WHAT IS SPATIAL ABILITY?

Spatial ability is "the aptitude needed to mentally process three-dimensional images of objects." (Fleisig et al. 2004).

WHY IS SPATIAL ABILITY IMPORTANT?

"There is evidence which indicates that strong spatial skills are required for achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. Many people, including science and engineering professors, view such skills as important for success in fields like engineering." (Gutierrez, Dominguez, & Gonzalez, 2015)

CAN SPATIAL ABILITY BE FURTHER DEVELOPED?

"The level of spatial performance someone is capable of may change over time. You are likely to gain in performance through practice, training, and learning, but you may also lose in standing relative to others if they acquire more experience that supports their performance or make more progress in their intellectual development." (Johns Hopkins University, 2018)

If you wish to improve or retain the level of your spatial ability, -unfold- will be the best option for you.

Interesting and low pressure explore and solve.

We think there may still be problems with the orientations of some symbols, but if we ignore that, try not to be too exacting, and leave those symbols for last, then we seem to be getting them right and at able to advance. The game is now as enjoyable as we expected it to be. Thank you, developer, for being so responsive to our cranky complains!

Totally stuck on a level and its driving us nuts.

We like the game the functionality is unique we have never played a game much like this before and we are very appreciative of the intuition that went to the game. There is only one thing that bugs us and it doesn’t particularly deal with the game itself it’s more of the music that is played while you were playing the game. We just cannot seem to put a name to this song we recognize it and it’s aggravating that we can’t find the name of it anywhere in the description of the game it’s self. We really need to know what the name of the song is because the song is mesmerizing to us. Please if somebody or maybe the developers if you guys know please tell me.

While we like the concept of the game, some of the puzzles need tweaking. For example Puzzle 15 would technically have multiple solutions, but the game only programs one valid solution. On Puzzle 50, two of the symbols are swapped on the solution net.

On level 50, the 3 square diagonal and the 5 square star are reversed. Thank you.

Having the shapes match the directions on the folded object would make it much too easy so Im happy they dont match. As of this point all puzzles are correct except 50 which two shapes need to be swapped incorrectly to complete.

It has been amazing. We just cant find the music anywhere and would like to listen to the artist. Also, cant find an email to ask about it.

We like the idea of this game, but Im annoyed by the fact that theres an error in the third puzzle.

The simplicity is quite enjoyable, even relaxing, aside from the frustration caused by the inability to precisely turn the shape you are to unfold. It never spins quite the way we need it to which is immensely annoying and headache inducing.

We like the concept and minimalist aesthetic, but the controls to rotate the polyhedron are half backward. Swipe right-to-left and the polyhedron rotates to the left, which seems correct. However, swipe top-to-bottom and the polyhedron rotates up, which seems backward. Also, swiping to switch between the marker shapes doesnt work. When we swipe right-to-left on the shape selection, the second marker shape is briefly displayed, but the first marker pops back as soon as our finger leaves the screen. That leaves clicking on the wee icon representing each marker as the only way to pick a different marker.

The game is very enjoyable to play, but capping out a 50 levels is kind of upsetting especially for a paid app. Please add more levels in the future!

Some of the rotations are annoyingly incorrect Gesture to control 3D object is broken Lots of promise but poor execution.

This is a great concept and the puzzles are fun. But they have to be right. Puzzle 7s answer doesnt match the graphic direction of the symbols in one of the sides. Seeing that this is key to solving these things you guys should really watch out for this kind of error.

We love the concept of this game. Unfortunately rotating the 3D object is pseudorandom and insanely frustrating. The fact that the orientation of the symbols on the unfolded object dont match the orientation of the symbols on the 3D object is annoying but something we could get over. What destroys this game is the horribly broken gestures for rotating the 3D object. We cant believe the developer shipped something this borked.

The 1.3 bug fixes (10/2/18) seem to work and now make this an enjoyable game. Glad we didnt delete from original frustration. Upgraded from 1 to 4 stars. All of the below seems fixed. Repeating whats already been called out. One can solve a problem yet the app doesnt accept it as correct. No logic behind why it accepts only one of several correct answers. Waste of a fun idea. Puzzle 8 is a great example of several possible answers that dont get accepted. A 9/30/18 bug fix just broke this more! Ex. For puzzle 7 you now have to put the pieces in place incorrectly to move on.

We like the game, but Im stuck at level 51. It wont load.

Fluid 3D interaction, challenging enough spatial exercises. Hiccups aside, a pleasure – especially when one finds a rhythm. Music is spot on, future versions shuffle multiple tracks? Also finished object could use more responsive axises.

We actually took to making a paper shape to help us figure out the level 15 puzzle and the faces dont fold like it says, it makes a diamond shape, but the icon arrangement is incorrect, its not actually possible for the unfolded icons to end up where the are on the folded shape, and thus impossible to solve logically, so you have to just trial and error …. Smh. Additionally some of the shapes in the unfolded diagrams are pointed a different direction than the folded shape i.e. Triangles pointing to flat edges in the folded shape but clearly pointing the to an apex in the unfolded shape…. We dont know if this is intentionally meant to confuse or just a mistake. Lots of Illogical problems for a logic puzzle. Edit: Just updated this game and continued forward. Immediate disappointment. Im not here to be a product tester, there are continued problems with further levels, there are icons on folded shapes that don’t even have matches in diagrams. Some of the icon/shape face matches are reversed between folded and unfolded shapes. Im pretty sure our spatial reasoning skills are better than the designers of this game.

Puzzle 15 is physically impossible. The two triangle shapes on opposite ends of the fold out would end up on opposite sides of the octahedron and not touching corners as it does in the pictured shape. We even made an actual paper model to see and our theory was correct. Even one of the triangles on the sides in the fold out is facing a different direction than in the pictured shape. Please go over your shapes to be sure they are actual and real and dont contain these kinds of errors.

The orientation of the shapes you drag on to a paper fold often do not match the reference. Triangles point different ways the correct solution, than in the reference. Otherwise -buggy.

Dont waste your time. You probably already have better spatial reasoning skills than whoever designed this game.

Sizes and shapes of both the planes of the object and the symbols you place on it arent to scale. Also, the orientation of the shapes in the correct answer doesnt match the figure youre trying to replicate. More frustrating than enjoyable to play.

While this game certainly had potential, it lacks any sort of attention to detail that is essential in a game all about using details to solve puzzles! The UI is poorly designed and has multiple flaws in controlling objects, the displayed 3D shapes are not scaled correctly, and the icons meant to represent different faces are sometimes oriented in the wrong direction, all of which leads to a user experience that is all around disappointing.

We were excited about the concept of this game. We bought it without first looking at the reviews (first mistake). We assumed that because it was spotlighted by Apple, it must be good. No. We dont get the logic behind this game because it doesnt do a good job of explaining why Im doing certain actions. Instead of figuring out how to flatten a 3D shape, Im placing random shapes on top of an already flattened diagram. After 5 min of guessing at how to play the game, we deleted the app. We want our $1 back.

It would help if creators would create correct puzzle solutions!

Many of the folds have multiple correct solutions, it seems the game only accept 1 and it does not tell the reason the chosen. Very unintuitive.

Once again a logic game with no directions how to play.

The concept of this app is very interesting. We had thought that the game involved visualizing how the flat panels would fold up into the 3D object where the symbols shown on the panels would be facing outwards, but a few of the puzzles we’ve encountered early on into the game arent setup that way. We’ve spoken with the developer and hes assured us this is how the game is intended to be. In that case, we find the difficulty increases way too early (I first encountered this issue on Level 7) and severely takes away from the enjoyability of the game.

Really fun, but some of the completed shapes used to guide the answer are actually incorrect compared to the final answer, which is very misleading. On the puzzle 7 rectangle, the completed rectangle in the top left doesnt represent the final shape. We hope there arent other similar problems. Really fun as long as the hints are actually accurate.

Rotating the object is way more difficult than it should be because it resets when you let go. There are multiple puzzle solution problems such as on level 9 if the symbol direction matters the solution is incorrect and if it doesnt matter there are a large number of correct solutions that are incorrect. We quit on level 11 when we realized the symbols on the object were different than the symbols for the solution. This game just seems like it was thrown together as fast as possible without waiting for anyone to play test it… Incredibly lazy and disappointing.

Just reached second level and the answer is already incorrect.

Level 7 is unsolvable. Allowing a rotational feature to the shapes before adding to the object would be helpful.
