It used to be good, but than it made you pay for access to all the games.
At first, we thought GameClub was a new owner of the Vectrex game. So when we started we wanted to pick a new game, we saw that you have to subscribe, just so that you can play another game. This is a cashgrab, it was better when we just had the developer itself.
We owned the original Vectrex game system. This is an amazing re-creation, and was obviously created with love for the original. Customer service was a little slow in responding, but ultimately restored our purchase.
We loved our Vectrex but Im not going to pay for a subscription. Im going to stick with playing our Cosmic Cannonade game app for now since its free with no ads.
So you can play. For $60/year. No thanks for a phone emulation. Subscription models are horrible. Just charge us for the app, and maybe additional games, like Cectrex originally did.
This game used to be free but is now $4.99 A MONTH and included all games we used to play for nothing. The excellent Star Trek game is now retitled Starship. Im sure it plays the same but cant tell since we have to fork out $5 to find out. Fine. BUT whats missing from basic play is the wonderful Battlezone. For that reason its only getting 2 stars from us. Im sure its buried there somewhere. Since we infrequently play video games, doling out $5 a month is crazy to us. Hard pass.
Id have paid for this previously free app on its own, but Im not paying for another subscription. Im not interested in any of the other titles, so we guess Im done playing Vectrex on our iPad.
Why did this move to a different subscription service? Whoever decided this obviously made a poor decision. Theres no way Im paying $5/month to play Vectrex games occasionally. Its great to relive memories (I had one of these as a kid), but dont play often enough to justify $5/month. Im not going to bother signing up and canceling every time either. Please make this a stand alone purchase! You worked too hard on this to let it die like this with a subscription service. Im not alone in this view either. Just read your reviews. Thank you!
This game does not work. The store website does not respond. You have to sign up for their monthly plan to play. And you cannot. This is not a free game with in-app purchases. This is a subscription required game. Except it isn’t. The store website is down. You cannot play anything at all. We have no idea how will this recreates the Vectrex. We cannot play.
We bought this app before they took it off the App Store and previous downloads, and are forcing the subscription. Completely unethical business model.
Like many other reviewers Im frustrated that a great free game now costs $5 a month to play. Just let us buy it and be done with it. Its ridiculous how many subscription games there are now. We had a Vectrex as a kid and would like to indulge in nostalgia, but not for a recurring cost every month.
Would have gladly paid $15 flat for this, but a $5 subscription fee every month? Youre crazy. Such a great thing ruined by such stupid greed and a drive to offer convenience and variety that only serves to ruin the whole experience. Have fun making literally 0 money would you at least could have made some if you hadnt gone with the subscription model. Dont bother replying to this unless its to say that youve removed the subscription and gone with a flat price. What a tragic failure of a great thing.
A free game we have had for years that we can no longer pay without a $5 monthly subscription? We would gladly have bought the game but not interested in subscribing to a game club, especially at this ridiculous price. Listen to all your unhappy customers!
We too am unhappy with this change. We would rather pay a flat price for the app than do this monthly payment setup. While we will miss playing the games, this comes across as more of a cash grab than anything else. We cant justify spending a monthly amount on this app. A shame that the designers went to this format. As a result we have deleted our app.
The app works well but not work $5 every month to be apart of the game thing. Sad you just cant buy it on its own.
