We enjoy word games & the Upwords app is no exception. So far we have only played against the computer. There are 3 levels of challenge. The suppprt is great. We’ve experienced a couple of bugs over the years. We have received an answer to our emails immediately as well as the appropriate fixes in timely manner. Highly recommend.

We’ve been playing the pc version for a while against the expert and come to conclusion he cheats. How are the letters distributed? And we found several words thats not in any dictionary. You know something is hunky when he can come up with 36 points (using all 7 tiles) twice in one game. And we have all consonants. Seriously.

This game has so much potential to be great. It is a licensed version of a physical game played with letter tiles. The developer refuses to embrace modern word lists. If you like playing a very sanitized, very limited and colloquial dictionary perhaps the game strategy can amuse you for a while. Like Wordfeud or other stellar anagram games this developer could offer dictionaries to users for in app purchases. Developer prefers to let the game languish with juvenile and limited lists. Hoping for any developer to take the basic game concept and strategy into a more robust playing arena. In the meantime this game is moderately adequate and amusing. Not worth spending any money on at this point.

We love this game. We liked Scrabble but a friend years ago introduced us to Upwords, the board game version, so we knew what it was about. It took a bit for us to grow into the player we are now. We learned a lot about myself playing with others. Our strengths, our weaknesses. We have never lost interest in the (almost) daily playing. It never gets old or tedious. We simply love the challenge and the friendships we’ve made with other players.

We’ve played this game for years with the tiles and when we found the app we were thrilled. We have it on our iPad and our phone and play it every time we ride in a car or just sitting at home.

Love this game, many options to create fun words and increased points! Only we do wish the algorithm did a better job at spreading out the challenging letters among players and same for vowels and consonant distribution no fun if no vowels or too many, same w/consonants. Have been playing for years though and enjoy a round or three every day!

Its a pretty good game, except for the fact that they dont have a good dictionary. Sometimes they use words that cant be found in a dictionary, not even the one they provide with the game.

No limit on number of attempts per turn, unlike the board game version, makes this tedious as people will try 8,000 combinations and take forever; the fun is gone. Limit the number of attempts per turn.

Ha. Love the game, but what is one to do with so many letter Us? They are dispensed as freely as much more useful vowels like A, E and O. Other than THAT, good job creating a fun game, from someone who spends way too much time on it.

Its difficult to enjoy the game with the insane amount of ads interrupting every turn. If you close out to skip the ad, the game makes you replay your last move with a few more ads that youre forced to watch. Its clear why we deleted this app 6 years ago. Ill pass.

First, we (my husband and I) have been playing this game for a few years now. We love it. We also own the physical game, but somehow, that never comes out of the closet, LOL. So the game is great and the format is great. Whats BETTER than great is the support. We had an issue recently with Facebook logins. When we sent a very short email to support, we got a personalized reply that our problem had been FIXED in LESS THAN 40 MINUTES. Thats unheard of. We couldnt be more pleased.

Our sister and we play online Upwords every Tuesday night for about 3-4 hours and we love it. Even though we live 3,000 miles apart, we feel like we are together playing every week. We put each other on speaker phone and enjoy the evening playing Upwords. Thank you for the option of no ads – we love it!

Need to think ,, very good game.

Unless the app is no longer active?

Would like to see definitions of some crazy words that pop up Yes Very hard and annoying trying to close out some advertisements.

Love the 3D aspect! Wish you would separate the Q and U!! But manage to have fun anyway!!

We’ve played Upwords for a long time! And we absolutely love it !! But a few days ago, we were unable to sign in. We signed in through Facebook, but it gives us an error message now. So we cant play, and because we cant sign in we cannot get tech support!!

We love playing this game with friends and anyone who also enjoys word games.

LOVE Upwords! We wish we knew more people that played. We’ve been playing a championship round with our brother-in-law for years! Its a great, challenging word game and super-fun to play long distance!

It holds on to words too long if not a word making us wait to change it.

Our sister, our son and our daughter are enjoying playing long distance. The design was fairly well done for the most part. However, the ball was dropped when someone decided to not allow the letter s to be added to the end of a word. There are many words that adding an s to the of does NOT create a plural. Such as abides, follows, makes, strikes (the verb), becomes, weds, parts ( the verb) and many many more. A more thought out algorithm would fix this. Go ahead and make what could be a great game just that. Keep up the good work. Pop.

We enjoy Upwords very much and we’re glad we paid to remove ads many years ago. So why give 3 stars? Because ever since Glow was added (I love it!) we’ve requested that it stay on until you move a letter to change the word you created. It goes off so fast we have to click multiple times to check whether all the words we’re trying to make at once are correct. Also, as others have mentioned, we need to be able to exchange at least 3 letters without a penalty. We often get 6 or even 7 consonants for multiple turns. Or the opposite, 6 vowels such as UUU OOI. The game isn’t fun at that point.

Too long, redundant and unnecessary.

Upwards is a fun game to play. But this iteration has issues that are somewhat troublesome. There is no way that the tiles are distributed randomly. We are dealt the Q, Z, J, and X in nearly every game. If we receive one of those early in the game, with great certainty, we know we will get the rest of them throughout that match. Further, on the stats analysis of player performance, it is disturbing to receive five points after a win, and yet be hit with a 47 point reduction in the statistical ranking, from one loss. And that is even after winning nine of the 10 previous matches. Clearly, there are some aspects of the game that are just not fair.

This game used to be fun but the letters are so lousy now that we no longer get to make bigger words. We limp through a whole game making two or three lettered words. Spose you could improve on that?

As stated above, ridiculous dictionary. No reason behind word accepted/declined. Obviously put together by an uneducated hack. You obviously dont want honest reviews since every nickname we try is taken.

We have been playing this game since it was introduced. We played Swywords before that. We created our account using Facebook and now we cant log in. Please fix it. We tried to email via the app link and the email was unable to send. Your Twitter hasnt been updated in seven years. So we cant get in touch with you.

Ads cover the play buttons so you have keep reloading the app before you can take your turn. The whole user interface is now in bold font. It looks like something a 7th grade student would make in intro to computers class. Actually they would have fixed the ad covering the buttons bug. Why is every upgrade such a disaster?

There are so many ads that we can barely play the game. We might remove the app in the near future.

Play this game every night with friends in other states. Lots of fun and love that we can ‘chat’

This is a well designed version of the classic board game that we play almost daily. We beg that this software company purchase the rights to the standard Scrabble game and make a good version of that game. Or make a copycat version of standard Scrabble. But most of all, this game is excellent! You can play varying skill levels against a computer opponent or online too.

There was an update to the game within the last few days and we just wanted to let the developers know how much we appreciate that in-valid words turn red as you place them. We like it better than the old method, where you didn’t know until after you submitted – it’s very helpful. Thank you!

We love playing upwords on a daily basis with our friends. It is challenging and stimulating and it increases our vocabulary and competitive edge!

Much better than plain old Word. Harder for sure. Our favorite.

We want so much to love this game, but for the love of God, the ads are TOO MUCH! We cant even play long enough at one time to even see if we want to purchase. Knowing these ads are way too much in the way tells us the developer is forcing you to buy the ad-free version. For that, we are out. We play and have purchased many ad-free versions simply because the developer was not so desperate.

We’ve enjoyed Upwords for a few years, but IMO the NEW LOOK is awful. Its not easy on the eyes, it looks like it was designed for 5-year-olds, and we wish there were an option to view it in either style, for those who prefer this look.

This new updated version is so annoying!

Game constantly messes up the turns when playing against the computer.

Why do companies, people whatever, always try to fix what isnt broke. When they have something that works perfect to begin with. Several bugs with this new version.

Superior to Scrabble in every way!

UPWORDS continues to challenge it is a fun word game that pits your ability against the letter board and words previously played.

Im not good yet. Im A kid signed into our moms account. Im 8 years old. It can teach you words.

It is a wonderful game, and the mechanics work very well. Daniel Upwords is very responsive to questions. However there are serious problems with the dictionary. They should decuple it from the dictionary they use and link it to a good dictionary.

A great game. We love playing this !!!

When you just want to enjoy a word game, just a simple word game to work your brain, and sometimes the stress of the day, this is it. Not everyone likes or wants HD graphics, things going on with the page that distracts from the actual game or playing various people on SM; at least let there be an option. Definitely recommend this game, fun and challenging.

Upwards our wife and we have been playing upwards together for years and never tire of the joy that we share playing this game.

We play with our kids now adults we have tons of fun we banter back and forth it is quality time we do in evenings after a busy day its relaxing while spending time otherwise would not have so Great game!!!

Please remove the ad with the blinking image.

Wanted to report a bug but the support email bounced back.
