Return to the world of TRISM.

In July 2008, Steve Demeter launched his indie game TRISM the first day the AppStore opened. TRISM went on to chart in the Top 10 overall for many months, winning a landslide of industry awards. Among a number of media appearances, Apple featured Steve in an Apple keynote as the first of their AppStore developer showcase documentaries.

Released ten years to the day since TRISM and the AppStore first launched, TRISM 2 is a return to form in AppStore gaming. Offering a level of vision and uniqueness that could only be achieved via an indie passion project, TRISM 2 boasts a fully interactive open world, deep narrative storyline, branching subquests, multiple endings, and episodic content.

Find out what gamers are saying about Trism II:

An excellent combination of puzzles with a fun storyline. Our 6yo & we both enjoy it.

Im not much of a gamer, but this app is super fun! We can spend way too much time playing around on this thing. We especially like the creativity between levels!

This game has little to do with its predecessor. Gameplay is vastly different yet it is a compelling sequel. Puzzles are challenging, addictive, and fun. Get it!

Balls! Its a completely different than the first trism but that doesnt matter! Its a fun unique original game! Once you unlock the compass it gets even better! And no ads or and unlimited lives! Totally worth the price!

It’s such a unique take on match 3! We love the story, the open world and the unique game mechanics!!! It’s also so great to have a match three that isn’t "free to play!" we can play until our heart is content, not like those other games with their 5 lives, so you have to pay for more! It’s an awesome game! You should definitely download it!

As someone who has played the original Trism on the first generation iPhone, we do love this game just as much as the first version. Would love to see that when redoing a level that you dont have to wait for the flashy animation and the text to fade in and out before starting. Other than that, the game is an excellent sequel.

This game is rather addicting. Its a great way to pass transient downtime. Some of the levels can be beat easily, but some are rather challenging, which keeps you from getting bored with it. 10/10 would recommend.

The game has us addicted already. Not an easy solve always, takes some thinking to beat some levels.

Not sure the narrative was super necessary, but whatever, we are obsessed with the puzzles. Bought on day one because we loved the original. This is a worthy successor.

Fans of the original should not purchase this expecting similar gameplay. It is not anything at all like the original. That being said, it is an novel interpretation of an old concept. The gameplay is solid. The cutesy art style is a little heavy handed at times, but its overall a fun and enjoyable game. Not quite the simple runaway success of the original, but still fun in its own right.

Im a huge fan of Trism! We remember watching the Apple doc. They made for the developer! Trism was one our favorite games and one of our favorite purchases ever on the AppStore! Its been 10 years since the original game. We were so excited to hear about this sequel and like how it had a story line and being completely original to the first game! In Trism 2, its more of an adventure game with Trism puzzles than a Trism arcade feeling. We wish the developer included an updated Trism Infinism and time trial modes back into Trism 2 as separate game modes! Because sometimes we want to play an arcade version of the game and not an adventure! We still love the adventure game in Trism 2 but we really wish the arcade version of Trism was in the sequel so we can play it on our iPhone X! We still have the old Trism game to play it still but its not formatted to fit the screen! Overall, Mr. Demeter you created in heck of a game and we can tell!! So glad you took your time with game and Im so glad you finished what you started! Thanks from a long time fan!

As a fan of Trism for many years we were happy to see a new version and didnt mind paying for the work these folks put in. A few things however: Why doesnt the tilt work to slide the tiles in different direction except down? App crashes especially trying to beat Nanook (whatever his name is) Theres too much story for those of us who just want to play. Looking forward to an update to fix the glitches and move on to the next round. Thank you !

We see several negative comments, but we like the game and think we will love it when it is finished. To be fair, there were a few issues. We received an error message when connecting to Facebook then the "throbbed" never disappeared after trying to connect so we had to restart. We were disappointed that we couldn’t move on after completing the first world, but like that the new world shows the % each section is until complete. Hopefully those %s will increase and we can update soon. IF YOU LOVE THE OLD TRISM this game is the same in principle, but follows a story. Hopefully a new update is on the way.

As a longtime obsessive fan of the first iteration of this game, we couldnt help but get sucked in, despite the vastly different mechanics. However, there remain so many glitches, the end result is disappointing. For instance, we have twice now purchased blue eyes as a power-up. However when trying to use this, it appears we only own RED. Some goals or items also seem impossible (or ready for an eventual add-in update?). In world amber (or whatever its called), there is a chest for which there is no key. Yet in jade, we have a key for which there is no chest! Many of the goals are also unclearsuch as to do things quickly. Well, HOW quickly? There is no way of knowing. Please fix!!

First off hats off to demiforce for making this game available. We are really enjoying the story line. We started playing the original trism. We think that the developer is great by keeping the original trism so its playable update after update that Apple puts out. Okay onto why we didnt rate this game 5 stars. 1. Lots of bugs and game crashes a lot. 2. We completed all the levels and they didnt mention that this is a working progress. We passed off the first boss excitedly anticipating the next area then boom a advertisement for the next update. We hope we dont have to wait another 10 years for the next update. There coming soon. Was not our idea of coming soon. On the plus side the update is free. 3. The boss level has strobe lights which gave us a migraine. Not fun.

So we tired Trism 2, but its just not our cup of tea. Its missing some of the things that made the original game so much fun. Could you please fix the original game? After updating to the current IOS it doesnt work. When we touch a tile the whole row turns black. We really love the game- please, please fix it.

So this is our fault for not reading reviews but hey… Its Trism II right? If people like this then we are happy for them but it is nothing like the original. Original Trism is simple, elegant, and endlessly playable. No cartoon characters and clicking through speech bubbles between levels. Fun orientation mechanics. No story to play through. This looks like a hundred other match games with cute characters and levels. We think we made it through 4 boards before Id had enough and came to provide our review. We dont normally leave any review that isnt positive but if the developers are going to appeal to Original Trism players.. Then we hope others like us dont rush in and purchase without reading reviews. We dont care about the three bucks we spent to learn our lesson. We just want to know why you would so completely change a game? Now excuse us while we go play a real Trism game.

You can no longer control where the triangles slide from. Its always from one direct: upper left.

We feel like this got released too early. We’ve seen a keyboard not sized to a 6S, doesnt allow background audio through, and a host of slow downs waiting for the story nonsense to catch up. Every time the game registers a tap it isnt ready for, theres a handy pop up that says, Please Wait. The actual gameplay is still great! But this game feels like it was compiled when the 5S was new and only just pushed to the App Store. Waiting eagerly for an update.

The original Trism was imaginative. It took full use of the iPhones accelerometer and the style was a classy puzzle game. Unfortunately instead of dragging entire diagonal columns, you now place the triangles directly on the board. When you match 3, the pieces disappear but you have no control of which direction the pieces fall. In other words, this isnt like the original at all.

The original Trism was the game we wanted more than any other before we got an iPhone. We played it for literally years. This doesnt feel like Trism. Sure there are triangles in a hexagonal grid, and its a puzzle game. But thats it. You cant move the rows of pieces, which is what made the original game feel so new and gave it so much of its strategy & depth. Instead this is basically a match 3 game on a tilt. The app feels SLOW. It spends so much time playing long animations that it often gives us a please wait indicator. Trism never did that. Its incredibly frustrating. The game stops our music/podcast, even with sounds disabled. At one point it re-enabled music while we were playing. When you get stuck and bombs fill the field it doesnt ensure that youll have a playable move afterward, so you can get stuck. Its not always clear where to go for he next level. If you pass a level too fast you cant earn all the stars, putting you in the position of trying to AVOID winning to get your score up. This feels like a candy crush clone made by someone who saw a screenshot of the original game. Im sorry. We know its been in development for a long time. When we saw there was a sequel, even though we saw it had been changed to have a story, we bought it instantly. But the core gameplay doesnt feel the same.

We agree with so many here that this game is so far from the original that it barely feels like Trism at all! The sliding portion of the original is what made it so unique and unlike others, we played it for years. We would argue that the original Trism has one of highest replayability of any puzzle game out there. We want quick play also, not an adventure game, we just want to play a puzzle game real quick, not read a storyline which we skip most of the time so we can play the actual game, but the actual game is sad and doesn’t have hardly any elements from the original. We also waited 10 years too, checking social media every few months. Update the original Trism, add some new playability and update for newer phones and I’d be glad to give you some MORE money.

Tbh we bought this just to support the devs as we love Trism. But we noped out and deleted the game after about two mins.

Your scoring system is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! We’ve been stuck on a level,(cant say which one because this game is so scatterbrained with no rhyme or reason to anything,) in the very beginning where we need 2000 points to move on! Its been a week! Im done trying. Its not fun at all! Theres just no reasoning behind anything in this game! Theres to much text involved that you have to read and none of that makes sense!! Sorry but this game isnt worth the space it takes on our phone!

Update: after a year and a half we finally got a response. Basically he never finished the game and ran out of money and then didnt like the negative and ultimately hostile feedback so hes not motivated to finish this game. And he had to go get a real job again so he can work on this in his spare time. (Riiiiiight). 1. Feedback may not have been so negative if he had communicated to begin with. Do we feel bad for being angry? NO. The game developer GHOSTED us from the beginning. 2. This game should not have been released requiring up front payment when it wasnt finished. Free to play with in app purchases would have been smarter and would have been received better and he might not have run out of money. 3. Really just overall unprofessional. Im not buying anything this guy makes again. He got lucky one time with one game and dropped the ball big time with this one so once again we say DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. We dont even want to play the original any more, Im so disgusted. October 2019: Well, we dont know what happened to our original review, and that just makes this game worse. We LOVED this game, we were SO excited to play it. Got through the quests and got to the preview of the next world that promised an update soon, with more levels. Well, 18 months later, STILL NO UPDATE, it has NEVER BEEN UPDATED. And it has bugs, lots of bugs! No update. Since we paid for this game, we expect it to be finished. This person who made this game has made no effort to make it right, to update anyone on the game, and somehow manages to hide all negative feedback. Steve Demeter is a liar and a thief.

This has turned into nothing more than a match 3 game. No more sliding triangles, no more triangles falling into place depending on how you turn your device. And then no updates with new levels. We do believe we have been royally and intentionally cheated by the developer.

We bought this game since we enjoyed playing the original so much however this version is nothing like the first one and we are now regretting our decision to purchase this.

For example – Boss fights… Do you REALLY have to reload the entire animatic when restarting the boss levels?? You are wasting our time! Deleted out of frustration. Waste of $3.

Stupid animations. A waste of time clicking through meaningless speech bubbles for a story thats incoherent and unnecessary. Then the puzzles, when you finally get to them, are short and overly simple. Stick with the original. This is a completely different game.

The original Trism was easily our favorite puzzle game on iOS. We probably put over 100 hours into it, just trying to get all of the achievements. When we heard the creator was making a sequel, we got so excited! …… That was 10 years ago. 10 years later and the game finally releases, and Im sorry to say, its pretty horrible. Also, the game only has 1 level! Its about an hour or so of gameplay before theres nothing left to do. We were shocked when after an hour we got a message saying updates coming soon. Are you kidding us? We paid $2.99 for what is essentially a demo that took 10 years to create. Demiforce should honestly be ashamed of this. Is that hour of gameplay fun at least? No. Its a boring extremely generic puzzle game in comparison to the original. The game is riddled with bugs as well. What a shame, we waited a long time for this one.

The game is a glitchy mess. Frequently locks up and crashes. Barely made it past the tutorial. Running iPhone 8, not some old hardware either. We were willing to look past the alterations to game play and give it a chance. Bought day one because we love the original way back on our iPhone 3g we believe it was. If no update for crashes in next couple days going to ask Apple for a refund we guess.

This has removed virtually everything fun about the first game, and replaced it with interminable cutscenes, dialog, and animated trisms. No wonder they took so long to release this steaming pile. So much effort for so little fun gameplay. Love watching animated trisms explain weird rules and gameplay? This is the game for you. Trism lovers, stick with the original.

Cant get out the door the game freezes, deleted reinstalled 3 times same thing game freeze.

Not much thinking. Just click on the little figurines telling a story. Next please.

This is not Trism. We feel like they should really make that clearer in the description. Other than looks, the gameplay here has nothing to do with the original, which was a great game. Its too bad, Trism is one of our most-played iPhone games and really deserves an update.

We find it unacceptable that this game forces us to have some online account to play. We regret purchasing this.

The original Trism is the first app we spent money on and we’ve been looking forward to the update. But this… This is not Trism. The animations, music, and sounds are annoying and we cant find a way to turn them off. And now without the gameplay responding to the position of the phone, its just another pointless match 3 game.

The sliding mechanics was the point of the game. The story is cute and all, but why mess with the mechanics that made the game famous?

This developer, Steve Demeter, is a criminal with no conscience whatsoever! Do not download this game!! It will never be updated, youll never be able to finish it! Hes abandoned this game. Do NOT download!!!!

Game was fine at first then started crashing like crazy. Got to the point where we couldnt play at all. Game would load and we would get nothing but a black screen. We were logged into FB and GC so we deleted the game and reinstalled. Logged into FB from the start screen and it says our name is already taken. So now we lost all our progress. Great! Game has no support at all, just a bogus website! What a waste of money!!!
