have with this game is scary . We took a nap after episode one and we had a dream we were in the game trying to get to archon . Ive woken up and bought episode two and cannot believe how good it is . Ive played and completed this story multiple times before since it came out . And every single time we love it even more . This is a game with artistic value , a great story , and love the era they chose for it to be in . The music the eerie feeling you get when you go to the future . Buying episode two is so worth the money . Youll find yourself coming back to play it again . We promise if youre like why pay for ep 2 its so worth it . We think the idea of not paying for ep 1 is so good to get people hooked then your pay for the value in the whole game for ep 2 . Yes some people are going to complain about it but at how much work they put into this game they deserve to get paid for it . Because this is a game im now going to make our husband play and our sister . Thank you creators for caring about what makes a story game in a style like this so enjoyable . Everything felt so important to do it felt like we were in real life trying to save humanity . Anyways buy that episode two you wont regret it.

This game genuinely is worth getting. Dont listen to the haters! When we finished episode 1 we immediately wanted episode 2, and let us tell you it was so worth it. After finishing this game again we find it so cool just the concept of the time travel and how it all started. And a memorizing ending. Get this game.

We find ourselves coming back to play this game at least once a month. It is such a comforting game and the atmosphere that it holds is like no other. Its like cozying up with your favorite book that never gets old. We really wish there was more games by the developer that was like this, it would have so much potential. The other half of the game is definitely worth buying and the ending is such an experience. 11/10 recommend. It will always have a place in our heart.

Beautiful atmospheric graphics, great story, great soundtrack. Awesome attention to detail like joe calling the female doctor a nurse.

This game is just a great game, we stop then think about it every other year and download it again.

Ive played a lot of "creepy" point-and-click games lately, but usually the gore or spooky elements just feel tacked on for shock value, which tends to wear off quickly. The Silent Age is genuinely disquieting. Thats thanks to excellent pacing in the storytelling, the eerie minimalist score, and the emotive voice acting. The graphics are simple enough that you can see everything (and easily navigate the world) on mobile, but theyre beautifully rendered, with impressive naturalistic touches, such as the way the main character runs a hand through his hair when the player is idle. The puzzles are really fun, but rather than speeding through the cutscenes to get to the next puzzle, we were actually invested in the story. The second chapter was worth every penny. We hope more mobile games start following this pricing structure: get people hooked with a free intro, have them pay for the rest, and keep it ad-free. All in all, a perfect game.

This game is beautiful, the story is deep, and the graphics are awesome. Definitely worth buying the second part.

This is a really good puzzle game just please add more chapters.

We love the story line and the puzzles in the game. We would definitely play a similar game by the developers if they decided to make one.

This game really drew us in. Good puzzles that take some thought but only a few where the solution doesnt connect. We hope they do another.

Just an absolutely incredible game all around we very much enjoyed playing.

We absolutely love this style of game. It had a lot of great brain teasers. We would love more series.

An old game that always will impress us, a hard and captivating game. Definitely would play another game by these developers if they made this.

We played this game years ago and it is one we consistently remember fondly and recommend to others It is a very entertaining story.

Hands down best mobile interactive story meets puzzle game ever. We wish you would make more.

This game is good and it has a good story line and voice acting we recommend this game.

This game is actually so cool because of how it incorporates the past, present, and future. We also love the voice narration because we ligit share the same thought as Joe. And the sarcasm is key . Please continue to make more games like this one because it was amazing! Thank you.

Havent played in years, art style ahead of its time. Played part 1 years ago just finished part 2 and it took a run we wasnt expecting.

We never figured out to work the sound, but that didn't prevent us from thoroughly enjoying the game! Playing an episode a night as a wind down routine was super satisfying. In the first episode we got stuck quite a few times because you often didn't know which objects were interactive and which weren't. But once we got hang of the play mechanics, we learned to enjoy Joe's snarky and simple voice. He's not exactly a character you grow to love- he feels like your introverted uncle you see at family gatherings. It was a fun week playing the first and second episodes.

Just saw that it was released years ago. This game was amazing! We loved it! We really wished it was even longer! Lol. Ive never bought a mobile game before but this one was interesting. Amazing work!! Really hope they made more like this game.

We played and finished this game a while back. Its still one of the best games we have ever played! Make a sequel please.

First off, we were a huge fan of Myst and Riven. Interactive puzzles that require attention without jarring immediacy. So finding The Silent Age was solid for us. We enjoy the colorful settings and the not-so-obvious clues. The other fun is attempting to do things we know we shouldnt just to see the responses. TSA is not a long game. It is easy to set down and pick up later. And thats what we do. Without being too intense we actually managed to finish chapter 2 in about 3 hours leisurely making our way through it. In about 2 months we will likely play part one again. Games like this take a good amount of world building and planning, and we know the devs dont ask for much in return. Though we do hope to find a similar game to play soon.

What an amazing game. We played this game every night with our 7 and 4 year old kids in bed just before bedtime and we all had a blast. Simple yet interesting and keeps you hooked. Absolutely worth the price we paid for it.

At first, we were reluctant to buy the second episode, but that completely passed our expectations! Everything from the backgrounds, to the music, to the story line was all perfect! Thank you for a great game.

This is the first adventure mobile game Ive played all the way through that has held our interest. We really loved it and am forcing all our friends to play it too.

We played this game many years ago and it has lived in our memory ever since. We just replayed it and it still holds up. It is definitely worth the money. The art is beautiful and the story is haunting.

We bought the rest of the game, which was only around $4.99 we believe. Some people say its not worth the money, but we were so sucked into the game that we have no regrets. The story is amazing and unique, and the dialogue is great, too. Some of the things the main character, Joe, says made us laugh a little because he basically called us stupid for doing the wrong thing. We love the art style, music, and the fact that it isn't too difficult and not too easy. We were a little disappointed when it ended though, it felt kind of rushed. We hope there will be some kind of sequel or a similar game after this, it was truly great :).

We really loved the first episode that we were able to play free. We considered buying the rest of it but we just cant let ourselves pay several dollars for a game Im going to delete after we finish. Aside from the price we really loved it the concept and story.

Best puzzle game on iPhone that isnt some stupid crap and works.

This is a very good game in our opinion. We finished the demo game in Maybe less that 2 weeks. We stoped playing when we had to buy the full game but its still a very good game. You should really download it. It is the best mobile puzzle game.

We like point and click horror puzzles and such but its hard finding ones as good as forgotten hill or that paper bride company but this is amazing we loved it and we want to buy the second part.

Its been a great game since it came out but sadly there isnt anymore updates. So we would all love if you added a part 3 to the story. Maybe where frank is the one who gives you the virus or is the one who discovers it and doesnt tell you or a part where Joe meets the past him.

Enjoyed this game thoroughly. We thank the creators for not going with silly kiddie fluff or "dumbing down" their creation. The design and story are simple but sophisticated; the soundtrack so eerie it gave us goosebumps and, best of all, it required us to think. Yay! This was one of those rare occasions when we're happy we spent the money and paid for the app – it was worth it. We're now going to see if these guys have any more games. *** So, five(?) years later and we just played it again. It's still an edgy, erie experience. Silent age is both art and entertainment. The simplicity of graphics and music make it timeless.

We got this game back when we were in high school just as the 2nd episode was coming out. We have since spent the past 8 years RAVING about the game, the design, the storytelling, the music- everything. The ending was so well done (from what we can remember) but the only issue was we could not for the life of us remember the name. We finally was talking about it with our dad and he looked it up just based on our description and lo and behold, here we are. We cant wait to redownload it and rediscover this incredible story. Great work.

This game was the best we had played in a while. This game is a puzzle game and its not that hard that you would rage quit or smth like that nope! It was a rlly interesting story line and we definitely recommend to anyone who likes those types of games. We rlly enjoyed it and we think it was worth us spending $5 on episode 2! We loved this game and hope to see more like this in the future.

After playing through this game for the second time we can say without a doubt this is one of our favorite games. We wish they would make more.

We love puzzle games with a story to them and this one has the best story out of any other puzzle game Ive played. We actually cried in the ending, we wont say much because we dont want to spoil it just know that it is a beautifully made game and the use of music is genius and helps with the storytelling. It was 100% worth the purchase.

Ive never written a game review but here we are. We started this game back in 2012/2013. For some reason we quit playing & deleted the app. Then a super random thought about it popped into our head, somehow remembered the name & downloaded again to play. We cant say enough how much we love this game. Its a little challenging with a great, in depth story line. The art & music, the voice acting, the dialogue & the little bits of comedic phrases from Joe are amazing. Like most reviews, we wish the 2nd chapter wasnt cut so short. There was a lot of room for the story to carry on. However, that doesnt change our feelings on the game as a whole. We would love to see another game like this in the App Store. Great work.

Masterpiece. Finished the game and had so much nostalgia playing, one of the best puzzle mobile games Ive ever played If not best.

We really like this game and enjoy playing it. We dont spend any money in the game. The only money we spent on this was for the 2nd part of the game and we dont mind bcuz its a great game.

Was Really Amazing. OverExpected. Attractive Immerive graphic , great soundtracks, creative funny dialogue!!! ( specially translation-Farsi). Enjoyed so much, just 2 chapter was not enough. Waiting for new chap. Or new game of its founder.

We loved this game. We do feel like it could have been a little longer for the cost, but Im not complaining. We blazed through it in about 2 days because it was so much fun. The plot was interesting and unique and really had us fascinated. The ending/epilogue left something to be desired? But maybe the anti climactic end represents how joe just goes on with a normal mundane life afterwards. Almost feels like theres room for a sequel? With archon having worked on something nefarious in the 40 years joe was asleep. Either way, one of the best apps Ive played.

Please make more games like this or at least a sequels for silent age we need more.

This is a real hidden gem, its got a great art style, great voice acting and engaging mechanics. The story is a perfect combination of well written, fun and complicated that you can follow it without having to have it be explained to you. All around, 10/10 game and mad props to the devs for making a game this good.

One of the greatest mobile games ever. A shame that a part 3 was never released.
