In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.
The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

Hello, have you ever wanted to play a game where, trapped in a city full of bombings and war, you struggle, try, and fail to provide food, supplies, and bandages for when your characters inevitably get wounded from constant attacks on their home? This is the game for you. In all seriousness this game is great. You have to develop a strategy or die. Looting buildings can either be rewarding or not so rewarding. Stockpiling is important. Choosing who to guard your shelter could be the difference between life and death. Depressing events will leave your characters crying and sobbing all night, encouraging good deeds when you dont have anything to give. When you feel that you are living happy and healthy, with everyone somehow content (and if you have the DLC, the child fed and happy with lots of toys to play with and attention at all angles), one thing could go wrong and turn Into a downward spiral. Has a crap ton of replay value, and each character has their own perks for survival. Its a masterpiece of storytelling, and Im not making that up. It has detailed character stories, and even short conversations between NPCs say all you would want to know.
$5-$20 value for $1. Game optimizes nicely to iPad.
Decided to download to our phone after years playing this game. Aside from more freezes and crashes, its got one main issue that bugs me: if you pause the game and your phone sleeps, the game most likely closes, meaning any daytime progress you made needs to be repeated. Its a real drag, and doesnt do this on ipad, no matter what app/refresh settings we select otherwise, its well made, very addictive, and a mainstay time killer.
We bought this game in 2014 in steam and after we got it in EpicGames on PC. Then, we bought it on iOS and its almost the same feelings! This game is unique! Fantastic atmosphere of war. Story feeling similar like tragedy in Sarajevo in 90s. Recommending!

2022 update: The uncontrollable characters bug and the talk bubble bug are still there after all this time. Two-year anniversary update: This update adds free content, and possibly (I haven’t confirmed) fixes the disappearing character bug in the 4+1 scenario, but some of the basic, oldest bugs remain. After two years, we would have expected a fix. It’s a little ludicrous to complain about a free update, but we would really rather see a bug fix update before a content update. Still an amazing game! Original review: This is a five-star game (one star deducted for non-trivial bugs). YOU SHOULD GET IT. It’s tragic and depressing, and yet somehow it manages to be fun as well. We can’t stop playing, and we’ve already "survived" every scenario. Elements of strategy, ruthlessness, and kindness. You have to make tough choices. The art is amazing look for the little touches. Zoom in to examine the scenes and characters closely you might be surprised at what you find. Unlike some other reviewers, we like the game-save system. The downsides: Not quite enough randomness after beating it once. Each building really only has two variants "danger" and "caution", and after playing once you know how to approch both. Also, there are bugs, and yet to us the game itself is worth suffering though them. A crash bug (out of memory?), a bug in the UI where characters (who are not "broken") cannot be controlled, a bug in the UI where speech bubbles appear above characters but no one can speak to them, a bug in the UI where two-finger touch control is lost (one-finger zoom, somehow), and a bug where a ghost seems to perform actions, e.g. "[blank] did [thing]".
We played this game on our iphone 14 pro max. There is a problem with our resolution or something. There is a pink area on one side, and the game is on the other side. We cannot click on anything :(

Beautifully designed game that gives us all an insight into what Ukrainians must be going through.
Begging you to make a new update this game has potential its really good you cant let it die out yet please make a update or add something new this game deserves 5 stars.

Since we played this on console we loved it great story and great variety of gameplay and choices now that its on mobile we highly recommend u buy it this game is extremely fun and yes it can be difficult at times but it truly just adds too the fun that this game has too offer.
Just grab a copy and enjoy this game. You wont regret if you are into survivel/atmospheric games. An exprience you will never forget.
This is a best time to start playing this game during Russia-Ukraine war. Hope all the civilians in the combat zone can stay safe and sound, till we can rebuild the peace again.

Amazing replayability, really immersive, great and easy to learn mechanics. The Stories version is better because of the scenario only. The whole franchise are the best games we’ve ever played on a phone.

The developers were very quick to fix crashes in the past, which we definitely appreciate. HUGE thank yous for that!!! As for the game, it plays like a point and click adventure game, so it obviously feels right at home on the touch screen. We were lucky, having purchased the game during a sale for just $1.99, and then the Little Ones DLC for another $1.99. The game is so good we wound up getting it on the Epic Store for $20. Having it available on our laptop as well as in our pocket has made it super easy to dive in to whenever we’ve got a chunk of free-time, and even though we had completed a couple games in the past the game didnt really strike that chord inside of us until Russia invaded Ukraine. Having friends that live in Russia (actually, our ONLY friends…. They both live in Russia) and watching their military commit atrocity after atrocity has added a very heavy, very serious, very dark blanket full of conflicting emotions, to the point that we’ve been brought to tears more than a couple of times while trying to play this. Thank you to the developers. This could not have been an easy game to make, and we appreciate them having the dedication amd drive and will to do so. We dont think we could have stuck with it to the end had we been in their shoes. It can be very difficult playing through this sometimes, but its a game/story that we think everyone should make themselves play and complete. It can be much more than just a game if you can bring yourself to stare it in the face. To stare at and see what sickening, horrific things humanity has done, is doing and will continue to do – hopefully more will be moved to make the conscious decision to put forth the effort and do something…. ANYTHING…. To try and bring peace to this world…. …. Thank you for this. We know this review went nowhere. Im sorry. Our heads been really messed up. Im selling our house, getting a passport and applying to join the Ukrainian army.
Game is great, it is worth the price and plays nicely, we also like the immersion. One thing we wish there could be is a better saving system, its frustrating that when we have to go while we are playing, and the day is over, we have to restart from beginning of day just to advance, once we get back on the game. This or you have to progress to next day, there is no in between it seems like – please correct us if we are wrong. Also it would be nice if the developers keep updating and working on the game periodically, things like adding a new location or two, including difficulty modes,

First off, gameplay is awesome and thats all we have to say, for the gameplay alone you should buy it, but the message is also great, with all the media we see nowadays most seem to almost glorify war and not truly show how bad it is, this game perfectly captures what its like for civilians who are in the midst of war, and how they have to live during conflicts. We also wanted them to stop asking us to rate the game.
Hi, we absolutely love this game, we play it daily. We’ve beat it about a million different times! We were wondering if you could add more houses, more people and different things to do.
We love the game; we also got it on our Xbox. On the iPhone its extremely difficult to read. There should be an option to change the font size.
The only reason we give it a 3 star is because it has no custome scenarios or any custome tools like the pc version lame.
We love this game, Im currently playing it on PS5, so we put it on our phone too. The only problem is you can barely zoom into the screen, so its really difficult to read the text. We actually have to do a screenshot, zoom in, read it and delete the pic. Thats not a fun way to play. If you have 20/20 vision, you might do better than we did. If they could fix the zoom problem, Id be playing this game all the time.
There is a large pink area in the bottom of the screen, and the game contents are huddled together in the top, with some contents lost Iphone 14 pro max iOS 16.0.2.
Literally every app in current existence allows something else to play in the background, even with music and sfx to 0, it doesnt allow other other music apps to play. Shameful.
The app keeps crashing, Its really frustrating. We just deleted it and never coming back to it.
In shorti like the game. But The game force us to rate the game every time we go through the 12th day. If we dont have the free will of choice, we will rate you as one star. Until the day you fix this.
Incredibly well thought out stories and gameplay, but we cant play it on the iPhone 14(just the regular) because theres a thick neon pink rectangle covering the left side of the screen, and it blocks elements of the home and the levels when exploring.
Good game on PC but this mobile version and its bugs make it unplayable. We couldnt place a bed down anywhere, except by holding it with one finger then pressing the place prompt which placed the bed floating in mid air. The resolution of the game is not fixed for certain iPhones as half the buttons to go to night or see temperature are blocked off by where our phones speakers are, and there is just tons of other un-polished buggy parts of this game that make it unbearable. Really needs an update to fix all these bugs, then Id gladly change our review.
The depressing atmosphere teaches that theres no glory or honor in war when you are a civilian. From the civilian perspective, you are shown atrocity after atrocity, until eventually your characters start pushing beyond their breaking points. The atmosphere is only a part of it, as you have to look at character Bios as they show what that character thinks. Great game, 10/10 would play again.
This game is great. We wish you guys would make a new one. So many ways to expand.
Played it on pc first and and theres many reasons why this is such a good game. They also did a great job porting it over but we’ve seen a little glitch or strange responsiveness every now and then and its just a bit harder to manage zoom and controls over pc. Unfortunately this game can get tight on difficulty sometimes and these differences can feel really frustrating when youre running out of food and need to maximize your characters time as well as avoid enemies when scavenging. Overall great game, good port with the limitations. Just find myself wanting to go back to PC.
You were quick to make it playable on iPhone 13s, yet have not given us mobile users anything in terms of custom scenarios. We know it takes a bit to code the game and such, if you could place this game on the new devices, to generate your wealth, seems like you could take the time to update scenarios to match the pc game. Especially since the cost is the same.
