**Campaign
The campaign is split into 10 historical missions from the first engagements to the famous “Pickett’s charge”. Missions present different levels of complexity that will give you hours of gameplay.
**Unique Controls & Unit Self-Awareness
The game plays in real time, but you can pause at any time to plan your strategy and give orders to units. Drag simple movement arrows to command large forces as if you are drawing them on the tactical map. Units do not need micromanagement, able to act on their own: re-aligning, switching targets, withdrawing and forming battle lines without player input.
**Smart AI
The AI commanders are able to evaluate and gain tactical superiority in real time, reacting to your actions; fighting aggressively or defensively replicating actions of a competent human player. The game will provide the significant challenge on higher difficulty levels.
**Detailed Map of Gettysburg
We used satellite images and historical maps, recreating important locations, houses, ridges and hills that are depicted as accurately as possible within the game’s unique art style. If you are an American Civil War enthusiast, you will be happy to notice the amount of precision and information that the map provides. Not only will you be able to better understand the historical layout of the map, but also you will be able to use of each location and landmark in battle, thanks to the simulation of cover, concealment, terrain and high ground in the game.
**Advanced Line of Sight
Elevation and obstructions will affect unit visibility realistically. Units will use concealment and cover to survive artillery barrages, stage ambushes and more, but beware – the AI will attempt to do the same.
**Tactics matter
In Ultimate General: Gettysburg, you will realize that army units are not “machines” that blindly follow orders, but need to conserve strength and courage for decisive battle actions. Every basic tactical element that is expected from a strategy game is important for winning battles. Unite morale is affected by multiple factors including flank or rear attacks, casualties, volley shocks, artillery fire and fatigue.
**Historically Accurate Forces and Leaders
Ultimate General: Gettysburg includes the full order of battle for the Union Army of the Potomac and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. Command famous brigades like the Iron Brigade, Louisiana Tigers, 1st Vermont, Bucktail Brigade, Gibraltar Brigade, Excelsior Brigade and many more.
**Differences with the PC version
The game was redesigned from the ground up to provide good usability and playability on tablets. If you have played the game on the PC, the major change is in the campaign flow and in the user interface. The tactical combat and its features were tuned only slightly. You will be able to experience the same depth and challenge on iPad.

We have the Mac version too and we can tell you there are many aspects to the game that are not in this edition. That being said, this game is very well put together and runs perfectly. We enjoy it all day long. We only like one other game as much as we like this one. Please work to add features and then advertise.
This game is really fun its a good strategy game, but the thing is that we wish they would add other battles.
Very interactive and and simple but fun and requires a lot of strategy.
The mission when you play as the south and you attack little round top is impossible!!!!!
This is awesome! To think that 20 years ago we had to play this on a pc, only now we can push it on our phone with better graphics!

Very good game. It could use some updating. We would love to see more battles. Chancellorsville, 1st Manassas, Cold Harbor, Shenandoah Valley Campaign.
Its a very good game and the battles feel very realistic. The modes are not very hard but can be tricky sometimes. We have had lots of fun playing this game.
We really like this game because we have so much interest in the Civil War and so much respect for all the men who fought in it.
This is a great strategy game. Even if you are really new to this sort of game you can pick it up pretty easily. The controls are very intuitive. One element for improvement could be a better defined view for artillery units. Sometimes you may not crest a hill to attack and the unit is just idle. We really love the detail to historical elements and hope that their is an investment being made for a WWII version as a modern twist to legacy game Panzer General.
Id be much better is you could pass and play like on other apps also a mode so you could play with others in other locations.
Great game just wish there was a skirmish mode.
This game was one of the best civil war games in the app; The only problem in the game the companies can not be divided in small size for the attack, and the cavalry does not have much power in the attack. But we’re having fun playing. We’re waiting for the next, number II.
Getty burg is real from a lot of years ago and we like playing games about history.
Great game… As a kid that grew up in the 70s playing Avalon Hill and other table top strategy games with cardboard counters being able to simulate this battle on an iPad or iPhone is awesome. When the C64 hit the scene we hoped for a game like this with no hexes for facing. The simple movement, grouping, charge, ranged attack all make this feel like the strategic RTS that military strategists enjoy. We hope another one would be produced but we understand this app has been around several years. We hope you produce more. Definitely feels like a labor of love and definitely appreciated by those of us older gamers.
It’s challenging to strategize, but it just makes it so much fun and more satisfying to win! Kind of like Chess!
No its not exactly historically correct but what do you expect? Just have fun with the game and stop picking it apart.
This is such an impressive game that we enjoy playing over and over above all others. We’ve been waiting for a long time in hopes that they will produce another if not several more. We dont think it will happen. At least we have this one!
This is a great game. But if you could add a sandbox mode that would be great.

Great game we wish that you could make more angle like a 3D angle do you could actually lead from the field. We also wish you could create your own character and lead like that.

The game we’ve been looking for years. We wish there were more missions and please have multiplayer.
The game is awesome. We get very few games like this due to todays sensitive society. When the developers are true to history, then they can make a game thats worth playing. Too many companies look away from what the fan wants and what the society so called needs. Hence why Ultimate General is a great game. Though we have had great fun at gazing through the battlefield and leading our troops into battle. 1:The first issue with the Brigades breaking so easily. Whenever im in combat with the enemy, we put our men and defenses in place in preparation for the attack. We’ve noticed that whenever the men hold on too long, they falter. We dont know if its a in game problem but it has caused us to lose battles whenever a singular brigade of infantry, sometimes with over a 1000 men, decide to break. Its frustrating having to change your entire plan whenever a large unit randomly breaks. 2:Another issue that we have is why cant the generals cavalry charge the enemy. Im used to to total war and being able to use the General to do calvary charges. Besides the issues we’ve listed, the game is a definite purchase and a keeper.
It wold be nice to have something to the affect of local multiplayer though other than that we hope to see more from you.
Love the game, but they need to get Ultimate General for the entire war, game is on PC/Mac hopefully they can convert to this format!
At first you’ll probably despise it then its great we genuinely like to play as Union because they normally have an advantage and it’s great for beginners like us It’s worth your while and money.

Best game so far, great strategy game and graphics are great for the iPhone. Highly recommended, no crashing, it’s definitely worth the $4.00!! Now all they need is a world war 1 and 2 and an American revolution one like this we will buy every one!

Once we realized this is the game we played on the pc when we were younger we freaked out! We loved that pc game so much and now its mobile! Keep in mind it is only a 3 or 4 dollar game, and its for mobile , its not a pc game its a mobile. With that in mind this is an awesome game! We are more than happy with our purchase and we love how strategic you need to be in this game! Just buy it already and quit reading in to reviews to much! Lol yes we understand the irony with that last statement :)
Hands down this game is legit. Our only real real concern is that each battle is time limited. Should have free-play option… The gameplay handles beautifully. This game ranks among the best we’ve ever played.
This game has been amazing so far, we recommend it for any civil war/history fan out there. Its probably one of the best commanding strategy games out there. You guys should add a custom mode to the game, to make it more fun. But so far this is a fun game. 10/10.
We are so frickin good at this game. So good. We play on level hard. We win. Ill just say that. We been playing this game for 2 years every time we sit on the potty. Cant sit down without it. We are especially good at this game. We challenge any person to beat us. It is impossible to beat us because we are so good, it is also impossible, because multi player option is not available yet, When it becomes available we swear to you we will beat you. We will close with this statement, to the ultimate general nation, worldwide, we are Gonna go play right now, if you know what we mean.
Dont over do your men , keep your general near brigades to boost morale . Place your men in cover on the map. Know when to charge and move out . Close artillery is brutal . Awesome game.
