What Makes This War of Mine: Stories Stand Out

This War of Mine: Stories – Father's Promise

Original This War of Mine, one of the most successful indie titles of the last decade, provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle – that of civilians. Father's Promise is a standalone story-driven tale set in the universe of the original game.

It tells a story of family's struggle to preserve the last pieces of humanity in times of despair and cruelty. Become Adam – a father trying to save his daughter from the horrors of war and escape the besieged city. Follow their steps and discover a story of love, hate and sacrifice – the emotions we all share in the darkest of days.

The Father's Promise features:

  • A harrowing storyline based on an audio-drama by famous Polish author, Łukasz Orbitowski
  • Emotionally difficult experience – decisions that are often morally ambiguous
  • Crafting, cooking, taking care of people – anything that helps to survive
  • Locations exclusively made for this standalone expansion
  • Remastered and enhanced visuals from the original This War of Mine

This Adventure game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

Must be patient at first but then it grabs you and has a dig feel than any other game we have played.

It has a story that isnt crazy in depth, fan fic style, but the gameplay as challenging as it is heartbreaking. Started off the game starving, begging for medicine, and things go from bad to worse.

The gameplay is fantastic and the visuals, although not as good as PC, are still pretty good. Its difficult and seeing your kid suffer while you do your best to provide is certainly a heart wrenching experience to pay for. One problem. Right as soon as you feel like the story is picking up steam, the game is cut short by an ending that is disappointing and it feels like you didnt work for it. We got excited, but theres no stealth section like the main game (the main game can be played in any way you want, albeit coming with its own set of challenges for each), and you suffer no penalties for committing murder, stealing, and raids (being attacked at night would usually get someone upset in your group) because the only playable character is stuck being determined and never loses hope. This may sound good but it removes the challenges of morale penalties.

Dont get us wrong we loved it but thing is it was only one story. If Im spending our money we were kinda expecting to have more stories to play through. Kinda a ripoff if you ask us.

We only wish there were PS4 versions of all the different ones. Its by far our favorite PS4 game. These ones are great too but we prefer playing with controller. All in all great game. We plan to get the board game eventually as well.

A bit more linear and story focused with less decisions and options than the original. But goddamn the feels.

We finished this game in less than one day graphics needs some fixing as there are white spots in the house . And the story is short if this was a dlc wouldve been cheaper and better.

The title implies multiple play-throughs of different stories. Instead its one story, that we played through in like an hourjust a bit disappointing.

We have the iPhone 13 and Im unable to play the game due to a graphic issue. Half our screen is pink and we cannot play at all!!! Someone help.

Amazing amazing game but there is no more story and for the same price you should get more gameplay.

We went to the toy store once and left on time, but we cant even click in it when selecting our desired location to go to. This game had so much potential, and was really good, but we are stuck on one level, which is boring. The customer support is also not great. There is no way to talk to the developers other than just doing this, and we are not even sure if anyone will reply. (If they dont we will give 1 star rating because our game would be broken and a waste of money.).

We loved it so much. We just want more. Its sad but heart catching. You guys did an outstanding job.

We wish we had found this game sooner. Very addictive and enjoyable. Love to see more add ons for the game. Yes, we recommend it to everyone who loves playing survival games. Its a fun and challenging game.

This dlc is more heart wrenching than the original and has an unpredictable ending. Its linear and the choices are limited. The focus is not solely based on guarding your shelter and upgrading. Its a unique change of pace and objective. It lacks high replay value (ending is the same) and has minimal characters (mainly the main character in the shelter). We enjoyed the adventure of searching clues, exploring new areas and the different dialogue however the not many locations are available until you learn a new clue.

So this is a good story, but the epilogue fails to load. Otherwise good add-on just wish you had more stories.

We enjoyed the base game, and this was an all right ad-on. That said, its only one story, and its really short. We were expecting more than one story based on the title, which is misleading. Its OK, but for us it just wasnt worth it.

As we can see, there will be no season pass for the rest of the stories, so its just one story for with a couple hours of gameplay. Just get this game on pc/console. Dont bother with mobile.

We can barely make the first trade for medicine without giving away literally everything we own. And thats AFTER Ive secured every bit of resources in the area and cleared all possible rubble. Ridiculous.

Thought it had more than one story because of the name but we were wrong. Maybe you guys should just call it story.. Short story at that.

Screen ratio is not fit in iPhone 11,fix it.

Please fix the game with iphone 11.

This game is a great one, we were estates when the new one came out and Ive been playing the OG one for along time.

This was wonderful. Ive loved the base game for years and Im thrilled to see more quality content.

We know This War of ours has other stories like The Last Broadcast. Will the others be available IOS soon? We hope so! We particularly enjoyed A Fathers Promise because it felt so much easier than the base game lol. It has all the same things and mechanics we liked about This War of ours. We had no issue with the length of this game. Yes, its short, but its still a heart-wrenching story about a father doing everything he can to get back to his little girl. People should definitely play this game.

We died on day 21 then it wont let us continue on previous day it keeps saying Adam died over and over. So we decided to start a new game but its saying Adam died again. Fixed it by closing the app and putting it back on multiple times. Still 4 stars because Im a fan.

Its really a good game to play but there is only one story? And the story are so short.

Make it playable on iPhone 11 or imma need our money back.

Calling this app stories is a lie, theres one story. Its a good story but if you were hoping to play numerous storylines, youre out of luck.

We love TWoM. Even went all in on the board game 2nd edition. Great moral choices and conflicts. Masterful characters development with real emotion. However the title of this gam is misleading. Its A story. Single story. Its good but we kinda thought maybe thered be more than one. Like storieS.

We thought the whole point of making this a separate app instead of adding it as dlc to the original game was because you improved the graphics? But clearly the iOS version is still watered down as there are ZERO rain effects. Why?? Any device with the A8 chip should have no problem handling the better graphics, and of course, the newest devices are even more powerful! Theres really no excuse for not making this port almost identical to the PC version. Also, where is the other dlc story? Please tell us you plan on adding the other stories on iOS for purchase through this app.

Loved This War of ours and we were afraid this would be a paired-down version. Thankfully its the same mechanic with the addition of a story/mystery element. Theres only one story (which Ive finished in short order) but the wording in the app and App Store suggests there might be more stories to come. Its fairly short but whats there is really nicely done.

We play the original game on Xbox. The stories are not yet available on there, so we bought it for our phone. We prefer the Xbox controls but touch works just fine. Great story, and would be great for people to try before buying the full game. One of our favorite games by far. Cant wait for more content on Xbox, will be buying it all as soon as its released. Thank you 11-bit studios for this amazing and original game.

This game is incredible but there is only one story. This could easily be better than the original This War of ours if they add more story. But it is worth it once they add more it will be better.

Does not fit correctly on the iPhone xr. Otherwise looks and rounds great.

Buggy, incredibly slow, poor gameplay makes what could be a harrowing historical fiction game about the horrors of war into a solely frustrating experience. What's more, the complete lack of improvements from its predecessor makes one wonder why in the world this needed to be a separate app. Pass on this one.

How do you just release this game and not have it optimized for the iPad Pro 11.
