Loved it, would love to have second part.

We remember playing this game 5 years ago It was fantastic as always love it 5 stars.

Best Game Ever! Sequel ASAP please! Buy this! You will not regret it! So fun! We have played it three times!

For a paid app, we were surprised to still be bothered by an advertisement at a certain point. Hit the wrong button on your controller and instead of closing the ad it takes you to the app store page for what it’s advertising. That’s the kind of cleap clickbait BS a cheap app maker would use. It is for that reason that we are docking it 1 star for what normally would be a perfect metroidvania type game.

This game kept us engaged throughout the entire adventure and left us wanting more! We’ll play any similar game that Donut Games puts out in the future.

We hope there’s a sequel in the works!

We love this game. We play it a lot and it never gets boring. But we have on suggestion. Can you add multiplayer? We really want you to add it so you can play with friends. Thanks!

Well, we enjoyed the game briefly but not Im stuck with no hints other than we probably need a flashlight with no idea on how or where to get it.

The game was fine, but it FOR SURE wasnt worth $5. Getting the gems means nothing and the game can feel complete after getting all the relics in all the right places. If youre a completionist like myself, finding the secret rooms and secret symbols was easily found through walkthroughs on the internet. The story fell flat for us and how easily you could die was frustrating. For $5, we wouldnt recommend it. For free with ads, Id recommend trying it out and then we would have possibly paid $2 if we really liked it. Im a big fan of platformers with good stories, and would suggest FancyPants Adventures (whos music is SO GOOD) or Cat Bird for better stories and harder challenges.

While the graphics are on par with 16-bit the animations are a little stiff. That aside this game was incredibly fun reminding us of Metroid meets Spelunker with a little Pharaohs Curse. Played with an external controller and its even better. Because you respawn on the same screen you die the game is pretty easy, but thats not really what this is about. Its about exploration of the Pyramid and finding the missing idols within the maze.

To begin, 90% of all the games we’ve tried to play on our smartphones we’ve gotten so frustrated with we have abandoned. We are a total gamer with almost 20 systems and over 600 games, from Atari 2600 to the latest, and we simply have the hardest time playing games with touchscreen. When we got our iPhone 6+ we vowed to get over this issue as it has the larger screen, yet once again we found myself struggling with the flat surface which provides no feedback for location or response. That being said, this game provides the most functional and responsive controls on mobile devices we’ve ever found. The run and jump buttons are perfectly placed and every movement is accompanied by an audible cue, that while is standard in most games, is critical for this format. But this is just the beginning of how much fun Traps and Gemstones can be. Our favorite genre is Metroidvania, as it provides what most good games should; multiple challenges, beautiful levels, upgrades and unlockables, hidden secrets and infectious music, all presented with friends and foes you enjoy exploring with. Traps and Gemstones is right up there with some of the greatest console games that defined this genre. While it’s older siblings offered more complex puzzles requiring practice and training, Traps and Gemstones doesn’t tax the gamer beyond the limitations of the format. While one may be able to achieve acrobatics with a blutooth controller, Donut Games knows not to push the player too hard, and that keeps this game entertaining and replayable. Without spoilers, our only complaint about this game is the ending, which comes too easily and with little narrative. That’s not to say it’s too short, there are hours of fun to be had with great replay value. But any game that is as fun as this one always feels too short. That being said, we very much look forward to a sequel!

This is just an amazing platformer and work of Art. We like the adventure concept plus puzzles along the way. It has simple controls and many useful items to pick along the way. And that time when you are like WHERE IS THAT STUPID RELIC!!!!! We are always looking for Adventure RPGs that are pixelated, and we just found a great one. We recommend this to yo momma and everyone! Please download and make a sequel donut games! We feel like soon enough this game was forgotten! We have always been a fan donut games! We beat it once, twice, thrice,LOVE!

We love this game. It does not disappoint. Very fun. Smooth controls. Reminds us of playing the old NES but with smoother controls and more beautiful graphics. Oh yeah, the sound effects sound crisp and awesome! We’re almost about %50 and had to stop to write a review and show our support with how much we like this game. Whoever designed this game, you or you all did a wonderful job! We hope you make more games of this calibre and detail. It’s simply awesome!!!!

Simply fantastic and leaves you wanting for more. The game is so good that for two days after completing it we have been searching for games similar to traps n gemstones. Please do what you can to incorporate another adventure via an update. If your reading the reviews debating to get game or not, stop reading and get the game!

One of the best ios experience we’ve had!!

EASILY one of the best iPhone games we have ever played. 10/10! We would love to see a sequel.

Fun platform with great feeling touchscreen controls.

This reminds us so much of the concept of Montezuma’s Revenge, which was a PC game from the 80s. This is an inspired adaptation, and so much better! Well done guys! Can’t wait for updates or more games of the same ilk! PS: There is a iOS port of Montezuma’s Revenge in the AppStore, but it is a poor experience.

We love it. Fun old school style game. Hope they make a part 2.

We love this game. It is great fun just to explore, and we’ve found a good many things we need but for the life of us we cannot find the rock hammer. We wish you guys would make or put in some hunts. But failing that, has anybody found the rack hammer and if so could anybody be so kind to tell us where or/and how to get it. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

Please make a traps n’ gemstones Maker. Make it so you get new items for your pyramid. Also, make it so in Traps n’ Gemstones maker you can customize the pyramid in Traps n’ Gemstones after you got 10 achievements. Keep up the work for making more and more updates.

We’ve been a fan of Donut Games since they started coming out for our iPhone 3G way back in 2008. They are a great company and the games were wonderful for the older devices, but get pretty boringly repetitive nowadays. Traps fixes all the single plot issues and brings many different elements into this game. With the game controller support (have the SteelSeries Stratus), it makes the game perfect for what it’s going for. If you’re looking super flashy guns and fights this ISN’T it but if you’re looking for a nice platform with more than one twist and turn, this is the game for you. $5 is pittance for a developer that’s been around since the App Store opened and continues to release new games and updates the old ones. Please get this game; you WON’T regret it! Thank you again Donut for your best game yet!!!

Wow, this is a fantastic game. We find platformers to be pretty horrible on touchscreen in general, but this one belongs in a small group of games that absolutely nails it. Controls are impeccable. The large map and exploration-based gameplay has us wishing for a sequel. Love the theme too. Make more, please MAKE MORE!!!!

Don’t get us wrong, we had a blast with this game. It’s an amazing metroidvania, it has great mechanics and has a lot of love but into it, but we finished this game in two hours. No, we didn’t rush through it, doing only the story and not collecting the collectibles. We got over half the collectibles. I’d say it should cost maybe $1-$2.

This game is good. Love the gameplay and story. Wish you had the ability to switch between weapons and items though…

Definitely one of our favorites, because we never have many games on our iPhone at once, and this one stayed on for quite a while. We enjoyed it a lot, and we definitely would buy a second one if they made it, but there is one problem: the price. If it was a lot cheaper (even free) then we would definitely got it. It was much like the old school metroid games, which were really good.

This is the hardest game we ever played.

We were enjoying the game thinking that we were finishing the first level but then the whole game ended and we were like, "I paid money for that? Seriously a couple hours max…

We bought to play with our powershell controller, as it is advertised as compatible. Big surprise, only the pause button works. We’re not interested in playing with the touchscreen, so it’s a total waste of money for us. A fix would be fantastic.

This game was amazing! We could not stop playing it. We finished it in 2 days and now we are left wanting more! Please add onto the game or make a similar one. We loved it. We also loved that there weren’t any micro transactions and it wasn’t bugging us to make purchases to play the game better. All around, great game!!

Simple title that requires nothing more than for players to have fun. Worthy of a place on any device.

Please make a sequel!!!!!!!! This is what IOS gaming is all about! Great job!

This game is fun and satisfy to play. If your a fan of Metroid and Castlevania type games (Metroidvania), you should give this a try. We look forward to the sequel!

We were suffering from the "stuck in the wall" bug, and after reporting it we discovered that it’d been fixed in the next update. Thanks for a speedy response, Donut Games! We’re now happy to give the game the 5 stars it absolutely deserves. This is our go-to game on our iPhone!

Great game, a good variety of levels and challenges to keep it interesting. Well designed and looks great, we thoroughly enjoyed this one..

We wish there was more of this game. Many people alike it to Metroid, a maze like game with lots of areas unlocked with new ability gains (picture Zelda, but with a Super Mario 1 point of view). Its a lot of fun finding all these secrets and progressing through the story. We really wish there was more, more rooms, more secrets, more, more, more!

Generally easy, but with a few hard sections tossed in to keep it interesting, and with both lots of non essential symbols and a dozen or so hidden areas to find before you reach 100% explored, it’s still playable even after achieving the main goal.

Really nicely designed from a gameplay and graphics perspective. A very well considered little gem, should be a lot more popular.

Old school cool… We love it. Waiting for the sequel.

Donut Games has a history of making solid games with more arcade style play (given 19 or so of their games that we own). This is a departure from that as this game is an open world platform puzzler. Like Metroid or Castlevania but maybe a bit more Indiana Jones. This is not just a random indie looking affair either but something with the polish that the big N put in their platformer a back in the 90’s. Sure all Donut Games titles have a lot of polish but this one is a new level of polish even for them. If you like this genre, this is the game to get. If you love the genre as we do this one doesn’t disappoint. We give it our highest rating.

Buti finished the whole thing in under 3 hours. Granted a speed run of super metroid can be done in around 2. But the first time takes most people10-20 hrs. Just wish it was longer. But please dont add content the game is complete as is and adding content will just feel forced. Make a sequel with 3-5 times the length.

While we had some fun playing this game (I finished in a few hours over a couple of days) its definitely not among the best platformers on the app store. The controls are very imprecise too often we died because we meant to jump but rolled instead, etc. Also the visuals and the audio of this game didnt really impress us. We love a retro style but this just seemed generic (Wayward Souls and VVVVVV are two games with retro styles as well but theyre got loads of charm and individuality). A mostly competent, but ultimately uninspired, game.

We found all the relics and tools and we thought it was another place to explore but we guess that’s the game???? Am we wrong? Are they coming out with more lvl’s? If not you should be charging .99 cent for this not $ 2.99.

This is a great game, we played a ton on our iPhone 5s. But we just received our iPhone 6 and, like others have stated, the game doesn’t scale properly. This makes the touch screen buttons non-responsive. Update the game to work on larger screens and we’ll give it 5 stars.

Instead of being a quest game as we think the developers intended, the fact that every time you die your score goes back to zero makes it a "beat your last score" game and takes all of the fun out of it.

Please fix touch controls for iPhone 6, we’re unable to even start the game!

The game doesn’t render properly on the iPhone 6’s screen, so where you tap doesn’t match with where the controls are drawn. It doesn’t seem to matter which screen mode you select. This makes the game completely unplayable.

We got this on a whim and fell in love. Absolute steal at the launch price. Seems reasonably lengthy so far, but I’d pay for additional content or a sequel as well! Polished to perfection. Perfectly suited for mobile.
