Description

A story-driven experience about two doctors traversing backwards through a dying man’s memories to artificially fulfill his last wish.

ABOUT THIS GAME
Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live, all the way from the very beginning… but only in their patients’ heads.

Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn’t.

This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny’s past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.

And Johnny’s last wish is, of course… to go to the moon.

To the Moon Reviews

Just started playing this and we love the music and the animations. We look forward to playing again tomorrow. This game is relaxing and the story reels you in. This game gets 5 stars from me.

Please, please, please also release the two later games A Bird Story and Finding Paradise in iOS version. We want more Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts!!

Turns out we own this game on iOS. We just beat it today w/o taking more than a single bathroom break. Simply put, the best story we’ve ever experience in a video game in our almost 40 years of gaming. It is less a game and more of an experience. To The Moons beautiful story will most certainly capture your heart and leave a lasting impression on you!

The story is just superb, and the music.

We have no clue if this review will be posted while this game is still on sale or not, but in cause anyone was holding off on buying this solely due to all the recent one star reviews saying the game requires a phone number to play (I almost didnt buy it)-dont. On the opening screen there is a box at the bottom with text in a foreign language that is automatically checked. We unchecked it, then hit the tap to start button and had no issues (I havent seen the box or the text on the opening screen since either). We also havent experienced any sound issues. We havent finished the game yet, so will update our review when we do, but we wanted to post this ASAP for anyone on the fence about buying. We have tested this on a current generation iPad Air running iOS 15 and an iPhone XR running iOS 12. We had no issues getting into the game on either device.

We love it. We had this game before but the reason there 4 stars is because the two colored rabbit is a momento. We cant get the 1 memory orange because of that. But we like it. Needs less swears.

Its ok. Characters are kinda lame. Doctors are the enjoyable part of the game(if youre into that humor). We were actually searching for a sad, emotional story game. People reviewed this to be so emotional and they cry. Im actually somewhat sensitive to games and stories. But this did not get us at all. In fact it was kinda weird. Guy has Aspergers wife who they shared a somewhat weird and unhappy relationship. She has held a grudge since she was 5 against this guy for not remembering their first meet up. So since she cant communicate properly makes paper bunnies to make him remember.. Turns out his brother died at that age so he lost his memory from drugs because his mother made him take it? Like thats wack. Yeah people cry from this cry from sunsets every evening.

We really want to play this game but would love it if it had controller support!

What is the Taptap thing and why do we have to register it? We just want to play a game, why does this thing ask for our phone number? And most importantly, the Taptap thing doesnt go through EVEN after we provided our number, meaning its impossible to open this game. Are you kidding us?

Totally unable to get into the game because taptap kept popping up for registering and asking for phone number, but it doesnt support US phone number. Seriously?

Ask for private information, ask for phone number, ask for citizenship id. We bought a game, not spy app. We just deleted the game. We want to give 0 star.

For some reason im getting no sound whatsoever. Have our phone and the sound settings in the game maxed. Nothing. Hit the report bug button in game but dont expect anything to come of it. Going to request refund.

Doesnt work. It starts off with a user agreement looking thing in a language we cant read. After we touch things, it moves to a tap to start screen, with more stuff written in a language we cant read. No matter how much we tap to start, nothing happens. Im going to ask Apple for a refund .

First app we ever got that will not open. Of course its a paid app. REFUND PLEASE.. BOOOOOO. We should have looked at the most critical reviews which are always the real reviews.

Please upload Finding Paradise and A Bird Story here too!! We loved To the Moon so much! It really requires deep understanding and thought to truly appreciate the game. We were waiting for the sequel in the App Store but….. Please please please upload the sequels here. Impostor Factory is coming out this year as well.

Us encanta este juego… Menos mal ya corrigieron el error de la antigua versin.. Es un gran port que hicieron… Es una carta de amor hacia los fans… Gracias..

This is a short game, and mostly about watching story rather than ‘playing’. But the story is beautifully written and music is great. We highly recommend it. Its good to play on a very relaxing weekend.

Wow… We have never played a game with such depth in its storyline as this one. We loved every second playing this. Please make more!!

We loved playing this game. The OST is incredible, and there are many emotional moments in the game enhanced by the beautiful piano soundtrack. The story is captivating and definitely gives you chills at times. 10/10 would play again.

To be honest, Im an extremely unemotional person, part of the reason we downloaded it is because we what to see how touching the story is (lol). Our eye was watery in the very end, with that beautiful main theme music. Well done!! We hope this can be made into a movie in the future.

This is the most touching game we have ever played. We even wonder if the ones we played before can be called games.

Its been around three years since the release of this game and we just played through again. Still the BEST mobile game we have ever played.

Vo chi mn hnh ti en khng chi c.

For someone who has played many games before, there are very few we would consider perfect. This is easily on our top 10 best games of all time. And it doesnt even involve anything fast paced, challenging, or troublesome to complete. Just a slow, methodical journey to reach the desired end.

We sat there and played the whole thing in four hours straight and cried through the entire experience. We’ve never been so invested in a game so fully, from the soundtrack to the credits, this is a game we will truly never forget. In fact, we had finished it four years ago, but it had come up in memory again and we were overcome with emotion all over again.

When we originally got this game, we admit we almost didnt keep playing. Now that we’ve finished it, we can say this is by far one of the best games of its type that we have ever played. The story was captivating, and we had chills by the ending, on the verge of crying both happy and sad tears! We need a sequel!

We cried we cried we cried we cried we cried we cried we cried.

Una historia excelente con un buen ritmo de juego. Solo que el control es algo mejorable para magnificar la experiencia.

The stellar reviews finally brought us to this game. As many before have observed, the actual gameplay is minimal. There is very light exploration and several quick mini-games along the way which basically serve to nudge the story along. But if you adjust your expectations and decide to invest yourself in the narrative, the experience can be surprisingly poignant and thought provoking. Which is why we regret the one thing that detracted from our experience, which is the dialogue between the two characters that you play throughout the story (the "doctors") that we found to be hokey, crass and juvenile to the point of being completely distracting. Constantly flinging sarcastic comments or insults at each other, being jarringly rude to other characters, routinely calling each other "idiot", "moron", or at one point, "butthead." The dialogue between these two so-called doctors struck us as so wildly out of place that it constantly jolted us out of this otherwise touching storyline and came close to derailing the whole experience for us, unfortunately. Having said that, we were still able to somewhat overlook the childish banter and remain attuned to the larger story, which is truly moving and memorable and still made the journey worthwhile in the end.

While the puzzles are far and few between, the puzzling thoughts brought up by the storyline are worthwhile. Im guessing the mysterious condition is a form of Autism? For lack of real puzzles and for unnecessary bad language and name calling we can only give it 3 stars.

Its been 6 years since we first experienced this game, and it still stands as our favorite story of all time from ANY medium. It is close to narrative perfection and empowered with a beautiful and nostalgic original soundtrack. Its a beautiful game through and through that will stick with us for the rest of our life. The experience than Kan Gao has crafted in this game is truly timeless and we believe that everyone should give this game a chance.

Wow, words cant describe what we felt when playing this game. Its been about a year since we’ve played it, but its been one of the most memorable iOS game we’ve had the pleasure to experience. The story starts simple: youre a doctor visiting his dying patient with your aide, but then you learn that the character youre playing can alter memories. Alter their history so that your patients dreams can come true! So after delving into your patients memory, so his wish can come true and he can pass in peace, you experience life through his eyes. Theres joy, sorrow and every emotion in between. When we finished the game, we didnt even realize how much time had passed. Thats how immersive this game is/was. Its up to you if you want to play, but you wont regret it if you do.

When we played this game we were finishing it and we almost cried just playing it the music is sad the story is sad the hole game is just sad but the thing is that we dont like is the curse words But its ok still.

It is an amazing game we’ve replayed it multiple time just so that we know we’ve done everything. We were also wondering if thered be any sequel like finding paradise or the bird story cause honestly we really want more. We cant help but feel like we’ve done everything here. Thats how good this game is, honestly for any new come we suggest you play it all in one sitting its only at most an hour and thirty minute game. Personally, we really regret playing the first over a span of two months for only a few minutes at a time.

To The Moon just might be our favorite game in all existence, although it is less of a game in the traditional sense and more of an interactive story than anything. We honestly cant imagine living without this game its made such an impression on us. Its definitely worth the money- and this is coming from someone who never wants to pay for apps (I bought this with a gift card.) we’ve owned To The Moon for two whole years now and we still havent gotten sick of it. The characters are all fun and memorable, the music is gorgeous and we love the chemistry between Neil and Eva, our two protagonists. The writing is stellar (no pun intended) as well and the game is long enough to really get you invested in the storyline without dragging on. We’ve yet to play this game without crying. Just be warned, however- a lot of the negative reviews claim this game to be boring, and for some people it may be. To be fair, it isnt very exciting in terms of gameplay- all you do is guide around the two doctors as they look for different items to create a memory link and proceed to Johnnys next memory. The hardest thing youll have to face is solving a simple puzzle once all five memory links are located. If you appreciate a good story and dont mind a slower-paced, story-driven game, buy this right now- you wont regret it. However, if youre looking for something more quick-paced and action-packed, this is probably not the game for you. That doesnt mean you wont like it, though- this is the first story-driven game we’ve had experience with, and lets just say we fell in love. It just means that if you dont happen to enjoy the game, this is probably why. No game is perfect and no game can please everyone. And if youre one of the people complaining about the controls, theres a PC version with controls you might like better. In conclusion, we highly recommend this game to anyone who happens to stumble across it. Its introduced us to a whole new world of games we didnt even know were out there. Whenever Im bored, this game is there to pick us up, and when Im sad, it helps us straighten out our feelings. We just love to play this curled up in bed with the lights off and the window open, staring up at the moon and imagining Johnny there, his lifes goal fulfilled. It almost makes us want to fly to the moon myself, which hopefully will be possible within our lifetime. And if not, maybe Ill have a Dr. Watts and Rosaline to send us there in our mind instead. P.S. If you do happen to like this game, there are two (yes, two!) sequels- A Bird Story and Finding Paradise! A Bird Story is much shorter than To The Moon and is meant to bridge the gap between this game and Finding Paradise. We havent gotten ahold of these ones yet but Im told they both follow the same character, the doctors next patient, at different times in his life. These are not available on mobile yet, Ill but Ill try and play through them on Steam and edit our thoughts into this review when Im done.

Okay, so we got this game thinking it was gonna be ok but we did the first level and we were attached it is so beautiful and the music is . Some levels are kind of tricky but you just need to tap things. Please get this game even tho it is expensive, it is so worth it we just finished it and we lovveee it and the game comes with stickers that you can use on texts and they are cuuute !!!! Plz get this game will knock ur socks off!!!!!

Since the first time we watched PewDiePie play this game awhile back we have loved it recently we bought it to play on our own, and we made it pretty far into the game before we ran into trouble with the game unfortunately, for some reason when we got to nasa with Neil and Eva near the end of the game when you have to go to the 3rd floor and talk to Johnny in the bedroom to get a link the ghost and Johnny are not there and we’ve tried everything to trigger them to be there but there isnt much we can do and we believe there is a glitch in the game making them not be there please fix this issue soon so we can get Johnny to the moon.

This is one of the absolute best mobile rpg games we played. It was very touching. It was worth every cent.

As many people have stated, its very emotional. Playing through the game, we had experienced pain, sadness, and joy. The game is fun, not very challenging at any point. However, it makes up in the emotional feelings you will feel towards the characters. As theres no spoilers here, play and see what happens. Unless you are very sensitive and/or dont want a game like this. We enjoy the controls here and thing they made an amazing mobile port from the PC. We enjoy the music and story also. 100/10 would recommend to anyone wanting a casual play.

This is unlike any other video game story we’ve ever played. The characters, music and story dont seem like they will come together to tug your heartstrings at first, but give it time. The tasks are sometimes difficult and tedious, but even that is part of the story, reminding you that this is tedious work for Eva and Neil. If you have lost a family member or loved one, this will give you such a wonderful experience, and encourage some deep introspection. We were caught off guard by how deeply this touched us, we couldnt put it down. Find a few hours where you can turn down the lights and hear the rain on your window and engage in this story. You wont be sorry.

What a story. This game is gorgeous in music and storytelling. It was slow at first but the humor, pain, depth… This would make an amazing movie one day. Its a short game but worth every penny. Masterfully done.

To The Moon is a fantastic experience. Its a story driven RPG with great characters, great story telling, and a powerful soundtrack. Its story has great mystery, some fun comedy, and serious tearjerkers (come prepared with tissues). Being written, developed, and composed nearly all by Kan Gao, it shows through the ability for all the different elements to work together to enhance the story and experience. The main downside is that the game aspect isnt very impressive. The majority of the gameplay involves just walking around and reading the dialogue triggered by interactions. There is little challenge (besides emotionally) to progress, and the game almost plays out more like an interactive movie than a game (though movies dont have pixel based visuals and dialogue boxes for conversation). For some people, the lack of gameplay can be a turn-off, but personally we dont feel it detracts from the experience. Overall, would we recommend this? If youre just looking for a challenging or gameplay filled experience, then perhaps no. However, if you want an incredible story that lives up to the stories of some of the best movies and books, absolutely!

Its really good.. But youll have to buy it to know for yourself ;)

To The Moon is truly the best game we’ve ever played. It has this sort of RP Maker style pixelated charm, that actually enhances the stunning visuals of the game. The plot is absolutely gorgeous, and the music always compliments the story being told rather than distracting from it. This game is worth the price.
