Would you like to help letters hookup? In Word Hookup, you gotta hook-up letters so as to make words. Get the latest word game that everyone is playing! Featured as "Game of the Day" and in "5 New games we love" by Apple!
Like the billion word puzzle games in the app store, this game is also about finding the hidden words on the puzzle board. Yet it’s sooooo different. This word search puzzler adds another dimension with a path finding requirement to hookup the letters. This changes everything, because now letters are not next to each other and the player really has to map the letters mentally to form the words. Why don’t you watch the app preview to get an idea!
The game has some great features like beautiful background artwork to provide hints to the puzzle theme, changeable key sound effects, earn stars by finding other words etc.
It has a simple beginning, easing you into the game mechanics, but the difficulty level slowly increases as the levels progress. This ensures that the user, once settled into the game’s rhythm, maintains interest.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Start from a letter and Swipe up, down, left or right to hookup letters in correct order to make words
- To solve the puzzle, all squares of the board must be covered by the path(s).
- The background provides you a clue to the theme for the puzzle words. A plain background means there is no theme for the puzzle!”
- Earn STARS by Hooking-up other valid words. These words may be of any length and need not be from current theme!
- Every level is solvable, but you can get stuck if one of the paths you made blocks out some squares. Just use the RESET button if you get stuck.
- HINTS are available to help you solve the trickier levels!

About me
I am a non-techie mom of 3 kids, and came up with this game while helping my kids with vocabulary. Developing this game has been a family affair, with everyone contributing their bit. My 14yr old daughter created the graphics for the game. I have 10 year old twins who helped me with compiling the word lists, and with testing. Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it! We love it you really need to think about it and it sharpens our mind THANK YOU.
We have reached the Champ/Expert Section but every time we close out of the app it resets. We have to input all those words to get back to where we were. Its frustrating.
Okay. We freely admit we are a word snob, a grammar nazi, a devoted worshipper of letters, spaces, and marks on a page. We call it an eccentricity; others call it a personality disorder. Potato, patato. We gave this 5 stars on the first night, but then we got to know it better and the magic wore off. This game has no mercy. We mean, the word "mercy" is not a real word according to the game dictionary. There is also no "pith." And while it admits there is such a word as "professor," it will not allow you to "profess." Strange, huh? These are just a few examples. We get that folks might not want to hook up with every word they meet, but here the dictionary appears to be a random selection of random words. We really like the game concept and the potential for strategy, but it needs a more respectable vocabulary. The puzzles are fun for an occasional hookup, but this not the kind of game you take home to meet the parents.
We love us some word games but we got to level 15 (granted in the rookie section, but we like to start easy when we’re trying out games), and not only did we get raked over the coals with ads that they fade in so at first you think it’s part of the game, but also there was no challenge whatsoever. Nothing remotely causing us to need to think at all. Sad times.
We did the update and we are still locked out of all of the levels we previously mastered. We have to start at puzzle one every time. Time to delete.
All our hard work getting through the Masters level was wiped out with the update. Wants us to restart at Rookie. Dont think so. Bye bye word hook up.
Fun, addicting game, but points/coins are very hard to come by. We have played other word games in which this is the case, but if we do spend the coins for a hint, the hint should not disappear so quickly. If we use the 5-coin hint that shows every other letter in the answer, it disappears if we get the answer wrong. It should stay up until we get the answer right. Should be an easy fix without having to rewrite the code for the entire game.
Seriously. Its quite difficult to guess the correct word if they have it spelled incorrectly in the app. Ugh.
One of the best game apps we’ve tried. The reason for only 4 stars, which Ill change to 5 if the problem is corrected, is we completed the Master Level and it shows two more levels are live but they are not. We cant go any further and there is no explanation anywhere as to why this may be. Again, a great game except for this one problem.
Good and clever game. We cant say anything about the latest update because we just finished the game without it. We thought each puzzle was fair, though especially the non-themed puzzles were trickier than the themed puzzles since you could easily identify which words were right once you found them. Our only complaint and Id happily change the score to a five, is that it didnt take too long to finish the levels, so Im sad theres not any more. That being said Im glad that while we definitely got stumped multiple times, after putting it down and coming back Id always eventually figure it out and we never thought the solutions were unfair. Nothing too obscure or unknown.
We would give this game more stars, but it doesnt include all possible words. We were playing a level and finding the bonus words, but there were at least two words we could make that the game wouldnt accept. Yall need to get a dictionary. Deuces.
To really exemplify this: on the first master level, try the word real. Its four letters. Should be a star word, and yes, as the word suggests, its very, very real. Playing the game is not so much a challenge as it is a guessing game as to what words the developers arbitrarily added.
Word games abound the App Store a dime a dozen. What makes Word Hook-up different is the unique gameplay and restrictions or challenges. There are only predefined specific words that one must find and only words that fit the hook-up pattern. The background theme serves as a hint ! The game has been created with a lot of thought to aesthetics and design: it is cute and pleasing. Ads exist for free gameplay but they are minimal (please keep it this way).
After playing a few levels of this game, we couldnt stop! The game is very well designed and a fun challenge. We would highly recommend this game to anybody who likes a good challenge.
Similar to another reviewer we love the game but dont like the fact that we cant get help on bonus words that stump us. We dont even mind that we dont get credit for finding extra words that are not the bonus words that one gets credit for, we just dont like that if we ask for a clue it only gives clues for the main puzzle.
We really like the idea of this game. The problem, though, lies in the execution of this game. We would like to know the criteria for the bonus words in game, because it is frustrating when we have 5/8 words found, when there are more than 8 words able to be made out of the map. Itd be fine if they didnt accept 3 letter bonus words, but on some levels they do, and on those levels there are 3 or 4 letter words that they dont count. So it gets frustrating when there are words that youre finding that arent in the bonus count and you cant find the specific ones that they set out. It just seems arbitrary.
We have enjoyed the game so far, and am currently on the scout levels. There are just 2 things that bother us about this game. 1. When you use hints, it only applies to Final Word answers (the one needed to pass the stage. However, if we’ve already gotten those words and want hints on the star clues, there is no way to do so. Whats the point in getting hints on words we’ve already guessed?? 2. Also, about star words, they seem to be limited to whatever the devs have chosen. On countless levels, we have spelled out legitimate 4-5 letter words, but because it isnt what the devs had in mind we dont get any credit for them. This is quite annoying because there are multiple levels we are missing a single word to fully complete, despite having entered valid words but not getting any credit for it. All in all though, we find this game quite enjoyable. Nice little challenge to kill some time out of the day.
We love this game, BUT we are not earning any coins as we go along in the game… The only way we can figure out to get more stars for hints is to buy them. Another thing that we find confusing is that the stars we earn for finding extra words do absolutely nothing for us in the gameI dont get coins or anything else as a result of finding these extra words and it doesnt matter if we find all of the selected extra words or just find some. Otherwise, the game play is great, but it can be pretty difficult, as one could imagine, with letters that look so random, especially when they are long or there are two words, as with the scout level. Because we cannot get coins to use for hints without spending money, we end up having to cheat. Which is undesirable, but necessary in order to move along in the game. Also, we see the update says we can send feedback from the settings on the game menu, but we cannot seem to find the settings in the game. Please help if Im missing something or not noticing a solution to the issues we are having and we will update our review. Thank you!
We downloaded the game to give it a try since it showed up on App of the day. 5 minutes in, the Advertisements start bombing up everywhere. You see ads while playing a level, you have to see an ad in between levels. It was frustrating to even give the game a try. Two stars for what we could play with. The concept is good. But lost in a pool of ads. We have seen other games where ads are placed strategically to let the user enjoy the game first for about 30 minutes a day, etc.
Wow a lot of ads and they all last 30 seconds. Fun game but the ads detract.
This game is totally gone…. It doesnt play by its own rules. You can add only the words (as extras) that THEY choose. They just redlined the other words we found. Everything costs you the stars earned by extra words. The game is for children who would enjoy making idiotic lines to create words… Sorry guys, but we definitely did not enjoy this game. We would not suggest this for our friends to play.
In the age of Apple Arcade, we would imagine the App Store editors would be more critical of how developers use ads within their games. Our first four minutes with this game subjected us to a cheap ad after four levels that we could skip after 30 seconds, followed by a second interactive adventure that was not optimized for our iPhone XS screen. Controls were not visible. Could not skip the ad after 30 seconds, effectively locking up the game for us. Force quit and instant delete. We know the use of these ads is largely out of the control of developers (ie which ads show), but devs should be more concerned. Services like Apple Arcade are only going to make consumers like us far more critical of bad ads and apps that use them.
And the game isnt worth 10 to remove them. Deleted app.
This is a cute game but it delivers conservative advertising from Judicial Watch which says that climate science is fraud science.
We had an issue with a level and submitted a poor review. The developer responded to our review very quickly and resolved the issue. Very happy with the response and game.
The game prevents you from spelling the word correctly so is stuck on the level and cannot go any further….
We think Chief 24 is messed up. The words should be ARMOIRE and DIAPERY but the arrangement of the letters prevents you from being able to get diapery. Is this a bug or do we have the wrong words? Other than that and the recent chemotherapy fix, the game is great.
Cant get away from it. Teases our vocabulary and visual placement of words.

We really enjoy this game. However, twice we have run into a bug that prevents you from playing. The game hangs on a transition screen after you play. Restarting the app or phone doesnt fix it. You can delete and reinstall, but there is no way to save your progress. If they fix this issue its a five star game.
Enjoyed it, but after taking a break after getting to scout-2, game wont load any levels, freezes on level load screen.
This game starts you out at a kindergarten reading level and wont let you jump ahead to puzzles that are challenging unless you pay money. Also, after every six levels (approx. Two mins time) gameplay will be interrupted with another annoying full length advertisement. Its ridiculous. Bottom line is, this game is not free to play, and not interesting enough to shell out money to play. Delete!
Our son is really hooked to the game, he enjoys it while he done with his dinner when we are in restaurants! Im glad he picks to play this game as it involves the whole family. He loves the music and clues on background for the theme of the words!

Game is fine, well made. However, we got 5 very inappropriate ads in a row. We would not rate this as appropriate for 4+. Got tired of the sexy slot machine ads that were not only irrelevant to us, but also objectifying women in every frame, had to delete.
Amongst the various Apps on word building, we think this one is the most interesting one. Keeps you looking for the right word and the right way to connect the letters. Go ahead, exercise your brains!!!!
