A Glimpse into Wordiamo

"…one of our highest recommendations." -The Smartphone App Review

  • Arrange letters to make words on the board.
  • Play words anywhere—connected to other words or not.
  • Build bridges between words to earn bonuses.
  • Play 8 letters on the "mainland" to win by knockout.
  • Go for long words. You’re awarded bonuses according to the number of letters you play on a turn. For example, play 7 letters and you’ll get a 7x point multiplier applied to those letters plus an 8th letter, a star that can become any letter.
  • When you play words without connecting them to others, this creates word "islands". To score their points, be sure to connect islands to the mainland before they expire.
  • Short words are less emphasized compared to traditional crossword games. It can still be handy to play those infamous two letter words like ‘qi’, ‘za’, or ‘ka’, but doing well depends less on knowing them.
  • Play proper nouns and other words like ‘Oz’, ‘Fiji’, ‘Zion’, ‘Venus’, ‘Sunday’, or ‘Botox’ (an optional feature).
  • No bonus squares to jockey over. This means you focus more on making words and less on defensive strategies. As a result, the board opens up and words begin to flow.
  • Play friends online through Game Center.
  • Play randomly matched opponents with Anyone Online games.
  • More ways to play: Robot (you vs computer), Solitaire (just you) and Pass & Play (you vs friend sharing one device).
  • With Robot games, there is a challenger ladder where each time you win, you advance to face a better robot. If you lose twice in a row to the same robot, you step down on the ladder for your next opponent.
  • To return and redraw, press the round button, drag letters into the tray, and press play.
  • To shuffle, drag letters out of your rack (but not onto the board).
  • To quickly retrieve letters from the board, double-tap your rack.
  • To zoom on the iPhone, pinch or double-tap the board.
  • Robot games are only available on A10X or newer devices, e.g., iPhone 8, iPad Pro 2017, iPad Mini 2019, iPad Air 2019.
  • Play on Macs with Apple Silicon processors

Update: This game continues to improve, with a single player mode that quickly adapts to give a challenge matched to your skill level. Theres also improved sharing via messages. We really like the fact that the free version has ads but they dont interfere with game play and there is no timer or energy meter mechanic to limit the number of turns you can play in one session. This is our go-to app for a quick break during the day. Original review: we like word games, and this is the best out there. Games like Boggle are OK, but you’re just shuffling letters around. Scrabble and WWF are fun, but have rule quirks that encourage defensive play. Wordiamo allows for the strategy of these other board games, but rewards playing longer words and being more creative with your letters. The game is also much less about being lucky (like drawing a few high value tiles) so skill and strategy are front and center. The game also has great minimalist design. No fake wood, bouncing tiles, or garish color schemes, just a clean game board with intuitive interface.

This is a wonderful word game. Its nice that you can play against a robot or other people. There are some unique and creative ways to increase the score of the word you play like building islands and bridges to connect words, and these make it quite fun. A great word game!

This is very legit. Excellent gameplay. Computer player game is one the bestrecommend.

We like this game, the interface looks good and we like making words. Five stars!

A great game for the brainy soul :) The solitaire game is really good after you get in to it!

This is a great word game to play on your own as well as with friends. We love being able to create word islands and subsequent word bridges as a way to increase potential scores.

It takes a bit to get then hang of this clever word game, but once you do, you will be hooked … So many fun features, including the new AI Robot … It has become our favorite!

Please try it outfun features, interesting strategies required. Id love to have a few new regular opponents.

Love this new word game! New update has a robot feature so you dont even need a friend to play with! What sets this game apart from WWF and Scrabble is building bridges which lets you flex your brain in a different way. Highly recommend this game for the wordsmith at heart.

Great game! Fun and challenging.

Wordiamo takes playing word games to another level. With some added twists over Words with Friends and Scrabble. Top recommendation for lovers of word games and analytical challenges.

So glad we discovered this game! If you love word games and are looking for a twist on the better-known apps, download this underdog. Word up.

This game is so much fun. Better than scrabble.

Less reliance on luck, more room for strategy, and an eye-soothing color palette; highly recommended!

Love scrabble apps & words with friends, but the innovations here are just brilliant. Hard to put down.

For a writer, word games are a natural and often inspiring break from creative writing, and Wordiamo is our companion of choice when we need a good diversion. A lovely app throughout, Im also impressed with Cliffs response to suggestions (allowing vertical flip, for examplethanks!). Hes a talented developer and deserves to be supported for his work.

Be forewarned – super addictive game.

Fun and addictive way of getting your word game fix and interact with friends and anyone else interested in the same. Cant. Stop. Playing!

We went into this thinking that it was a twist on Words with Friends. Instead, this game is refreshingly different. Bonuses are situational and there is more strategy. It took us a few games to stop thinking like a Scrabble player and to start thinking about islands and bridges.

Once we figured out how this game is different from wwf, we couldn’t put it down. Definitely worth checking out if you like word games.

Love this game! It has an entirely new dynamic with the islands and bridges. Building and connecting islands can dramatically shift the tide of a game… It’s a challenge to use them well and simultaneously try to defend against your opponent doing the same. The scoring favors high quality words and their strategic placement over cheap, easy words that happen to find lucky positioning on the board.

More dynamic than Scrabble or Words w/ Friends!

This game is excellent. If you like Words With Friends or Scrabble, take some time to learn this game. The word making and game play is just so much more enjoyable for us.

We love this game. We like the changes from scrabble that make it a more positive than negative strategy. Word islands are the highlight. Great way to stay connected with friends. Well done.

So much fun. Great game overall, we highly recommend it.

We play this game at stoplights. So addictive.

Great word game! Much more fun than scrabble.

Got this app after a friend recommended it. Simple to use, challenging and a bit addictive! We think our IQ has gone up since using it! But our girlfriend says no, it hasn’t! (I need a smarter girlfriend -obviously!) Hal ~NYC.

We loved this game! Interesting and fun!

Love the new take on word games. More fun and more challenging. Finally a word game that you can be challenged at and isn’t boring. :)

It’s like scrabble but so much better! We’re addicted!

Really cool game that introduces some new strategies for word play. We love it already :-)

Our whole family has been playing Wordiamo non-stop! We love the word islands – what a great addition to the Scrabble genre. Kudos to the clever folks who created Wordiamo!

Wordiamo sets itself apart from run of the mill word games with its unique concept of word islands and bridges. Islands create a fun new element of strategic gameplay that allows games to remain competitive and interesting even for those of us who are vocab-challenged. The new solitaire mode is great for when your friends are ignoring you.

Great new take and different play from the traditional Scrabble and WWF. This is a lot of fun!!!

Clever game design that is easy to learn but tough to master. Way better than Words with Friends…

So much more enjoyable than scrabble or WWF! Being able to play anywhere on the board is liberating and enjoyable — it’s all about making great words without worrying overly about positioning.

Too cool! Alleviates a lot of the staid hang-ups of Scrabble & WWF Highly addictive.
