Community Insight:

Reminds us of wings of volore not as good though still fun. Un tell you finish the game then. It is boring we know you can still play wings of valor the original on older devices as a kindle fire.

Closest thing on the App Store to Wings of Fury the Commodore 64 / Amiga classic. However this game is lacking in several aspects to the original. The most noticeable is the controls feel sluggish. The virtual joystick mode doesnt seem that responsive and the camera tilt is kinda disorientating. Wish there was a way to keep the camera level so you can just fly the plane and focus in on its movement. The tilt controls arent for us either because with the camera tilting and the physical device also tilting in your hands its hard to guide the plane on the screen as well. Another issue we have with the game is the weapons. Air to ground missiles are fixed to either rockets or missiles per level. You cant select which type you are armed with each time you reload. Also it seems that the machine guns dont have as rapid of a fire rate as would be useful for strafing. Visually the graphics are OK. The animations for the plane changing directions seem wonky. They are doing some sort of pseudo 3D thing with the wings that doesnt fit the aesthetic. Also the gear coming down seems to just be scaling instead of moving into place, kinda weird. These are little things and dont really matter to gameplay but makes a difference in the perceived lack of polish feeling of the game. As for physics, the planes seem to really feel sluggish when coming out of a dive. Even with a fully healthy plane, climbing after coming out of a strafing run seems sluggish. Crashes arent very realistic as the plane sometimes just bounces awkwardly off the ground with some particle effect smoke. In summary, this game is kind of frustrating to play if you are coming from a position of playing the old Steve Waldo classic and expecting that level of gameplay. We made it through 6 or 7 levels and the had to give up out of frustration.

Im on iPad Pro but when we open the game its just planes going by no play button.

We really enjoy the game and have received 3 stars for every level except 1-8 Foxs Nest. We just cant figure out how to sink a battleship (2 torpedos), another boat (guns) and a gun emplacement with the firepower provided. Even trying to get enemy friendly-fire doesnt seem to get you there with the amount of fuel available. Whats the secret.

We like this game a lot but we got to the 3rd level and it got HARD we cant best it but other than that its really fun.

We like the game! Llooking for a Wings of Fury clone and it does it pretty well, but it crashes after the ad and Id love the option to purchase it outright.

If You played Wings of Fury on Commodore C64 or Amiga You will love this game. GFX are good enough to not spoil the gameplay and controls are also good on the mobile. This game is hard but the same was the original.

Horrible controls, horrible graphics, horrible sound, and just horrible. $1.99 for an ad free experience is about $1.98 too much for this game. How the heck did this made the front page of the App Store is beyond our comprehension.

Steve Waldo coded the classic Wings of Fury 8-bit game way back in 1987 for the Apple ][. You needed 128K, a finely tuned analog joystick and an appreciation for some terrific programming skills. It was incredible what could be done with a 1 MHz processor in the hands of a true artist. You are the lone pilot on a battle-wounded US Aircraft Carrier armed with the incredible Grumman F6-F Hellcat. Using rockets, bombs and a powerful machine gun you face the entire Imperial Japanese Navy and the dreaded Mitsubishi Zero. Some folks may have seen the subsequent ports of this game to the PC or Nintendo but those lacked some fun features found in the original. This beautiful iOS version stays mostly true to the smooth cinematic (for a 2D scroller) gameplay and adds a few new elements with clever & intuitive tilt-shift controls and mostly keeps the classic action. Brought back some really good memories and will be keeping this app to fight the good fight another day.

Fun to play but the animations are lacking and not as fun as Wings of Valor (which isnt available anymore).

Cant figure out how to control pitch. Delete.
